Mama's and kids

We'd love to go to Mama's for the first time on our upcoming trip, but we now have kids in tow :) Our kids are picky and likely won't eat any apps or entrees. Would it be frowned upon to a) bring kids, and b) just order dessert and a fancy kids drink for them? Does Mama's offer any sort of accommodation/kid menu (i know I can reach out to them directly and will, just wondering about actual experiences of others). It would be lunch time, party of 4 adults, 3 kids. Behavior-wise I think they'd be fine and we'd have electronics as a last resort.

Mama's Fish House is known for its fine dining experience, fresh seafood, and beautiful oceanfront location. While it is traditionally more adult-oriented, families with well-behaved children are generally welcome, especially during lunch service.

Regarding kids and picky eaters:

  • Many families do bring children and have had positive experiences. The staff is usually accommodating as long as the children are reasonably well-behaved.
  • Ordering only dessert or drinks for kids is generally acceptable. A fancy non-alcoholic beverage or specialty dessert is often fine, especially during lunch when the atmosphere is more relaxed than dinner.
  • Mama's does not have a formal kids’ menu, but they can sometimes accommodate simple requests if you call ahead or speak with your server on arrival.

Practical tips from other visitors:

  • Make a reservation and mention you have children, even if just for dessert. This helps the staff prepare and set expectations.
  • Seating near the windows or oceanfront can give kids visual entertainment while adults enjoy the meal.
  • Bringing quiet entertainment (e.g., a small toy, coloring book, or device for emergencies) is acceptable and helps ensure a smooth visit.
  • Keep portions and expectations in mind — Mama’s portions are generous, so sharing among adults is common and can also help if kids don’t eat much.

Overall, visiting Mama’s for your first time with kids, even if they just have dessert and drinks, is considered acceptable by many families. The key is good behavior and respectful use of the space, which it sounds like you already have planned.
