Great question. Yes, there has been a lot of progress in Fort Myers Beach since Hurricane Ian (2022), but some parts are still recovering as of mid-2025. Here’s a breakdown of where things stand now, which resorts are open, and some limo/transport options to consider.
Resort & Hotel Recovery Near Times Square (FMB):
- Lani Kai Island Resort: Reopened to guests in December 2024 after extensive rebuilding.
- The resort fully renovated rooms (drywall, plumbing, electrical, furniture, etc.).
- The beach bar and bar-to-beach service are operating daily.
- They are re-opening in phases; some restaurants are still under construction (for example, Grace’s Café is planned to open in the lobby).
- Other Fort Myers Beach Hotels: According to a recent town report, about 60% of the tourist accommodations (hotels / motels / vacation rentals) have reopened.
- Restaurants and Bars: Many have reopened, especially beach bars, but some full-service restaurants are still in recovery. Locals note that FMB isn’t 100% back to its pre-Ian state yet.
Good Limo / Car Service Options (Other than Uber):
- Island Coast Transportation: 24/7 car service / limo / SUV service based in the Fort Myers area.
- Fort Myers Limousines / Party Bus: Offers stretch limos, sedan limos, and party buses.
- Hummer Limo Ride: Stretch SUVs, H2 limousines, and other specialty vehicles.
What You Can Expect Visiting in June:
- You should be able to stay in a resort near Times Square (like Lani Kai) now that it’s reopened; your trip will help support local recovery.
- The beach is still under some rebuilding, but many key amenities (bars, some restaurants, beach bar service) are operational.
- If you want to avoid traffic or parking hassle, using a limo or car service for 1-2 nights is a very reasonable and comfortable option for getting around, especially in a group or for a special outing.
Bottom Line: Yes, Fort Myers Beach is making significant progress. Lani Kai is back open, and beach bar service is up — but some parts are still recovering. Using a limo or car service is a smart way to get around comfortably, especially given some of the traffic and parking challenges. Your visit will not only be enjoyable but supportive to the local community.
