Autumn classic: Chishan Lake, a bird paradise | Only 1.5 hours by car

Day 1 Nanjing → Chishan Lake Wetland Park → Nanjing

All day

From 08:15 to 08:30, we gathered and signed in at Exit 4 of Andemen Station on Nanjing Metro Line 1, where we saw the yellow China-TravelNote flag.

We will set off on time at 08:30. On the bus, the tour leader will arrange for everyone to introduce themselves, play interactive games, and have fun laughing along the way!

Arrive at Chishan Lake Wetland Park around 10:00 AM. Stroll along the riverbank that borders Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, all the way to the Anhui Pier. Enter the Multimedia Room and watch a promotional video about Chishan Lake, showcasing the diverse scenery of the beautiful park throughout the four seasons. Stroll along the Chishan Plank Road and admire the Small Chishan Forest. Strolling along the Chishan Plank Road, you'll find yourself deep in the forest, breathing in the pure, healthy air, admiring the graceful reflections in the water, and listening to the chirping birds. Experience the delightful journey of strolling through the forest, like being in an oxygen bar.

Enjoy a meal on your own at an appropriate time. After the rest, pass by the lotus pond and cross the corridor to the place where you can watch the release of red-crowned cranes. Visit the [Crocodile Pond], [Alpaca Garden], [Swan Lake], [Pine Crane Island], etc.

Then we took a boat tour to explore the [Big Pond Cypress Forest]. The pond cypress forest is a rare water forest resource in China. It is currently the largest pond cypress forest in East China and a cormorant paradise in winter.

Walk to Anhui Wharf and take a boat. On the boat, you can watch the wonderful osprey show. It is very satisfying to watch the ospreys take fish out of the water.

Throughout the wetland park, we slowed down time and took our time to appreciate and photograph.

Return to the departure point in Nanjing at around 16:00, and arrive at the departure point in Nanjing around 17:30.

Driving time: about 1.5 hours

[Chishan Lake Wetland Park] This wetland park on the border of Jiangsu and Anhui provinces has become a hit. In late autumn and early winter, thousands of acres of pond cypress trees, nestled on the water, transform into vibrant new growths, a vibrant hue of red. Flocks of waterfowl frolic on the lake, and lush reeds sway in the wind, creating a vibrant, almost bird-like paradise. It's truly breathtaking!

Anhui Chishan Lake Provincial Wetland Park is located in Huangdawei, Yangdu Village, Leiguan Town, in eastern Lai'an County, adjacent to Liuhe District, Jiangsu Province, and 38 kilometers from Nanjing. Situated on the north bank of the Chu River, a primary tributary of the Yangtze River, and on the east bank of the Xiangyang River, a Chu River tributary, the park encompasses a 143.2-hectare area encompassing forest swamps, herbaceous swamps, riverine wetlands, canals, reservoirs, ponds, and paddy fields.
