Exploring the Earth's Core: Jilong Mountain | 2-Day Exploration of Wolong Cave

Day 1 Nanjing → Jilong Mountain

06:45

06:45-07:00 Meet at Exit 1 of Andemen Station, Nanjing Metro Line 1

07:00

We boarded the bus on time and set off. The tour leader led the interaction, introduced himself and explained the itinerary. We laughed and chatted all the way to our destination.

12:30

Arrive near the destination, rest and have lunch.

We began our rappelling journey, reaching a cliff with a 37-meter drop. Listen carefully to the guide's instructions for rappelling; don't slack off, or you'll be thrown into the valley to feed the wild boars! After learning the ropes, we donned our gear and began descending.

The 37-meter cliff rappelling allows you to truly experience being a "Spider-Man". When the wind whistles past your ears, you will understand what speed and passion in the air are.

7:30 PM

Ding, ding, ding... Light the bonfire, bang the pots and pans, get the barbecue started, it's time for fun! Let's have fun, sing and dance until the earth trembles.

Driving time: 5-6 hours

Notes: 1. Camping is included in this activity. Tents are provided by the locals and are included in the fee. One tent can sleep two people. If you are alone and do not want to share a tent, you need to pay an additional 40 yuan per person to sleep in one tent. Please note this when registering;
2. Outdoor sleeping bags and clean bedding are provided as bedding. It is a bit cold in the mountains at night. It is recommended to sleep in clothes. Students with mysophobia can bring their own sleeping bags.
3. Caving is exciting and cool. Please remember to bring light sources such as headlamps and flashlights, and prepare extra pairs of socks. It is recommended to wear river tracing shoes when caving. If you don’t have them, the locals will provide liberation shoes.

Day 2 Jilongshan → Nanjing

07:30

The air in the mountains in the early morning is particularly fresh. After we get up, wash, and pack up, we have a farmer's breakfast.

08:00

We packed our bags and, led by our team leader and guide, headed for the steep slope of Leopard Cliff. Experience the thrill of wall-climbing on a 70-degree slope – a feat only we could muster. Arriving at the mountain camp, the team rested briefly before unpacking our belongings. We then embarked on our courage-boosting adventure: Wolong Cave. Donning our caving gear, our team leader and guide led us on an exciting and challenging cave exploration, witnessing diverse stalactites and hearing the eerie sound of dripping water. Compared to Jinniu Cave, Wolong Cave is a water-filled cave, descending deeper, darker, and with more currents. The hike was also longer, taking about two hours. By then, everyone was undoubtedly hungry, so we enjoyed lunch at a farmhouse at the mountain campsite (we had pre-registered with our team leader).

13:00

After lunch, we will go down the mountain along the path. Friends who do not want to hike down the mountain can choose to hire a car to go down the mountain and wait for the rendezvous at the foot of the mountain. The cost is at their own expense.

2:40 PM

Arriving at Jinniu Cave, this can be called a dry cave with a relatively open space. The Jesus light at the entrance of the cave is the location of the concave shape. It took about 30 minutes to get out of the cave and then go down the mountain.

3:30 PM

We got on the bus and returned, saying goodbye to the local tour leader and Jilong Mountain.

9:00 PM

When we arrived at the departure point in Nanjing, everyone was still reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes!

Driving time: about 5.5 hours

Note: Caving often requires wading, so please bring your own sports shoes or river trekking shoes

Jilong Mountain, located in Tonglu, Hangzhou, borders the Yaolin Fairyland and the Tianmu River. This scenic mountain retreat, meandering through prehistoric caves, offers a breathtaking natural landscape. The scenic Jilong Mountain and the precipitous Baizhang Rock, with a slope of nearly 60 degrees, offer a classic karst landscape. Standing 818 meters above sea level, Jilong Mountain lies within an exposed zone of alpine rock and lava, where a profusion of rocky peaks dominate. Some stand alone, resembling sculptures, while others curve like waves. Peaks, pillars, ravines, stalagmites, and stone gates interspersed in a staggered pattern, connected by winding paths, create a sense of stepping into a stone maze.
