I was bowled over by 14 Carrot Cafe recently when I ordered a chicken curry. Diced chicken was cooked with green apples, almonds, tomatoes, onions, and curry spices along with a mango-chutney cream sauce. Served with brown rice, the first bite simply exploded in my mouth with wonderful, fresh flavors. I took my time and reviewed the menu, which is varied for vegetarian and non-vegetarians alike. Tahini-stuffed French toast seemed intriguing, and there were some nice sandwich and soup selections in the line-up. Prices seem to run around $7.50 to about $11 for most items. I've only been there once, so my rating is highly qualified. I have read other reviews in various places, which seem to indicate service and food quality can vary a lot. However, my experience was nothing but positive. I will definitely return on my next trip to town. The casual, colorful eatery is near the corner of Lynn and Eastlake not far from Lake Union and Interstate 5.

I've been in search for the perfect pancake for a long time (moist, but not too thick, melts-in-your mouth) and honestly I think I found it at 14 Carrot Cafe. I tried the sourdough blueberry and the wheat banana and both were stupendous. Prices were very reasonable and the waittress was kind and attentive. Might get packed on a weekend, but on a Tuesday morning it was quiet.

Visited the Carrot Cafe twice for breakfast. The cafe has a quaint tight seating. The owners seem to be Greek as evident with the Greek island photos on the walls. Largely a breakfast place with some sandwich options for lunch as well. To begin with, the food is great. Over the two days we had the Monterrey omelette which was my fav dish of them all. The scrambled eggs were good too. We also had the almond crusted french toasts on another day which were great. The food is reasonably priced and the coffee is fresh and good. We wanted to have the carrot cake or the banana bread on both days but were too full post breakfast to try. The service is prompt and good. Would recommend it to anyone around that area for breakfast.

EVERYTHING we eat there is delicious from the omlettes to the BLTs. Awesome cinnamon rolls and mimosas for a sweet reward! This is such a great local spot, perfect for friends and family.

I wanted to like this place more. It was cute and my friend recommended it. However, let's be clear here. The number one reason to go to breakfast is for the food. Unlike a dinner out, I judge breakfast almost solely on the food (unless the service is awful), and my omelet was an overpriced disappointment. I ordered it lightly done, and it was way overdone. It was listed as a special, but although the veggies in it are all in season and available fresh, there were few fresh veggies, and instead it was overrun with sliced black olives. I won't feel the need to go back.

We wanted to find a neighbourhood place for breakfast and 14 Carrot was nearby. We really enjoyed our meals and the coffee was great. The service was a little slow but we weren't in any hurry so no bother.

Great friendly and clean breakfast/lunch joint with pancakes to die for. (Try the carrot cake). Everything is super fresh and the coffee cups are bottomless. Family owned and operated since 1977.

Breakfast or lunch -- the fare is hearty and hot. Lots of locals on the weekends (as in "wait in line" busy), but a good crowd most weekday mornings as well. Omelettes and waffles are very good, coffee cake is great and cinnamon rolls are huge (but mine was a bit dry). The service is friendly and quick, although when it gets busy you might have to raise your cup to get a coffee refill. Have eaten lunch here in the recent past and found the turkey sandwich to be just right. Nothing fancy, but there are a few things on the menu that have a Greek vibe to them, and are very good. Go eat here if you are hungry; you'll not be disappointed and your wallet won't suffer too much.

Stopped here for a bite and was very impressed with the large amount of choices for brunch, including lots of daily specials. We chose chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, and both of us were happy. The service was prompt and friendly and the restaurant is light, airy and has nice art. All in all a good bet for a weekend morning.

As I travel, I tend to stray towards local breakfast places. This place is a “winner”. Parents even liked the food and they are picky eaters. We ordered: French Toast – 2 slices, 2 Buttermilk Oat pancakes, Corn Beef Hash and the Sweet Tooth – eggs, hash browns and cinnamon roll (just what the Doctor ordered). Portion size were exactly what we thought they would be. Lucky we arrived early, as the tables fill up quickly. Next time I am in Seattle, I will return here.

We had a very fun time at brunch! Delicious food..esp. the sourdough pancakes! Service good. Only downside is the temperature of this place....SO uncomfortably hot! Get some more ceiling fans!

We stayed in the area and came here at the recommendation of a friend. Their breakfast is DELICIOUS. As an AZ resident, we're judgmental about breakfast burritos but theirs was really good. And if you leave hungry it's your own fault! It's a tight squeeze in there, and it wasn't very busy when we were visiting - I'd probably find it a little overwhelming on a busy day, but we ate there on a weekday so it worked to our advantage.

We just moved to the neighborhood and went in to try it out. We were greeted with a smile from the owner and taken care of by the daughter. Their menu is constantly changing and the portions are on the larger side. We have been back a couple of times since and have enjoyed it just as much. The hot cocoa is awesome and comes in a very large cup!!

This is by far the best breakfast place I found in Seattle. The food is so original and delicious. This is where I discovered for the first time Freezer jam YUM. And the coffee is of course incredible. I have yet to have bad coffee Seattle. I love this little quirky restaurant. A must try in the area.

best breakfast i have had in a long time! had the lake union scramble and loved it, the chicken fried steak was awesome

We hit this spot on every trip to Seattle. The food is good and portions are large. The atmosphere is cluttery Seattle grunge but fun.

An Eastlake institution that serves large breakfasts and endless refill coffees. The waitresses call you "honey" and the place has a worn-in feel that is at once comforting and non-hip. Prices are reasonable for Seattle. There's something for everyone here, including vegans. Nothing will blow your mind, but you will come away full and satisfied.

My mom and sisters and I came on a Sunday. We like breakfast and cinnamon rolls and cake...but we did not like the cinnamon rolls or coffee cake here. Bland, low on flavor. Yes, we can all bake, a lot, so we are not an easy audience. My Banana pancakes were very good but the eggs/omelettes etc. everyone else at the table got were more than overdone. The people were gracious but overtaxed. Maybe someone (the baker) was sick? If you are in walking distance, stop here and join the rest of the hood. If you are not, maybe take a pass.

First time here. Three of us all had remarkable meals, two Benedict dishes and one scramble. Did not save room for the pastries, which looked pretty sinful. Looking forward to another visit.

We were staying at a friend's just a couple blocks down and looking for a breakfast spot. 14 Carrot was recommended so we gave it a try. I had the Athenian omelet - it was beautiful. It was one of those "I can't eat it all" meals but I powered through. The coffee was great as was the service. We liked it so much we went back the next day. Coffee wasn't quite as good but very personable waiter who helped me decide what to try...went with the Southern Comfort. The grits were creamy and delicious (maybe could use a little more salt but I fixed that easy enough). I would go out of my way to eat breakfast here again. We ate late as we were told they served big breakfasts so we were willing to pay a little more as we felt like we were getting two meals for the price of one.

I ordered a side of pancakes. They were dry but I didn't say anything because it was just a side. What I didn't realize was that they were $9.50 for TWO pancakes. Pretty ridiculous. The coffee was decent, service was distracted because there was one waitress for the entire restaurant and the busboy/water refill guy went on break halfway through brunch, so that was unfortunate. The cinnamon roll was good but a little tough. Recommend nevertheless.

Great cloudy Seattle morning walk to have breakfast. Great fun atmosphere, quaint. The food was served fast and was delicious.

Had breakfast this morning with my family. Let me start by saying the staff was friendly and nice. Service was fast and the place was ver clean. My scramble was pretty bland! I ordered egg whites with feta and the cheese was pretty light. My husband said his pancakes were gummy (undercooked). Too bad, I have great memories eating some amazing breakfast years ago.

This place was =awful=; I had no idea an omlette could be so bad. I even took home a slice of their infmaous carrot cake in case that was better but it wasn't :(

All-day breakfast. Brunch-type food all week long. These people know and love breakfast. (Other meals too, but it's breakfast I want.) Everyone welcome, regulars treated like friends. Delicious food in hearty portions. A place to come again and again--or to bring visitors. Friendly service, no fawning, no phoniness. Not a cheap diner--and not a hipster hangout. One of the rare places that hits the sweet spot in between.

I stopped in with clients for lunch today. I ordered the club on light rye w/only two slices of bread and house fries. The sandwich was SUPER! The french fries were not crisp, as if they didn't fry/blnch them first. The prices were higher than I would expect. I will be back.

Eggs, pancakes, burritos or anything bacon-inspired. In the mood for great breakfast? Consider a stop at 14 Carrot Cafe! Generous portions of yummy food, endless tasty coffee and service with a smile. What else does a good breakfast spot need?! The proof? The line out the door... get there early.

you had a neighborhood place where the food was always cooked to your order, you had lots of options and the friendly folks "remembered your name ." Well that's 14 carrot cafe. Terry the owner has been there over 20 years running this well used and homey spot with her family. We especially enjoy breakfast here.... great omelets and a wide range of breakfast goodies ( including home made raspberry jam and jumbo cinnamon rolls ). Terry originally hails from Greece and her love of art is shown in the changing parade of artists whose work adorns the walls. There is even a lend library for those who still enjoy hard copy books:) she is meticulous and it shows in the preparation of her food, while simple is more than ample and of high quality. We top it off with cappuccino or an expresso . Getting hungry as we write this:)

We wanted a quick breakfast and were visiting near the 14 Carrot. It was a Saturday, so expected it to be busy. We were lucky to get a table right away.s

Just happened on the 14 carrot cafe Saturday morning. Stopped for breakfast. The cfe was very busy. The service was excellent and the food very good. My friend had the 14 carrot omelet and I had eggs Benedict. Both were very good but not cheap. Both were over. $10.00. I recommend this cafe, but seems to be very busy on weekends,at least.

The Hostess at the front has lots of personality and the food characterizes her introduction. Lots of options to choose from! Very good!

I do. I remember my father's loyalty to businesses based not only on the quality and price but on his belief in and support of the proprietor. I still maintain that to this day and will travel out of my way to honor that loyalty. The 14 carrot café owners have that loyalty from me. Every time I am in Seattle I stop in here and eat breakfast and enjoy conversations with the owner or her daughter. Lively Greek ladies who are not shy in their opinions and who offer excellent service. Means a lot when you have been somewhere 2-3 times and the folks remember you. the Breakfast options are limitless and very well prepared. starting my day with a great breakfast and more importantly with proprietors who genuinely care just makes for a wonderful day. If you have not been here GO! you wont be sorry.

This was a no frills old school charmer. Everything was exceptional from service to quality of food. There was so much flavour in in their food and so much variety including vego options. Reasonable prices and helpful staff. Breakfast burrito was a hit.

We were with a party of about 15, most of whom left disappointed. The server was nice and portions were generous, but the food was just plain bad. I went with an old favorite, biscuits and gravy with eggs. On the plus side, the eggs were good. The biscuits seemed a little past their prime and the only flavor in the gravy was raw flour. The accompanying hash browns were overdone and the sausage was like leather, apparently from being deep fried. I ate about a third of everything and decided to snack on fig bars later. My wife ordered the halibut sandwich, which I sampled, and we agreed that the processed patty, whatever it was, was a pretty poor substitute for actual halibut. A friend had some other kind of sandwich expecting real meat and commented that heated lunch meat wasn't her style. Her husband had a beautiful salad but was unhappy with lettuce that wasn't quite fresh. Few people finished their meals, opting to leave things on the plate .Even a lady who is an avid doggy bagger laughed and refused when asked whether she wanted the rest of the meal to go.

The carrot juice is fresh and the best. I've tried their carrot cake too. IT's filling and delicious. Huevos rancheros is my usual. The service is awesome. It's my default neighborhood brunch place

There were 3 couples who were in Seattle for a few days...and 14 Carrot Cafe and Terry and her crew welcomed us with open arms...they treated us like family. They had great food each morning and Terry helped us with tips for the day for our daily fun adventures we took each day. We left Seattle and 14 Carrots Cafe knowing that someday soon we will be coming back to enjoy this little gem again!!

I go out to Seattle every year over 4th of July Weekend, and this is one of my go to stops. Nice atmosphere, the menu is extensive, and the service is excellent. The cinnamon roll french toast is of particular note, as are the specials that they list on the chalkboards above the kitchen entrance. (There was once a Dungeness Crab Omelette that was masterfully done.) They add frills to the standard breakfast menu without losing the general comfort of a well done morning meal.

Pleasant service. Leisurely environment on a weekday morning. Good variety of breakfast foods. Also have a lunch menu, but we didn't try it.

We really enjoyed the ambiance and the breakfast food. The servings were fresh, hot and very filling. The wait staff are all pros. We ordered one of their omelettes with an extra side of bacon. The presentation was fast, pleasant to the eye and very tasty. Fresh fruit. Would definitely return.

we had a great breakfast here and the staff was very freidnly. Please try the salmon bagel, is it not your usual bagel. Very delicious!

Ate breakfast here at the recommendation of our resident daughters. Our orders included a Spinach feta omelette, cinnamon French toast, and the Salmon Scramble. The food is delicious. The friendly Greek lady (owner), came by to chat, and stayed to talk with us for a bit. Very nice lady. Make time to stop in here for a meal - it's worth it.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle! Whenever my family comes to town, we go and get their chicken curry. It is my absolute favorite! If you are in the mood for breakfast food, they have other great options including their giant cinnamon rolls. The only bummer is that the 14 Carrot is only open until 3pm, so make sure to stop by in the early afternoon.

This is a small restaurant but serves great food. Breakfast and lunch only. The servings are generous and very tasty.

Breakfast mid morning was exceptional. Complete all-bases-covered menu offers old standbys and some new twists. The Armenian omelet with lamb meat was quite tasty. Solid hash browns Easy on the wallet and great service

I wanted to get back here to try the lunch items as they all looked tempting. Next visit. Being a pancake junky, though, I had to have the sourdough pancakes on my first visit. They are superb and the server kept the coffee hot until we we left.

Funky little Greek Café in business district Eat Lake Union in Seattle. Lot of good American food served by friendly wait staff. Kept our family in stitches while enjoying a great lunch.

The food was very good and the staff tried their best to keep up with the high volume. Dungeness crab Benedict was tasty and the service more than made up for the slipped yolk. Absolutely worth it.

We always enjoy the friendly service here, food is not always consistent. We had so so breakfast. Will give it another try soon.

Great little restaurant that we always eat at. Their Curry Chicken is one of our favorite meals. They were short on staff so we waited forever for our food but we like it enough that we looked past it. They are only open till 3pm so plan accordingly.

The BEST & ONLY place in King County to get great food, service and dining atmosphere! The owner Terry is wonderfully friendly, professional and knows what her customers want! It's everything a nice café should have. I recommend to anyone who's visiting Seattle or a resident to come in and see what a great place 14 Carrot Café is all about! Thanks Terry, Sarah w/Skyline Publishing!!

Fresh ingredients and unique specials made this gem stand out. Terrific breakfast. Definitely try the coffee cake...

Had breakfast here at least 4 or 5 times this month. Food and coffee have always been good. Average for breakfast typically costs me at least $15-$18 per person, on the high side for me. I'd go more often if the price were less. Sitting at the window looking out at Eastlake Ave, drinking coffee, eating great food, chatting with my kids, enjoying the warmth of 14 Carrot's owner and servers.....very nice!

We actually ate here twice. The first time was carry out. The sandwiches and pancakes that our group ordered were all well liked. The second time we ate in was on a very hot day. Unfortunately, the heat factor made the dining experience a bit less enjoyable. However, the food was good and the staff so nice! The people were so nice and we appreciated their effort despite the heat. We would return for the food. However, not on a 90 degree day.

Our late breakfast sampled eggs benedict, the waffle special and huevos rancheros along with one of the best cinnamon rolls we've had. Locals abound in this Eastlake Ave neighborhood spot that features a variety of coffee shops and restaurants that make this a destination stop near the famed boat houses at the end of Lynn Street several blocks below 14 Carrot.

First time to visit—it won’t be the last. Very eclectic menu that doesn’t disappoint. From simple eggs to more exotic fare. All served by friendly staff. Looking forward to another visit.

I have eaten at 14 Carrots many times and always enjoyed the food. Service is fast too. But my overall experience has been very different depending on whether I was just with adult friends or with my family and small kids. The place is relatively small, has small tables and can be quite pack with people at times. It seems that the normal clientele are small groups of adults enjoying a quiet conversation or some singles eating their breakfast with a newspaper. Whenever I have gone there with kids I haven't felt quite as comfortable. It is naturally subtle, but you get the wrong vibes from the looks of other customers when your child raise his/her voice or the akward service from the waiter/waitress. On the other hand, when I have been there with friends, I have really enjoyed the place and loved the quieter environment for a good chat. So I can see both sides of the coin. Good food anyway will have me come back. Love the Pacific scramble.

Very generous sized dishes. You will not leave hungry. The service is pleasant. The food is good. Was easy finding parking on a Sunday.

Friendly staff, delicious flavors and fresh ingredients. The carrot cake pancakes were unexpected and fantastic! Added bonus to have a mimosa carafe. Can’t wait to come back!

I love restaurants like 14 Carrots. It's family run with someone always there to fill up your coffee mug. Always good hearty meals, just a good down to earth place for me to go for breakfast or lunch. I hope Seattle developers stop and realize how important cafes like 14 Carrots are to the overall ambiance of this city, before they buy up the next city block and mow the next wonderful old cafe down.

I stopped at the 14 Carrot Cafe while on a business trip in Seattle. What a nice Cafe. My Latte was excellent, I really liked their French toasts with a fresh fruit cup on the side. The service was very friendly. I recommend this place.

great sunday brunch

Last of a dying breed of great breakfast joints. Also next to world famous Zoo Tavern - unchanged for 40 years. Beer and wine only traditional Seattle “tavern” with pool tables and tv’s.

Wow! What a busy little breakfast and lunch place! Gluten Free options were plenty and delicious! Our server was sassy, efficient and so friendly. You could tell they love their regulars. I would eat here often if I lived local!

Whimisical, comfy eatery with plenty to read ( they have loads of magazines and books) and if you forget your glasses they have a small barrel at cashier's area full of them! The pancakes come in some really interesting flavors. I also learned that not all folks from Seattle drink Starbucks. Cafe Vitta is the "Joe" of choice. Nice place to people watch both inside and out too!

Apparently this place is great for breakfast but my daughter and I went for lunch. Her grilled cheese with fresh fruit was good. My taco salad was a disaster. Cubed over cooked chicken, some black beans with cut up tomato pieces and onion, lettuce, a topping of sour cream, sliced avacodo and a hint of shredded cheese on top. This also came with fresh fruit which while good seemed an odd combo. No salsa so after the sour cream is gone a very dry salad. To make it worse the waitress never came back to top off drinks or ask if all was good. We initially heard her say to someone else after we sat down that this job wasn't doing anything for her then later my daughter translated her spanish complaints to the cook about her job. Mind you this was not a teenage waitress but a woman in her 30s or 40s. Nope not going back and I regret I even left a good tip!!

Had a great lunch at the 14 Carrot Cafe, which has a nice friendly atmosphere and fantastic food. Portions are large and it is a very busy place at breakfast and lunch, so be prepared to wait your food. Of course, all good things come to those who wait! And there are so many good things on the menu here that it difficult to know where to begin. I chose the Pacific Scramble, which was a glorious mess of eggs, salmon, shrimp and vegetables that was one of the best brunch dishes I have ever had. Finished with perfect had browns and sourdough toast (your choice of toast). Great location and neighborhood for a stroll and the restaurant is close to Patrick's Fly Shop, one the best fly fishing shops in this country. The 14 Carrot Cafe is worth the wait and there is a charming bustle quality to the place and it's eclectic decor and good humored (overworked) servers. Breakfast all day doesn't get much better than this!

I think ( I hope I am not exaggerating ) that I have been going here for breakfast for over 30 years. Hadn't gone in forever but we stopped in and had a great basic breakfast. This and Louisa's are my favorites in the area.

very cute place, nice food, and our waiter was nice too. Not sure about parking, I think we were lucky and find a spot really close. A cute neighborhood café. It was a Saturday and they were super busy...

Excellent service, lots of variety on the menu, big portions.... highly recommend the scramblers and the poppyseed pancakes!

Being from England we try to make sure we go to cafes used by locals when we visit the US. This was recommended by our Airbnb host. WOW!!! The choice on the menu was crazy! We came for breakfast and all had different dishes. Every one was beautifully presented and huge! My cinnamon roll French toast was literally heaven on a plate, I have never had anything like it! Our server was so friendly and quick to refill. The price so reasonable for the amount of food we had. If only we lived closer, we would be regulars for sure!
Very Good Grub
It had been years since I was at this place. It is looking a little bit tired but still pumps out delicious food with the best (anywhere) home made potatoe chips you will ever find. they are to die for excellent !!!!
