If you're visiting Busan during the summer, let me tell you, the 192 Steps of Happiness (192 계단 모노레일) and Gamcheon Culture Village (감천문화마을) are two cool spots I highly recommend checking out!
1. The 192 Steps of Happiness (192 계단 모노레일)
This unique little monorail elevator was built to help locals get up and down the steep steps – and it was quite an interesting ride!
My Experience: I learned that locals get priority, which is totally fair, and there were always friendly volunteers around to help out.
The Ride Itself: The elevator runs in two sections, with three stops (top, middle, bottom), making a little pause in the middle.
Capacity: Just a heads-up, each cabin only fits two people, so it's a cozy ride!
Getting There: You can find it at 87-302 Dongdaesin 2(i)-ga, Seo-gu, Busan, South Korea.
2. Gamcheon Culture Village (감천문화마을)
Summer was a great time to explore Gamcheon Culture Village. While I didn't see cherry blossoms, the vibrant colors of the houses truly popped under the summer sun!
Little Prince Photo Spot: Oh my goodness, the "Little Prince and Fox" statue was packed with people waiting for photos! If you want that iconic shot, be ready to queue up patiently.
Exploring the Village: This place is famous for its colorful houses, narrow winding alleys, and all the cool murals. It really does feel like the "Machu Picchu of Busan." In the summer light, the whole village was just so bright and lively.
Combining these two spots gave me a great feel for Busan's unique urban vibe, the locals' ingenuity, and just how colorful and charming the city is, even without the spring blossoms!
