About Sanqing Mountain

Sanqing Mountain, also known as Shaohua Mountain and Ya Mountain, is located at the junction of Yushan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, China and Dexing City. It is named because the three peaks of Yujing, Yuxu and Yuhua are like the three Taoist gods Yuqing, Shangqing and Taiqing sitting on the top of the mountain. Sanqing Mountain is a famous Taoist mountain, a World Natural Heritage Site, a World Geopark, a National Natural Heritage Site, and a National Geopark.

@Qitian

It is also one of the "Five Most Beautiful Peak Forests in China" selected by China National Geographic magazine; and is unanimously recognized by Chinese and American geologists as "the most beautiful granite on the edge of the western Pacific Ocean."

Where does the fairyland come from?

During the trillions of years of evolution, Sanqing Mountain has been submerged in the sea three times.

@PhotoNet user (ID17367304)

The first occurred 1.4 billion years ago, and the sea submerged it for 400 million years, depositing thousands of meters thick marine clastic rocks mixed with submarine volcanic eruptions. Since the Mesozoic, intracontinental subduction and extension have provided an excellent geological foundation for the formation of Sanqingshan granite geological landforms, the reproduction of organisms and the development of mankind.

At the end of the Sinian Period, the second sea flooding came and submerged it for 160 million years. After the orogeny at the end of the Ordovician Period, Sanqing Mountain was completely separated from the seawater environment and no longer accepted sedimentation.

@PhotoNet user (ID17367304)

Although the third sea flooding occurred 440 million years ago, the seawater only reached the southeastern edge of Sanqing Mountain. After another 200 million years, Sanqing Mountain ended its marine history and entered a new stage of inland development. After that, it underwent a long and continuous plate movement and mountain building movement, which created the unique granite landscape and unique ecosystem today.

Three Pure Ones and Four Wonders, Wonders of the World

⭐Thousands of peaks compete for beauty and tower into the sky⭐

The granite peak forest micro-geomorphology of Sanqingshan Mountain mainly includes nine types: peaks, peak walls, peak clusters, stone forests, peak pillars, stone cones, rock walls, canyons, and shaped stone landscapes. Within the 3,780-hectare core scenic area, there are 48 unique peaks, 89 shaped rocks, and more than 384 scenic spots and landscapes, making it a natural museum of granite micro-geomorphology.

@Wang Yuanxing

The more famous ones are Goddess Peak and Giant Python Peak. Goddess Peak faces the "Giant Python Coming Out of the Mountain". The whole stone peak is like a girl with beautiful hair draped over her shoulders, sitting in lotus position, graceful and elegant.

@PhotoNet user (ID17554414)

The top of the Giant Python Peak is flat, and its neck is slightly thinner. The diameter of the thinnest part is about 7 meters. It looks extremely abrupt, like a huge python breaking out of the mountain and about to fly into the sky.

⭐Flowing springs and waterfalls surging through thousands of valleys⭐

The waters of Sanqingshan are sometimes gentle and tranquil, sometimes turbulent and endless, sometimes splashing like jade flowers, and sometimes shimmering like silver waves. Looking down at Sanqingshan, the mountains stand by the water, the water flows around the mountains, and the mountains and water shine together, creating a magnificent spectacle.

@Lin Xi

High mountains give birth to waterfalls. The Yulian Waterfall Group is located in the secluded valley jungle of Shiguling in Sanqing Mountain. It is one of the seven most beautiful waterfall groups in Jiangxi Province.

@abc55316

The waterfalls of Balanglongtan are like giant dragons leaping and tumbling, rushing all the way from the west coast into Yuya Creek, winding like a jade belt between the green mountains.

⭐Ancient trees, famous flowers, rare and exotic animals⭐

Sanqing Mountain is known as one of the most important "biological refuges" in the world. Due to its complex micro-topography and terrain environment, it has become a refuge for many ancient plants.

@Xiangshan Red Leaves

This is where the first Psoralea corylifolia was discovered in Jiangxi Province! Psoralea corylifolia has been listed as a national second-class protected plant and a rare tree species.

@Sanqingshan Tourism

There are also thousands of acres of alpine rhododendron forests in Sanqing Mountain. Every May and June, the ten-mile rhododendrons are in full bloom, which is intoxicating.

@Guo Xi

@Lin Min

Here you can also find the yellow-bellied tragopan, which is known as the "giant panda of birds". It is a national first-class protected animal and is endangered "R" level. It is rare that there are only fifty or sixty of them in Sanqing Mountain.

@Zheng Xiaoping

The pleasant climate and well-protected original ecology have enabled the Yellow-bellied Tragopan to successfully reproduce year after year.

@Jiangxi News

⭐Sea of clouds, fog, sunrise and sunset⭐

The sea of clouds at Sanqingshan is also a unique sight. Looking out from afar, the beautiful scenery appears and disappears amidst the swirling clouds and mist, creating an ever-changing wonderland, with clouds and mist transforming into a myriad of images.

@Pengcheng Layperson

As the sea of clouds rises, the orange sun jumps out from the sea of clouds. As time passes, the sky and the earth gradually brighten. In the distance, a purple-red dot slowly rises above the line of clouds. The red glow dyes the world so beautifully.

@immortal

On a clear day, sunset is a natural occurrence. The sun gradually descends from the horizon, painting the entire sky with a subtle purple tint or a fiery red...

@Sanqingshan Tourism

The Three Pure Ones were influenced by Taoism and Confucianism

In addition to its extremely beautiful scenery, Sanqing Mountain is also a holy place steeped in Taoism and Confucianism. The Taoist culture of Sanqing Blessed Land has a history of more than 1,600 years. Taoism has a long history. There are more than 230 ancient architectural remains such as palaces, temples, halls, mansions, squares, springs, pools, bridges, tombs, platforms, towers, and stone carvings.

@Sanqing Mountain

The "Xiantian Bagua" layout of the ancient buildings in the Sanqing Fudi Scenic Area is very worth pondering. It is the core of the entire layout, and other buildings radiate in all directions around this core, each occupying the position of a hexagram. It is known as the "open-air museum of ancient Chinese Taoist architecture."

@jyzdw

The design of the Fenglei Tower and the location of the Dragon and Tiger Hall all reflect the Taoist application of "Tao follows nature" and the pursuit of "harmony between man and nature". The human and natural landscapes are seamlessly integrated.

@Sanqingshan Tourism

Sanqing Mountain is also influenced by Confucian culture. Zhu Xi once lectured at Huaiyu Academy at the foot of King Kong Peak, leaving behind the immortal Neo-Confucian work "Yushan Lectures".
