Explore the Planet of the Apes | Wild Uganda Tour

Day 1 Kampala★Meeting Day

All day

Today is an all-day gathering day. Everyone will take flights to Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and check into designated hotels on their own.

Itinerary Presentation ※ First Encounter丨Welcome Dinner

丨Free gathering day

The Republic of Uganda, a small yet charming country in East Africa, may not be as well-known as neighboring Tanzania and Kenya, but it's home to the source of the White Nile and one of the last remaining habitats of the endangered mountain gorilla, offering unique experiences unlike any other.

Kampala, the capital of Uganda, is a vibrant and charming city. Its name derives from the "impala," a graceful antelope that symbolizes the city's unique charm. When British colonists arrived in the 19th century, they could hardly have imagined that this city of seven hills nestled on the northern shores of Lake Victoria would become one of East Africa's most vibrant cultural treasures three centuries later. Located at an altitude of 1,190 meters, its high plateau climate imbues it with a gentle, spring-like atmosphere year-round. That day, we'll transfer to our hotel at our own discretion, depending on our flight schedule.

Of course, the season and weather will affect the number and variety of animals you see. Afterward, we'll return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3 Mburo National Park → Bwindi Forest National Park

·morning

Itinerary Presentation ※ Sustainable Project丨Batwa Tribe & Local Women Support Project

Today's itinerary focuses on a drive to Bwindi Forest National Park to prepare for our next day's gorilla-watching trip. Upon arrival, we'll visit the Batwa tribe, often called the "Guardians of the Forest," a dwarf tribe that is one of Africa's oldest indigenous tribes. With a history stretching back thousands of years, the Batwa have traditionally been hunter-gatherers, relying on the dense forests for food, shelter, and medicine. Here, we'll enjoy dance and cultural performances. We'll then visit a local women's charity, dedicated to empowering women in the Bwindi community in Uganda. Afterward, we'll check into our hotel to rest and prepare for tomorrow's gorilla-watching trip.

Bwindi National Park is a vital habitat for endangered mountain gorillas, home to over a third of the world's population, as well as the world's largest populations of monkeys, baboons, apes, and the rare colobus monkey. It also boasts Africa's richest birdlife, with over 1,000 species recorded, representing 50% of Africa's bird species and 10% of the world's bird species, making it a bird paradise. Bwindi National Park is designated "impenetrable" due to the dense cover of herbs, vines, and shrubs that grow on the valley floor.

Day 4 Bwindi Forest National Park (Orangutan Safari)

All day

Itinerary presentation ※ Orangutan hunting | Hiking safari

Today we'll explore the Bwindi Forest to track down the endangered prototype of King Kong. The mountains and tropical forests are spectacular in themselves, but meeting this primate, with only about 1,100 individuals worldwide and a DNA profile 97.7% similar to humans, is an indescribably precious experience.

You'll arrive at park headquarters early in the morning (usually around 7:00 AM). You'll likely be divided into smaller groups, each led by a local guide, to hike into the forest in search of these few remaining gorilla families. Tracking the gorillas will take anywhere from two to seven hours. Traversing this legendary "impenetrable forest" is no easy feat, due to the steep terrain, but the experience is well worth it. At the end of the tour, you'll receive a "gorilla tracking certificate" and return to your hotel for the night.

Recommended season for gorilla watching in Uganda: dry season from December to February or from June to September

Notice:

1. Uganda's Bwindi National Park has more dense forests and other flora and fauna, and the hiking time is longer, ranging from 1 to 8 hours, depending on the family you are tracking.

2. Trekkers will be divided into groups (up to 8 people per group) based on their fitness level and assigned to specific gorilla families. We may assign them to different groups to suit the trekking capacity.

2. You must follow the instructions of the guide and ranger at all times.

3. If you have any infectious disease, even a common cold, you may be denied entry to ensure the safety of the chimpanzees. This is a national park policy and your permit will not be refunded if you are denied entry due to illness.

4. Travelers must be at least 15 years old to obtain a gorilla trekking permit in Rwanda and Uganda.

5. You will be walking through dense forests, steep slopes, muddy terrain, and possibly dense undergrowth. Please be sure to bring professional hiking shoes.
6. You must maintain a distance of 7 meters, avoid sudden movements, and speak softly. Flash photography is prohibited.

Day 5 Bwindi Forest National Park → Queen Elizabeth National Park

All day

It is also the best place to watch lions (including tree-climbing lions).

Note: We may see lions, but tree-climbing lions aren't common everywhere! The Ishasha area of the national park is renowned for its large, tree-climbing lions, as well as its impressive birdlife, diverse primates, and abundant plains game. We'll stay two nights there, with a full day for extensive game drives.

In the distance, looming behind layers of clouds are the Rwenzori Mountains, Africa's third-highest peak. Elephant families stroll leisurely, while herds of zebras and antelope run freely, grazing leisurely while keeping a watchful eye on the surrounding herds of buffalo. Lions roar loudly—countless other animals live their lives in peace and contentment.

Hop on a safari vehicle and immerse yourself in this untouched wilderness! Afterward, we'll take a boat trip on the Kazinga River to spot hippos, crocodiles, and birds. Then, return to your hotel for dinner.
