Where to stay
Hi, I am heading to For Lauderdale in August with my husband and 2 children (11,15) and have currently booked the Hilton FL beach next to the Conrad but have been told this isn’t a great place to stay?
Does anyone have any thoughts on this and if it isn’t a great place - where would you recommend?
Many thanks
The Fort Lauderdale beachfront area has a wide range of hotel options, and the experience can vary depending on the property, location, and type of amenities. The Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, located near the Conrad, has mixed reviews. Some guests enjoy the location directly on the beach, but others find the property dated and note that some family-friendly amenities are limited.
When traveling with children (ages 11 and 15), you might want a hotel that offers easy beach access, a pool, and convenient access to dining or entertainment options. Depending on your priorities—whether it’s family-friendly activities, modern amenities, or beachfront views—there are several alternatives to consider.
- Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach: Modern, luxury hotel with spacious rooms, multiple pools, and excellent beach access. High-end option with quality dining options on-site. Good choice if you want comfort and style with family-friendly features.
- W Fort Lauderdale: Trendy, upscale beachfront hotel with pools and water activities. Offers a lively atmosphere but still family-appropriate. Great for teens who enjoy a vibrant, modern setting.
- Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort: More budget-friendly, right on the beach, with kitchenettes in rooms. Provides flexibility for families who prefer to cook or have casual meals.
- Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort: Classic beachfront property with family-friendly services, a large pool, and close proximity to shops and restaurants along the beach promenade.
- Pelican Grand Beach Resort: A resort-style hotel with a lazy river pool, beachfront cabanas, and more space for families. Offers a mix of relaxation and kid-friendly features.
Tips for choosing:
- Consider proximity to restaurants and activities suitable for your children.
- Check if the hotel offers pools or water sports suitable for kids and teens.
- Read recent guest reviews specifically mentioning family experiences and room quality.
Overall, if the Hilton doesn’t meet your expectations, the Conrad, Westin, or Pelican Grand are solid family-friendly options with better amenities and beach access for a more enjoyable stay.
