07:30

Depart on time (please do not be late). The team leader will introduce the itinerary, and the team members will introduce themselves, with laughter and joy all the way.

11:00

Go to the gathering point by Taihu Lake, choose your bikes, and have a group briefing on the itinerary and cycling precautions. After warming up, set off together.

12:00

We crossed the Ring Road around the lake, crossed three bridges over Taihu Lake, and cycled through a quiet reed marsh to the hidden Dongcun Ancient Village. Little known and rarely visited, it's remarkably well-preserved. Here, you can visit the magnificent mansion where Emperor Qianlong once hid his mistresses. The village, nestled against green mountains to the south and facing Taihu Lake to the north, offers a tranquil and soothing atmosphere unmatched by other villages.

13:00

We rode a section of the track-level road around the lake, with a very wide view. When we reached a beautiful section, we stopped, spread out a blanket, looked at the lake and mountains, shared some delicious food, and had a picnic by the lake.

After lunch, we took a short break by the lake and continued our island tour. Along the way, the crabapples were in full bloom, the Biluochun tea fields were lush and green, and the willow breeze was blowing on our faces. It was so pleasant!

4:30 PM

We cycled to Mingyuewan Ancient Village. This ancient village, with its poetic name and picturesque scenery, was used as a filming location for the film "Ashes of Love." Its name is derived from its resemblance to a bright moon, and legend has it that Xi Shi, the King of Wu, once admired the moon here. We rested briefly here, quietly admiring the vast expanse of Taihu Lake from the popular pier, listening to the chirping of cicadas and birds. We cycled past the ancient village and orchard, then watched for a breathtaking sunset from the Taihu Bridge, completing our island-wide cycle (entry to Mingyuewan is free after 4:30 PM).

Notes on cycling equipment

Hats and sunglasses are essential. Long-term riding will cause pain in the buttocks for beginners. It is recommended to buy silicone pads on Taobao. There are various prices and they are more cost-effective. You can also prepare cycling pants.
