Day 1 Shanghai → Lingyan Mountain → Tianping Mountain → Shanghai

All day

07:45-08:00 Meet at the designated location of China-TravelNote and sign in. Depart at 08:00 sharp, enjoy onboard interaction and itinerary introductions, and have fun all the way!

Around 10:30, we went up Lingyan Mountain, where huge rocks stood on the top and we could see the city of Gusu in the distance.

On the way, we will have a short rope-assisted descent, which is not difficult and very interesting (rope descent data: length is about 10 meters, inclination is about 50 degrees, the above data is for reference only). You can also go down the slope on the side, but it is slippery.

Then head to Tianping Mountain. If you are physically exhausted, you can descend to the Tianping Mountain Scenic Area according to the leader's instructions after rappelling (the descent route is about 4km away).

As the journey progresses, we will pass through a section of road with a barbed wire mesh. Please be careful when passing by it (if you mind the barbed wire mesh, you can take the descending route)

In the depths of autumn in southern China, the autumn colors of Tianping Mountain are at their most romantic. A vast maple forest stands in front of the mountain, planted over 400 years ago by Fan Yunlin (a descendant of Fan Zhongyan) from Fujian during the Ming Dynasty. In late autumn and early winter, the forests are ablaze with color, earning the nickname "a thousand-foot crimson glow." This has earned the fame of "Viewing Maple Trees in Tianping," a spot renowned far and wide.

In addition to enjoying the red leaves, we can also visit historical sites. At the entrance to the mountain, there is the "Gao Yi Garden" archway bestowed by Emperor Qianlong, the reception pavilion, the Imperial Stele Pavilion in the ancient maple forest on the west side of the ancient Jingtang, and the Fan Wencheng Martyr Temple. We

will board the bus and return home around 16:30.

We returned to the departure point in Shanghai around 18:00. Everyone was still reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes!

This route is a reverse-crossing route. Ticket inspections are strict this year. Tianping Mountain Scenic Area requires an additional 30 yuan per person for admission.
This route has a section of rope-assisted descent, so it is not a leisure route. Please be careful to identify it.

According to feedback, Tianping Mountain is extremely popular at the end of November 2024. There will be traffic jams on the return trip on weekends, and the return trip to Shanghai will be delayed from the original 2.5 hours to 4 hours. Based on feedback from previous groups, we expect to arrive in Shanghai around 8:00 am. If you mind, please register carefully!
Due to the changeable weather in autumn, the viewing experience of maple leaves will vary from group to group. However, the scenery of Tianping Mountain is beautiful at any time. Tourists are advised to participate in the autumn viewing activity with a positive attitude to appreciate the diverse changes of nature.

Driving time: 2.5 hours (During the peak period, the driving time will be delayed by 4 hours)

Hiking: The whole journey is about 7km, with an ascent of 400+ meters. There is a rope to assist in descending the mountain.

Located southwest of Suzhou's ancient city, on the shores of Taihu Lake, Suzhou's Tianping Mountain Scenic Area is the core scenic area of the Taihu National Scenic Area, known as "the first mountain in Wuzhong" and "the most beautiful scenery in Jiangnan." Standing at 201 meters above sea level, Tianping Mountain boasts a steep and precipitous terrain. Anciently known as Baiyun Mountain and Ci Mountain, it is the burial place of the ancestors of Fan Zhongyan, a renowned official of the Northern Song Dynasty. The scenic area, covering nearly 100 hectares, is renowned for its three
unique features: red maples, unique rocks, and clear springs. It boasts eighteen scenic spots, including "Ten Thousand Tablets Pointing to the Sky," "High Righteousness and Greenery," "A Thousand Feet of Red Clouds," and "The Gentle Sound of Jade Springs." Tianping Mountain is one of the three best spots in China for viewing maple leaves. The ancient maple trees from the Ming Dynasty have triangular leaves and tall trunks, unlike the red maples of Jiangnan. One tree within the Fan Gong Temple stands approximately 27 meters tall, so tall that it would take three people to hug it. In front of the tomb of the Third Master, there are nine large maple trees, named Nine Red Branches. In autumn, the leaves change from green to yellow, orange, red, and purple, and are called Five-Colored Maple. Some also appear in light crimson, golden yellow, orange, and orange-red. In late autumn, when you climb the White Cloud Maple Terrace and gaze out, you will see a sea of coral and a sea of red clouds.
