Bali is beautiful, but honestly… if you’ve already seen enough of the classic beach clubs and crowds, and you’re looking for something truly unreal in Indonesia, I highly recommend Komodo Island.
I finally ticked it off my bucket list this summer, and I still can’t get over how stunning it is. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
What makes Komodo so special?
✔️ The scenery is next-level — imagine dramatic islands rising straight out of the turquoise sea, untouched beaches, and some of the clearest water you’ll ever swim in.
✔️ The liveaboard experience — we stayed on a boat for a few days, sailing between different islands. Waking up to sunrise over the ocean and sleeping under the stars… it’s a completely different vibe compared to staying in a hotel. Super relaxing but adventurous at the same time.
✔️ Pink Beach — Yes, the sand is actually pink! It looks surreal and is amazing for photos.
✔️ Komodo Dragons — Of course, you can’t come here without seeing these famous creatures in Komodo National Park. It’s wild to see them up close (but don’t worry, the guides are there to keep you safe).
✔️ Snorkelling & Diving — Some of the best spots I’ve ever experienced! Crystal-clear water, vibrant coral reefs, and swimming with manta rays… absolutely unforgettable.
Personal Tips:
🌤️ Best time to visit — Dry season (April to September) is perfect, with calm waters and clear skies. I went in July and the weather was amazing.
⛵ Liveaboard is the way to go — It’s more convenient than hopping between islands and you get to wake up in the middle of paradise every day. Plus, it feels like a mini adventure!
🎒 Pack light but smart — Reef-safe sunscreen, a dry bag, and motion sickness tablets if you get seasick easily.
📸 Bring a good camera or GoPro — Trust me, you’ll want to capture every second.
If you want an island experience that feels untouched, peaceful, and wildly beautiful, skip the Bali crowds and head straight to Komodo. You won’t regret it — it’s like discovering a secret side of Indonesia.
