Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Before You Visit: A to Z for a 100% Enjoyment
Shinjuku Gyoen is one of Tokyo's best value attractions. With an incredibly affordable admission price of 500 yen for adults, and the chance to spend hours soaking up the natural beauty, it's a must-visit. However, to fully enjoy the park, it's helpful to know a few practical tips and rules. The most important rules are **no drinking or smoking** and **no ball games**. Because the park is strictly managed, bringing alcohol or playing sports is prohibited. This is to maintain the park's peaceful and quiet atmosphere, so please enjoy a picnic limited to a picnic blanket and a simple bento box (lunchbox). Drinks are allowed, but alcoholic beverages may be subject to inspection. I bought a delicious bento box from a nearby convenience store and had lunch on the lawn, which was the perfect outdoor dining experience. The best time to visit is on a weekday morning. Weekends can be crowded with locals and tourists alike. Opening at 9:00 AM, arrive early to enjoy the meticulously maintained gardens all to yourself. However, because the gardens close relatively early (usually 4:30-5:30 PM), you may not be able to fully enjoy them if you visit late in the afternoon. A good route is to take a large lap around the gardens. By admiring the Japanese, English, and French gardens in order, you'll be able to enjoy their diverse charms. We recommend allocating at least three hours, and comfortable sneakers are a must. Make the most of your #Tokyotrip with these tips. Share your #Shinjuku_tips and have a wonderful trip!
