We chose to stay at a hot spring hotel in Jiaoxi and took the Taiwan Railway to Waiao early in the morning. As soon as we walked out of the station and across the street, we found the long Waiao Beach. The weather was beautiful and cloudless, but the sand was a bit too hot. We walked along the beach, where the water was icy and refreshing. We walked towards Wushi Harbor Pier, passing a yellow building that housed Waiao's Café No. 9. We had a bite to eat and then headed straight to the pier to depart for Guishan Island.
The weather was absolutely fantastic that day, and the breeze kept the heat at bay. Our guide led the way around the island, explaining the sights along the way. The journey was about 2 kilometers, with plenty of rest areas and restrooms along the way. It was absolutely travel-friendly. After exploring the island, we boarded a boat to see whales and dolphins. The number of them was even greater than we'd expected, swimming and jumping right alongside the boat. It was a truly spectacular sight. After landing, we headed towards Toucheng Old Street, a half-hour walk. The diverse decor and murals on the old street created a cozy living space. We ended up choosing a Japanese restaurant for the evening. The ingredients were all fresh, and they had all-you-can-drink miso soup! #Yilan #TurtleShanIsland
