Earlier, I passed through Guangzhou,
with about three hours left before boarding the high-speed train. So,
I took the Guangzhou Metro to Huangsha Station, crossed the overpass,
and arrived at Shamian Island—instantly transported back over a hundred years.
Shamian became a British and French concession after the signing of the Shamian Lease Treaty in 1861. During the 82 years of occupation, coinciding with the flourishing of Western architectural trends, 150 European-style buildings of various designs were constructed,
making this place one of Guangzhou's top photography spots.
Here, you can also find unique coffee shops and restaurants, as well as some boutique clothing stores.
This location is about a 20-minute drive directly to Guangzhou East High-Speed Rail Station, making transportation quite convenient.
