Climb to Tianchi Lake in western Zhejiang, travel through Tianlong Grand Canyon, and visit the Huangshiyan Waterfalls

Day 1 Shanghai → Tianlong Grand Canyon → Tianchi Lake in Western Zhejiang → Wuyue Ancient Trail

All day

At 12:00 PM, we met at the Mingshen Center Building, 3131 Kaixuan Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, and signed in. We boarded the bus and departed at 12:30 PM. Along the way, staff explained the different functions of outdoor sports equipment and arranged games to keep everyone entertained.

We arrived at a farmhouse at the foot of the Wuyue Ancient Trail in Ningguo around 5:30 PM and settled into our room to rest. We then had lunch. After lunch and rest, we headed to Tianlong Grand Canyon, officially embarking on the ancient trail and beginning our night hike.

We began our hike at 7:00 PM. Today's hike was quite long. We ascended the Tianlong Grand Canyon, crossing into Zhejiang Province for about two hours before reaching Qianqing Pass. The ancient city walls, now reduced to ruins, were a sight to behold. In the dim afterglow, one could sense the vicissitudes of history. With another step, the view suddenly widened, a sense of grandeur and awe. The Tianchi Lake in western Zhejiang, situated at an altitude of 1,140 meters, appeared before the tourists. Spanning a thousand hectares and surrounded by towering mountains, it resembles a vast, divine lake, a heavenly realm floating in the air.
Tourists lingered, enjoying the tranquil night or gazing at the starry sky, taking in the vastness of the stars. Afterward, we exited the Tianchi scenic area and descended along the Wuyue Ancient Trail. The hike concluded around 11:30 PM. For those hungry, a bowl of small, home-style noodles is a satisfying and easy-to-digest dish. It was already late, so the tourists quickly washed up and went to bed.

Day 2 Huangshiyan Waterfalls → Ningguo → Shanghai

All day

I slept until I woke up naturally in the morning, got up at 9:00 to have breakfast, and headed to the Yellowstone Falls at 9:30 with light luggage. I walked along the mountain stream path and took a small loop. There were two small rock walls in the middle that I needed to climb. I experienced the joy of using my hands and feet. It took about 3 hours.

At about 12:30, we returned to the local farmer's house, where a delicious meal was waiting for us.

Around 13:30, we boarded the bus back to Shanghai.
At around 19:00, we returned to the starting point in the city. Everyone was still reluctant to leave and said goodbye with tears in their eyes.

Note: Today's total distance is 3.5 km

The Wuyue Ancient Trail is approximately 35 kilometers long, with 15 kilometers remaining intact. It served as the primary route between Wuyue (Zhejiang) and Southern Tang (Anhui) during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Ascending the stone steps along the Wuyue Ancient Trail, you'll be met by streams and waterfalls, winding through secluded paths, undulating and winding, creating a sense of unity between heaven and earth, a journey like a journey through a painting. It takes about 2-3 hours to reach Qianqing Pass, a natural gate formed by two massive, smooth granite slabs. Standing like a gate, this natural stone gate stands nearly 4 meters high, 3 meters thick, and wide enough for two people to walk side by side. Its imposing presence is like "one man guarding the pass, ten thousand cannot break through." Climb the stone gate and push aside the branches above to reveal the undulating stone walls on either side, revealing the ancient city walls. Qianqing Pass, along with Qianqiu Pass and Yuling Pass, are known as the Three Passes of Northern Zhejiang, crucial gateways protecting the Wuyue capital of Lin'an. About 400 meters further on lies Tianchi Lake in Western Zhejiang, known as the "First Pool of Jiangnan." Nestled atop Qianqing Mountain at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the breathtakingly beautiful Tianchi Lake in Western Zhejiang boasts a breathtakingly clear, deep blue water, blending seamlessly with the sky. The gently sloping hills offer expansive views, making it the primary habitat for the sika deer, a nationally protected species. Surrounded by low mountains, lush grasses, gurgling springs, and crisscrossing streams, the lake forms a vast basin in its center, creating a scene of mountains grazing on Qianqing Mountain and water flowing into the lake. Covering 900 mu (approximately 1,000 mu), Tianchi Lake in Western Zhejiang is one of the highest and largest lakes in Jiangnan. It can be described as "a vast divine pond, a mirror of the sky floating in the air."
