Kaminarimon (also known as the Thunder Gate) is a symbolic landmark of Senso-ji Temple in Tokyo, Japan. Its full name is "Wind and Thunder God Gate," and it serves as the temple's main entrance. Originally built in 942 AD, it has undergone numerous destructions and reconstructions, with the current structure completed in 1960.

Highlights:
• Giant Red Lantern: Hanging in the center of the gate is the "Thunder Gate" lantern, weighing hundreds of kilograms and inscribed with the Chinese characters "Thunder Gate," a must-photo opportunity for visitors.
• Wind and Thunder God: Statues of the Wind God and Thunder God are enshrined on either side of the gate, symbolizing the temple's protection.
• Nakamise-dori: Passing through Kaminarimon leads to Asakusa's famous Nakamise-dori Shopping Street, selling a wide variety of Japanese sweets, souvenirs, and unique items.
• Asakusa Landmark: Kaminarimon is not only a religious structure, but also one of Tokyo's most iconic tourist attractions.

Overall, Kaminarimon offers the perfect gateway to experience Japan's traditional culture and vibrant atmosphere, and is the first stop on any Senso-ji Temple tour.
