Day 2 Gongyu → Linkeng → Baita Town → Hangzhou

·morning

For those who want to watch the sunrise, get up early! (Bring your headlamp!) Xianju Gongyu, known as the "Shangri-La of East China," is nestled high in the mountains at an altitude of 600 meters. Surrounded by breathtaking peaks, peaks peaking around 1000 meters, the village forms a small basin surrounded by these peaks. Climbing to Gongyubei, a footpath south of the village, offers breathtaking views. This hike requires teamwork, so be sure to help each other! From Gongyubei, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the winding peaks, with Gongyu Village, nestled among terraced fields, just below you. The sun slowly rises in the east, creating a dazzling radiance and a sea of clouds, immersing you in a fairyland!

The round-trip hike to Shanggongyubei involves a 3.5-kilometer hike with a 350-meter ascent. If you do not wish to view the sunrise, you can rest at a farmhouse. The sunrise tour is subject to weather conditions and will be canceled if the weather is poor or if it rains.

5:00 PM

When we arrived in Hangzhou, everyone was still reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes.

Driving time: about 4 hours

Hiking: About 5 kilometers of hiking, climbing 150 meters; Gongyubei sunrise requires going up and down the original route, and another 3.5 kilometers of hiking, climbing 350 meters.

Note: Sunrise depends on weather conditions. You need to get up early and use a headlamp. Use a rope to climb up the Gongyu back. Be careful when it gets dark.

Xianju Gongyu: Famous for its towering heights, its multi-tiered terrain forms a terraced formation, reaching an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters. The entire Gongyu area stands majestically, imposing and majestic, with cliff after cliff stretching endlessly. Each peak stands apart, forming its own distinct entity, and the stone forests and cliffs each possess their own unique charm. Key attractions include: Ke Jiusi's former residence; Twenty-four Lang; Gongyu Cliff; Bamboo Forest; Shenlong Waterfall; Twin Lions Guarding the Heavenly Gate; Dragon Mother Cave; Flagpole Rock; and Xiaolongmen. Shenlong Waterfall: Located within the Gongyu Scenic Area, upstream from Xixiaxi Village, it boasts an elegant setting and unique creek rocks. Shenlong Waterfall has four folds and three pools, reaching a height of 70 to 80 meters. Each waterfall and pool offers unique and captivating scenery. The first bend, over 20 meters long, depicts a suspended flying horse, rocks spurting out shattered jade, and ravines pouring icy ice. The middle section, over 40 meters long, arcs down like a curtain, thundering and moving like a silver dragon, scattering pearls and jade, like a thousand-foot-long white silk hanging into a circular, 10-meter-deep, azure lake. The third bend, flowing gracefully into the embrace of the boulder, slowly descends, winding into the Three Pools, winding and flowing gracefully. At the base of the waterfall, a rising sky-high pillar rises. Hearing the sound of the waterfall, observing the scenery, and even bathing in it is truly refreshing.

A Bite of Xianju: Foodies spotted the Gongyu Scenic Area in Xianju in the heartwarming trailer for the third season of "A Bite of China," which returned after a four-year hiatus. And sure enough, last night's fourth episode, "Food for Nourishment," featured nostalgic Xianju dishes—chicken stewed in aged wine, pig's feet with Polygonatum sibiricum, bacon with houttuynia cordata, lotus seeds with wormwood leaves, tofu with mugwort leaves, and chicken with pig's stomach.
