Kihei Surfside Condos Transportation /Eats
Forgive me I know this has been asked a ton. Will be traveling in September with a friend that has a car. However I value being able to split off and do my own thing so Uber readily available or bus runs by the community?
Also, I understand restaurants are a bit of a hike but keep seeing what looks like one on the neighboring beach(sorry forgot name).

Kihei Surfside Condos are in a convenient spot if you want to enjoy the beaches and also explore other parts of South Maui. Having a friend with a car is very helpful, but it’s understandable to want some independence for short trips, meals, or exploring.
Transportation: Uber and Lyft are available in Kihei, though coverage is slightly less frequent than in more urban areas like Kahului or Lahaina. You should generally be able to get a ride within 10-20 minutes, but during peak hours or weekends it may take longer. Maui Bus service does run through Kihei, mainly along South Kihei Road and connecting to central Maui destinations, but the schedule is limited, and stops may not be right by the condos. For flexibility, a car or rideshare is usually preferred.

- Maui Bus: Limited routes and times; mainly good for central Maui destinations and may require walking a bit from stops.

Restaurants: While Kihei Surfside doesn’t have a restaurant on-site, there are several nearby options within walking distance or a short drive. The “neighboring beach” you may be thinking of is probably Kamaole Beach Park III, where there are casual eateries nearby. Many of Kihei’s restaurants are along South Kihei Road, offering a mix of casual plates, seafood, and Hawaiian cuisine.
- Short walk options: Local cafes, poke spots, and smoothie bars near Kamaole Beach Park III or Kihei Road.
- Short drive options: South Kihei Road has a wide range of restaurants, from seafood-focused dining to casual plate lunch spots.

Overall, if you plan to explore independently, Uber/Lyft can handle small trips, but a car is ideal for maximizing your experience in Kihei and the surrounding South Maui area. For meals, a combination of short walks and brief drives will cover most of the good local options.
