A 4-Day Guide to Jeju Island! Experience the Stunning Mountains and Sea!

Preface

Jeju Island is truly an ideal place on earth~ I never expected it to be so beautiful before I went there‼ ️ It was a trip that completely exceeded my expectations. I finally experienced what everyone always says about "pretending to be in Jeju Island".

This trip set foot on

📍Central-Jeju City area;

📍Scenic spots in the west such as Songaksan Mountain and Marado Island;

📍Southern-Chinese tourist area;

📍Eastern Shepchikoji, aquarium and other scenic spots;

Starting from Jeju City, we chartered a car to tour the east, west, and south lines. Over the four days, we hiked, watched the sea and fish, strolled through the Jelly Sea, wandered around the black reefs, encountered the sunset, checked in for delicious food, spent time in a cafe, shopped, and took photos in Korean clothes. It was truly a place where beautiful scenery, fun things to do, delicious food, and great photos were all included. We discovered a different way to play in Jeju Island. It was so fun and relaxing!

Jeju Islandcheck the details

Jeju Island, South Korea's largest island, lies in the country's southwestern waters, covering an area of 1,845.61 square kilometers and boasting a population of 600,000. Its beautiful environment and pure air make it a renowned tourist destination. Jeju's volcanic islands and lava tubes, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, boast distinctive volcanic columnar Jeolli Coasts. Jeju Island boasts not only unique island scenery but also the unique folk culture of the ancient Tamna Kingdom, earning it the nickname "Hawaii of Korea." Its tourism and aquaculture industries play a vital role in South Korea. Jeju Island is a world-renowned holiday destination and a favorite filming location for Korean dramas. The development of the "Olle Trail" in 2007 has made it a hiker's paradise. In the center of the island is Hallasan, the highest peak in South Korea, formed by a volcanic eruption; the eastern part is home to spectacular natural scenery, and attractions such as Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji are favorites of young couples; the northern part is the traditional old Jeju City, where you can also find authentic Korean traditional markets; the southern part of Seogwipo City is home to interesting museums and resorts that will definitely make you linger.

Day 4 Middle Route: Enjoy the sea at Liqi Hotel (Little Hawaii) - Jeju Sun Pung Hangover Soup (Brunch) - Hanbok Photoshoot - Airport

Day 1 West Route: Enchanted by Coffee, Jelly Sea, and Small Volcanoes

For the 4-day and 3-night itinerary on the island, I chose a chartered car tour with the central line Jeju City circle as the origin, and visited the west line, east line, and south line in turn. Friends who have enough time can also choose to take buses or taxis. Please note that there is no subway on Jeju Island.

📍Aewol-eup: Clear jelly sea, I was moved to tears on my first day on the island

On the first day on the island, we went to Aewol town. We mainly walked along the coastline, took photos, and spent time in cafes. Aewol gave people a very gentle feeling, the waves were also slow, and any street led directly to the sea, creating a very romantic atmosphere.

The long coastline, the endless blue jelly sea, the black reefs, the white sand beach, the green plants, the blue sky, the white clouds and the sunshine are as beautiful as a painting!

Stopping and walking, enjoying the sea breeze and basking in the sun, it's so relaxing! When you're tired, just find a cafe to stop by. Most of the cafes here are lined up along the coastline. Have a dessert, enjoy the sea view, and take beautiful photos. It's really chill!

📍Lazypump: A sea-facing cafe

Lazypump is a 3-storey standalone cafe that was formerly a seafood farm and is now converted into a cafe.

The store's decoration is mainly in the style of industrial ruins. The large glass windows on the 2nd and 3rd floors face the sea and there is a lighthouse on the sea. You can order coffee and desserts, face the sea, and relax your body and mind. With such a beautiful view, you can really sit there for an entire afternoon.

There are large volcanic rock reefs and a piano on the beach in the backyard of the cafe. The aerial photos taken from the 3rd floor are very good, and the "end of the world" apocalyptic style is easily captured.

📍Xinxingyue: Purple grass and sunset orange cars all over the mountain

When we drove down the mountain and left Xinxingyue, we happened to meet a cute orange car at the corner. At this time, the afterglow of the sunset had dyed the sky into layers of orange, and tourists also raised their cameras to take in the beautiful scenery. We couldn't help but stop and ordered some sour and sweet orange juice, watching the sunset slowly set. How I wish time would freeze at this moment.

Day 2 East Route: Watching the Sea and Fish, Stunning Mountains and Sea

The second day's itinerary focused on watching the sea and fish, strolling in the jelly sea, and swimming around the black reefs. Not only did we encounter the beautiful mountains and seas, but we also ate "high-end" sashimi. It can be said that we had a good combination of delicious food and beautiful scenery.

📍Hamdeok: Sunshine, beer, burgers, jelly sea and freedom

Our first stop this morning was Hamdeok Beach. The sunshine, the sand, the jelly sea, and the black rocks were absolutely stunning! We played in the water at the jelly sea, climbed the black rocks, soaked up the warm summer sun, listened to the waves and the wind, and even strolled around the streets doing some shopping.

Finally, we had some delicious burgers and drinks. Having traveled so many countries, this was the first time I'd spent an entire afternoon sitting in a burger restaurant. The decor was Hawaiian-style and beautiful!

The entrance of the store is also artistic and cute. You can see the sea of jelly when you sit in the store. At that moment, I realized that the sense of freedom and relaxation has a form. All worries are thrown behind my mind, without rushing or rushing. I am completely enjoying the freedom and happiness of the moment. This is what life should be like.

You can also take the burgers to the beach in front of the store to eat. Everyone must pay attention to safety when crossing the road. You can also charge for free in the store, which is very thoughtful.

Although this is a hamburger restaurant, it is not American fast food. Instead, the burgers are handmade to order. The black pork burger and shrimp burger are super delicious and must be ordered.

📍AquaPlanet Jeju Aquarium

Today, our second stop was the most beautiful aquarium – Aquaplanet. It was the filming location for the hit Korean drama “The Legend of the Blue Sea”. I really regretted coming here so late!! It’s near Seopjikoji and you can enjoy it firsthand.

Aqura Planet Aquarium has three floors. The main pool on the basement level is the largest in Asia. You can see fish from different angles, just like watching a giant 3D "water curtain" movie. It's so exciting! I really enjoyed the close encounters with the marine life.

There are also ocean-themed performances at different times in the museum, which are very suitable for families with children to watch;

Recently, there is a special exhibition of "Soft Cells" (starring the sweet Kim Go-eun), which is cute and lovely.

📍Shedi Kezhi: Stunning mountain and sea with meadows and black reefs

If I had to visit only one place on Jeju Island, it would definitely be Seopjikoji. It was the most unforgettable experience of my entire trip. The vast Pacific Ocean lay before my eyes, the azure waters crashing against the black rocks, creating a breathtakingly beautiful splash.

The horses are leisurely and contentedly eating grass. The meadows all over the mountains create a unique atmosphere. You can also wait for a sunset here. All the beautiful elements are built together, as if the wind from Northern Ireland has blown here.

I didn't meet many Chinese people here. Almost all of them were Korean locals. It's very local. It is said that this is also the filming location of "Autumn in My Heart".

After enjoying the beautiful sunset, we decided to go back to the city for dinner. On the way, we chose a Korean sashimi restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were really amazed.

📍Oh my god: I had a sashimi dinner with gold foil

The set menu filled up the table. The sashimi platter had several Jeju specialty fish, all in season and super fresh. Not only did it not have any fishy smell, but with different sauces, you could taste different flavors. It was really satisfying! !

The restaurant also decorated it with edible gold foil, which made the food look so luxurious. I really regretted not trying it the last time I came to Korea. When the abalone + conch platter was served, I was also amazed at the huge abalone and conch, with plump and chewy meat. It was a feast for the taste buds. The set meal also included grilled black pork, various fried foods, crab rice, grilled fish, fish soup... Friends who are not used to eating raw food can just drink the hot fish soup to warm their stomachs~

This place can be regarded as the king of cost-effectiveness. The set meal for 5 people we ordered was only 200 per person. Its only drawback is that it is only available in Jeju Island. Hahaha~ Now, it just gives me a reason to come to Jeju Island next time.

Day 3 South Route: Shopping, hiking, chasing the sunset, super wow

On the third day of the trip, we set foot on the southern line. It was still a day accompanied by delicious food and beautiful scenery. The main destination of the day was to take a boat tour of Marado Island and hike to Songak Mountain. On the way, we happened to pass by a souvenir warehouse in the Chinese tourist area. How could we not go shopping? It was a good opportunity to bring some gifts and souvenirs for friends and family.

📍Gifts: A guide to finding souvenirs at gift shops

The souvenir shop is right next to the beach, just a short walk to the seaside. The scenery is stunning! There's also a cafe next to it that's great for taking photos, and there's a large parking lot right at the door.

The souvenirs are all super cute and lovely. This place is simply the IP of Jeju Island - a paradise of oranges 🍊 and camellias.

The shop's decor is like a giant spilled orange juice! The orange hue creates a warm and sweet feeling while browsing, which really makes you feel good! They also have a variety of clothing, accessories, refrigerator magnets, postcards, keychains, music boxes, aromatherapy diffusers, sticky notes, and other small items. There's also the limited edition "Stone Grandpa and Stone Grandma" Black Reef figurines, which were so cute throughout my trip! They're just so adorable! It really touched my heart, and I spent 100,000 Korean won and couldn't stop.

There is also a huge snack area in the store. Xiao Yao bought the Top 1 orange pie. Wow, it’s sour and sweet, super delicious.

It's a massive souvenir warehouse with everything you could possibly want. It's a one-stop shop for all the special gifts you could possibly want. It was such a relief! I ended up buying tons of gifts for friends: fridge magnets, cute little bags, keychains, orange pies... In the end, my large shopping bag was completely overflowing! I really regretted not bringing a suitcase.

📍Food: A roasted black pork restaurant I visit twice every three days

After finishing our shopping, it was almost lunchtime. There was a black pork roast shop near the souvenir shop. We had dinner at Aewol on our first day on the island and couldn't stop thinking about it. So we decided to visit their branch in the Chinese area, Jeju Happy Pig. It's so delicious when you roast it!

The owner, who I think is an e-person, was super enthusiastic. He not only helped us grill the meat, took photos with us, and showed us celebrity autographs (so many celebrities have checked in at his restaurant), but he also opened the freezer to show us the black pork ingredients, mainly to ensure that we could eat it with confidence. Hahaha, he was so cute! !

In addition to barbecue, there are also hot pots. In addition to the barbecue set, the five of us also ordered a kimchi pot, added ramen and fried eggs. The ramen was cooked in the kimchi pot, it was so delicious. The various side dishes, rice balls, and fried eggs in the store are all self-service and unlimited~ There are also Chinese waiters.

Finally, the payment was only 180 per person for the five of us. This meal was so satisfying. After eating, we were full of energy and went on a boat ride + hiking.

The one in the Chinese area is a branch, and the main store is in Aewol. On the first day on the island, after watching the sunset at Xinxingyue, we went to the main store in Aewol for dinner. We ordered a barbecue + fried rice set meal at this store. Although the dishes are slightly different from those in the Chinese area, the taste is always top-notch.

Jeju Island's black pork goes through a fermentation process before being served. The time, temperature, humidity and other conditions are set in advance. Coupled with Jeju Island's natural, pollution-free environment and beautiful scenery, it can be said that every pig is a happy pig~ Hahaha

The meat is super firm and delicious. It is grilled with Jeju Island's special longevity vegetables. It can help you eat meat while also getting rid of the greasiness.

After eating the barbecue, the waiter made cheese fried rice for us, herring roe + kimchi + seaweed + cheese, sweet and sticky ~ Korean romance is really everywhere, even the fried rice is fried into the shape of a heart. There are also various self-service side dishes, unlimited self-service, especially the pickled peppers, which are crispy, sour and spicy, and cool in the mouth. It is my favorite.

📍 Songaksan Mountain Hike: It's like being transported to Scotland

If I had to go to only one place in Jeju Island, it would be Seopji. And if I had to recommend the most amazing scenic spot in Jeju Island, it would definitely be Songaksan Mountain, with its blue sky and white clouds, bright sunshine and azure sea. We walked along the wooden boardwalk by the sea to the top, and it felt like we were in the Scottish Highlands.

We walked and stopped throughout the hike, taking photos. It took us 2 hours to check the weather in advance. We calculated the time and decided to have dinner before sunset at 18:30.

📍After eating grilled fish, I encountered a beautiful sunset, so lucky

We went to a family restaurant near Sanfang Mountain. It was a grilled fish restaurant. There were many local people who had finished climbing and hiking eating in the restaurant. When we saw this scene, we knew we had found the right restaurant, hahahaha

Korean romance is truly everywhere. Even the grilled fish was presented in a heart shape. The fish was very fresh. In addition to the grilled fish, there was also a spicy mackerel hot pot. The buffet side dishes were more than enough for the five of us. We ordered the grilled fish + hot pot set meal, and the price per person was less than a hundred yuan, which is very cost-effective.

It was also great to take photos inside the store and at the entrance of the shop, and I was able to capture some photos of the sunset atmosphere.

Day 4 mid-line: Korean clothing photo shoot, one-day Korean princess

The last day in Jeju Island was relatively relaxing. I slept until I woke up naturally, then went out for brunch. Then, I had to take some photos of Korea that I hadn’t taken in Seoul before.

📍Brunch: Encountering a celebrity-frequented soup restaurant

We chose a place for brunch near the airport. Actually, we chose a soup restaurant blindly. As soon as we walked in, we were attracted by the photos on the wall. There were our own Dicky Cheung and many Korean stars.

The restaurant is quite large, with a wide selection of set meals. We ordered the live abalone seafood hot pot, which came with a large table of side dishes and pork bone ramen. Their most classic dishes are the hangover soup and beef soup rice, which were warm and satisfying.

Listen to me, when you come to Jeju Island, you must take a set of Korean photos. After all, Jeju Island also has a lot of ancient buildings!

[About accommodation] The hotel with the sea view through the window is only 170 per person

The hotel we stayed at this time, Rich Hotel, is located in the central Jeju city area. The name literally means "too rich" (not too expensive) hahahaha!!

The suite we three girls booked was very large, with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2 living rooms.

The large floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room let in great light, and the bathroom, equipped with a bathtub, is perfect for travelers tired from traveling. The balcony view is also amazing. Outside the window is the blue sky, white clouds, the sea, and the small single-family house. The landscape is very American-style neighborhoods, and it really feels like being on the West Coast or in Hawaii. Sitting on the balcony in the morning, drinking coffee and looking at the scenery is so comfortable~

The hotel is right outside the sea, you can take a walk to the beach, enjoy the sea breeze and see the scenery. There is a CU convenience store and Starbucks within 50 meters of the hotel. The view from the second-floor balcony of Starbucks is also super beautiful. We bought Starbucks takeout in the morning and drank it while taking a walk to the beach.

Conclusion

This 4-day tour around Jeju Island was so fun, so delicious, so beautiful, so free, and so relaxing! Of course, not being able to go to Marado Island was a regret of this trip, but isn’t this just a reason to come back next time?
