The autumn viewing in Wuyuan is mainly divided into three stages, each of which has its own unique charm.

Early autumn is the season when Wuyuan's rice harvests. The once green rice paddies transform into a golden field, and a gentle breeze whips up waves of wheat. The sun is shining, the sky is a clear blue, and the fields are filled with the aroma of ripe rice, creating a prosperous scene.

September is harvest season, giving rise to the traditional Wuyuan custom of drying crops. After the harvest, farmers place ripe rice, peppers, fruits, peanuts, and soybeans on their rooftops to dry in the sun, creating a dazzling display of colors. Many people come to Wuyuan in autumn just to witness this spectacular spectacle.

Wuyuan is absolutely the most beautiful in late autumn. The maple leaves turn red, the persimmons turn yellow, and the quaint villages with blue bricks and black tiles are breathtakingly beautiful. It is simply a photographer's paradise.

The autumn colors of Wuyuan are mainly concentrated in Shicheng and Changxi on the east line, and the autumn sun drying and early morning chrysanthemums in Huangling on the north line. So follow these two routes to appreciate the most beautiful autumn colors of Wuyuan!

When visiting Wuyuan in autumn, you must visit Shicheng, which is the essence of Wuyuan's autumn. Whenever the ancient maple tree at the entrance of Shicheng turns red, it means that autumn has arrived in Shicheng.

The most beautiful scenery in Shicheng is between 5:00 and 9:00 a.m. Standing in the distance, you can see the curling smoke, the lingering mist, and the gray-white buildings complementing each other, and countless people are mesmerized by this scene. Every year in mid-November, when the maple trees begin to turn red, a large number of photographers come here to take pictures of the autumn.

Especially in the early morning, the flaming maples in the mist are breathtakingly beautiful. If you go to enjoy the autumn, don't be lazy in the morning, otherwise you will easily miss this beautiful view.

The most beautiful places in Wuyuan in autumn are Shicheng, followed by Changxi. Located in the mountainous northern part of Jiangxi Province, Changxi is a rural village with a long history. With the village as its center, no matter which direction you approach, there's no human habitation for more than ten miles. Stepping into Changxi Village is like stepping into a colorful vat of paint.

When you reach the stone bridge at the entrance to the village, you can get off and walk. You'll see a small river flowing through the village. Looking up, you'll see forests of red leaves. China's pristine, millennia-old villages are becoming increasingly rare. Changxi Village, due to its inconvenient transportation, rarely attracts tourists. Even with Wuyuan's booming tourism scene, Changxi remains relatively unknown.

In late autumn, the village's centuries-old sweetgum trees, lining the streets of over 200 trees, transform into a vibrant crimson. The towering red maples, nestled against the white walls and black-tiled horse-head walls, create a unique red maple forest. The village also boasts numerous profound alleys, paved with large bluestone slabs, guiding us through the cultural heritage of Huizhou architecture. The ancient buildings found everywhere will truly amaze you.

China's autumn colors arguably begin in Huangling, Wuyuan. In September, drying harvested fruits in the sun becomes a beautiful early autumn scene... Savor the bounty of Huangling in the fragrant aroma of fruits and vegetables in farmyards. Bamboo drying plaques hung high in front and behind the houses speak of the pride of this year's thriving harvest.

In early 2018, Huangling began planning the "World Maple Garden", introducing hundreds of red maple and ginkgo trees from various countries and planting them around the ancient village. In October, the American red maples were the first to turn red. In November and December, when the thousand-year-old sweetgum trees were red on the branches, "people drying their leaves in the sun to enjoy the red maples" became the hottest topic and a popular shooting destination for photographers.

The morning sunlight is reflected on the terraced fields shrouded in light mist, and the plain old village is slowly dotted with red leaves. The deeper the autumn, the richer the color of Huangling becomes.

In spring, rapeseed blossoms blanket Xiaoqi, creating a dazzling golden scene. Autumn also adds a touch of color. Every year from late October to early November, Xiaoqi is ablaze with dazzling fields of royal chrysanthemums, a sea of blossoms even more magnificent than the rapeseed fields. The gentle autumn breeze carries a refreshing fragrance.

Xiaoqi's beauty lies not only in its sea of flowers in spring and autumn, but also in its scattered village houses, adorned with Ming and Qing dynasty architectural styles. Old trees and ancient houses, surrounded by clear water and dotted with flowers, stroll along the bluestone paths, giving you the feeling of revisiting ancient times, despite being a century old. To capture stunning photos of Xiaoqi's flower sea, try blurring the vast expanse of chrysanthemums, dotting the frame with golden dots, creating a striking effect against the backdrop of distant mountains and nearby houses.
