It boasts Asia's largest transnational waterfall,
accounts for one-fifth of China's sugarcane production,
and is known as "China's Sweetest City." It also boasts
China's first rock art World Heritage site,
a French-style train station without trains. These unique mountains
and beautiful waters were carefully selected by Xu Xiake, the first travel expert.

This is the only habitat in China for the white-headed langur, a monkey even rarer than the giant panda
. Bordering Vietnam, it stretches over 500 kilometers. Zhuang
customs and Vietnamese culture intertwine. With
an average winter temperature between 17° and 25°,
it's a perfect place to escape the cold.

Nestled among mountains and rivers, this small city in China's southwestern borderland
is like a paradise, exuding exotic charm and
quietly telling the story of the China-Vietnam border.
This is Chongzuo, the youngest prefecture-level city in Guangxi.

Only 2 hours’ drive from Nanning, Guangxi
You can start your journey immediately without the hassle of traveling
. Pack your bags and follow Xiaoxia
to explore this low-key and niche treasure land!
Do you know where Guangxi’s earliest
railway station, customs, foreign affairs school, highway
consulate, railway bureau, telegraph office... are?
The answer lies in Longzhou County, Chongzuo City, hidden among the mountains and rivers.
These "earliest" are closely related to a war.

©Tingzai's Pandora
After the Sino-French War of 1885,
China and France signed the Sino-French Treaty of Vietnam in Tianjin,
opening Longzhou as a trading port
and planning to build a railway to Vietnam.
However, due to disagreements with the Qing government over track width and other issues, the railway was not successfully built.

Although the train was lost
, the idle railway station building was not abandoned.
It was transformed into the French Consulate in Longzhou and
completed its mission in August 1949.
The vicissitudes of life in the buildings have witnessed the rise and fall of this small border
town.
It seems that you can still see the French style from more than 100 years ago.

Chongzuo has a distinct subtropical monsoon climate with
rain and heat in the same season, a long frost-free period, and large temperature differences between day and night.
This climate is very suitable for the growth of sugarcane.
The unique geographical conditions give
the sugarcane here a high sugar content.

Therefore, Chongzuo has become the largest sugarcane planting
area and sugar production base in China, and its sugar production has ranked first in the country for 21 consecutive years. It
is a veritable "sugar jar" and is known as the "Sugar Capital of China".

From November to April of the following year,
Chongzuo's sugar-making season arrives as scheduled.
The fields are piled with neatly stacked sugarcane,
and trucks loaded with sugarcane are coming and going
in an endless stream. The sweet aroma permeates the air
. It is truly sweet from the beginning of the year to the end!

The cliffs stretching over 260 kilometers along the banks of the Zuojiang River
are dotted with large rock paintings dating back 2,000 years.
Known as the "Dunhuang on the Cliff," it
is also China's first rock painting World Cultural Heritage.

The countless ochre-red portraits painted on the cliffs by the ancients, using the cliffs as canvas,
show the life stories of the Zhuang ancestors thousands of years ago.
Thousands of years later, they are still bright and eye-catching, full of mystery.

The Song Dynasty's "Continuation of Bowuzhi" once recorded:
"There are ghostly figures on the stone walls of the deep creeks in the two Guangs, like a light ink
painting of a boatman. They are regarded as their ancestors, and sacrifices are made without delay." If
the ancients sailed here and saw the several-meter-high red portraits,
they would inevitably be surprised and amazed!
To this day, there are still many unsolved mysteries about these rock paintings.
How did the ancients create them on the cliffs?

They are named after the white hair on their heads

In this largest home of white-headed langurs,
they use karst peaks as their habitat and
sleep in hidden cliff caves at night.
Early morning and afternoon are the best times to encounter them.
At this time, the monkeys will come down the mountain to look for food and are more active.
