7:30-7:45 Gather and sign in

07:45

We set off on time at 7:45. Led by the staff, the team members introduced themselves to each other, interacted with each other, laughed and talked all the way, and before we knew it, we were approaching our destination.

10:45

At around 10:45, we arrived at the entrance of Shangqing Ancient Trail. Everyone got off the bus and stretched their bodies. The team leader would lead everyone in warming up. Be sure to do it. After the warm-up, we set off!

Shangqing Ancient Road has been famous for a long time. Its name seems to come from the place names at its beginning and end, one is Shangzao and the other is Qingtan. It is said that it was the main official road from Shengzhou to Shaoxing in ancient times. Some people also call it Kuaiji Ancient Road.

Climb the steps along the weathered bluestone slabs, and you'll find a quiet ancient path and a bamboo forest offering a summer retreat, a record of countless years of vicissitudes. A gentle breeze through the bamboo forest echoes the lasting voices of literati and poets over the past millennia. Literary giants like Lu You and Lin Jingxi have left their beloved verses here, and tourists with poetic inspiration can rejoice in a poem to soothe their emotions.

In the afternoon, we passed by Wanshoushan Reservoir. The emerald green water reflected the blue sky. We took photos and checked in for lunch. After lunch, we took a break and continued on our way.

Going deeper, we arrived at Rizhu Ridge. This section has a strong ancient Yue flavor, with vast bamboo forests, winding ridge steps, protruding rocks, and lush ancient camphor trees, making it one of the best sections of the road.

4:00 PM

Arriving at the end of the hike, the bus had been waiting for us for a long time, so we boarded and headed back to Shanghai.

The Shangqing Ancient Trail—said to be a classic in Shaoxing's hiking community—seems to have gotten its name from the place names at its beginning and end: Shangzao and Qingtan. The Shangqing Ancient Trail was once the official road from Shengzhou to Shaoxing, equivalent to a modern-day national highway. With the opening of the Pingwang Line, it's now rarely used, and some locals call it the Kuaiji Ancient Trail. The route from the Shangzao Ancient Wharf to Shaoxing along the Ruoye River was a waterway, long abandoned and no trace remains. The mountain route from the Shangzao Ancient Wharf in Wangtan Town to Shengzhou remains largely untouched, paved with bluestone slabs.
