Universal Hotel 2 adults over 21 but 3 rooms?

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids but my older daughter is 19 and wants to bring her boyfriend and share their own room (they are paying for their own room) and my younger daughter is 15 and will have her own room because Hubby and I want alone time ;)

That being said. I booked 2 rooms in my name (we will have connecting room) and then 1 room in my husbands name

Universal site says there needs to be 1 adult over 21 staying in each room.

I did ask the front desk when I was there about doing this exact thing so I didnt have to book a suite and he told me "we do it all the time, just tell us when you arrive and it will be fine"

However, as it gets closer- I am nervous that this scenario will not work out

Has anyone done this at Universal and will it be a problem?

It sounds like you have a great family trip planned to Universal! I understand your concerns about the age requirement for rooms, and it's always good to be prepared for any potential issues. Here’s some insight into how this might work based on my knowledge of Universal's policies:

Universal’s Room Policy:

Universal Orlando Resort typically requires at least one guest over the age of 21 to be staying in each room, particularly for the room that’s booked in your daughter and her boyfriend’s name. This policy is mainly in place to ensure that there’s responsible adult supervision in each room. However, this policy can sometimes be a bit flexible, especially in cases like yours where you're booking multiple rooms as part of a larger family stay.

What You’ve Been Told at the Front Desk:

The front desk staff telling you that "we do it all the time" is a positive sign that Universal is often accommodating guests who have a similar situation. Since you've already confirmed this information directly with the front desk, there's a good chance that it will be fine, especially if they know you're planning to have the connecting rooms and they are aware of your family structure. However, there’s always a slight risk of a different desk agent or new policy enforcement when you check in.

Possible Solutions/Things to Consider:

  • Call Ahead or Email: It might help to call Universal’s reservations or the hotel directly a few days before your trip to confirm that your room arrangement will be okay. This will give you peace of mind and help ensure that the front desk is prepared for your specific setup.
  • Check-In at the Same Time: When you check in, it can help to check in as a family and make sure that all rooms are linked in your reservation, so there are no misunderstandings about the room assignments or ages. Let them know ahead of time that your daughter and her boyfriend are in a separate room.
  • Consider Adding an Additional Name: If necessary, you can also ask to add a name of an adult (either your husband or another family member) to the reservation for the room your daughter and her boyfriend will be in. This way, the 21+ requirement is met for each room.

Conclusion:

Based on your conversation with the front desk, it seems like Universal has dealt with this situation before and may be flexible with your room assignments. However, to avoid any last-minute stress, I recommend confirming again with the hotel and ensuring everything is set up properly before your arrival. Most likely, you'll be able to enjoy your stay as planned, but a quick confirmation in advance will help ensure a smooth check-in process.

Have a fantastic time at Universal, and enjoy your family getaway!
