Day 1 Shanghai → Haining → Citywalk → Nanbei Lake → Lake Ring → Shanghai
09:00
Meet at the designated China-TravelNote location between 09:00 and 09:15 to sign in. Depart at 09:15 sharp, and enjoy the fun and interaction with your tour leader along the way! (Due to the short distance, we won't stop at any service areas along the way.)
11:30
Arrive at Nanguanxiang. This is the last well-preserved Guanxiang area in the Jiangnan region, remarkably preserving the streetscape of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum and the Xishi Lantern Museum are particularly noteworthy. The Xishi lanterns, over 1,200 years old, shimmer with color. Paper-cuts, bamboo weaving, and leather appliqués are a feast for the eyes. There's also a trendy craft collection, clay figurines, a vegetarian buffet, and authentic local snacks. It's a fun and enjoyable stroll. You can also freely wander the streets and alleys of Haining's city center and explore local delicacies like A'long Wine Pot, Ziwei Cold Drinks, and Zhenxiuzhai Jingfen.
Afterward, we'll visit Ganhe Street in Haining, Jiaxing, home to the designer's "Surface Poetry" exhibition and the former residence of Xu Zhimo, who lived there briefly after his marriage to Lu Xiaoman. The small, Western-style building, a blend of Chinese and Western styles, exudes a poetic atmosphere, evoking echoes of bygone times.
After crossing Ganhe Street, we climbed up the tree-lined path to the Ziwei Pavilion on the top of the West Mountain, overlooking the entire Haining city and feeling the comfort of being high up and looking far. (You need to scan your ID card or register on site to enter the Ziwei Pavilion)
After we got down the mountain, the bus had been waiting for a long time. Friends who arrived early could also visit the Haining Museum on the way. The museum displays Xishi lanterns, Haining Chao culture, and the style of Haining celebrities such as Wang Guowei and Xu Zhimo.
2:45 PM
Around 2:45 PM, we gathered and headed for Nanbei Lake. About an hour later, we arrived at the cycling station for a short break—it's a great place for taking photos! Then we boarded our chariots and set off!
This ride was very different. If you are riding an electric-assisted bicycle for the first time, you must try it out on the track for a while and then set off again after you get the hang of it. With electric assistance, riding by the lake on a summer evening is absolutely amazing. You can soak up every breeze with almost no effort.
A long causeway, half-drenched by the setting sun, divides the lake into north and south halves. Riding along it, you can take in the stunning scenery on both sides. Egret Island and Butterfly Island dot the center of the lake, while the island's waterside pavilions and long corridors complement the lotus pond. We cycled to Beili Lake and watched the sunset slowly sink into the lake, the clouds gilding the surface with a crimson hue.
Special option: If you have a partner, you can check the trailer option, with one person riding and the other towing the backseat. See the product images for details, and you can get double the fun by checking in! (The number of trailers in each batch is limited)
Minors under 18 are prohibited from riding and must check the trailer box!!
9:00 PM
Around 6:15 PM, the stars began to rise and the blues faded, so we gathered in time. Around 9:00 PM, we returned to our departure point in Shanghai, concluding our day's check-in journey. Everyone was reluctant to leave, with a tearful kiss and a goodbye!
