Zhejiang Version of MacLehose Trail | Mountain and Sea Hike to Shuitong'ao, Wenling's Golden Coastline

Day 1 Shanghai → Shitang → Xiaoruo Village → Qilin Mountain → Hotel

07:15

Meet at the designated location of China-TravelNote,

We set off on time at 7:30. Along the way, the tour leader explained the itinerary, gave interactive introductions, and there was laughter and joy along the way.

We stopped at a service area on the way to take a short break and have lunch.

13:00

We arrived at the fairytale town of Xiaoruo Village, surrounded by the sea on three sides. Initially, it was all stone houses. But thanks to residents painting their homes in a variety of vibrant hues, it's been nicknamed the "Colorful Island." From a distance, each house has its own unique hue. Rows and rows of buildings, arranged in a staggered pattern along the mountainside, these vibrant, isolated houses have inadvertently become a viral attraction, a place easily recognizable for its impact. Feel free to check in, sit down for a cup of coffee, and enjoy the relaxing time.

3:30 PM

We organized a group and climbed Qilin Mountain, the mountain behind Xiaoruo Village, to overlook the village. It felt quite like Rio de Janeiro, and the scenery was amazing. From the top of the mountain, you can see the whole of Xiaoruo Village in front of you, and behind you can see the mountains and offshore windmills. At the highest point, you can see the vast ocean and the magnificent view of the sea and sky.

5:30 PM

In the evening, watching the sunset and afterglow behind the mountain, a colorful island floats on the shimmering sea, and twinkling lights flicker in the sea, which is incredibly romantic.

7:45 PM

After arriving at the hotel and checking in, you can freely find dinner at the restaurant in Songmen Town and explore Wenling cuisine.

Driving time: 5-6 hours, 30 minutes back to the hotel (non-holidays). Traffic jams on holidays are unpredictable.

Hiking: Qilin Mountain: about 3 kilometers, about 120 meters above sea level. The itinerary may be slightly adjusted according to the day's schedule.

Note: There are many photo spots, so wearing light-colored clothes will be more effective in taking photos when the weather is good.

Day 2 Hotel → Xiaojiaochen Village → Shuitong'ao → Shanghai

07:30

Get up and have breakfast at the hotel

08:00

Pack your luggage and head to Xiaojiaochen Village

08:15

Start hiking Taizhou's "MacLehose Trail." Southern Zhejiang's golden coastline was originally an off-road track. China-TravelNote has specially selected the best sections, crossing the Shuitong'ao Beach. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and the mountain roads are easy to navigate. This is a rare coastline hiking experience in Zhejiang. The sea is blue, the mountains are beautiful, and the sky is boundless. Combine outdoor hiking with the essence of photo-taking, and go on a date with the mountains and the sea!

Here, you'll find beautiful mountain ridges and coastal scenery, flat, soft, and clean beaches, clusters of stone fishing villages on the hillsides, and a fusion of mountain and sea charm. This is the Songmen Greenway on the coastline. Following the Shitang Greenway, Wenling has developed a new greenway that embraces the mountains and sea.

11:30

The Shuitong'ao Beach is wide and overlooks the "Mount Fuji" in the sea. We can have a meal and rest here and enjoy this high-quality beach.

2:00 PM

Arrive and meet up with the bus and return to Shanghai

8:30 PM

Arrived in Shanghai and kissed goodbye with tears!

Driving time: about 20 minutes to the destination and about 6 hours to return (excluding traffic jams during holidays)

Hiking: The large loop is about 14 km long, with a total elevation gain of about 800 meters, and takes about 6-7 hours. The small loop is about half the intensity of the large loop.

Note:
Except for the hot summer months of July, August, and September, we will take the small loop of the best section. In other months, we will take the Shuitong'ao big loop. However, the small loop can be lowered on the beach. Please do it according to your actual situation.
Of course, the small loop of Shuitong'ao is one of the highlights of the whole itinerary. You can play freely at the end of the small loop to the beach.

1.Why didn’t I receive a text message notification after registering?

2. What if it rains during the event?

2-3 days before the event, we will decide whether the event will proceed as scheduled based on the weather forecast and route conditions. Please pay attention to our notifications. Most activities can proceed as usual even if there is light rain. There is still fun to be had on rainy days. If heavy rain is forecast, the event will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to everyone.

3. Is this route crowded?

Most of our routes are natural and niche, with relatively small traffic. Of course, it also depends on the registration situation for each period. Generally, ordinary models are 37-seat buses, and a few large models are 53-seat. Each car has a certain proportion of tour leaders to ensure the quality of the event.

For non-preferred accommodation routes, single tourists do not need to pay the room rate difference when registering

Shuitong'ao, located in Songmen Town, borders the East China Sea and is a scenic bay. The Wenling County Gazetteer states: "Shuitong'ao is named after the bay slightly northeast, which is shaped like a bucket. It is located between mountain pits approximately 1.8 kilometers north of Wukeng." Located 29 kilometers east of Chengguan, in the former Jiaochen Township (now part of Songmen Town), the bay is rectangular in shape, with its mouth oriented northeast. It is 1.25 kilometers wide and 1.5 kilometers deep, covering an area of approximately 0.9 square kilometers. Its northwest shore is relatively straight, while its southeast shore is more tortuous. A barrel-shaped beach extends into the land at the southwest bottom. The coastline is approximately 3.8 meters long, with water depths ranging from 1.4 to 3.5 meters. This area is also a reserved berthing area in the long-term planning for Wenling City's Longmen Deepwater Port.
