[Istanbul] Hagia Sophia – a ticket to a thousand years of history

#istanbul

The Hagia Sophia, or Aya Sophia, is a majestic building, built in 537. A sense of scale and antiquity accompanied me throughout my walk.

⭐It's gratifying that almost 1,500 years later, anyone can visit the cathedral, behold its grandeur, and literally touch history.

⭐The fusion of cultures is striking: Byzantine mosaics coexist with Arabic calligraphy.

⭐Peace and tranquility reign, despite the large crowds.

⭐The cathedral is of significant cultural significance and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I visited for free, but admission will be charged starting January 15, 2024.

📍Address: Sultan Ahmet, Ayasofya Meydanı.

Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern, and the Archaeological Museum are all within walking distance.
