While road trips offer freedom, they can also come with their fair share of pitfalls! Think self-driving equals freedom? No! You have to figure out your route, hotels, and meals all by yourself, and it can feel even more tiring than working!

Let me first share some road trip pitfalls to help you avoid them and have a happy trip! Comment at the end of the article for a prize, so everyone is welcome to participate!

Road Trip Lightning Avoidance Guide

【Car rental and self-driving】Possible pitfalls

1. You need to make your own strategy and spend a lot of time and energy on preparation, but working people don’t have that much free time.

2. If you rent a car and drive yourself, it is expensive to return the car to a different location, and you also have to consider whether to drive it back, which requires a lot of back-and-forth.

3. If you are not familiar with the road conditions when renting a car and only rely on navigation, you will miss a lot of beautiful scenery.

4. You are not familiar with the condition of the rented car, and it takes a lot of time and energy to adapt to it, which also increases the risk.

5. There are many tricks in car rental insurance. They will persuade you to buy the most expensive insurance, but if an accident happens, you will have to pay for the lost wages yourself.

6. You have to drive yourself when you rent a car. Not many people can drive, and those who drive for a long time will not have the energy to play when they arrive at the scenic spot.

7. Refueling & parking anxiety: I don’t know where to refuel, nor do I know where to park to see the most beautiful scenery.

8. If you encounter any unexpected situations on the road, it is difficult to have a good alternative plan because you don’t have enough knowledge about the destination.

9. If the car breaks down, rescue is difficult or there is no signal, you will lose all the fun!

10. You are unfamiliar with the place and it is difficult to avoid many pitfalls. The experience of making your own travel guide VS having a local guide you is completely different.

11. Food is also a part of traveling. It is difficult to find delicious food when traveling by car, and you may also be hurt by the prices.

12. Count the money every day, how much money was spent today, how much per person, and what needs to be shared... count until you go bald.

[Find a driver and rent a car yourself] Potential pitfalls

1. It is difficult to find a good driver, and it is even more difficult to find a cost-effective and worry-free one. Capable masters have already booked their tours fully.

2. Chartering a car is expensive. If there are only 1-2 people, you need to find a companion, and it is difficult to find someone you can play with.

3. If you encounter an unreliable driver, he may increase the fare halfway, and you will also have to pay extra if you go to one more place or play for a longer time.

4. The driver may be lazy and not let you into some places, or not go to some good places unless you tell him.

5. It is expensive to book accommodation by yourself, and you also have to book accommodation for the driver yourself, so the room price is not competitive.

6. The driver takes the passengers to a "kickback store" to eat or spend money, and they are ripped off without realizing it.

7. Driver experience is also a blind box. When you meet a novice master, he can only drive and doesn’t know how to play.

8. It is difficult to protect your rights. When you encounter difficulties or problems, it is difficult to change drivers or protect your rights. If you are cheated, you can only swallow your anger.
