Hello, countryside wanderers~ I’m your travel blogger 🌾🏞️
Today, we head west,
deep into the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains to a thousand-year-old ancient county—
📍 Hebei · Xingtang
It’s little known, yet it hides:
✅ The sweet taste of China’s “Hometown of Red Dates”
✅ The millennium-old temple Fenglong Mountain and the legacy of its academy
✅ Pristine ancient villages at the foot of the Taihang Mountains (such as Goubei Village, Nanqiao Village)
✅ Cultural heritage of Han Dynasty stone carvings, Tang Dynasty stele forest, and intangible heritage paper-cutting
✅ Pastoral poetry of pear blossoms in spring and red date picking in autumn
This time, we spend three days and two nights,
staying in a stone courtyard,
reading a poem at Fenglong Academy,
picking “Xingtang Red Dates” by hand in the jujube groves,
listening to authentic Hebei Bangzi opera,
and enjoying a “slow life, light travel, true countryside” hidden gem trip.

1. Best Time to Visit:
 - Spring (March-April): pear blossoms in full bloom, mountain villages like snow
 - Autumn (September-October): red dates ripen, trees glowing red
 - Avoid rainy season (July-August), slippery mountain roads
2. Photo Tips:
 - Fenglong Academy stone steps: capture “scholarly atmosphere + ancient tree shadows”
 - Jujube grove paths: shoot “red fruit hanging + backlit silhouettes”
 - Stone courtyards: shoot “curling smoke + mottled wall shadows”
 - Riverside park sunset: capture “small town slow life” documentary style
3. Pitfalls to Avoid:
 - ❌ Don’t trust “antique stele rubbings” — mostly replicas
 - ✅ Wear non-slip shoes in the mountains, bring water and snacks
 - ❌ Don’t enter unopened stone caves without permission
4. Hidden Experiences:
 - Learn to cut the “Fu” character from an elder in Goubei Village
 - Early morning market for freshly baked stone-milled flatbreads
 - Evening by the west river in town listening to locals sing Hebei Bangzi opera
