How to get to Dongji Island in Zhoushan? Miaozihu Island and Dongfushan Island Travel Guide

Preface

The most important thing not to miss in summer is island tourism. In Zhejiang, there is Zhoushan, the only maritime city in my country famous for its archipelago.

Zhoushan Island is my country's fourth-largest island, surrounded by 1,390 archipelagos of varying sizes. Here you'll find Putuo Mountain, known as the "Buddhist Kingdom of Sea and Sky," Dongji Island, the setting for the film "See You Tomorrow," Goji Island, known as the "Little Greece of the East," and Flower and Bird Island, home to vibrant flowers.

Among them, Dongji Island is the general name for 28 islands of various sizes, including Miaozi Lake, Qingbang, Huangxing, Dongfushan, etc. The island in Han Han's "No Regrets" is Miaozi Lake Island, Qingbang Island is known as the Potala Palace on the sea, and Dongfushan Island is the easternmost platform for watching the sunrise in China.

Zhoushancheck the details

Zhoushan City is located in northeastern Zhejiang Province, bordering the East China Sea to the east, Hangzhou Bay to the west, and Shanghai to the north. It serves as a maritime gateway and channel for the Yangtze River Basin and Yangtze River Delta, radiating outward with emerging port cities in the Asia-Pacific region. Zhoushan is China's largest seafood production, processing, and sales base, and its fishing grounds are the country's largest. With numerous harbors and extensive waterways, Zhoushan is one of China's few natural deepwater ports. Ningbo-Zhoushan Port ranks first in the world in cargo throughput. It is known as the "Fish Warehouse of the East China Sea" and the "Seafood Capital."

Island Guide

Boat Route

Shenjiamen (Zhoushan) - Miaozi Lake (Dongji Town) - Dongfushan Island/Qingbang Island

That is to say, no matter which island you want to go to, you must first go to Miaozi Lake to change boats.

About ferry tickets

100 (lower position, relatively stable)

130 (middle warehouse, with windows to enjoy the view)

150 (Shangcang, with better scenery but a bumpy ride)

Sailing time: 2 hours

How to buy:

Miaozi Lake-Dongfushan Island

Ticket price: 30 yuan

Sailing time: 40 minutes

Tickets are not in short supply, as they will be announced on the boat to Miaozi Lake.

The return boat tickets are released one day in advance, so it is not particularly tight. Sometimes overtime is available depending on the number of tourists returning.

What to do if you encounter a typhoon?

Summer is the peak tourist season for Dongji Island, and it's also the peak typhoon season, so it's common for flights to be suspended when a typhoon hits. Suspension of flights is the first thing to happen when a typhoon hits, and if it's a major typhoon, it can also affect the island's food supply.

Generally, the ships from Shenjiamen to Miaozi Lake are large ships, and they can sail as long as the wind is not particularly strong. Miaozi Lake is very close to Qingbang, so they can generally sail there. However, there is a risk of suspension of navigation from Miaozi Lake to Dongfushan Island, and it is common for ships to be stranded at Miaozi Lake.

When the waves are big, the South Pier of Miaozi Lake will stop being used and the North Pier will be activated. You should know that all the restaurants and inns of Miaozi Lake are gathered at the South Pier, so after getting off the boat, you must take the island-circling electric car to get to the South Pier. The electric car costs 20 yuan.

Accommodation

The conditions on the island are limited. There are daily water restrictions for bathing in Miaozi Lake, but there are no such restrictions on Dongfushan Island. In addition, the hostels on the island do not provide disposable items, so you need to bring your own.

It is recommended to read the reviews when booking accommodation to see whether there is a pick-up service and whether there is luggage assistance service. These two are very important, especially when walking on a narrow mountain road and having to carry the suitcase by yourself, it is really painful.

Prices on the island

Mineral water costs 4-5 yuan, cola 6 yuan, seafood noodles 30 yuan, and xiaolongbao 20 yuan. Almost all consumer goods, including the food, are shipped in by land, so prices are relatively high. It is recommended to eat at the inn you are staying in, as the food stalls are quite expensive.

About seasickness

Prepare motion sickness patches in advance. They cost 20 yuan each on board, so the rich can ignore them. In addition, you can ask the crew for a vomit bag after boarding the ship in case of emergency.

Daqingshan Thousand Beaches

Tips:

Ticket Information:

Peak season (April 1st to November 15th every year): 100 yuan/person

Off-season (November 16th to March 31st of the following year): 60 yuan per person

Opening hours: 7:45-18:00

The Daqingshan Scenic Area has a coastline of more than 30 kilometers, among which the five major beaches are particularly famous, namely Qiansha, Lisha, Qingsha, Dongsha and Nansha.

The 18-kilometer ring-island tourist avenue brings together a series of high-quality resources for modern coastal leisure and vacation, including sunshine, waves, beaches, reefs, cliffs, fishing villages, and Thousand Islands sea views. It is known as the "gathering place of sea cliffs and reefs."

The rocks form a crescent-shaped beach with a 3km-long coastline. The waves gently hit the fine sand on the shore from time to time. Walking barefoot on the beach, the gentle friction between the feet and the fine sand, coupled with the beating of the waves, the comfortable feeling spreads from the soles of the feet to the whole body.

What's a beach trip without a picnic? Fruit, chips, soda... and friends—everything is essential.

In front of such a beautiful scenery, open the tablecloth, put out snacks, gather with friends, eat, drink, play and have fun, it's a perfect holiday.

Zhujiajian Strait Bridge

The Zhujiajian Strait Bridge is a bridge connecting Zhoushan Island and Zhujiajian Island. The bridge is 2,907 meters long. It is the first super-large cross-sea bridge in East China and the largest transportation infrastructure project ever built in Zhoushan City. It can be said to be a landmark building in Zhoushan.

Seaside Park

After getting off the bridge, you will arrive at the seaside park bordering the Zhujiajian Strait Bridge. This is one of the best angles to view the Zhujiajian Strait Bridge, and it is also a good place for Zhoushan citizens to stroll after dinner.

The Seaside Park was once the Daotou of Dinghai, an ancient coastal wharf. Later, due to urban planning, it was transformed into the current Seaside Park.

Miaozi Lake Island

Miaozihu Island is well developed and has a relatively flat terrain. There is a ring road on the island, and the scenic spots are more cultural.

A scene related to the movie "See You Tomorrow", where the ruins of the house that was blown up when the protagonists left their home are still well preserved on the island.

Statue of Caibogong

It is said that he was a fisherman from Fujian. When his boat capsized while fishing at sea, he drifted to Dongji Island and became the island's first inhabitant. Later generations built a temple dedicated to him, which can still be seen on the island today.

There is a small lighthouse on the seashore. I always think that the lighthouse is a magical existence. With it, lost people can find the way home, and with it, there is a little hope in the darkness.

East Fushan Island

Ring Road

There is only one road on the island, and if you want to see the scenery on the island, you have to follow this road.

Baiyun Palace, located 1/4 of the way, is a prominent landmark on the ring road. There is a water stall where you can refill your water.

The road after that is a stone staircase, some of which have guardrails and some do not, so please be careful when walking here!

sunset

The Ring Road is best suited for watching the sunset in the evening. Watch the azure waters change color from blue to purple to deep blue under the setting sun. As the sun slowly sinks into the sea, that last moment of afterglow seems to become the most gentle and romantic moment of the day. And then, the lighthouse in the sea lights up, illuminating the way home.

starry sky

When I leave my room at night and look up, I see a world of stars. There aren't many opportunities to see stars like this in a year. Looking at this vast sky, I suddenly feel so insignificant. I don't need to think about anything, just looking at the stars can relieve my worries and free my mind. With the starry sky as my pillow, I sleep soundly all night.

Uninhabited Village

Dongji, as the name suggests, is the East Island. Although it is most famous for its sunrise, the first ray of sunshine shining on Chinese land every day is on Dongji Island. Students who can get up early must go to see the sunrise at sea.

The island's uninhabited village bears witness to its former glory. The idyllic life of sunrise to sunset has been slowly submerged in the hustle and bustle of urban development. As depicted in "See You Tomorrow," Dongji Island is also in decline.

In the last century, Dongji Island was rich in fishery resources, but with the decline of fishery resources, young people on the island left the island one after another and went to the city to find other jobs. The abandoned houses became an uninhabited village on the island.

From a distance, it looks like a stone castle. Unfortunately, the castle is idle and only villagers are here selling water to tourists.

The entire village is uninhabited and has been largely taken over by vegetation. The stone houses have been emptied, but the scenery is so beautiful when you look out through the doors and windows of the stone houses.

The beach has no sand, only rocks, and I didn't see any beaches suitable for swimming on the island.

Walking along the road around the island, you can take a panoramic photo of the uninhabited village.

Conclusion

This trip is a journey that brings together sunshine, typhoons, islands, waves, sunrise, sunset, and starry sky. It is an island trip with the taste of summer.
