A castle located in Saga City, Saga Prefecture

The castle was built by Nabeshima Naoshige, a retainer of Ryuzoji Takanobu, and his son Nabeshima Katsushige, the first lord of Saga, by renovating Muranaka Castle, which was the residence of the Ryuzoji clan, from 1608 (Keicho 13).

It was completed in 1611 (Keicho 16).

The Saga Castle Honmaru History Museum is located on the site of the Saga Castle Honmaru.

This museum faithfully recreates the Saga Castle Honmaru Palace, which was built by Nabeshima Naomasa, the 10th lord of Saga, at the end of the Edo period (1838), based on excavation results, old photographs, and drawings from the Edo period.

Admission is free.
