We are a family of 4 with two 16 yr girls. What area of Clearwater Beach would you recommend? Near the Pier or the South part of the beach? We'd like to be near lots of dining, ice-cream shops, things to do with the girls. We won't have a vehicle, so for the most part we'll be walking.
For a family visiting Clearwater Beach with teens, staying near the Pier 60 area is generally the best option. This central area offers the highest concentration of shops, restaurants, ice-cream parlors, and attractions, making it easy to walk everywhere without a car. Pier 60 itself is a hub of activity, especially in the evenings, with street performers, craft vendors, and a playground area, which can be fun for teenagers as well.
The South Clearwater Beach area tends to be quieter and more residential, with some resorts and condos, but fewer dining and entertainment options within walking distance. While the beach is beautiful and less crowded, you might find yourself walking farther or needing a ride to reach restaurants or shops.
Highlights of staying near Pier 60 include:
If you prefer a quieter vibe but still want some nearby dining, the northern end of Clearwater Beach near Mandalay Avenue also has a mix of small shops and restaurants, but it’s less lively than the Pier 60 area.
Overall, for convenience, walkability, and keeping teens engaged, the Pier 60 / central Clearwater Beach area is recommended. You’ll be in the heart of the action and able to access most things on foot.
