The Gansu Provincial Museum, a national first-class museum, houses Gansu's rare cultural treasures from ancient times to the modern era, with a collection of over 80,000 precious historical relics and natural specimens. Particularly noteworthy are its Neolithic-era painted pottery, Han Dynasty bamboo slips, treasures from the Silk Road period, Han and Tang dynasties, Buddhist art treasures, and paleontological fossils. The museum's flagship treasure, "Horse Stepping on Flying Swallow," was unearthed in the heart of the Hexi Corridor. The region's abundant water and grass fostered a renowned animal husbandry industry, and fine horses became a prominent symbol of Hexi's culture.
丨Lanzhou to Zhangye/From Jincheng Hot Springs to Ancient Ganzhou
In ancient times, Lanzhou, known as the "Pearl of the Yellow River," was named after the "Golden City and Hot Springs." This success was fueled by the splendor of the Silk Road, which elevated the city to a vital hub for trade and commerce, ensuring its prosperity and history go hand in hand. Traveling west along the Silk Road, one arrives at the breathtakingly beautiful city of Ganzhou, where Buddhist temples and pagodas abound, bells ring at dawn and drums at dusk, and fragrant mist lingers. The unique scenery of "mountains dominate the city, half the city is shadowed by pagodas, and reed streams stretch across the landscape, dotted with ancient temples" is evident.

Known as the "Reclining Buddha Temple" because it houses a statue of Sakyamuni entering Nirvana, it was commissioned by successive royal families. It houses one of the country's premier Western Xia Buddhist halls, the largest indoor clay reclining Buddha statue, and a complete, first-carved and first-printed edition of the Yongle Northern Tibetan Buddhist Canon. Zhangye's Colorful Danxia, a rare and unique landform in northern China's arid regions, boasts a unique and exceptional landscape. Due to alternating wet and dry climates, a variety of rocks were deposited in a basin at the northern foot of the Qilian Mountains. After renovations, Jiayuguan retains the grandeur and ruggedness of its former border. From the top of the pass tower, the Great Wall resembles a slithering dragon, winding and undulating across the vast sea of sand, appearing and disappearing. The breathtaking scenery of the frontier is breathtaking.
丨The Hanging Great Wall/A magnificent spectacle of hanging upside down in the air
Jiayuguan Pass, nestled between the Qilian Mountains to the south and the Black Mountains to the north, boasts a strategic location and magnificent architecture. Together with the Great Wall, forts, beacon towers, trenches, and other facilities, it forms a comprehensive military defense system. Because the wall winds its way up from the mountain base, it resembles an inverted Great Wall hanging over the ridge, its iron bulwark suspended in mid-air. It is commonly known as the "Hanging Wall." This was a key thoroughfare on the ancient Silk Road and a key military fortress in the western defense system of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall.
丨Sons of the Earth/Gansu Earth Art Symbiosis
"Son of the Earth," a towering infant sculpture, is a landmark in Guazhou, Gansu Province. Its inspiration stems from the ingenuity of its designer, Professor Dong Shubing. The sculpture, with its monumental scale and scale, rises majestically within a vast outdoor space. Its materials, sourced from natural resources, create a harmonious symbiosis between art and nature.
丨Boundless/Mirage in the Gobi Desert
It's been called a mirage on the Gobi Desert. "Boundless" draws inspiration from the Tang Dynasty sutra paintings of the Mogao and Yulin Grottoes, skillfully blending the charm of ancient art with the language of modern sculpture. Using simple yet powerful steel pipes, the artist creates a free-flowing composition between the scorched desert and the azure sky. Space seems to extend infinitely within the work.
