6 Days 5 Nights Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou

📅 Itinerary for 6 Days 5 Nights

Day 1: Arrived at the hotel in Chengdu around 4 PM. Took the metro to visit Kuanzhai Alley, which was bustling with people! Also went to Fuqin Night Market, where there were plenty of local snacks to try.

Day 2: Headed to Jiuzhaigou early in the morning, stopping by Panda Valley on the way. It wasn’t crowded, so we quickly entered the park. There were many pandas, but most were sleeping due to the hot weather. The park also has red pandas, but you need to walk further uphill to see them, and it depends on your luck. Plan for 1.5-2 hours to explore.

On the way to Jiuzhaigou, we passed by a lavender garden. Since we had a private car, we asked the driver to stop so we could take photos. The entrance fee in August during summer vacation was 30 RMB per person. It’s a bit pricey, but the scenery was stunning.

Day 3: Entered Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area early in the morning, and it was very crowded! However, the crowd control was well-managed, and we didn’t have to wait long to board the park shuttle bus. We first went to Long Lake (3100 meters above sea level), then gradually took the shuttle to Arrow Bamboo Lake and finally to Rhinoceros Lake. Honestly, the scenery was breathtaking, and one day wasn’t enough to explore everything. It’s recommended to bring your own food, as the park only sells items like grilled sausages, corn, and instant noodles, which are expensive and not very tasty.

In the evening, our private car driver took us to a hidden gem—Tibetan restaurant Zang Ya Ge. It’s not located on the main street, so it’s hard to find without directions. Many locals dine there. After dinner, we watched the Thousand Ancient Feelings show, which was an amazing performance.

Day 4: Left Jiuzhaigou and headed to Dujiangyan, which took 6-7 hours by car—no joke! Upon arrival, we admired the Blue Tears phenomenon. The area was lively with many food stalls.

Day 5: Visited Dujiangyan Scenic Area to see the ancient water conservancy project. It’s recommended to pay extra for a guided tour. We also stopped by Zhongshuge bookstore and the Giant Panda Arch for photos before heading back to Chengdu. We stayed near Taikoo Li, so we explored Chunxi Road, enjoying snacks, strolling, and buying souvenirs. Super convenient!

Day 6: Had an early departure to the airport for a noon flight.

🏨 Accommodation Recommendation: Iseya High Altitude Hotel (Tianfu Square Chunxi Road Branch)
