Lazy Guide Before Visiting the Old City—"Jiancheng Pavilion"!

If you're planning to explore the Fengshan County Old City, make "Jiancheng Pavilion" your first stop! Located right next to Lotus Pond, this small yet charming exhibition hall is the perfect place to cool off with some air conditioning and learn about the history and layout of the old city. By understanding the historical context here, you'll have a much richer experience when you later visit the city walls!

One thing to note is that the exhibition space is quite compact, so it might feel crowded during group tours. Also, the exhibits are mostly static, featuring text, images, and models, making it more suitable for those interested in history and culture.

📚 Atmosphere/Facilities:
Jiancheng Pavilion itself is housed in a beautifully preserved old building with well-thought-out interior design. The highlight upon entering is the massive model of the old city, which clearly marks the boundaries, walls, and gates of Fengshan County Old City—it's incredibly informative.

My favorite part is the panoramic animation! It vividly depicts the history of the old city, from its establishment and prosperity to wartime events, in an engaging way that even kids can understand. After watching the animation, you'll know exactly where to find the East Gate or North Gate, making it the ultimate navigation tool!

The pavilion also features interactive installations and artifact displays that provide deeper insights into Taiwan's first stone city.

💰 Admission Fees:
General Admission: 49 TWD
Discounted Admission: 29 TWD

🚗 Transportation:
Located right next to Lotus Pond, it can be combined with visits to Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, Spring and Autumn Pavilions, and the East Gate of Fengshan County Old City.
Take a bus to "Lotus Pond" or "Zuoying Farmers' Association" stop, and it's just a short walk from there.
Nearby roadside parking is available, but finding a spot might take some time on weekends.

😎 Highly recommended itinerary: Start at Jiancheng Pavilion to enjoy the air conditioning and exhibitions (spend about 30-40 minutes), get a solid understanding of the old city, and then take a leisurely walk to the nearby East Gate city walls. This way, your visit will be more meaningful and less superficial!

🕰️ Opening Hours:
Tuesday to Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Closed on Mondays.
