Meet at the East Gate of the Provincial Sports Center and get ready to go! Depart at 8:00 sharp, no latecomers! Enjoy the fun and laughter all the way to your destination.
Arriving at the Tiepaigou trailhead around 10:00 AM, our team leader warmed up and stretched our muscles before beginning our hike up the mountain, experiencing the autumn scenery of the Qinling Mountains. The hike, about 2 km one way, reached the chestnut orchard (the entire route was flat dirt road with a stream and waterfall. If it had rained the previous day, there might be some wading, so bring slippers). Here, chestnuts blanketed the mountain, and children enjoyed picking and picking chestnuts!
After being given small backpacks, we hiked up the mountain into the forest to pick chestnuts. Unlike the sugar-roasted chestnuts sold at street vendors, these freshly fallen green chestnuts are prickly, like little hedgehogs, something many children have never seen before. Using a bamboo pole, we knocked the chestnuts down and began picking them (gloves were provided). Using scissors, we cracked open the outer layer and removed the hard shell, revealing the juicy flesh inside. The flesh was crunchy and sweet. You can choose to steam the fresh chestnuts yourself or have your guide cook them on a stove outside.
After having fun, everyone can bring out their own food and go on a wild and decadent trip to the mountains. The tour leader will bring an outdoor stove and gas tank.
Around 15:00, we will return to the mountain pass by foot and take the bus back to Xi'an.
We are expected to arrive in Xi'an city at 18:30. We will hug each other and say goodbye. See you next time!
