Rivaling Bali and listed in the top 10 most beautiful islands! With an average annual temperature of 23°C, you can enjoy this incredibly affordable tropical volcanic island without even leaving the country. Can you believe it?
That’s right, it is the super popular island in China - Weizhou Island.
Weizhou Islandcheck the details
Weizhou Island, located 21 nautical miles south of Beihai City, Guangxi Province, is the largest island in Guangxi and China's youngest volcanic island. In 2005, National Geographic magazine's "Beautiful China" campaign named Weizhou Island the second most beautiful island in China. With an average annual temperature of 23°C, Weizhou Island is one of the least precipitous areas in Guangxi, yet also boasts the highest thermal reserves. Formed by multiple volcanic eruptions, the most recent eruption is believed to have occurred 30,000 years ago. Weizhou Island is woven with volcanic coral deposits, creating a striking contrast between the rugged and rugged southern part of the island and the open, flat northern part. Its coastal waters are azure blue, and the living corals and precious seafood abound. The island boasts lush vegetation and beautiful scenery, particularly its unique sea erosion and sedimentary landforms, as well as its volcanic lava formations. It is therefore known as the "Penglai Island" of the South China Sea.

Weizhou Island is located in the central part of the Beibu Gulf in Beihai City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with a total area of 24.74 square kilometers.

No visa or long journey is required here, and with an average annual temperature of just 23°C, this truly hidden gem is perfect for enjoying the warm sea breeze in autumn and winter.

The island's southern section is steep and rugged, while the northern section is open and flat. Its unique sea-eroded landforms attract many tourists who come to experience the charm of nature. In recent years, Weizhou Island has become one of the most popular niche island travel destinations for young people.
Here's a sneak peek: these rare photo spots on Weizhou Island are sparsely visited and offer stunning scenery, but many people haven't discovered them! If you want to experience a unique travel experience, save these places!
This is a place where couples talk about love, the first choice for loving couples to take wedding photos, and a must-visit place for photography enthusiasts to capture the scenery of the island.
It's worth noting that Weizhou Island's Sunset Cliff bears some resemblance to Bali's Lover's Cliff. Perhaps the biggest difference is that the former is a popular online destination, while the latter is relatively unknown. It's truly remarkable how vast the world is, and how many wonders it holds.

As the epidemic situation abroad is still severe, if you want to experience the same beautiful scenery as Bali, coming to Muya on Weizhou Island may be a wise choice.

There's the sea, rocks, and a large patch of cacti near Muya. However, I've heard that Muya is quite steep and near two chemical plants, and is expected to be closed soon. Be sure to check if it's open before you go.
On the coastline between the Blue Bridge and Shell Beach, there is a super secret deserted beach, which is simply a real version of Shipwreck Bay!
The abandoned cruise ship stands out on the beach, its rusty marks a reminder of a long-forgotten past. Next to the ship stands a small house, its walls now in ruins, and behind it grows a lush patch of cacti. You don't even need to adjust the color or apply filters to take photos here; the original images are already stunning! The resulting photos are full of time and a sense of story.
This place resembles a scene from the movie "The Grand Budapest Hotel." Can you believe it's actually an abandoned seaside theater? Every photo is a movie poster-worthy masterpiece. It's located near Wucai Beach, just a short walk along the beach. The entrance is unlocked, so you can come and go as you please.
Sitting on these neatly arranged but slightly faded chairs, enjoying the dance and music prepared for you by the waves, all you see is a desolate, quiet and solemn scene. For a moment you don’t know what to say, and there is only incomparable peace in your heart.

When visiting Weizhou Island, you absolutely can't miss the sunrise at Wucai Beach! Stand on the rocks and wait for the sun to gradually rise from the distant sea level. From darkness to dawn, in just a few minutes, the entire beach will be covered in a golden phantom. At low tide, the sea gullies, illuminated by the sunlight, radiate a brilliant array of colors. Only then will you understand why this beach is named "Wucai Beach."
Located in Shengtang Village on Weizhou Island, the Catholic Church is a nationally protected cultural relic and one of the four great churches of the late Qing Dynasty. After the Qing Dynasty lifted the ban on Weizhou Island, French missionaries arrived and spent 10 years constructing this Gothic-style structure, primarily made of coral sedimentary rock.

The melodies of hymns and carols performed twice a day echo in the warm yellow church. Almost every couple who comes to the island will go here to make a lifelong commitment.

This is also an excellent photo spot. On the other side of the church is its back garden. Under hundreds of years of sea breeze and scorching sun, the mottled walls reveal the vicissitudes of life, making it a great place to pose for a set of retro photos.
From Wucai Beach to Shell Beach, there's a newly popular check-in spot called the Colorful Highway. Enjoy the sea breeze on an electric scooter as you slowly make your way along this fairy-like road, all the way to Shell Beach, the longest stretch of Weizhou Island's coastline.

The smooth beach is covered with white, soft sand, and every now and then a wave crashes in, bringing unexpected discoveries. Stroll along the beach, bend down, and pick up shells of all shapes and sizes, receiving this unique gift from the sea – a surprising and fun experience.
Shiluokou Beach, located on the west side of Weizhou Island, boasts crystal-clear waters. Unlike Shell Beach, this beach offers a variety of marine activities, including motorboating, beach scooters, and snorkeling. If you're afraid of the water or simply too lazy to move, renting a lounge chair and basking in the sun while listening to the waves is also a great option.
After a tiring day of shopping, it's time to enjoy a delicious seafood feast at Nanwan Old Street, the busiest spot on Weizhou Island. For dinner, we recommend buying seafood and having it processed.
The center of Nanwan Town is a popular spot for tourists to buy their own seafood. A variety of seafood is available for sale throughout the day, with prices varying with the season. You can generally find what you want, and if you're not sure what to buy, ask the innkeeper for recommendations.
Crocodile Mountain is located on Crocodile Ridge on the west side of South Bay of Weizhou Island. It is a national 4A-level tourist area and the most representative tourist attraction on Weizhou Island.
The scenic area boasts the Crocodile Hill Lighthouse, volcanic crater ruins, coral sedimentary rocks, and other geological wonders, including volcanic bomb impact craters, ancient tree fossils, and sea stacks. Although the crater is now submerged, walking along the coast reveals volcanic rocks left over from the eruption over 7,000 years ago. The iconic lighthouse is also a must-see, perfect for capturing photos with a fresh, Japanese feel.
The formation of Dishui Danping is a marvel of Chinese volcanic landscapes. The name "Dripping Water" comes from the constant flow of water from the massive rock formations, which drip down the cliffs year after year. The rock formations, with their alternating colors of red, yellow, purple, green, and cyan, give it the name "Danping." With its tranquil and timeless feel, Dishui Danping creates a highly photographic natural backdrop. Waiting for dusk, Dishui Danping is the perfect spot on the entire island to watch the sunset. Half beach and half coral, you can bid farewell to the day's final sunset with your loved ones.
As your trip draws to a close, don't rush to leave the island just yet. If you have time, consider exploring Beihai Old Street. This century-old street, filled with arcade-style buildings that blend Eastern and Western influences, is a distinctive Beihai attraction. Its unique charm and rich historical heritage are evident throughout.

At night, the old street is bustling with life, offering a variety of delicious snacks such as shrimp cakes, fried snails, desserts, and shrimp dumplings. You can also buy authentic Southeast Asian specialties in the supermarket here.
Here, time slows down... Rent a scooter for a whole day for 60 yuan, and ride it with your loved one, aimlessly drifting through every corner of the quiet island village. Banana and coconut trees line the road, and you might even spot a lazy cat napping by the roadside. When you're hungry, find a small restaurant and order some delicious, freshly caught seafood. You'll find yourself feeling at ease, the hustle and bustle of the workday fading into thin air.

The full ticket is 120 yuan per person, and the discounted ticket is 65 yuan per person. Be sure to keep the island entrance ticket after arriving on the island. Ticket inspection is required for the Crocodile Mountain Volcanic Geological Park on the island.
We recommend staying in a B&B or hotel near Nanwan Old Street, which is home to a seafood market, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, and B&Bs, making it the most bustling area on Weizhou Island. We recommend the Nanwan Seaview Hotel, situated at the highest point of Weizhou Island, offering panoramic views of the entire island. Its scenery and location are unique, and it's also the most luxurious and formal hotel on the island.

Free from overdevelopment, Weizhou Island retains its pristine and authentic character. Here, you'll find life so comfortable and relaxed that you might even want to stay and become an ordinary fisherman, living out the rest of your life in a carefree and simple manner...
