Delicious, but pricey, brunch

By Kathleen C |

This was our second visit to 24 with our daughter. The food is always delicious, but is quite expensive for brunch. However, for the occasional visit, this is okay. Plus, the servings are so large, they can be easily shared or "doggy bagged" for a later meal or two. There are several types of hash that are always good. The eggs are never over cooked. The coffee is hot and keeps coming. One negative is how loud the cafe is. Not a place for an intimate conversation. I really enjoy eating here. Get there early so that you won't have to wait for a table.

Awesome 24 Hour Restaurant

By Jacob E |

Great 24 hour diner with tons of options and delicious fried chicken and waffles, good enough to rival those sold at bacon!

Late night snacks

By Texan4life |

Stopped in after a late night out. The service and food were both excellent. I would highly recommend their hibiscus tea, and ANYTHING off the menu.

So many delicious options it's hard to decide!

By LDOtraveler |

So many delicious options it's hard to decide! Great place to have breakfast at any time. We went with a cheese plate as an appetizer, delicious and the Food Network features meatloaf and it did not disappoint. Service was great.

Great breakfast

Excellent breakfast, lovely friendly staff, Hannah was particularly kind to these UK tourists who were a bit baffled by the menu! Locally sourced food was delicious. Highly recommended

A Very Popular Farm to Table Breakfast Spot with Excellent Food

By IllyCoffeeDrinkers |

The 24 Diner is a very popular farm to table breakfast spot that serves excellent food. We had breakfast at the Diner around 10:00 AM on a Saturday and the place was hopping with a steady stream of cheerful patrons. The interior has contemporary décor with many large windows, high tables, booths, and a bar (seating is a little tight). There is also outdoor seating. The menu has something for everyone and the kitchen is very flexible. We ordered 24 Hash and a basic breakfast of Scrambled Eggs, Sausages and Potatoes (photos attached). Both of the dishes were tasty and excellent. While dining we also saw many plates of Chicken and Waffles go by that looked very good. We have sampled variations of the basic breakfast of Scrambled Eggs, Bacon or Sausage and Potatoes in many other cities and a number of states so one of us tried this Diner’s offering for comparison. We rate this offering among the best. The portions were hearty and everything was well done. Of particular note, the sausages were spicy and the potatoes had a fresh onion flavor. Our server was very enthusiastic and told us she had enjoyed working at the Diner for over 3 ½ years. The coffee was very good and refilled regularly without asking. As an added bonus, our server provided a free large to-go cup of coffee just before the bill was paid (always appreciated). This upscale establishment does not have the look or feel of a classic diner but the food is well worth the trip.  If you found this review and/or our photos helpful, we hope you will click the “helpful” button. Those of us who write reviews appreciate the feedback and it encourages us to write additional reviews for everyone’s consideration. Thank you.

Saturday Breakfast Hit

By Roger B |

Large portions! Ordered the 24 hash and wife had the yogurt parfait! Both were very tasty with big chunks of sausage, bacon and melted cheddar cheese topped with 2 eggs. Yogurt parfait was loaded with fresh fruit and wonderful crunchy granola. More food than we could eat!

Don’t pass on the chicken & waffles!

By promanzo |

This was a great late night hit for me and my husband. The waitress knew we were out of towners & gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, but she highly recommended the chicken and waffles, which I had read about. Since I wasn’t overly hungry we decided to split an order and the plate was over flowing!! It was soooo darn good, and I was extremely happy I got a taste of this before I left Texas! If you are here, just go for a milkshake too. I had the coconut and you can taste bits of the coconut blended in there! I was in a glorious food coma! No problems with lactose afterwards either!

Prepare to wait

By Mayasmommy05 |

We went for breakfast around 9:15. Were told it would be a 15 mins wait or we could sit outside. We sat outside and waited about 20 mins to be greeted then we placed our order and waited another 30 mins for food. My order was fabulous however my daughters hash was not!! The over easy eggs had raw white yolks still, when the waitress came to check on us (another 30 mins) we told her that my daughter couldn’t eat the raw whites in the egg. Mind you she took maybe 3 bites before finding the slime 🤢. The waitress took our plates and came back with the bill, dropped it at the table and said we removed the latte. Ok, so you remove the only thing she consumed 🤷‍♀️ but still charge us for the hash 😡. Just very disappointed. Will not return.

Last breakfast in Austin

By Luannand Colin H |

This was the last day of our short trip and honestly the worst food we had- however the food was good just not as good as the other places we had been. Very busy with all sorts of people on a Tuesday morning- from business meetings to hippies to people just looking for a place to grab a bite. Service was good.

Very good breakfast spot

By bbwex |

The suggestion to go to 24 Diner was a good one. The biscuits and gravy were very, very good, while two breakfast platters and one waffle breakfast were all very good. Service is friendly and helpful.

Worst food in Austin

By Helen V |

We stopped here once to have lunch. I'll never eat there again. I ordered the special, chicken and dumplings. What I received was SOUP. They literally emulsified everything into a soupy mess that had nothing in it I could recognize. Don't bother.

Always great breakfast and coffee

By Haydn635 |

I’ve been in Austin on solo business trips a few times and this place is a great place for breakfast or brunch. It’s noisy, busy, bubbly and bright and the guys here care in serving their quality food with a smile. The coffee is a local blend and very addictive. Down side is that it’s popular and have to wait for a table - no bookings. I tend to wait for a for a spot at the bar. Visit and enjoy !

Use to be good.

By Steven C |

I love the menu and the concept. I really want to like this place. I use to eat at 24 a lot. I have watched it go down hill the last year. The service is simply not very good anymore. The food takes forever even when it is not busy. The last 3 times I have been the food was served cold and rubbery because it obviously sat too long. The wait staff never offered to refill my coffee or water. I asked twice and still never received a refill. The last time I order grits with my meal they were cold and watery. The biscuit was stale and hard as a rock. The ham was dried out and rubbery. Just go somewhere else that actually wants your business. Over priced for the service and quality of food.

Great

Excellent breakfast... nice size portion and very flavorful. Service was excellent! A Little.high priced but then again all of Austin has become pricy..would reccomend & would go again

OK Diner

By KristineVallejo |

We went to this place for Christmas Eve Lunch. It was very busy this day. We had about a 15 minute wait to be seated. The food was just OK. I ask for two breakfast items and were told neither were available at noon. I would not recommend this place.

I had brunch here with my

By Haris |

I had brunch here with my friend we had waffles and brisket it was really good ! Both of us really enjoyed our food, the server girl was super friendly, helpful we were seated quite fast even though the restaurant was quite busy. I would definitely return here again :)

Chicken and Waffle is the Dish to Get!

By Cohia Coh |

We went here for later evening dinner. There was no line up and we got seated right away. The portions are quite big. Ordered the Fried Chicken and Waffles as I saw many people with this dish. It did not disappoint! It was really good! If you are looking for Fried Chicken and Waffles, this is the place to get it! The air conditioning was quite high though so I froze over dinner and had to run out to the car for a jacket/scarf to wear.

Really good!

By aileecia c |

We visited after a Friday night on 6th Street. Despite the late hour, the staff was very friendly and the wait wasn't too bad. We thoroughly enjoyed the eggs and grits because they were covered with this DELICIOUS gravy! I had the chicken and waffles. I LOVED the chicken but wasn't a fan of the dough used for the waffles. Overall, it's certainly worth the visit!

Uniquely Austin Brunch

By William C |

This diner near a huge vintage vinyl record store offers a throwback diner setting with more modern food choices. The burnt ends salad was amazing along with fried chicken sandwiches. Server was a talkative local personality for sure. An enjoyable brunch spot with a Texas twist that we would choose again.

Delicious Farm to Table Offerings

By marionikken |

Many delicious dishes including vegetarian options. Breakfast, lunch and dinner any time of day or night. Milkshakes are simply to die for...

Unassuming..

By Elster658 |

As a visitor to Austin, we nearly didn't go in because it looked dull from the outside. So very glad we went in. Very friendly and helpful staff, felt so welcome. The atmosphere was so positive. Huge menu. (hard to decide what to have - all sounded amazing) Our food was prompt and delicious. Local beers on offer. No more expensive than any other place we ate in during our trip. Would definitely recommend, and go back, if we get the chance.

Awesome burgers!

By Karen S |

24diner has awesome burgers, fries, milkshakes and service. Love the variety of topics, vegetarian choices are amazing and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The vegetarian burgers are not just some mass produced frozen veggie patty, but are a house made blend of beets, lentils and yummy goodness. I visit whenever I'm in Austin. The Betsy burger with fries and a roasted banana with brown sugar milkshake are awesome.

Cracking Breakfast

By j0shuaharris |

If you're looking to fill the tank for the whole day, 24 is where it's at. They have a varied breakfast menu that will please even the most discerning or health conscious diners. Portion sizes are texan style, so expect a big meal. Depending on which server you get, you'll either be looked after like a VIP, or you might end up waiting around quite a bit. Highlights are the iced coffee and the 24 Diner Hash. Low points are the moody servers that do little to earn their tips. Overall, a big thumbs up. You won't be disappointed.

Surprisingly delicious!!

By Tirzah D |

From the outside I wasn't impressed with this place. However it was so good!! I really loved the food and our waiter was very attentive. It is right next door to a cool record store you should check out. There is parking at the diner so no need to worry about that.

Plenty of choice

By John R |

Another visit to this establishment as it is not far from our abode in Austin. We always find the staff helpful and enthusiastic to please. Couple this with good wholesome food make this a worthwhile place to eat. Unfortunately as we always seem to use it when we have just flown in we do not get to the dessert menu. The main course being quite sufficient.

Worth the wait

By BENJAMIN B |

We went for Saturday brunch. We had to wait maybe 45 minutes, but they let you get drinks and sit outside on the benches. The food was great and not terribly expensive. Nice place!

Birthday Brunch

By Maura M |

I was visiting my daughter in Austin over my birthday weekend. I was taken to 24 Diner for brunch the day after my birthday. OMG, the portions are HUGE! I took most of mine to go. I had an awesome omelette with migas & potatoes & delish salsa. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. I recommend diners save up their appetite for this great restaurant!

1st time in

Wow what a breakfast, it was outstanding And great coffee . Definitely will be back to try more. Service was also great . Good menu #porkmafia

Late night miracle

By Vagabond VanHams |

My husband and I were slated to arrive in Austin by 6-ish (at night) and a major flight delay/re-routing had us arrive at 10PM. I wanted REAL food and not either 1) super fancy dress up fare or 2) fast food. We asked our AirBnB host where we could find decent late-night eats and he recommended 24. Hallelujah. At 11 at night, the place was pleasantly full and we received great service. The table to our right was a hipster couple, and the table behind us was a pair in obvious costume (looked like post-play or musical. As in, they were in the musical). It made for a terrific ambiance. Our waitress suggested the specials, and my husband ordered one (chicken & waffles) and I ordered the other (meatloaf). We each loved our meal. I would return in a heartbeat.

Long wait (seat, and food), good atmosphere, OK food

By Inspire587709 |

Restaurant is always busy, be prepared to WAIT for seat service, and food. (Or, sit outside in hot weather, but there are mist fans.) Staff is courteous, place has good atmosphere, but food quality can be improved.

Loved this place!

By MegailnSonja |

Our waiter was so friendly and I hate that I can't remember his name; but everyone there was super nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken biscuit. Others loved the French toast. Did have a little wait, about 15 minutes, but well worth it!

The best chicken and waffles

By SESKimball |

The 24 Diner's ambiance, service, and food could not have been more perfect. I had incredibly tender, crisp fried chicken over a honey butter covered waffle. My Mom had the country breakfast with perfectly cooked grits and sausage gravy. Check it out - you will not be disappointed!

Just an average diner

By David S |

I visited here because of the reviews and was disappointed. It wasn't busy but it took them over ten minutes to find me a table. Then the service was slow. I just had an egg sandwich and a coke which including tax and a tip came to $20. I know Austin can be expensive but come on!

Craving my favorite chicken and waffles

By university I |

I wanted to get out and have some comfort food. I drove downtown to 24 Diner. I was soon disappointed when I saw none of the staff wearing masks. I even saw them allowing people picking up orders inside without masks. Please i really want you guys to survive this downturn. However I will not be back until you follow the governors rules. I will use restaurants that are following guidelines. If the servers aren't wearing mask are the cooks washing there hands? Is the kitchen clean? Or do you guys only follow the rules you like? Soo disappointed

Amazing service

By Christine A |

We had herbal tea and appetizers after visiting Waterloo Records. It was a pleasant break from shopping. The service was incredible and although we did not purchase a full meal, they looked delicious! Our appetizer was healthy and very good.

Brunch with the kids

By Medicroy |

Tried a little side place with good reviews. The atmosphere was great, small casual diner with great food. The portions were excellent, cooked to order. Mostly brunch with eggs on the breakfast platter. Biscuits and gravy were great with two eggs on the side. Kids had a chocolate milkshake that was thick, creamy and did not last long. Everyone was full as we left. Also liked the fruit bowl option instead of toast.

Style over substance

By smilgaki |

Came here for breakfast before visiting Waterloo Records next door. Lacklustre welcome to start with but we got a seat at a high table. Decor is industrial style with some striking trumpet-shaped lampshades. One of the male servers was wearing a blue Care Bear onesie, which was pretty amusing. Sadly, it seemed rather style over substance and felt pretentious rather than 'keep Austin weird'. Our server was downright miserable - he went through the motions but with a great deal of apathy. The menu is a good mix of breakfast dishes, burgers, salads and entrees with plenty of vegetarian choices. I chose the veggie hash (the small portion, which still turned out to be huge). Food was fine but the plate had a strong, unpleasant dishwasher smell, which put me off. Overall I was unimpressed - not terrible but I won't be back.

Excellent Diner Food

By Kim M |

I had the Patty Melt, which was very good. My husband had the Ribeye Steak! He said, "this is no diner steak". It was very thick and juicy and was the quality of a steakhouse. Not much is open late on a Sunday night in downtOwn Austin, but we luckily came across this place. We will definitely remember it for next time.

Excellent breakfast

By nikkid21 |

Visited early on a Friday morning . Plenty of seating and a friendly welcome The breakfast platter was good but the chicken and biscuit was exceptional. One of those meals that you reminisce about years later Coffee was tasty and refilled regularly I would visit again in a heartbeat

Dinner retreat

By Hank956 |

OPEN 24 hours, nuff said. Great location downtown. Eat and walk around downtown. Great menu options. The bruschetta and polenta were awesome. Had the ribeye, and it was on point, cooked to perfection. The chicken and waffles are a favorite here but wanted meat. Great service, and view. Home style cooking with trendy edge. Did I mention open 24 hours, and breakfast all day.... A must EAT.

Overpriced Breakfast Joint

By JaneS |

My plate of hash was about $20 and while it was good, I'm not sure it was $20 good. They don't carry Dr. Pepper, but didn't tell me that until they brought me their substitute. Which was the closest thing I've ever had to Dr. Pepper that wasn't Dr. Pepper, but it was odd that he didn't tell me first in case I wanted to make a different selection. Overall it was a good meal, just rather expensive for a diner type experience.

Great breakfast

By Allan R |

Exceptional attention to detail in all things, but let me praise their sausage gravy. Had a side of gravy to accompany one of their homemade biscuits—first it was a big enough serving to cover the biscuit. It also had plenty of sausage and the gravy was the perfect consistency, and seasoned just so. When folks do the small things well you can trust them on the other things.

Chicken & Waffles!!!!!

By Jennifer P |

Like diner food? This is better. It was very stormy and wet this morning so there was not much of a wait but the place was still very busy. It has huge windows so we were able to watch the storm come in and enjoy our coffee while we waited for our food. My husband loves chicken and waffles and he ate all of his plate and was contemplating licking the plate. I had the small hash and I really enjoyed it but even the small was rather big so I was unable to finish my plate. I really enjoyed the coffee... really enjoyed the coffee. Go HUNGRY. It was a nice way to start off a Sunday and we left Austin with happy memories and even happier tummies.

adult milkshakes

By Ms Maney |

A great go to spot for breakfast, anytime of day. Their adult milkshakes or delisious, as is their hash.

Great breakfast/brunch

By Chary W |

Food was amazing. It didn't take long to get our food and everything was delicious. The atmosphere was chill with a constant stream of people coming in to eat. I had the french toast platter and my friend had a half order or chicken and waffles. We were both happy with our food choices. Parking is limited, but people come and go quickly enough to find a spot. I plan to eat here the next time I'm in town.

Good stuff

By travels_on_belly |

Friendly staff. Food was fine. Chicken and waffles were actually best I've had. Outside seating was cool with our ginormous dog.

Mmmmm Amazing

By Tracy L |

I had read the reviews about this place and made sure that this was on our list to visit. We got there around noon time, which was our breakfast time for us. We did not have a wait time and was immediately seated. Can't remember the name of the breakfeast, but it was eggs, grits with a gravy on top and ham. Oh delicious !!!At first the gravy threw me off but once I tasted it.....Oh soooo good. My husband had a potato hash with an egg on top! He loved it!!

Chic diner vibe

By yellowslugbug |

Great upscale diner atmosphere..farm to table fresh..full bar..had the 24 hash. Amazing!!! Small portion was plenty!

Really first rate`1

By Ross M |

Was in Austin on business from Europe. Trip was short so my sleep schedule was way out of whack. Found this place on the web. Its downtown, about a 10 minute walk from any of the big hotels. Always open, the food was great, and the atmosphere was really cool regardless of whether it was 3am or 8:30. Well worth a try...

Sunday Afternoon at the Counter

By sstmango |

This place was hopping, tables were full so I sat at the counter and ordered a delicious veggie hash with a cup of chili and a cocktail. Everything was delivered promptly with friendly service. I don’t know how long the restaurant has been around but it had a tired feeling to it. The food though was fresh and that was what mattered to me.

You MUST visit this place!

By Ana T |

When I first heard of this place was on a tv episode and happened to be in Austin with my son for a family wedding so...finding ourselves out and about late at night we set out to find this place. I have visited it every time I've been to Austin since. -- Now....I was just like anybody else when I first heard of "Chicken and Waffles with Syrup and Hot Sauce"....yuk! BUT BUT BUT...you MUST try them...it is an experience you cannot miss. It will become a favorite.

Breakfast for Brunch

By A P |

This was a great experience. The waffles had an interesting taste... In a good way! The chicken was perfectly fried and NOT overly seasoned, which is PERFECT for a chicken and waffles combo. I at the Veggie hash which is a scramble with hashes potatoes and cheese. Both meals come in a half and whole portion. My wife got the Chix and Waffles half order and was happy, I got the full order of hash and I was stuffed. The eggs taste fresh and the cheese grits were good too. The coffee wasn't too acidic. The restaurant is right on 6th St. And is hipster friendly. This was a GREAT experience. They even gave us a sling for our baby's car seat (yep she enjoyed it too)! I'd go back in a second... Thanks Austin!

Cute little spot

By TheFunFoodie |

Fun little diner. Our server was friendly. The food is really good... breakfast, lunch, vegetarian options. I'll def be back.

Great food and fun atmosphere

By croz242 |

The food was great and you get a lot for your money. The vegan beat sausage was fantastic. Great coffee as well.

Best Late Night Dining

By Jacob F |

Came here after a late night of drinking, and it wasnt the alcohol talking when I say that the chicken and waffles were superb! Super juicy chicken and the brown sugar butter was fantastic with the waffles.

FRIED CHICKEN!

By Alexa Rae |

Everything was amazing, but especially anything with the chicken. We had group of 15, everyone loved what they got! We were looking for a place to accommodate our party - they were so helpful and nice. A must for a comfort food breakfast!

Terrible Experience will not be back

By SamN |

My 2 friends and I came in on Friday night around 10:30pm. Not only were we disappointed in our experience, all 3 of us ended up sick from the food. When we got there, the place was about halfway empty. We were taken to a high top. We asked for a booth and agreed to wait while they cleaned it off. As we approached, the hostess pulled 3 tables apart. We then asked to push 2 of them back together. She said that ‘no, we aren’t allowed to put these tables together.’ Ummm.... they were just together. She directed us toward the back room. It took the waiter about 20 minutes to find us, even though the restaurant was only about half empty. They got my friend’s order wrong. It took them a very long time to correct it. We both got the veggie hash. One with cheese and one without. But her first showed up about 10 minutes before mine. Then once the error was found, it took them at least another 10+ minutes to get her food corrected. To say we were disappointed at this point would be an understatement. The third member of our party had a burger. He is still currently dealing with the affects of the burger from Friday night!!! (Its Monday evening) We all used to enjoy this restaurant. But none of us intend to come back and intend to let our friends and family know about our experience and urge them not to visit this restaurant as well.

Lunch

By wrowell |

Tried this place for lunch. It's pricey and the food was not good. Meatloaf was burned...barely eatable. We've never had corn meal dublins...did not like them. Service was good.

Amazing Food!

By HJ A |

Went here with a small group for a bachellorette brunch. Not only was the service fantastic but our server was helpful with recommendations for what to get. A bunch of us got the waffle sandwich and I got the chicken and biscuit breakfast. Both were great. I definitely recommend both. Go for anything that includes the waffles, and you're definitely going to have a great start to your day!

24 Diner Review Austin , TX by Gabriel Culiat

By Gabriel A Culiat |

24 Diner was pretty awesome. The service is wonderful and the food was amazing. Gabriel Culiat will definitely recommend them to family and friends.

Great breakfast!

By Tim B |

Worth the trip. Chicken and waffles is the signature dish but everything we had was great. Service was great, sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and interesting.

Delicious Food

By 60+ Traveler |

We stopped here for the Chicken & Waffles - really don’t understand that combination! Still don’t! but eating them separately was a great experience. I tried the hibiscus iced tea and it was very refreshing. We sat and “people watched” which really added to the atmosphere.

Great breakfast

By DBoone_11 |

Had a nice time at this restaurant this morning! Highly recommend the fried chicken on a biscuit, my daughter had waffle and a yogurt parfait both were excellent. Service was good even though they were crowded on a week day if you are staying downtown you should plan on breakfast here!

Great Breakfast all Day

By porter_osborne |

Enjoyed a great dinner with family and friends at 24 Diner. Most had breakfast style food. I had baked chicken, which is the best value on the menu, in my humble opinion. One person got a shake to share and everyone agreed it was great. Tables were a bit cramped and service was a little slow, but the waiters and entire staff were very friendly and professional.

The breakfast place

By Cujoe |

Anything you would expect for breakfast and tasty. Drinks too, adult and otherwise. Good prices, and can be busy.

Anytime eats

By Mister_Boffo |

We weren't about to try a 4 am meal, but the 24 diner would be there if we wanted to. The breakfast selections offer a wide range of choices; lunch and dinner are more restricted. As you would expect with a diner the food is plentiful and relatively simple.

Great Food! Cool vibe!

By Jamie R |

We ate here for brunch and really enjoyed it! We started with the corn fritters, which were out of this world! Highly recommend! My wife had the chicken and waffles and was really impressed, which is saying a lot considering that she always gets chicken and waffles at every restaurant that has it. I had the breakfast platter. It was awesome too!

Chance find, our luck

By A C |

Most 24 hour diners are usually ordinary tasting places, NOT this one. Late breakfast was still crowded, the ham and cheddar frittata was very good and the loaded french toast was piled with a creamy custard and strawberries was beyond good. Modern motif, clean and with free parking outside.coffee was tasty, not washed out. One to try in Austin.

Worth the 20 minute wait

By fancy212016 |

Had a excellent brunch here with a family of 6. Front staff seated us and we had superb service and even better food. Hash was good and my favorite was the chicken and biscuit which I ordered with a side of gravy, delicious! Noticed they had a very good happy hour which we came back for a few days later while in town where several locals showed up. Happy Hour drinks and pie was just what we needed :) Would come back again in a heartbeat.

Good Service and Ample Portions

By John E |

We dined here for breakfast on Sunday. We arrived around 10:00 to a moderate crowd that grew over the next hour. We both ordered the “Mash”, and while it was good and plentiful (more than we could finish), the potatoes had a bit too much seasoning. The seasoning overwhelmed the taste of everything else in the mash (bacon, sausage, etc.). The handmade biscuits were great and the brown sugar butter was fabulous. Service was fast and polite. We’ll come back and try lunch or dinner.

Wonderful, Wonderful Waffles

By Airchef |

Tried this as it was close to our hotel. This is not you father’s diner. Creative menu with a breakfast hash that delights and big, fluffy, wonderful, Belgian waffles. We came back the next day to try more of the menu and it became our regular breakfast stop.

Don't ask for large

By Alfio G |

Stopped here for lunch some people told me to try the Hash dishes so I did, was good they had small and large size good for me I picked a small as it was to much for me to Finnish. Dishes are big so be careful what you order.

Bad Food - Bad Service

By Loretta W |

We waited a long time for our food. We were missing some things and it took a long time to get them. The biscuits were rock hard & so were the waffles. Diner was not run well at all. I’ve noticed waiters & waitresses don’t write anything down anymore - they try to remember the entire order. Never comes out right!

Unmet expectations

By LightPacker546505 |

First let me say that the service was outstanding, the food was good but neither me or my wife would say it was to our taste. The ingredients are all fresh and I know that may cost more, but, $17 for a burger that did not meet my expectations was a bit on the expensive side. Also ordered the corn nuggets and found them to be doughy with not much corn or flavor. Other people in the restaurant did seem to be enjoying their meal but I just don't think it's for us.

Comfort food at its best

By gmkWhitchurch |

After a very long day touring Austin by bus, boat and on foot I needed some good old fashioned American comfort food. 24 Hash with bacon and sausage delivered it. Lovely. Cheerful service too.

PERFECT BREAKFAST

By alaskan_red |

This was our first visit and everything we ate was delicious and priced fairly. There is free parking outside and it felt very safe. Service was efficient and unhurried, making the meal a relaxing experience. The dining room is spacious and airy and super-clean.

Just ok

By Tonya W |

We dined on a Sunday at 1pm. It was a 30 minute wait. Bloody mary was not good, couldn’t even finish it. Waiter was inexperienced. Food was just ok. My daughter had caesar salad and it tasted weird. The diner was recommended to us but we were very underwhelmed.

Driving thru

By Jackie F |

We went to lunch here based on a top family recommendation thru TripAdvisor. This was definitely not what we expected nor really family friendly. The menu was eclectic and no kids menu existed. It was also very expensive for lunch. We ended up ordering a salad, waffles, side and drinks that we shared among our family of four. And it cost us over $60!

Late night stop

By Nicole S |

I stopped here with friends after a night out. The service was good but the food took a long time to come out. The chicken and waffles was worth the wait. I got light meat and drizzled it with the thick syrup. The waffle was perfect. Would definitely come back just for that.

Delicious food!

By Maria |

Amazing place and delicious food! Also, the service is very good. They have cocktails and the Bloody Mary is amazing. I highly recommend this place

Interesting Wait

By Cynthia S |

We were spending the day in Austin. A total of 11 of us! We were referred to 24 Diner. When we arrived we were told it would be a 30-minute wait and we could go next door. I was slightly confused, so I asked is there a waiting room next door. The host replied no, its a record store. The wait was only about 15-minutes. The record store was amazing. We enjoyed it. We were seated outside of the diner. While we waited for our food some of us road the electric scooters up and door the parking lot and adjacent road. Although our waiter was very nice, we never received all of our drinks. Three of us just gave us and was content with water. The food had mixed reviews. Three of us had chicken and waffles (two small orders and one lg order), two of had hamburgers, two waffle sandwiches, and I can't remember the last order. Speaking only for myself. My chicken of tougher than a WWE fighter and had no flavor. However, the butter and the waffle were great. My son said hamburger was great, but his milkshake was just ok. Since we were sitting outside they had dog dishes filled with water. The waiters and customers kept kicking or stepping on them. We starting doing bets on who would kick the dish. I think the record saved the day. Maybe going to dinner or seating inside would have presented better.

#1 French Toast

By Lynette58 |

The best french toast ever made with hallah bread soaked in custard...covered in berries with cream filling. Definitely recommend. A bit pricey for a dinner, but definitely recommend the breakfast.

Upscale breakfast at 24 Diner

By Robin C |

Back in the 1970s, the northwest corner of 6th & Lamar was pretty boring. It was a one-story red brick building that fronted the sidewalk, and it housed the business office of a sprawling car dealership across Lamar. Later, the car dealer moved out of downtown leaving a vast empty space east of Lamar, and that little empty building west of Lamar. Then, the owners cut off the front 30 or 40 feet of the building and put in a parking lot. In moved two local establishments, Waterloo Ice House and Waterloo Records, both named after that tiny village that became Austin, Texas. Waterloo Records is still there, but Waterloo Ice House moved out of downtown, to be replaced by 24 Diner, one of Austin’s best round-the-clock restaurants. I eat breakfast at 24 regularly, not to mention stopping in for lunch, supper, or a thimbleful of whiskey. With high ceilings and tall plate glass windows, the place feels very open, though they overuse sunscreens during the morning hours. An entry in one front corner leads into a modest but dynamic dining room. Booths line the front with a view of Lamar (past the parked cars), and booth-style benches line the two sides, one side a well-lit white wall and the other side windows looking out at the patio. The benches are attended by small tables with single chairs facing. Across the back runs the counter, stocked with draft beer and harder stuff. Across the middle of the dining room runs a platform with a raised double-sided booth-style bench, also attended by tables and chairs, giving the room an extra dimension. And it gives diners on the window side a commanding view of the street, the buildings opposite, and the eastern sky. In the corner diagonal from the entry, a short passage leads to a very small back dining room and the kitchen. For review purposes I ordered the breakfast platter: two eggs, choice of bacon, ham, sausage, or veggie sausage, skillet fries, and choice of toast. I ordered the eggs over medium, bacon crispy, skillet fries without salt, and wheat toast. All that comes for $11.95. Throw in $2.95 for coffee, and you’re talking some real money. The waiter delivered the platter pretty quick. The eggs were just right, runny yellow and firm whites. But the bacon was not right. My request for crispy had been a mistake, because it was very dry with some charred black spots. I let the waiter know, and he brought a new order done just right. The skillet fries are always uncommonly good. Well-fried potatoes are mixed with yellow onion, green onion, and something that might be turnips, all glistening with savory oil. The single slice of wheat toast was just fine, and came with a little serving of delicious homemade strawberry jam. The coffee, too, was above-average. As I ate, the dining room was a-buzz with the constant patrol of the numerous waitstaff, all friendly and watching not to miss the wants of the diners as they occur. Add the circulation of the hostesses and hosts, and it produces top-notch service. Once I finished my plate, the waiter offered more coffee and encouraged me to stay as long as I like. One or two other staff dropped by to make sure I didn’t need anything else. Finally, with a cup of coffee-to-go in my hand, I made my way out against the line of diners on their way in.

Great diner food

By TravelEatXplore |

This is a 24/7 diner. Very popular and so it does get busy. The staffs are friendly and attentive. Good selection of veggie dishes. I would recommended CHICKEN & GRAVY Whipped potatoes, bacon-braised collard greens, sausage gravy. Tender and flavorful chicken. Collard greens, whipped potatoes with sausage gravy is really good. Good portion sized.

Busy Restaurant in Town

By Jan S |

The Diner is very busy and the Staff were all friendly. There was plenty to pick from the Menu. The French Toast was very nice. The prices were ok not cheap. There was plenty of free Parking outside.

Uh-Mazing

By badabingbadabloom |

This place was incredible! The staff was extremely pleasant, especially our waiter Zack. He was very friendly and attentive with a constant smile even though they were extremely busy. The chicken and waffles were out of this world, as was the meatloaf. There were five of us in our party and everyone said that was one of the best meals they have ever had. If I lived in Austin, I would go there weekly. The mimosas were a cherry on top of an amazing brunch!

Delicious place!

By ranslebenak |

I love this place! I've gone for brunch with friends and in the middle of the night after a concert and it's always amazing! I love their coffee and every breakfast item I've eaten has been delicious. The atmosphere is very "Austin" and very fun. It's right by waterloo records and Amy's ice cream and is such a great addition to the area.

Continues to be a great place and way to eat locally

By MadMaxCMD |

This is a local place that provides farm to table foods 24 hours a day, hence the name. Eclectic menu, cool people, a full bar and lots of cool stuff near by if you have to wait for a table. Enjoy.

Great place!

By Carlos R |

Great service and food, extended hours, good location. Recommended for a late dinner, american bar food, comfortable place

Went for a late night milkshake run, and found a new favorite spot.

By Dustin C |

Well it all started with a friend of mine who wanted a midnight milkshake. 24 was the only place open that had milkshakes so we walked for about 25 minutes to get there. Totally worth it. The milkshakes were great, the waitress knew her stuff, and the atmosphere was perfect for what we were looking for. I want to go back when its not midnight to try their food. A young woman sitting next to us told us that everything is made on site, which makes it a diner above and beyond the rest in my book. She also gave us a local tip: don't go in there after 2am when the bars start to close down, it gets crazy. Of course some of us like late night craziness so this might be your after bar spot.

Ultimate Comfort Food

By biffmanj |

Tried 24 Diner on a Tuesday and had the best chicken and dumplings. We also had the fried chicken dinner and chicken and waffles. Everything was exceptional. Even topped it off with the brownie and ice cream. They serve breakfast all day and it all looks wonderful.

So, you want a friendly place to eat?

By UtardLogic |

I don't think its too difficult finding a place that serves a good breakfast. Nevertheless, I found that during my visit, this place had something going for it that most places don't; the absolute friendliest staff in Texas! Most servers are polite and efficient but, at the 24 diner, they appear to actually care about you and want to see you happy. Oh, and the food was served in a timely manner and yes, it was really good. Sometimes, I find it difficult to find cooks that can really cook a poached egg. I loved them!

Nice little place in the hub of UT

By parkhopper1213 |

Nice little place with indoor and outdoor seating. Staff very friendly and nice menu selection. Prices a little higher than expected, but portions are pretty large. Perhaps share an entree.

Breakfast

By AlbertoMB |

50min waiting for a seat and then I get over salty food...Asking for a new cup of coffee, the waiter forget twice.... Need's a cleaning up all the place... ...on the meantime, they're very sorry for about my meal and no charge for it... I didn't mean to get my meal for free , just a notice !

I can't believe I ate the whole thing

By Pete A |

I ordered sausage biscuit with gravy with scrambled eggs. OMG it was so good I couldn't stop eating and lived to regret it. The wait staff was friendly and service was excellent. Great choice if you are hungry and looking for good old fashioned texas breakfast.

So Good

By TsaTravels |

Heard a lot about this diner so I decided to give them a try. Had the waffles and bacon. The waffle was topped with maple butter that was so good. The bacon was thickly sliced and cooked to perfection. My daughter had the grits with her meal which she described as so good she could go for another bowl. The coffee was brewed perfectly.

Hut’s is an Austin standby.

By mr_larry_smith |

Hut’s is an Austin standby. I’m pleased to see them in the airport! The service and food there lived up to their high standards. It is nice to see familiar places in new locations.

Great service and food

By Rachel L |

Our server, Zach, really made this experience. He was fantastic - super energetic, friendly and helpful. Food was also top notch. We had some veggie hashes, salads, biscuits and waffles. Great assortment of food and all was excellent. Would highly recommend subbing biscuits for toast. We had to wait an hour for a table, but there are some great shops around the restaurants, like Book people and OutdoorVoices. So, waiting was no big deal at all.

Good Breakfast available all day

By DirkJordan |

I am one of those people who like breakfast-type food anytime, and 24 Diner does a great job. Their biscuits are particularly good, and if you are an old Southern boy like me you appreciate a good biscuit. As the title implies, it is open 24/7.

Best restaurant ever for this tourist!

By Ava K |

Okay ever is pushing it but this place is seriously amazing! I visit Austin every year for the past ten years and never miss eating at 24 Diner. The food is creative and made with fresh delicious ingredients. Their Hash is to die for, as well as everything else I've ever tried. I dream of this place. Be prepared to wait though, there is always a lineup, which just shows you that this place is very popular among the locals and travelers from afar.

Delicious Farm to Table Food

By Lisa H |

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. For some reason the manager on duty brought us our drinks and answered our questions about the menu; he was delightful. If our waiter had been better we would have given this a 5 star rating. There is no need to expand on that tho as our food and overall service were excellent. We had a variety of things and all of it was very tasty. Our favorites were the chicken and waffles, meatloaf sandwich, and the hamburger with bacon, jalapeños and apple jam (I can’t remember what it was called). There is also free parking here for customers.

Food was not good

By LaTonya J |

The waiter was extremely slow and unconcerned about serving us. The meatloaf was undercooked in the middle and burnt on the outside. The gravy was sweet and really unappetizing the green beans were cold and distasteful. I was sooo disappointed! We had chili cheese fries as the appetizer and they were hot and fresh, but the chili was completely tasteless! I have eaten here before on a couple of different occasions and it was good. The last two visits were horrible. I will NOT return. I didn't even tell them that it was horrible because I don't want anything else they have. To top it off the bill was $60.

Very good food

By Bruce G |

The 24 Diner is a small restaurant located across the street from Whole Foods in downtown Austin. I had the Bacon Gorgonzola Burger with fries and my daughter had the Mixed Green Salad with the roasted tomato dressing. She added chicken on the salad. Both dishes were very good. The food is a little pricey but it is worthy. I will definitely return and explore the menu.

Wasn't impressed

By Adam G |

I went here for breakfast last week. I had the chicken and waffle. The portion was huge but unfortunately it just didn't taste great (the maple syrup was good though). There are definitely better places to eat that dont cost $16, the parking here is as hassle too.

Good Just Like the First TIme

By DC4L1103 |

2nd time here and it was just like the first time....Good! Staff was friendly and food was prompt. This will be a place I will recommend to others and will visit again.

Mixed feelings

By emotionalbutterfly |

My kids love diners, and we thought that we would try this one. Parking was easy; the server was attentive. The atmosphere was more upscale than a usual diner, and so you did lose some of the diner mood. The hits in our group included the meatloaf, macaroni and cheese and the milkshakes. The chicken and waffles lacked seasoning/flavor. The peach pie had an amazing crust the filling itself was denser than I was accustomed to having. I would return though.

Very good breakfast

By Northern_Traveler00 |

Had about a 10 minute wait when we got there on Monday (holiday) at around 10AM. Gave them our cell number and went to the record store next door to look around. 10 minutes later we were in, at a table near the bathroom (ah well, someone has to sit there). I had a waffle, egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich that was delicious, with excellent skillet fried potatoes

Not your normal diner food!

By laredo11 |

Every single time we went here, it was outstanding! Food was always hot and order was like I asked. I would of liked to try everything on the menu, but not enough time, Meatloaf was delicious!

Great food and even better service!

By amyjessica4 |

We came here for our last dinner in Austin and it was great! My friends wanted authentic Chicken and Waffles which they got (although they all went for the full size and didn't finish...portions are huge!) I went for a simple breakfast plate which was a normal size and not massive with the vegetarian sausage which was really tasty. The menu also had some other good vegetarian options and had a fun selection of milkshakes. Our waiter was very very friendly and gave great service. Would defo recommend!

Great burgers

By orlytModi_in |

We had a great lunch with cheddar burgers. Really good. Service was excellent, Lindsy was the best. So friendly and helpful. Loved the place.

Good little diner (on the pricier side)

By shannon c |

We stopped in because we didn’t want to wait somewhere on a Saturday night. Burgers were good, nobody was really a fan of the fries, and the breakfast was good. Decent little spot overall, but I easily dropped $80 on a family of four just getting breakfast and burgers (with a couple people just drinking water).

Very Good. All day

By tomjuw |

Visited on a Sunday morning. Get here early the line is out the floor. Waiter was prompt, helpful and attentive. Food was very good. I had the "hash". Loved the runny eggs in it. Small portion good for one person. My friend had waffle sandwich. Equally as good. I'll be back!!

Best oatmeal

By ichiji |

Oatmeal is my favorite breakfast and I have eaten it all over the world. The oatmeal here is world class. Delicious even without milk. I will never eat breakfast anywhere else in Austin.

Biscuits galore!!!

By PcGuy80 |

Stopped in for brunch after sleeping in. Could not resist trying the house special sausage gravy and biscuits. The gravy was loaded with big chunks of spicy sausage. A great way to start the day.

Yummy meatloaf

By Carol G |

The meatloaf sandwich was just the right portion size and just what I needed after a stress filled day. Free off street parking in downtown is a rare find. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Great little place.

Nice Sunday Brunch

By HBCU96 |

We absolutely loved the chicken and waffles. The pressed coffee was also very delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive to every need even though it was really busy. Upon arrival, we were told it was a 40 minute wait but we were seated in 15 minutes, which was nice. There is convenient parking in the shopping center but it fills up very quickly. We will return very soon.

Confused

By Rick H |

My wife and I like to try “Happy Hours” in Austin restaurants in order to get an idea about the restaurant. We read about 24 Diner and a couple of it’s happy hour appetizers that sounded interesting. So, Awe went last week arriving at 5:30. At the entrance near the register was a sign “happy hour..half price appetizers”.....great. We were seated and given a menu.....which looked good. There was no mention of happy hour in the menu though so we asked the waiter about it. He had no idea there was a happy hour. My wife showed him the advertised specials on the website and his only reply was “I don’t think we have those anymore”! Confused, we left.

Very busy place..

By JohnM602 |

Fortunately, we did not want a signature hamburger as they ran of of them at 12:30. Place does not cool down the restaurant so it is sticky. Waitresses are OK and work hard...

Fresh Food

By teresa k |

While in Austin we went to this diner twice. The first time I had their veggie patty which was mediocre. But the next time I went I had an amazing vegetarian hash breakfast. The coffee was very good and the wheat bread was filling. I recommend the diner for breakfast. Service was good. It took a while to get seated but it was cold outside so most customers were waiting for indoor seating. I appreciate them not rushing us when we were enjoying our meal. The next time in Austin I will go back!

Solid 8 Breakfast

By Garry S |

We got lucky and were able to just walk in and get a table at 10am on a Sunday. Close to downtown, but with actual free parking lot. Breakfast is very good with the waffles leading the way. Comes with real maple syrup. Service was friendly and prompt. Will go here again.

We enjoyed our visit

By Mamabirds38 |

Fantastic staff - friendly and helpful. Good food with nice portions. Convenient location with indoor and outdoor seating.

Jamon was a great waiter

By Gloria L |

The scrambled eggs were tasty, as was the sausage and coffee. The industrial decor was interesting with speakers from the 1940s being used as lamps. However, the waffles are pre-made and were not well warmed up plus a bit tough. I have a light appetite and my friend and I shared a hefty breakfast.

Excellent food and even better service

By ldwants2travel |

The chicken and waffle is a must have as well as the French press coffee. Their chicken sandwich is huge with a wonderful chipotle remoulade sauce. The service at the bar was spot on. We will be back again!

Very good!

By jessjjmc |

My husband and I were in town for business and decided to check this place out. We had the cheese plate appetizer and it was quirky and still tasty. Then we split the fried chicken sandwich and it was delicious! The chicken sandwich was as big as your head so we were glad we split it. Meal was $40. Not bad for a Sunday night dinner in downtown Austin.

Definitely not a diner

By 1WConnor |

We were only in town for one day and it was Christmas morning so our places were very limited. My daughter looked up breakfast and 24 popped up. There was a line outside the bldg which means this place is going to be good and it was. My daughter and I split the Pulled chicken sandwich that came with a side of fruit. The sandwich was really good and fresh fruit was the best. I like how it wasn't the traditional bananas as a side but a variety with grapefruit or blood oranges. I cannot rememeber which one but it was so good. My husband and youngest daughter had the chicken biscuit. They were gigantic! Both were like the size of my hand. Chicken was lightly battered and very tender and juicy. The biscuits had just the right amount of honey where it isn't dripping. Both also were served with a side of fruit. Everything was delicious and service was great. I only have 2 negatives. I think with portions being as large as they are maybe the server should disclose that especially if a child is ordering. The biscuit was like twice her body weight and $10. Lol! Very, very delicious but way too expensive for a child plus a lot went to waste. I also believe $15.95 is just a little expensive for a sandwich. I understand it is downtown Austin but typically in most touristy areas sandwiches are at most $10. Really good food and service.

Surprisingly good

By Nancy L |

Very limited menu but surprisingly good. Cheeseburger was cooked perfectly and was served with very good fries. Once seated service was good and fast. For airport food I would go this one again.

Thank goodness for 24 Diner

By p f |

Simply a wonderful place to eat. The selection is diverse and the service is great. It gets crowded but they move folks along

Yummy breakfast!

By Randeelou |

This place drew us in with the cool patio. 4 different breakfast meals and all were delicious! Recommend for a quick yummy breakfast!

Doesn't live up to the hype

By Allyssa B |

We stopped into 24 Diner after midnight for some breakfast. This place had rave reviews, and the food was good, but not something I'd go back for. The prices are high, and the food wasn't anything special.

Did Not Live Up to the Hype

By Trish L |

We were on a business trip and had heard a lot about this place. In particular, we had heard about their chicken and waffles. So when we got there and had a 30 minute wait, we figured it would be more than worth the wait. We were sadly wrong. Our waitress lacked any kind of personality and did not check on our table at all throughout our meal. Our food came out cold! I ordered the Eggs Benedict-no flavor and I had asked for my eggs to be runny, but they were hard. It took a ton of salt to get it down. The chicken and waffles was cold, the chicken was over cooked and we had to wait forever for our waitress so we could get syrup. Our other friend ordered a soft boiled egg. It cam out cold, hard and tasted of vinegar. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Excellent Breakfast Gabriel Culiat 24 Diner Review

By Gabriel Culiat |

This establishment is amazing. The food is delicious and the service is top notch. I will definitely recommend them to family and friends

Lunchtime Busy

By Elizabeth W |

Will go over the negative first. Lunch time may not be the best time to go. I was told that 3P might be better or go in between the standard dinner and lunch times. The rest is positive. Had the patty melt on rye and you have your choice of fries or several healthy sides. Chose the cauliflower/broccoli vegetable of the day. Very good. Also will compliment them for choosing regular napkins over paper, even in a casual setting. Shows ecological responsibility.

Rainy night in Austin

By susangsays |

Walked down to 24 Diner from our VRBO on Baylor. So convenient. Sat at a table for in the backroom. Friendly attentive service. Big portions. We ordered the porkchop dinner, meatloaf plate and vegetarian veggie option. All was good but not over the top. Gravy a bit runny. Saturday night and they were out of ranch dressing and the cranberry compote for the pork.

Foodie Diner Plus

By Cakes77 |

A 24 hour upscale foodie diner with a long full bar and a nice beer selection. A bit pricey and rather loud inside. The place was packed, but the noise carries here. We came out of here with a $51 tab, dinner for 3 (W/o drinks and dessert), so there are a few cheaper options. They have some nice salads $14 hamburgers, and a pricey breakfast. I had the Tuesday Chicken and Dumplings special and it was not the typical Lancaster County -Pennsylvania Dutch type that I am used to. There are a bit spicier, darker, but full of thick white meat chicken. They make a good, smokey Reuben Sandwich too.

Expensive, popular, worth it

By jwjg |

We had quite an expensive but very good lunch here. We had to wait about half an hour for a table. The service was good, drinks very good and the food was refined diner food. It was good.

Fun restaurant!

By Go2FunFood |

Great bar seats and a very accommodating bartender. The outside of the restaurant doesn't do the inside justice although there is outdoor seating. We enjoyed the menu.

Great breakfast, good prices

By SymnCwl |

24 diner serves very good breakfast all day. Farm to table. Great food, good prices and excellent service by Walter. Busy so you may have to wait but they move fast.

24 Diner transcends the genre, taking the concept to the next level.

By Cal E |

Why a "5"? 24 Diner simply does what it's supposed to do, feed people, exceptionally well. More amazing to me, it's open 24 hours a day! What's so special? Every dish over delivers on flavor, quality and quantity. Fried chicken, meatloaf and bone in pork chop are my favorites. If you hit 24D on Tuesday, the chicken and Dumplings are scrumptious, on Wednesday, the Chicken Fried Steak is so good. Their sides are great too, especially the mac and cheese and collard greens. You can also get a great glass of wine with your meal as well as creative cocktails. COME HUNGRY. Seek off hours to avoid lines.

Great Food For Your Money!

Family friendly cafe with great food and great service! Moderately priced, but worth every dollar! Highly recommended!

Great lunch

By Keith H |

Saturday lunch at 24 diner is a great experience. At an ideal location just across the street from Book People, 24 offers a variety of delicious selections. I had the 24 veggie burger with a side of cabbage and cucumber coleslaw.

All people welcome! But overpriced.

By Bill F |

This place is Austin. Old, young, fat, thin, beautiful, ugly, single or family, every type of person is in here right now. This would normally would have been a 4 start stop but prices pushed that down. This is a total comfort food stop. Don’t expect to get healthy here. The food is good with decent proportions. Open 24 hours a day 6 days a week. Service is slow, but we’re really here to watch people (so, thanks for that). Give it a try and see Austin.

So delicious and great staff!

By Jesse T |

This place was delicious! Among the 5 of us, it's a good argument whose food was better. Veggie hash, biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles and biscuits and chicken. All so good. It's a lot of food and I think only one person finished their dish. My eggs in the hash were at first overcooked but it was rectified in minutes by the nicest and most apologetic staff(multiple staff). They were definitely more upset than I was. I would think that you can't go wrong at this place! Thinking we may go back tomorrow!!

So many delicious choices

By Michelle |

We ate here twice and I was glad so I could try 2 different things. We were here for lunch (although you can get breakfast all day) and breakfast. We lucked out as there was no wait either time. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The small sweet potato hash was more than enough for me and I couldn't even finish it. Very flavorful and tasty.

Something for everyone!

By j L |

While visiting Austin, TX we stopped at this diner. We enjoyed our juicy charcoal broiled huge angus beef burgers and specialty shakes! My husband opted out for Betsy's Veggie Burger. He said it was delicious!

Always good but pricy.

By Kathleen C |

The menu is careful to tell you how extraordinary their ingredients are, probably to off-set the sticker shock. Never the less, there is always a wait list for this delicious food. My husband ordered a small order of Country Hash, which he was unable to finish, the portion was so large. He said it was delicious. My daughter and I split a small order of vegetarian hash, a side waffle and a side French toast. We left we three boxes of leftovers. Try the waffles. They are sourdough and have a wonderful flavor. You can skip the syrup. Trust me. The French toast has some sort of vanilla cream on it that resembles cream cheese. Very yummy. We substituted Jack for Swiss cheese in the hash. It had a wonderful flavor. Definitely not a weight watchers meal but it was fun to splurge a little. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. P.S. I love the bottomless coffee.

The place for Sunday morning breakfast

By ConfederateMike |

The pictures on this site are very accurate in the food that you get. Be prepared to wait because apparently everyone want to go here. After waiting 45 minutes we were very ready to eat. The breakfast platter didn't disappoint. However, this comes with "city" ham and not "country" ham. The waitress doesn't understand the difference between the two.

A 24 hour diner in Austin

By Billy R |

Stopped here for breakfast. I was dismayed as they don't make omellettes. However, I had eggs with some great sausage. My wife enjoyed her veggie hash.

Birthday Breakfast

By coagula |

Always heard great things about this place and seen it come up in a lot of things about Austin and a buddy mentioned it when I was down, so figured I would give it a go. I had the waffle breakfast and it was great. Not a big fan of the brown sugar butter... I am a regular butter and syrup guy, but when in Rome. It was good regardless. I will definitely be back to try something else.

What a diner!

By scom4t |

Not you momma's diner! Sleek and inviting space. Yes, it is diner food but elevated to near fine dining. Chopped salad was so fresh and cold and plenty of food - don't pass on the buttermilk dressing. Cheddar burger was spot on. Deviled egg appetizer on a bed of baby lettuces with a slightly sweet vinaigrette was a treat. Our only regret was that we couldn't come back for breakfast and the meatloaf!

Food was okay, not worth a 60 min wait for though

By elbee-jazzyme |

Waited an hour to get seated by an uptight hostess in the back room of this diner. Food was good, but not worth the one hour wait.

Regular visitor

By Philip J |

This is one of our favorite lunch or breakfast places to go in all of Austin. Has a really cool vibe, right next to Waterloo records and across the corner from Whole Foods.

Items delivered did not include description on menu

By Sharon H |

I ordered the hash They substituted the regular potatoes for frozen potatoes out of a bag. Over easy eggs cooked hard. Left out avacado. Scant veggies with a huge plate of potatoes. Picture on advert showed lots of veggies. Left out the Swiss cheese also. Charge was $17.00 for a plate of potatoes. Husband ordered pink burger on his patty. Came very well done.

Amazing Burgers!

By holyblonde25 |

After I was shopping I grew hungry and found this place across the street. It sits right next to Waterloo Records shop. The diner is literally open 24 hours so definitely a great place for late night comfort food. I sat at the bar and ordered the special burger -- IT WAS FRIGGIN AMAZING!! Angus beef, blistered shishito peppers, roasted garlic aioli with sauteed onions and fries. I washed it down a green chile spicy cider beer. You wouldn't think it would go, but they complimented each other nicely. Great laid back place, they accept cards, no reservations needed, no Wifi and a few TVs. Great staff and service! Definitely coming back again.

Delicious breakfast

By Lesley H |

On our way to Book People, stooped in for breakfast. Service was excellent. Enjoyed the Sweet Potato Hash and 2 eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes. Ask for jam, it’s delicious. Industrial setting as interesting. We would definitely go back. Lots of options for all.

New Aged Diner

By Brianabulls |

I had heard about this place and really wanted to go. I got the smaller version of the chicken and waffles. It was fantastic! The food was hot, fresh, and extremely well seasoned. The smaller portion was the perfect size. It comes with your choice of white or dark meat (vs. both pieces in the regular portion) and half a waffle. The waffle came with a very tasty maple butter that ALMOST made syrup unnecessary. I also had a great cup of coffee...with Baileys. The coffee was very good and didn’t have too much liquor.

Seemed pre-prepared

By Trail614485 |

The atmosphere and location was great but the food seemed pre-prepared. I had chicken and waffles which had good flavor but the chicken was the type of soggy you get when you microwave it, the white on the deviled eggs my son had were tough as if they were the type you buy already boiled and the "bacon" on top were clearly bacon bits. The tea, coffee, grits and atmosphere is what got this place 3 stars but I went there for good food not the setting.

Delicious! Will definitely go back

By marie k |

The chicken and waffles was over the top. The mac and cheese was delicious too, as was the ruben sandwich. Easy, comfortable and the food and service were delicious. A must go to while in Austin.

Don't miss the milkshakes

By madNY |

This diner is nothing to look at on the inside but the food sure was good. My husband and I are not big eaters so we decided to split a burger and it was good and still filling enough along with the fries. Later we went back for a milk shake and wow they were fabulous.

Great Austin food place

By Lovegoodfood715 |

Great location, very busy and the food is good. The menu is interesting and accommodates all types of diets. I have no complaints about any of the food there. I usually split plates because it is a lot of food. If you have a wait, Waterloo Music is a few doors down.

19th wedding anniversary trip

By ShellyMSel |

This was our first restaurant experience on our Austin anniversary trip and it was fantastic! I got the meatloaf sandwich and mashed potatoes, DELICIOUS! Hubby got the sausage gravy and biscuits and he liked it but wished he got what I did. The manager came by to check on us and we had brief very nice conversation and he gifted us with a milkshake for our celebration!! Coconut cream milk shake and it was sooo good! I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again!

Good food, nice location

I've eaten here twice and haven't been disappointed. We had a very long wait for a weekend afternoon even though not all of the seats were being used. The food is worth the wait though.

My Experience at this “Diner”

One star. My chicken and my waffle were undercooked. There are also flies and the tables are dirty. This is one of my first times in Austin and this “diner” has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Great breakfast

Hash with spinach, wild mushrooms and runny eggs was one of the best breakfasts I've had. Appreciated having the option of ordering a small portion, which was still plenty big. At $11.95, I thought it was reasonably priced considering the ingredients. My husband loved his frittata too. Classy ambience, great breakfast food, good service.
