Delicious if a bit pricey

By QuietCanadian |

Pretty nice, lovely ambiance. Delicious food but wow was it a bit over my price range. Would go back if there was more space.

OMG THE worst dining experience of all time!

By John S |

Felt like a VFW Lounge. Food arrived cold. Waiter told us he was responsible for the entire dining room and all in-room service as well. Water was disgusting - as if from the dish sink after washing but prior to emptying. Waited 20 minutes for check. Ridiculous.

Dope Ass Bartender

By Chrissy T |

Loved this place. The bartender on the 18th floor was amazing. Really personal and lively, even helped my friend find her purse when she lost it. My husband, famous piano player and singer, loved him as well

It's all about the view

By wrinkldogs |

Had our meeting dinner here. Not too much choice on the menu. Food was adequate. We chose to eat here as the weather was too bad to go outside. Ate breakfast at their buffet. A good amount of choices and cooked to order eggs. A little pricey but typical for the area.

Great view!

By cb1bass |

I enjoyed being able to take in the view of the city below. The bartender was especially friendly and responsive. She was on her own, yet managed to serve me in a timely manner and with good cheer!

Average buffet but has a continental option

By Aunt_FredRocks |

For $16 you can get the full buffet with an omelette/egg station and waffles. Includes the buffet (eggs, meat, potatoes), pastries, coffee or tea, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice, and oatmeal. Or for $10 you can just do the cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt and oatmeal. Hot food was average. No options for food sensitivities- only soy milk as an alternative. Very limited gluten free choices. Considering there are few breakfast places near by this was convenient.

Great burger, great view.

By citygirlstuck |

I talked myself into going to the hotel restaurant late on a Tuesday night with low expectations for tasty food. The first impression is a beautiful view of Austin at night. I ordered the burger, which came with fries, and a beer. Customers were non-existent, and I sat at the bar, so service was good. The burger was great, as were the fries.

Nice breakfast buffet

By Ambie0206 |

We stayed at the HGI/Downtown and ate breakfast each day at the top floor restaurant. We thought it had a nice selection with an agreeable price. The view is fantastic. We ate early enough to essentially watch the sun rise over Austin. That was great!

Still craving the breakfast...

By MelindaD972 |

Made to order omelettes, southwest breakfast potatoes, and perfectly cooked bacon... The breakfast scramble with cheddar cheese and potatoes was the ultimate breakfast comfort food. Convenient and tasty breakfast if you're staying at the HIlton Garden Inn.

Good food and a great daytime view.

By barcodeVegas |

We enjoyed a buffet breakfast here that was excellent. We went back at night to see the view but they had the lights in the room too bright to get a good look at the city. The view is great by day though.

Cold

By Jackie M |

We were staying in the hotel so we went up for dinner. It was so ice cold that we were going to get our sweaters but upon looking at the dining room which is horribly outdated and without any ambience we opted for room service instead.

Expensive

By Sqeeky17 |

Expensive for what you usually get for free at other hotels. We had been told that breakfast was included, but that turned out to be not true.

Great views with great service!

By Danny S |

Great panoramic views of downtown Austin which I'm not sure any other restaurant has! They also had a great happy hour from 4 to 6:30 which made my experience even better!

Beautiful Views

By Jessica C |

Beautiful views, good food, and very friendly, attentive staff! As a hotel guest, we enjoyed breakfast as well as dinner. Wonderful dine-in experience. It was quiet and a great place to unwind after a day of meetings.

Lovely View

By Catherine F |

The atmosphere and view were excellent. The food and drinks were very good. There was only one drawback that I am not sure the hotel can do anything about. There was a group there that was pretty loud with a lot of f...this and sh.. that. Really people a little more class please.

Lovely City of Austin view and multiple food selections.

By MelMel703 |

Chef cooking omelettes, waffles or scrambled eggs to order, full hot selections on side, toppings & sides for items, usual pastries, raw & sliced fruits, yogurt, oatmeal with toppings, juices, teas, coffee and more. My daughter and I were very pleased. Hot selections are changed, and I assume daily.

The worst meal experience at any HGI - ever

By Keith H |

The bad reviews should have kept me away but with a free breakfast voucher I thought I couldn't go wrong. I'll find breakfast somewhere else for the rest of my stay. Breakfast buffet met minimum expectations (very average) however I haven't been this ignored since a teenage train wreck date. Staff has serious issues. To finish my meal I put a dollar on the table although the waitress didn't deserve it and finally left my FREE voucher on the cash register because the cashier was to busy gossiping. What a waste. I must say this morning I'm completely UNDERWHELMED!

Good Breakfast Buffet

By TravelinBears |

You can have omelets made to order and belgian waffles. Fresh fruit, cereal, yogurts, pastries, breads available too.

Great view, cheap bar bites

By Anthony F |

Very nice bar/restaurant above the HGI, overlooking downtown. Small bites and beer are very cheap, service is fantastic. They serve food until 10p, and are open for drinks until 11p.

Terrible restaurant

By KRob |

The restaurant was never open. Only the bar. The food was bad and took forever. The bar was dirty. Generally a bad experience.

Brandon the bartender was a rockstar!!!

By Jennifer G |

We had drinks here before heading out to dinner. Well dinner never happened. We ordered from here, ahi tuna tacos, while vising with Brandon. He was so much fun to talk with we decided to hang out with him for a while. It was awesome. Friendly and very informative when we asked questions about different drinks. I highly recommend the Ghost Margarita!!!

Not worth the money

By CM4926 |

Very pricey and the view is not worth the money you will spend. Food is typical hotel food and there is no atmosphere.

Good food good service

By Jon E |

My wife and I ate at 18th 4 times, once for dinner and three times for breakfast. For dinner my wife had a chicken pepper sandwich with fries and I had a burger with fries. Both meals were prepared just as we asked for them and were very good. Breakfasts featured (as buffet) biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage, egg scramblers, (different every day), Bread, sweet rolls, bagels, English muffins, made to order omelets and other egg variations, and there was a large quantity of fresh melon, strawberries, pineapple, bananas, and mangos. Overall I give them a four out of five. They are a little pricey

Great breakfast

By Christiejones |

Very good food. Breakfast buffet had fruit, omelet bar, waffles, biscuits, bacon, pastries, great coffee and just about anything else you could want for breakfast. The best part is the view! You can see all of downtown Austin. The breakfast was part of a package we paid for with the hotel. We ate well and did not need lunch.

Great view of downtown

By Sarah B |

We enjoyed eating breakfast here and getting a cocktail before venturing out for the evening. View was great. The floor was a bit chilly so be sure you have a light coat or sweater. We were there during the record rainfall and we could see the weather happening as it came across the city.

Outstanding grub.....somewhat reasonable $$ !

By Bud B |

Outstanding grub.....somewhat reasonable $$ ! This restaurant inside the Hilton Garden Inn on I 35 has some really quality food. The Bacon Burger was outstanding in every way! They also have a really good selection of beers (for a Hilton Garden Inn).

Good price and basic American food

By old-jogger |

Breakfast here is great. Dinner is a good price, but a bit bland. I ordered a garden salad and it was mainly iceberg lettuce. I also had a clubhouse. Typical American food - way too much ham and turkey - could have increased the quality and decreased the quantity.

Understaffed bar with disappointing food

By David L |

The 18th floor provides a wonderful view and a potentially great environment. There is a good atmosphere at the bar but when more than a few people are there it is understaffed. I ate there once and the food was very poor.

Breakfast Buffet

By kwhy |

I would categorize this as a standard breakfast buffet. It included an omelet/waffle station that accommodated eggs made to order. The other items on the buffet included the typical fare - scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, potatoes, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc. Service was good on a day when they probably had a bigger crown than expected.

Fantastic omlet

By ShAronmarie3311 |

Excellent breakfast buffet I opted for a veggie omlet Perfectly prepared Personable chef and exceptional waitstaff Loved the view of down town Austin waking up.

Great view

By Brian C |

Great view of the state Capitol and well done breakfast buffet. Chef made omlets, waffles etc., fruit, bacon, sausage, coffee and juice.

Great food & service

By F5918HMmaryk |

We had both breakfast and dinner there. The dinner menu was quite limited, but what they offer is very good. The service was excellent. Breakfast included made to order omelettes that were perfectly made. There's a clear view of the city, including the Capitol.

Food is lacking

By Fran R |

Not much variety and the quality is poor. Breakfast buffet bacon is never crisp always limp as a noodle.

Not Good.

By three64 |

Dinner after a day of flying that started at 0200. The wedge salad was good. The waitress was no e and attentive when she didn't have to leave and deliver room service meals. Not a big deal. When I asked what beers they had, waitress said she would bring a bar menu. Bar menu arrived and it said domestics were $3 during happy hour, which it was at the time. Ordered two Shiner Bocks (domestic). Burger arrived. Bun was soaked with grease and inedible. Fries were those waffle style and they were undercooked, or what I call "stroft". The bad food wasn't her fault and the waitress took my meal off the bill, but the beers were charged at $5 each. When asked about this, waitress said the $3 bill only applied if I sat at the bar. Wow! Good to know after the fact.

Nice Hotel, Great Bar

By TeamGumz |

A couple of my coworkers were situated in the Hilton and insisted we have drinks at the 18th floor. They described it as a nicer, fairly upscale hotel bar, so my expectations were not high. The bar was very neat and clean, the bar tender was quick, polite, and served free snacks. Drinks were well made, the beer menu was varied, but what made this a great place to visit was the excellent nighttime view of Austin! Only downfall was the 11pm last call. This drove us to 6th street to finish off the night.

Breakfast gives a great start to the day

By Susan C |

I dined here for breakfast, tried the breakfast buffet. They have an egg station so I asked for an egg white omelet with vegetables. It was delicious, and fast! The waiter was very attentive with coffee and juice refills.

high price for what you get

By wallbs |

I had breakfast there the first day. They make eggs and omelettes to order and have a few choices in pastries and a bit of fruit. With tip it cost me about $17.

No Food for me.

By Sharon W |

I was disappointed that the food choices contains hot spices or jalapenos which we could not eat, not everyone has a iron stomach. The restaurant was so cold the food did not stay warm. First night they were out of "Mamas Meatloaf" ordered the burger and the bottom bun was so soggy, I could not pick it up. Next time I ordered the pork chop well done which came rare and by the time they recooked it I ate all the sides. Best to go find another restaurant. The breakfast was fair, but cold, nothing worse than cold food unless you had it fresh cooked.

Great View & Great Food!

By KD0502 |

The restaurant on the 18th floor was lovely. Food was presented well and all of the food was delicious. The cocktails were delightful and the view over Austin really is quite something. The staff were so great and very attentive. Even on a quiet mid-week evening, the restaurant had a great atmosphere. Quite a small menu with limited choices but the taco topped chicken and burger were great! Would highly recommend.

GREAT SERVICE AND A BEAUTIFUL VIEW

By niciandnick |

Enjoyed cocktails and the view on my final night in town! This place is awesome!! The bartenders are very attentive!

Amazing staff for breakfest

By Richard D |

One young lady ran the floor, getting drinks, bussing tables, etc... She was a rockstar. Maria at the Omelet waffle station was quick and made a excellent breakfast to order. There were on average 6-10 tables in the room at all times and it just flowed excellent.

One night stay

By Robin B |

My husband and I met some folks for a night out in Austin. The location was great, the room was very clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed our stay.

Sub-par Bar

By Lori-Ellen S |

Was staying at the Hilton and went upstairs to the bar/restaurant one night. The view is lovely but the bartender could have cared less if I was there or not. Here's a thing, if you have a "craft" cocktail menu, you should have bartenders that know how to make the drinks. It's sad because it's a nice bar area and the restaurant area is quite spacious and updated. But its almost like they aren't even trying. I ordered a manhattan and it was not well done at all. I didn't order food.

nice bar

By courtney g |

Over looking Austin, great view of the capital and the frost building. Wonderful breakfast buffet. Personalize your own omelets, waffle maker and lots of other things you can choose from, the waiters give you your space but are very attentive and helpful. Kinda pricey but well worth it in my opinion. The lunch is just as well, and the happy hour was amazing.
