Do you have power tonight

Our power went out 30 minutes ago.

From the top of kaanapali down to black rock Kaanapali’s Beach is reporting no power.

Spectrum messaged us that they expected to resume service in 4 1/4 hours.

Heard some sirens but have not heard and information on what has caused this outage or how long we may be with out power.

Any updates?

Aloha

The Getaways

Aloha — thanks for checking in. I don’t see any credible, up-to-date public confirmation of a widespread, ongoing power outage specifically in the Kāʻanapali → Black Rock beach area at this moment beyond what you’ve described. Here’s what I found, plus some practical steps and resources for you to use to get more real-time information and report your outage.

What the Research Shows

  • Hawaiian Electric (Maui County) maintains a live outage map where customers can report outages and see current status by area.
  • As of recent updates, Hawaiian Electric ended a “Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) watch” for Maui.
  • They ask customers to report specific outages through their Trouble Line: 1-855-304-8181 for Maui County.
  • There is a risk of extended outages if there is damage to the lines or other infrastructure, especially after a shutoff — crews sometimes need to inspect and repair before power can be safely restored.

Steps You Can Take Right Now

  • Go to the Hawaiian Electric outage map (linked above) and:
    • Pinpoint your location (or nearby) to see if your outage is already logged.
    • Submit a report if your address isn’t showing — providing as much detail (nearest street, resort name, etc.) helps their crews.
  • Call the Maui Trouble Line (1-855-304-8181) to report your situation and ask for an estimated time of repair or restoration.
  • Follow Hawaiian Electric on their social media (especially their Maui-specific account on X/Twitter) for live outage updates.
  • If your hotel has a front desk, ask if they have backup generator power (many resort properties do) or if they have any local insight into outages.

What to Prepare For

  • Power may not come back immediately — restoration can take several hours if inspections or repairs are needed.
  • During the outage, be careful with food in refrigerators/freezers; minimize opening doors to preserve cold temperatures.
  • Use your phone sparingly to conserve battery, and have a flashlight or portable light source ready.
