breakfast

08:00

After lunch, we gathered on the bus and headed south to East Taihang (approximately 1.5 hours). The tour guide explained the itinerary and played some interactive games.

10:00

Arrive at the East Taihang Scenic Area, located in Huoshui Township, Wu'an District, Handan City, Hebei Province, at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains. Featuring Danxia landforms similar to the Grand Canyon in the United States, the scenic area reaches a peak elevation of 1,428 meters, making it a must-see natural wonder in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Take the cable car up the mountain to Nantianmen. The approximately 2,000-meter cable car and 360-degree observation elevator offer unparalleled views of the East Taihang Mountains' majestic beauty, unique beauty, and precipitous terrain.

Afterwards, we'll visit Sifang Bridge, nestled between cliffs a thousand meters above sea level. This area is a Danxia landform, where red cliffs and quartz sandstone peaks intersect. Beneath the bridge, a vast abyss and swirling clouds create the spectacular spectacle of "clouds locking the red cliffs." After crossing Sifang Bridge, continue onward and take the Scenic Elevator, a ride that feels like a moment of soaring into the clouds. The sheer abyss and the swirling sea of clouds beneath your feet are a visual impact comparable to a high-altitude jump. After lunch, we'll continue to Taihang Pillar. Its sharp, angular stone pillars pierce the clouds like a sharp sword, sharing the same Danxia landform as the Grand Canyon in the United States and known as the "Soul of the Taihang Mountains." When shrouded in mist, the stone pillars appear and disappear, resembling a "magic needle stabilizing the sea" reaching the sky, creating a powerful visual impact. After crossing Taihang Pillar and passing the Tianji Great Wall, we'll reach Beigaofeng, located at the northern end of the East Taihang Scenic Area and the highest peak in the area, at approximately 1,428 meters. From the summit, you can overlook the vast Taihang Mountains. The rolling sea of clouds creates a fairyland-like experience. On clear days, you can gaze out over the ancient Wudang Mountains, Huaxi Valley, and other surrounding scenic spots. Known as the "Taihang Mountains' No. 1 Observation Deck," it's worth admiring the sunset over the East Taihang Mountains from Beigaofeng. As the sun sinks behind the peaks, the quartz sandstone rocks are stained orange and golden, intertwined with the swirling sea of clouds, creating a magnificent scene of "Red Cliffs reflecting golden light, sea of clouds ablaze with crimson clouds." Especially after rain, or during the peak cloud season in winter, the sunset offers a rich tapestry of light and shadow, resembling an overturned palette.

After enjoying the sunset, take the shuttle bus down the mountain and return to the hotel for check-in. After dinner, rest.

Driving distance: about 95 kilometers, about 1.5 hours

Hiking: about 8 kilometers, about 4 hours, mostly flat, with some stairs going up and down the mountain

Day 3 East Taihang → Jingniang Lake → Beijing

08:00

breakfast

08:30

Drive to Jingniang Lake. Nestled in the heart of the Taihang Mountains, Jingniang Lake is shaped like an inverted human figure, divided into two halves, east and west. Named after the poignant legend of Zhao Kuangyin's journey to send Jingniang off across a thousand miles, it's often called the "Three Gorges of the Taihang Mountains." Enjoy a boat tour of the lake, where the crystal-clear waters reflect the red cliffs of Chibi. Along with Guilin's Li River, it's known as one of Guilin's most majestic and beautiful sights, known as "The Great North and the Beautiful South." Explore scenic spots like "One Line of Sky" and "Dieyue Bridge" by boat, and experience the poetic feeling of sailing through a painting.

Take the elevator along the lakeside plank road to Huilong Valley, a 2-kilometer-long canyon flanked by towering red cliffs. As you follow the wooden plank road, you'll hear the gurgling stream and witness wonders like the "One Line Sky" and the "Longbi Rock Waterfall." Legend has it that Zhao Kuangyin once rested here while escorting Jingniang. Relics like the "Kuangyin Stone" and "Jingniang's Dressing Table" remain within the valley, adding to its mystique.

Take the Yuping Peak Cableway to the summit of Yunzhong Temple, located on a mountaintop terrace. Surrounded by peaks, the temple is shrouded in perpetual mist and clouds, creating a fairyland-like experience. From the Songzu Peak Observation Deck, you'll enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the rippling Jingniang Lake and the towering Taihang Mountains in the distance, allowing you to experience the majestic feeling of "ascending to the summit, overlooking all the other mountains."

Continue on your journey and take a train to Hongyeling. Hongyeling is based on the red cliffs of Chibi. In autumn, red leaves cover the mountain, forming a unique landscape of "Chibi with red edges", which contrasts beautifully with the clear waters of Jingniang Lake.

Take the mountain roller coaster to [Peach Blossom Realm]. The mountain roller coaster winds down the mountain with a maximum drop of 100 meters. It combines the thrilling speed experience with the magnificent scenery of Taihang Mountains and is known as the "roller coaster on the clouds."

Walk to the Magpie Bridge. Legend has it that Zhao Kuangyin and Jingniang passed through this bridge, and the two became known as brother and sister. However, due to worldly barriers, they were unable to be together. Later generations named the bridge "Magpie Bridge" to commemorate this unsuccessful relationship. After taking photos and checking in, return to the bus for the return journey. Lunch will be provided at the designated service area along the way.
