All day
In the morning, go to visit and photograph Chaozhou Ancient City
We'll visit Kaiyuan Temple in Chaozhou, known as "a blessed land for millions of families and a lush forest for the world." It's one of China's ten largest Kaiyuan temples, commissioned by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty during the Kaiyuan reign. Afterwards, we'll pass through Memorial Archway Street and the Guangji Gate Tower before visiting and photographing Guangji Bridge, one of China's four great ancient bridges. Standing atop the bridge, we'll experience the architectural wisdom of the ancients. At noon, we'll enjoy a leisurely city walk through the ancient city, exploring the streets and alleys to savor the charming cuisine of Chaoshan.
In the afternoon, we went to Guanshuo Village in Jiedong to take photos of the Youhuohu
Guanshuo Village in Yujiao Town, Jiedong District, is renowned for its traditional "fire torch parade" during the Lunar New Year's traditional temple fair. From the 17th to the 19th day of the first lunar month, the Guanshuo Jingxing Temple Fair is held. During this period, villagers, young and old, visit the ancestral hall to worship their ancestors and participate in the "god parade." On the nights of the 18th and 19th day of the first lunar month, villagers, carrying lanterns, gather in front of the village to watch the fire torch parade. During the parade, men, wearing red scarves on their heads and red sashes around their waists, carry a 10-meter-long fire torch woven from three strands of bamboo strips on their shoulders. Amidst the clamor of firecrackers, gongs and drums, and cheers from the audience, they light the torch and parade around the village, creating a lively and spectacular scene. The entire fire torch parade lasts about two hours. After the event, the men take the remaining torch back home and place it in the hearth, wishing for prosperity and prosperity in the new year.

Day 3 Jieyang → Shantou (19th day of the first lunar month)
All day
After breakfast, go to Jieyang Ancient City to photograph the humanities and architecture
Jieyang Ancient City takes water as its vein and culture as its soul. It has solidified thousands of years of time in stone carvings and wood carvings, and continues the Lingnan style in the fireworks of the market, becoming a "living museum" where tradition and modernity blend together. The reference route is: Jinxian Gate - Jieyang Academy - Datong Street - Shishi Bridge - Zhongshan Qilou Street - City God Temple - Jinxian Gate. You can arrange your trip reasonably according to your physical strength.
In the afternoon, we went to Nansha Township to photograph the camp lights.
Nansha Township, Xinan Town, Shantou City, holds its annual "Yingdeng" (Camp Lantern) Festival. Locals, young and old, carrying lanterns inscribed with their family names, parade through the ancestral halls and alleys of the village, creating a bustling scene. As night falls and the lanterns begin to illuminate, villagers from Nansha's East, West, South, and North communities gather in all directions, carrying lanterns to join the long parade. This procession then flows through the village streets and alleys, past temples, and into ancestral halls. The vast parade, moving in and out of the various temples and ancestral halls for blessings, resembles two dragons weaving through the village lanes. For a moment, the streets and alleys of Nansha resemble a sea of lights and a tide of people, forming a kilometer-long river of lights, a spectacular sight that is truly breathtaking.

Day 4 Shantou → Jieyang (20th day of the first lunar month)
All day
In the morning, I went to Shantou Small Park to take pictures of the inlaid porcelain in the arcade
The Small Park is a hallmark of Shantou in the 20th century, bearing witness to its development from the opening of the port to the mid-Republic of China. It stands as the core area and cultural symbol of Shantou's old city. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Pavilion is the centerpiece of the park. From this pavilion, the arcade-style streets of "Four Yongs and One Shengping" radiate outwards, forming a spectacular urban district. The unique porcelain inlay technique on the roof of the Guanyin Temple creates a striking three-dimensional effect and vibrant colors. Various operatic motifs are pieced together from fired colored ceramic tiles, bringing the characters to life and the roof to lifelike blossoms.
In the afternoon, we went to Caiqi Lane, Liucuo, Fengxi, Paotai, to visit the old master.
Liucuo, Fengxi Village, holds a folk cultural parade on the 20th day of the first lunar month each year. A key feature of the parade is the "Walking Along the Colored Flag Alley." Every male born in the village the previous year is given a colorful flag. When the parade reaches the ancestral hall, all the flags are unfurled, each about four meters apart, forming a vibrant alley. When the master enters the alley, the young men carrying the sedan chair light firecrackers and carry it at breakneck speed through the alley and into the ancestral hall. This exciting and lively process is known as the "Walking Along the Colored Flag Alley."
Go to Jieyang Rongcheng Qining Village to jump over the fire in the evening
On the evening of the 20th day of the first lunar month, in Qining Village, Rongcheng District, Jieyang, villagers ignited a pre-prepared pile of straw. Instantly, a blazing fire shot up into the sky, illuminating the entire area with blazing flames, sparks flying and crackling. By then, the villagers participating in the fire-jumping ritual were already ready. Most of them were young and strong men, with a number of energetic teenagers. To the cheers of gongs, drums, and firecrackers, the villagers began rushing toward the fire one by one. With determined eyes and chanting, they took a few steps, then leaped with all their might, leaping over the blazing fire with a nimble gesture. Some villagers even jumped back and forth multiple times, drawing cheers and applause from the spectators.

Day 5 Jieyang → Puning → Jieyang → or → other places (21st day of the first lunar month)
All day
In the morning, we went to Puning Nigou Village to film the Yinglaoye Yingge dance
The 21st day of the first lunar month is the busiest time of year in Nigou Township, Liaoyuan, Puning, an ancient village in Guangdong Province. This day marks the reunion festival of Nigou's "Zouzihui," and also the occasion for the centuries-old parade of gods and competitions. The Nigou parade is a grand gathering of folk customs, with the most eye-catching performance being the Yingge dance.
