Guangdong's Little Jiuzhaigou | Enjoy river tracing and a fresh river feast at Zhaoqing's Ziyun Valley

Day 1 Guangzhou → Ziyun Valley → Guangzhou

08:00

Meet and sign in at Exit B of Kecun Subway Station. Please look for the yellow China-TravelNote flag.

08:30

We set off on time. After the tour leader introduced the itinerary and precautions, he led everyone to play fun ice-breaking games and drove all the way to Zhaoqing.

10:00

Arriving at the entrance of Ziyun Valley Scenic Area, we lined up for a boat ride to the canyon opposite the West River, where the surging waters create picturesque scenery. Entering the scenic area, we began our beautiful journey. After a brief warm-up in the square, we collected our tickets and entered the park. Before lunch, we explored the lake island, the old pit cave, and the mountain and water spring world. The pool, visible at the foot of the mountain, was a breathtaking emerald green.

12:00

After lunch and a short rest, we'll begin our hike deeper into the canyon around 12:40 PM. We'll walk across a suspension bridge, climb stone steps, and cross a wind and rain bridge, a characteristic Dong ethnic group structure (a mirror-like blue lake rises upstream, and a cascading waterfall descends downstream). We'll then reach a cluster of ancient stone mills and enter a secluded bamboo forest, where clusters of bamboo and a gurgling stream appear. Restrooms are located a little further up. From there, you can choose to hike upstream or stroll along the paths through the bamboo forest. Find a suitable pool to soak in and cool off, kicking off summer time the right way. Then, we'll return to the square.

4:00 PM

Gather at the starting point square and take the ferry back to the parking lot after about half an hour

5:00 PM

We boarded the bus back to Guangzhou, looked out over Ziyun Valley, and said goodbye. We arrived at Guangzhou Kecun around 19:30, ending a refreshing summer day. We each went home. Don't forget to record your day's impressions in the comment section of the platform. See you next time, tourists!

Driving time: one way within 2 hours

Hiking: 5km light hike, mainly water activities, with less climbing

Note: Tourists planning to get wet in the water should remember to bring an extra change of clothes and slippers.

Ziyun Valley is located in Lanke Mountain, southeast of Dinghu District, Zhaoqing City, within the Xijiang Lingyang Gorge Provincial Nature Reserve. Arriving by ferry, you feel transported to a paradise, where crystal-clear waters flow beneath your feet. Moss-covered cliffs loom nearby, while lush bamboo forests and hillsides covered in wildflowers fill your view. Other attractions include boulders suspended in mid-air, the sun's shadows, the soothing chirping of cicadas and birds, and the intoxicating breeze... The tranquil scenery shifts endlessly, leaving you breathtakingly captivated. Numerous pools, grotesque rocks, and pearly water formations create a unique natural landscape. Explore the stream, search for jade and gold, and journey upstream past numerous natural landscapes and waterfalls. Tianqing Pond, Tiaojian Pond, the Zibei Tiankui Nature Reserve, Shengui Pond, and Bingwen Pond blend seamlessly into nature. Phoenix Rock, Guta Rock, Xuande Rock, Chaotian Rock, and Mazikeng are surrounded by green mountains, winding green mountains, and green waters, just like a natural picture.
