Lives up to the reviews

Food, service, ambiance, and price were all spot on at 1618. The reviews are accurate. We really liked how prompt and friendly, yet unobtrusive, the entire staff treated us.

Very good place

By Ron R |

This is a wonderful place. Nice atmosphere and above average service. The food is the star here. We ordered the chicken dumplings 4/5, pork and shrimp egg rolls 5/5, grilled baby octopus 2/5 (this was the most disappointing because I was so looking forward to it), orange chicken 4/5, and sesame chicken 5/5 (big hit order a second round), and lamb chops 5/5. For dessert we had creme brûlée 5/5 and the cheese cake flambé 5/5 (amazing dessert and a show). Nice cocktail, beer, and wine choices.

A Truly Great Night with One Big Mistake

By cinema14618 |

After a lot of research, we settled on 1618 for a rehearsal dinner for 20+ people as a prelude to our son and his fiancé’s wedding. And we were very glad we did. Management couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. The food was fantastic, very special and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Lastly, the service was also very good and severs were constantly around to make sure we always had what we needed. All in all, it was a truly superior experience! There’s a great wine list by the way! The only thing and this was a big one was that when the bill came, the $500 deposit we previously gave them was not reflected on it. And if I hadn’t caught it, we would have been out the money and $500 is a lot of money. It’s a mistake you just can’t make. Other than that, everything was really really great and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.

Typical Pan-Asian Joint

By J E |

While in the area one evening and having a yearning for Pho, we saw this restaurant on social media and were amazed at such amazing reviews, especially for a pan-Asian joint, so we decide to give them a try. We got there just in time, because there was no wait, but by the time we were leaving, there was a huge line waiting for seating. Our server, Chou was friendly and helpful. I told him I was concerned about an Asian restaurant serving Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai, but he explained they do each very well. So, we opted for Tom Yum, Pho and Dim Sum (beef dumplings)… something from each style they serve. Tom Yum – This had a nice flavor, decent fish sauce taste, but was a little on the dark (in color) side. There was also a big chunk of chicken I got in my mouth loaded with skin/fat, which was rather gross. Pho – Though the texture of the noodles seemed legit, the broth was dark from what appeared was an abundance of soy sauce that was added to it. I don’t recall ever seeing nor having soy sauce in my Pho in the past. Beef Dumplings – At Chou’s suggestion, I ordered them pan-fried. They were really good! Lots of great ginger flavor in the beef inside the dumpling. They seem to fry them up in a pan with some sort of egg white mixture that adds an interesting crispy “web” to them, making the presentation really nice. My assessment is they’re definitely not authentic, but the flavors are decent. The décor is nice and service is fast and pleasant as well. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the beautiful venue. And they have a nice, large wine list too. As for me, I prefer to go to a specific restaurant for Pho or Chinese or Thai or Sushi or Ramen… These are not typically interchangeable restaurants.

A Jewel!

Wow, this place was a lucky find for us! We drove in around 7pm and needed dinner. We decided to come here after looking at reviews and it WAS AMAZING! The fusion recipes they have on their menus are unique! RESERVATIONS are recommended for dinner time! Luckily they squeezed us in and we LOVE this place! The drinks were yummy (Dragonfruit Mule<similar to moscow mule with dragonfruit crushed) and the DESSERT ("Thai something" but it has fruity pebbles and an espresso pour over ice cream is to DIE FOR). We will DEFINITELY be coming back here!

Make your special occasion memorable

By Gabi G |

My husband and I selected 1618 Asian Fusion to celebrate our anniversary. We had a dinner reservation. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. All servers that came by our table were super attentive and kind. We ordered a couple items from the appetizers menu (highly recommend the sampler appetizer platter) and then banana leaf steamed salmon with panang sauce/ brown rice and Pad Thai. The presentation was beautiful, dished had perfect flavor and the portions were perfect. The restaurant was almost full but the service was quite fast. Our server Anjaneth was the best and Catherine, the restaurant manager, really made our experience memorable. She came by to thank us for selecting their restaurant for a special occasion, and she made me feel like a valuable guest. Some restaurant facts: Opened in January 2020 They serve both lunch and dinner They have a private room that seats 16 - 18. Reservations are not required but are appreciated. They do serve walk-in but you might have to wait. This was our first time but we will definitely be back. THANK YOU!

Great experience

We went for dinner and had a very good meal. Waiter was attentive and had good suggestions. Whole fish was excellent. There was a guitar player/singer that was solid. Recommended

Disappointing Dining Experience at 1618 Asian Fusion

By Lazlo Wilder |

I recently visited 1618 Asian Fusion with high expectations, but sadly, my experience fell far short of what I had anticipated. From the lackluster service to the underwhelming food, my overall impression of this restaurant was quite poor. To start, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive throughout my entire visit. It took an eternity for someone to take our orders, and even then, they seemed rushed and uninterested in answering our questions about the menu. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was disheartening, and it greatly affected the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Moving on to the food, I found it to be a significant letdown. The menu boasted a fusion of Asian flavors, but the execution fell flat. The dishes lacked the complexity and depth of flavor I had hoped for. The portions were disappointingly small, considering the prices charged. It felt as if the chef was simply going through the motions without any real passion or creativity. The presentation was unremarkable, failing to excite both visually and gastronomically. Furthermore, the overall cleanliness and atmosphere of the restaurant were far from satisfactory. The tables and floors appeared grimy, and the lack of attention to detail was apparent. The ambiance lacked warmth and charm, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the dining experience fully. To add to my disappointment, the prices at 1618 Asian Fusion were quite high, considering the subpar quality of the food and service. I left feeling like I had overpaid for an experience that was far from worth it. In conclusion, 1618 Asian Fusion failed to meet my expectations in every aspect. The lackluster service, mediocre food, and underwhelming ambiance made for a disappointing dining experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant to others seeking an enjoyable fusion dining experience. There are certainly better options available in the area.

Amazing Food and Top-Notch Service

By JDSoui |

Had a business lunch and the ambiance, food and service were spot on. The attendants gave sound recommendations and suggestions. The curry was delicious with a nice kick, and the dim sum delicious. Would recommend if in the area.

Exceptional restaurant/amazing food!

By Bryan |

This is an amazing Asian fusion restaurant. Been there twice now and the food is exceptional. Calamari Salt/Pepper is delicious. Pad Thai is very good. Curry’s are excellent and DimSum is very good. Has to be one of my favorites now in Austin.

Great place for Sunday Funday

By Patrick S |

Great place for Sunday funday, food was really good. Filet mignon pho soup was very good. Great service too. Friendly and almost nightclub setting. Love it will definitely come back.

Delicious food and drinks!

By Charlie W |

So many great things to say about this place! The food is delicious. Love the calamari and pho especially! If I’m in the mood to drink I definitely can’t resist getting a Smokey old fashioned. And for dessert you can go wrong with the cheesecake flambé! One of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had!

It's good

Everything had great flavor but was hard to find on trip advisor Average ticket was around 50.00 a person Would call ahead if going to dinner there will be a wait.... See pictures attached

Good food and ambience

By PrinksSS |

We were looking for Thai food and found this unique place in our search. While the entrance to the restaurant could have been confusing, the team has taken every measure to ensure that they guide guests to the right spot. Beautiful bamboo fittings and objects adorn the place, and there is a bar at the back. We tried the dragonfruit rose refresher, the green thai iced tea & the tender coconuts. Highly recommend all! Our server Bryan recommended the lamb chops to me and I couldn't have enough of it. We also had the banana leaf spicy steam salmon which was good. The manager came down at the end and explained to us the long traditional Japanese process of steaming in sake that the fish goes through before it gets to the table. The filet mignon green curry was passable though. Overall, would recommend this place for multiple visits.

Amazing

Outstanding food and service. We were a very large party if about 18 persons and we had the most amazing person. The servers were polite, knowledgeable and guided us well with our food options. Even the drinks and cocktails were amazing. Highly recommended place fir dinner

Awesome+

Great food. Amazing service. Siri brought us here when we asked her for the best restaurant in Austin.

There is a reason it is a top restaurant in Austin- go here!

By Shawna S |

The food was exceptional. We came on an evening with live music. The waiter was very helpful in trying to narrow down our selections. We decided to have everything family style so we could taste it all. It was the right decision for us. The green curry and pad Thai were fantastic. The coconut rice was good, but not the favorite. We also had the flambé and I highly recommend it for dessert.

Green curry filet and dumplings...do it

By jpuchar |

Green curry filet was the bomb. Dumplings were amazing as well. We had other items like yellow curry, crispy pad Thai. Amd sesame chicken. We were slurping the green curry sauce. Upon return these are camt miss items. Had a great experience.

Uniquely Awesome! A Must Try!

By Christopher E |

Wow! Not that impressive from the outside, but is impressive inside. The food is uniquely awesome. Several well done standard Asian staples, but some truly unique dishes. We had the Duck. Told it's a 3 day process to prepare. What I can testify is that it's the best Duck I've ever had. The whole fish dishes we saw at other tables were impressive and heard raving comments. A must for the next visit. I love Tum Yum Kha soup so I've had it at several places. This was the best I've ever had (with warning, I'm hot spicy sensitive so I asked them to tone it down, which they did, but would have been too spicy for me if they hadn't - they can tone it down, just ask). On that topic, staff was great. My first time there and can't say sing their praises enough. Well done!

Fusion confusion

By Khai L |

I like that the main room is open to the street as well as the wooden space dividers and ceiling structure. The plants around the restaurant need some love. The restaurant has not been open for long and they already look sad. Invest in the maintenance of the ambiance. Food overall is ok. I had the grilled octopus, duck skewers, combo fried rice and Vietnamese bowl. Nothing jumped out as spectacular. The skewers are overwhelmed with seasoning that you can't tell you're eating duck. The grilled pork in Vietnamese bowl is modest in portion and generous in salt. I applaud them for serving appetizers on these "bamboo" like plates.

Beautiful decor and even better food

By Katherine P |

Located in a residential apartment complex that had several 1st floor business. The restaurant seemed to very new such that the menus were crisp and pages hard to turn since they were so new. The first thing that caught my eye is the beautiful decor from the moment we walked in. We didn’t have a reservation but were seated immediately. The restaurant seemed to get much busier after we got there. Atmosphere is great, food is even better. We started with the lemongrass duck skewers (read great reviews on this) and calamari salted pepper. For entrees ordered the Saigon grilled lamb chops and fried sea bass. I loved everything we ordered and already started planning to go back to try more.

Great Fusion!

Given the price point, I would say the restaurant exceeded my expectations. The dishes were well-presented and flavorful and the service was engaging and friendly.

Curry me home, because I’m too satisfied to drive

By Nathan B |

Possibly the best curry I’ve had in years. The staff was extremely helpful, food was amazing, and parking was easy. 10/10 would eat here again

Great food, excellent service, just a bit too loud.

By Bill D |

We met some friends who are locals for supper on a Friday night. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our friend ordered for the table and we had a smattering of dishes which were all very good. The broth in the pho was amazing even though I’m not usually someone who has soup for supper. Everything was served in large portions and a single meal can easily feed two. The only downside is the music and chatter was so loud we could barely hear ourselves just across the table.

Late lunch Saturday

My Asian fix was satisfied for lunch @1618asianfusion. Fabulous ambiance, service, and food just South of downtown Austin on East Riverside. It was a balmy November day with sun. Perfect to eat either indoors or outside. With the heavy traffic on East Riverside, we opted for an inside table with a garage-style window rolled up. Perfect balance. Started off with grilled octopus. Good, but not quite the same texture or flavor profile as Spanish pulpo. I highly recommend Austin's downtown Red Ash Italia for that delicious small plate. Followed up with 2 versions of Vietnamese bowl. Pork won hands down. L6. Vietnamese Bowl (GF) Vermicelli, Egg roll (4 pieces to share), grilled pork, mint, pickled papaya, spring mix, green onion, peanut served with lemon fish sauce. L7. Duck Skewer Bowl Same ingredients as L6 above minus the egg roll. We ordered side egg roll and it was overkill on quantity. Total lunch $70 including 2 proseccos and 1 Vietnamese coffee. Highly recommend.

TOP NOTCH ASIAN FUSION FOOD

By AEBBrenham |

A great dinner was had here at 1618 Asian Fusion. An eclectic and innovative menu of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai Dishes. Running the gamut from Seafood, Meat, and Soups, to Vegetarian Selections. We tried the Shrimp Pork Spring Rolls, Wonton Soup, Meatball and Filet Mignon Pho, Filet Mignon Thai Green Curry w/ Eggplant, Mushrooms, Onions, Green and Red Peppers. Very Spicy. All of the dishes were perfectly spiced and flavorful. Crisp and Attentive Service. Beautiful Decor. Mostly moderate pricing, with some Seafood Dishes falling into the more expensive range. Parking Available. A Winner!

Snapper and duck 🔥

By Buckminister B |

So good! I plan on trying everything on the menu. Had a chill band playing on Friday night too. The drinks are pretty solid and priced moderately as well. The mango margarita and lychee Martini are good starts.

Great food and service

By RealWaew |

We drove from Temple to Austin and found this restaurant close by. Location is good close to main street but it is difficult to find parking. Restaurant atmosphere is nice relaxing and clean. Food was fantastic, we order redsnapper with tamarind sauce and Peking duck. Appreciated great service and special thanks to Catherine who took care of us during meal and pay attention in every detail of my questions. We will be back with our family next time. Highly recommend.

Amazing Asian food in Austin

By Katianne |

Our family was craving some Asian food and settled in this place. As a Bay Area native, I get to try a lot of Asian food but this place definitely stood out. We ordered beef pho, filet mignon, red curry with duck, coconut crab rice, and pineapple fried rice. The beef pho was very rich and flavorful; the curry was spicy and very authentic, and the filet mignon was wonderfully succulent. I would definitely recommend this place!

Kind of disappointed

By Gary T |

We visited for a Sunday lunch and were somewhat disappointed. The appetizers and dim-sum we ordered were all so-so. Nothing really jumped out at us as something we had to have again. It is a very pretty space and our service was very good.
