Hotel
Hi,
I’m looking at hotels in downtown St Petersburg for a weekend trip with my husband.
We like being able to walk to restaurants.
It seems like the best options would be the Hampton, Hyatt or AC Marriott ? Would appreciate thoughts on those as for location, pool, or if other suggestions.
Thanks !
Downtown St. Petersburg is a vibrant area with lots of restaurants, bars, and cultural attractions within walking distance, making it ideal for a weekend getaway. The hotels you mentioned—Hampton Inn, Hyatt, and AC Marriott—are all good choices, but each has its own style, amenities, and location advantages.
Hotel options and considerations:
- Hampton Inn & Suites St. Petersburg/Downtown: Generally offers comfortable rooms at a reasonable price, complimentary breakfast, and a small pool. Location is central, within walking distance to many downtown restaurants and attractions. Good option if you want budget-friendly convenience.
- Hyatt Place St. Petersburg/Downtown: Modern hotel with spacious rooms and a rooftop pool in some locations. Offers breakfast and a casual dining option. Very centrally located, making walking to waterfront areas, bars, and museums easy. Slightly more upscale than Hampton.
- AC Hotel by Marriott St. Petersburg Downtown: Stylish, boutique feel with a focus on modern design. Typically offers rooftop or outdoor pool, on-site bar, and good connectivity to walking trails, waterfront parks, and restaurants. Ideal if you want a more contemporary vibe and slightly quieter experience.
Other nearby options to consider:
- Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront: Overlooks the bay, walking distance to many restaurants, offers a pool, fitness center, and some rooms with water views. Great for a scenic stay.
- Element St. Petersburg: Eco-friendly, with suites that have kitchenettes, ideal if you like preparing small meals. Located near the downtown dining scene.
- Residence Inn St. Petersburg Downtown: Offers full suites with kitchens, good for longer stays, and includes breakfast. Walking distance to central attractions.
Tips for choosing:
- Consider whether you prioritize a pool or rooftop views vs. proximity to restaurants and nightlife.
- If you enjoy walking along the waterfront and access to parks, choose a hotel closer to the bayfront (Hyatt, AC, Hilton).
- For a quieter, boutique feel, AC Marriott or Element might suit better than the more standard chain hotels.
Overall, all three options you mentioned are solid choices for a downtown St. Petersburg weekend stay. The decision largely depends on whether you want more modern design and rooftop views, a central location for walking everywhere, or a budget-friendly and reliable stay with breakfast included.
