Hotel suggestion

I had set my heart on High Noon Beach resort for our 2 night pre-cruise stay next April but sadly it’s not available for our dates. So now looking for recommendations for somewhere as nice in LBTS, beachside if possible. Maximum around $400/night.

Good question. Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (LBTS) is a charming, low-rise beach town with a laid-back vibe, which makes it a nice alternative to a more crowded or upscale resort. While your budget of up to ~$400/night gives you a lot of flexibility, particularly for April, the options in LBTS tend to be more boutique or small hotels rather than big chain resorts.

Here are a few solid hotel options in or very near LBTS that should be close to or under your $400/night ceiling (or at least in the ballpark), plus the pros and things to be aware of:

  • Shore Haven Resort

A boutique-style hotel located just one block from the beach on Ocean Drive. According to its property listing, it has a welcoming courtyard, multiple pool areas, and easy access to local restaurants and shops.
    – Pros: Very beach-close, relaxed, family-owned feel, pool, good walkability.
    – Things to check: Room type (studio vs one-bedroom) and rates for April, as boutique places can vary.

  • Plunge Beach Resort

This is one of the more “resort-y” options in LBTS, with a beachfront feel, pool, and a relaxed bar/kitchen on-site.
    – Pros: Beachfront, good value for a “resort” experience, decent amenities.
    – Things to check: For April, make sure rates are within your range (resort fees may apply), and double check how much “beachfront” vs “near-beach” your room is.

  • The El Mar Boutique Hotel

A small boutique hotel that's listed on a Lauderdale-by-the-Sea boutique hotel directory.
    – Pros: Quiet, personalized service, very local feel.
    – Things to check: Room types, size, and pool availability. Boutique hotels sometimes have fewer amenities than larger resorts.

  • Sea Lord Hotel & Suites

This is an adults-only boutique hotel in LBTS (per the same boutique-hotel list).
    – Pros: More tranquil, likely very clean and well maintained, ideal for a pre-cruise stay.
    – Things to check: Whether they allow younger guests, specific suite layouts, and total nightly rate with taxes.

Things to Consider for LBTS:

  • Limited Big Resorts: LBTS doesn’t have many high-rise mega-resorts, so your choices are mainly boutique hotels or small inns.
  • Walkability: The town is very walkable, with a beach, local shops, restaurants, and a very relaxed, small-town feel. This makes it ideal for a short stay.
  • Beach Access: Some hotels are very close to the beach, while others are a short walk or one block away. Be sure to check map location when booking.
  • Vehicle Parking: Parking may be limited at smaller properties, so verify if your hotel includes on-site parking.
  • Booking Early: Since LBTS is small and has limited accommodations, it's smart to book as soon as possible, especially for a pre-cruise stay in April.

Bottom Line: Yes — staying in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is a very good option. You can find charming, beach-close hotels that are more relaxed than Big Fort Lauderdale or Miami, and with your $400/night budget, you’re likely to secure a really nice boutique or resort-style place. Shore Haven or Plunge Beach Resort would be my top picks for comfort, location, and value.
