Day 1 Pingxiang Railway Station → Shenzi Village → Tieti Peak → Jinding → Diaoma Village

All day

Meeting point 1: Pingxiang Railway Station
Meeting point 2: Pingxiang North Railway Station Exit Square

09:00

Arrive at the starting point for the hike. This is a quiet little village hidden deep in the mountains. At the village entrance, your tour leader will lead a warm-up exercise, and after packing up, you'll begin the hike. Along the way, you'll find small supply shops where you can refill your water or drinks (open during peak season, but closed during off-season). After a quick lunch at Tieti Peak (or a simple meal of noodles or fried rice at the Tieti Peak Inn—check with your tour leader in advance for availability), you'll continue on to Jinding. The alpine meadows from Tieti Peak to Jinding rival the spectacular scenery of the peak section from Fayunjie to Jinding, reaching Jinding in approximately 2.5 hours.

13:00

Arriving at Tieti Peak, the view suddenly opens up, offering views of the vast alpine meadows of Wugong Mountain. Standing at 1,846 meters, Tieti Peak is dotted with strangely shaped rocks, resembling a gigantic steed treading upon a sea of clouds. Composed of granite, the peak's varying resistance to erosion creates a unique, striking appearance with sharp corners and clean lines. The peak is named Tieti Peak because it resembles the hoof of a warhorse.

3:00 PM

Arriving at the Golden Summit of Wugong Mountain, our accommodation for the night is Diaoma Village. We check in, queue up for a shower, and wait for the sunset at Wugong Mountain.

Photography enthusiasts can wait to capture the vast starry sky. Rest early, as the next day's itinerary will be quite intense.
Note: You can charge your phone at night at the inn; please bring a power bank .

Day 2: Diaoma Village → Guanyin Dang → Despair Slope → Qianzhang Rock → Fayunjie → Shen Family Courtyard Accommodation

06:00

At dawn, rise to watch the sunrise over the sea of clouds. The Wugong Mountain sunrise over the sea of clouds is one of the highlights of the day. Sunrise is highly likely on a clear morning, with the sea of clouds appearing after rain. Watch the sunrise from the hillside opposite the inn entrance.
[Sunrise times vary depending on the season: earlier in spring and summer, later in autumn and winter.]
After breakfast, pack your bags and prepare to depart for Fayunjie. Enjoy a light lunch along the way or at a stopover inn. Stop at inns along the way for convenient water refills. Fayunjie, located in Longshan Township, stands at 1,628 meters above sea level. It is the second highest peak in the Wugong Mountain range and is renowned for its spectacular alpine meadows. A scenic and undeveloped ecological attraction, the lush green stretches stretching over hundreds of thousands of acres, creating a breathtaking scene. From Jinding to Fayunjie, the breathtaking alpine meadow scenery stretches over 10 kilometers, enough to transport the soul to heaven. However, the long mountain road is a purgatory, testing both physical and mental strength. When hiking on Wugong Mountain, if you look up you can enter heaven, and if you look down you are walking into hell. It is destined to be a journey that constantly travels between heaven and hell.

Today's hiking section is the essence of Wugong Mountain, the alpine meadow area of Wugong Mountain.

2:00 PM

Arrive at Fayunjie. The large meadows at Fayunjie are perfect for photography. Continue hiking towards the Shen Family Compound.

6:00 PM

Arrange accommodation and eat at the inn restaurant on a AA basis.
Daylight hours are shorter in autumn and winter, so you may need to travel at night, so please bring lighting.

The hike is approximately 17 kilometers, following the ridgeline and hump. It's quite strenuous. There are few supply points along the way, and most of the inns have been demolished. Accommodation at the inns is limited, with electricity only available for a limited time. Please charge your batteries promptly.

Note: Today's itinerary is quite intense, especially the second half. The road from Fayunjie to Shenjiayuan is surrounded by dense forests, and the road conditions are not as good as before.

Day 3: Inn → Yangsimu → Train → Mingyue Mountain → Yichun Railway Station

All day

At dawn, I got up and packed my luggage and equipment.

07:00

After breakfast, we packed up and prepared to depart for Yangsimu. The road from Fayunjie to Yangsimu is through small wooded areas, and the conditions are average. Some sections require navigating on foot. Unlike the alpine meadows of Wugong Mountain, the Yangsimu Scenic Area is dominated by granite peaks and forests, offering a diverse and magnificent landscape. Key features include "strange peaks and rocks, cascading springs and waterfalls, vibrant mountain flowers, a dreamlike sea of clouds, and rime and snow." The peaks, overlapping and lush, offer a breathtaking backdrop, each shrouded in lush greenery. The Buddha's light, sea of clouds, sunrises, and sunsets create a breathtaking spectacle, akin to entering a fairyland.

11:30

Arrive at Yangsimu train and take the train to Mingyue Mountain

1:30 PM

Arrive at the top of Mingyue Mountain and take the cable car down the mountain.

3:00 PM

After descending the mountain, we took a train to Yichun Station, arriving around 3:00 PM.
We each returned home, sharing a tearful goodbye at the train station.
We recommend purchasing a return ticket from Yichun Station after 3:00 PM.

Driving distance: about 40 kilometers, 1 hour

Hiking: The hiking distance is about 16 kilometers. The descent of Mingyue Mountain is all stairs, so it is recommended to take the cable car down the mountain.

Note: The fee does not include the Yangsimu Scenic Area ticket, 120 yuan/person, which is generally not incurred. You can choose an outdoor route here, which takes about 1 hour; the fee does not include: Yangsimu train fee, 50 yuan/person; Mingyue Mountain downhill cable car: about 70 yuan.
Today's hiking distance: about 16 kilometers, there are no supply points in the middle, and you need to bring enough water.

Wugong Mountain: Xu Xiake, a Ming Dynasty geographer and traveler, braved the bitter cold and snow even in his fifties to ascend White Crane Peak on the Spring Festival of the ninth year of the Chongzhen reign. He spent six days surveying the mountain's landscapes, ancient customs, and people, and composing his voluminous, multi-thousand-word "Jiangyou Travel Diary." Unable to contain his heartfelt admiration for Wugong Mountain, the great traveler penned the refreshingly beautiful poem "Wugong Travel": "A thousand peaks rise like emerald jade hairpins, the Five Ridges rival Wugong Mountain. The sun-drenched scenery resembles a golden shroud, and visitors walk amidst the shimmering clouds." Wugong Mountain is particularly spectacular for its 100,000-acre alpine meadows in the Jinding White Crane Peak Scenic Area and the Longtan Waterfall in the Santianmen Scenic Area. The towering peaks resemble majestic lions, their eyes wide open, guarding Wugong. The Longtan Waterfall is unfathomable, cascading down in three folds, sending up a shower of water before cascading into the Qingtan Pond with a deafening roar. The first huge color photo in the main hall of the Jiangxi Pavilion at the Kunming World Expo is the alpine meadow of Wugong Mountain. The mountains are majestic, the grass is lush, the mountains overlap, and white clouds float over the large area of green meadow. It has become a unique and spectacular natural landscape in Wugong Mountain National Forest Park.
