Beautiful place

By polbek |

The restaurant is very nice and shows off stylish interiors. Lighting is maybe too dark for a restaurant, but service was good and accurate. Food was ok but below our expectations considering all the rest. Costs are average for being in San Francisco.

Super trendy!

By ns723 |

Went there for drinks- love the vibe! They have great cocktails and the service was really good as well! The waiters were attentive and friendly! They have some cozy areas that are a little more private for larger groups.

Service made up for shortcomings

By TaverAlberta |

Nice restaraunt, relatively trendy, but I didn't see it quite as cool as some of the reviews. Wine was great, food was closer to average than spectacular. We did have a couple of issues with both appetizer and the sword fish. Despite my wife telling the waitress that the was main entree was good,(she doesn't like to complain or cause a scene) the manager came over as he could see she wasn't enjoying/eating. Full marks for their service and acutally comping the dishes she ordered. (she did not eat) Odss are 50 50 we return. The bar downstairs was really cool, and I would return to hang out there at some point.

Beautifully lite hidden San Francisco restaurant worth the trip

By cassidyrogers |

This beautiful industrial space, with architectural awards is a special setting with interesting and well prepared food. The bar area is an excellent setting for cocktails and bar bites.Upstairs is the dining area which is a comfortable setting to enjoy their excellent food and wine selections.A slight bump occurred when our side orders didn't arrive with dinner even when pointed out to our server.2 dessert samplers and after dinner wine were comped to us for the mistake. All our first courses and entrees were superb, lamb, seafood and steak were enjoyed by our party. We would all recommend this delightful restaurant.

Dark with very nice food and service

By TheBel |

I attended another wine tasting and food pairing at 25 Lusk and enjoyed the experience. Their nightly menu is rather pricy but the food on the plate is well above average. Parking is a huge issue and you almost have to find a lot. This may not be a return to venue but it is different and the setting is very clubby. Like but would not spend a lot of $$ for the experience.

Top Notch!

By 12sim345 |

Very nice atmosphere; excellent service without being in the way and the food was absolutely wonderful. We were there for the early sitting on New Years Eve. The restaurant was not crowded but was busy. We both had the prix fixe menu and did not regret it for one second or bite. Will definitely return if ever in San Francisco again.

Worth the effort

By jnm101 |

The restaurant is on a small side street.....I doubt there is much walk up traffic but they are full anyway . The ambiance is great and the chef is very creative. This is typical of many new restaurants in SF area, and 25 Lusk should be high on the list. Fish dishes were particularly strong. We will return to this one.......

Private dinner for 14 people

By John |

Booked the smaller of the two private rooms and it is good. It's a good place with two excellent private dining rooms where you can order fixed or a la carte menus. Wines are good but a bit pricey. Expect a hefty bill but good food and service. Setting is Uber cool and the bar is a great hangout.

A FLAWLESS MODERN WEDDING RECEPTION

By Matthew R |

Wow.. Where do I begin. One month ago, My wife and I got married in SF City Hall. Prior to the wedding, we had a restaurant booked to have the reception, but it cancelled on us 2 months before our wedding date! As if things weren't stressful enough, we started the search for a new restaurant. Luckily, we came across 25 Lusk. For starters, the place is absolutely stunning aesthetically. The design is so unbelievably modern and, most importantly, unique. It was actually better than some of the full-build event spaces we looked at, which were probably at least double the price. As for the staff, they were so unbelievably helpful and pleasant to work with from the start. Their entire team was absolutely incredible! Before moving to the Bay area for our current careers, my wife and I spent many years in Las Vegas in the food and beverage industry. Needless to say we hold some pretty high expectations when it comes to service standards. The entire execution of our full restaurant buyout was flawless. The events team helped coordinate many specific details and requests without any hesitation. The restaurant managers were extremely personable and helpful every step of the way. The waitstaff and bar staff were always eager to help and truly went out of their way to make sure the event ran smoothly and efficiently. Lastly, Chef Matthew and his kitchen staff cooked up one of the best meals any of us have ever had. And given that they did so for 4 fairly intricate courses (including 30 minutes of a variety of hors d’ oeuvres) for 85 guests, was even more impressive. To this day, our friends and family are still raving about the food quality (and I still day dream about that tender/ flavorful/ delicious short rib entree!). We can't thank the staff enough for making our wedding day so perfect and for exceeding every high expectation we had. Especially given that it was all with such short notice...

Good ambience and great service

By Lucas G |

Interesting place with nice and cool deco. Very contemporary design and food quality was great. Ordered bar snacks so call appetisers , tried their ravioli with mushroom and was great. A bit salty for the pork belly and the corn bread was great. Grilled octuples is so so standard but can be more char..ordered a stewed rabbit as main course to share but is so so taste .. heard from other colleagues that the beef was great.

Beautiful Design, Great Cuisine, Poor Staff

By Michael-Midtown |

Design: We will go back to this beautifully designed restaurant. The interior is modern elegant. Everything – including the tables, chairs, flooring, and lighting - has been attentively calculated to create an attractive dining experience. Food and Drinks: Even considering our discerning taste, the food was well presented and delightful. The drinks were grand. Staff: No one was impressive. Great restaurants require attentive staff. This area presents an opportunity for improvement. Cost: Very reasonable for the experience and quality.

great ambiance, great service!

By Vessiev |

A friend chose this place for an overdue get together and it was the perfect choice! As soon as we approached we were welcomed by a polite doorman (valet?) and ushered in by a hostess. We spent a bit of time at the bar downstairs enjoying perfectly blended cocktails in a glass-metal-fire ambiance before going up to our table for dinner. The service was absolutely impeccable. The oysters with lime sorbet alone are a reason enough for a repeat visit. On with the main courses: the braised pork shank with risotto was outstanding while the beef was just OK (however, I am happy to see that it is off the menu today). The wine selection was extensive and the dessert had the perfect sweet note to end the meal. Once again, excellent, excellent service!

Terrific spot

By TLCWorld |

Went to 25 Lusk with friends for a group meal to celebrate our groups hard work. Had a private area with low seats and tables and we basically ate from our laps (not my first choice) but the food more than made up for the inconvenience. There were pork belly sliders and an organic fried chicken fried chicken that hit it out of the park (don't put the Hoisin sauce on the chicken it stands on its own). The truffle fries and Caesar salad were probably the best have ever had. I highly recommend 25, for a couple or a large group.

Warm reception in a cool atmosphere

By Dan T |

With its low lighting, excellent food and contemporary cocktails, it's not hard to understand why President Obama visited this cool, hip restaurant on a visit to San Francisco. The waiter was immediately engaging and fun. He helped us make some good choices and recommended the octupus starter which was a succulent leg cooked to perfection. I recommend the pork tenderloin although I found the large fried duck egg a bit rich as an accompaniment. This is a professionally run restaurant packed with youngish hipsters and tech types. Well worth a visit and I found the prices reasonable.

Great meal and excellent service

By WRC128 |

Business meal with colleagues and professional advisors in a private dining area. Staff were attentive, knowledge about the menu and wine list without being intrusive. The atmosphere in the bar downstairs beforehand was good - pretty young crowd on a Friday evening. Overall excellent meal and enjoyable evening.

Lobster Ice Cream

By AsiaFanCalifornia |

Twenty Five Lusk is both the restaurant name and its address. Off Townsend on a short alley, this place has a 21st century, hip and trendy vibe, with comfy Mies Brno chairs and cool stainless fireplaces in the bar. Imaginative menu with appetizer items like cinnamon quail and ice cream with lobster (this works if you think of the ice cream as a cream sauce). Very attentive, informed and pleasant service -- our entrees were a little slow to arrive and the maître d’ offered drinks as a gracious apology. A bit pricey (2 people with drinks, shared appetizer, entrees and a shared dessert - $130) but our dinners were excellent and the restaurant provided a delicious and entertaining evening.

Trendy rest. with fantastic food

By Peter W |

Service and food are great. The wine list spectacular with an sommelier that knows the job! Friendly and nice atmosphere

Fantastic Drinks and Dining

By NatAtHome |

This restaurant is so cool, so comfortable, so delicious, so friendly. We loved it!! We had an early reservation (it was last minute and a Saturday night) so we were the first ones in the downstairs bar area. It's very cool, with hanging fireplaces and big couches. Sort of like a ski lodge. Our waitress was so friendly, even learning how to light an orange peel on fire for a cocktail so she could do it for us at the table! We had the soft pretzel bites with cheese & truffle fondue, and some lovely cocktails. Then we went up to dinner. The dining room is a beautiful room, with a semi-open kitchen. Every dish was amazing, and the sommelier recommended a great wine to go with all our main courses. The service was exceptional and we loved the whole experience!

The most minging burger experience

By Savemybacon |

Had a lunch booking to catch up with an old friend. Burger time in a good setting. Burger sounded exciting - special onions, smoked cheddar, jazzy avocado, toasted brioche - but when it arrived it was just a greasy wet bleeding mess. We ordered medium but this was positively mooing. The bone marrow aioli was disgusting and the chips were just so greasy it was a joke. Not good. That said the host did the best to help out and the setting is nice, but I could only consider this place for party drinks rather than serious food action.

Mother's Day was special

By Simon L |

Went here for the 2013 Mother's Day brunch, my mother was bowled over. Lovely meal, exquisite food from an excellent menu. A glass of champagne with the meal made it all that bit more special. Polite, attentive but not intrusive staff made it an excellent and successful Mother's Day surprise.

excellent dinner...

By tyagi |

I had dinner there recently with some business colleagues. All of the dishes served looked fantastic. I wish I could have ordered a small portion of each! Decor is very moderne. Lots of black walls and mirrors where I didn't expect them.

Great service, delicious food

By Danzifra |

A proper restaurant, where they pamper you from beginning to end. Nice little touches like the final little brownie biscuits with salted caramel... One of the best dinner so far in S Francisco!

Fantastic Place

By Wharton25 |

Business dinner with three colleagues. Atmosphere fantastic. Beautiful place. Wine list solid. Food imaginative and well prepared. Service very good. Overall one of the best places I've eaten in SF. Recommend highly.

Excellent Octopus

By Educarter |

Our dinner choices were as varied as the menu could provide. The rib eye was done to perfection and the arctic char was well prepared. The star for me was the octopus starter, never easy to prepare well; in this case, it was tender and perfectly seasoned. The wine list was good, the sommelier well informed, the atmosphere subtle. I will bring my wife next time for a romantic and tasty interlude.

Lovely atmosphere, good food

By Williampenn1 |

Had a very nice time at this stylish venue. Went for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Glasses could have done with being cleaner, but all in all really good food and wine, and very attentive service.

Beautiful place

By vacalife |

The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. Very friendly staff. I enjoyed the first course very much. The main course, the forged mushroom ravioli, was not to my liking, but the staff attempted to be accommodating. Overall, i would return and would try other items on the menu.

A bit pricey but good quality food

By MyrnaM6080 |

25 Lusk is a chic upscale restaurant with good food. Menu includes beef, pork, chicken and vegetarian options. There are menu items that can be shared as well. Those in our party enjoyed the pork chop, green beans, risotto and duck breast. Everything was well prepared and service was good.

Great decor, overpriced food

By Ash0902 |

I really liked dining at this place. We had dinner upstairs which is dimly lit and perfect for so many occasions from intimate dinner, to business meetings etc. The service of this place is amazing, if you need something either the guy who waited on your will be there to help you or one of the managers. The drink are excellent and the food menu keeps changing. When I was there we had the quail which was good but I didn't expect so many small bones in the middle of my food. I did find the food a bit overpriced but I would go back because of the wonderful ambiance.

Nice Dining Close to Ball Park

By Dave E |

We had a business group wanting a nice place to eat prior to a concert at the ball park. The staff certainly understood our timing (had a bit over an hour). We had some good wine and appetizers and then the main course. Food tasted excellent and they were able to get us out on time. Chef even provided complementary appetizers. Pretty nice touch.

How dare you eat here?

By BrockAnderson |

Great food. Good drinks. Way too much f-u attitude. Whether on business, like me or leisure, do yourself a favor and skip it.

Almost 5 Stars!

By Susan G |

I was invited to Twenty Five Lusk for a Sunday night dinner. I was not expecting such a high charged atmosphere on a Sunday night. The bar downstairs is the scene, thats for sure, we had booked a table but could not resist doing a "fly by" downstairs. Drinks flowing, music just at the right noise level and patrons very chic, but having been there done that we moved upstairs. Well to our delight off to one side was a gorgeous private bar with the softest white leather bar stools, one had my name all over it! We asked our lovely hostess if there was time for us to have a beverage before dinner without losing our booth (that she had also allowed us to pick out, with no fuss), no worries. So we all ordered a cocktail (love that word), and enjoyed our choice of bar scene, chic surroundings, a barkeep to ourselves, comfy stools and we could talk to one another. Then we moved to dinner, our server very efficient, or so we thought. He did not write down our order, so when our food arrives, only 2 entrees (there was 3 of us), and french fries (delicious), he apologized and thought that the fries were my dinner. I said don't worry, we all had a first course and asked for a plate to share from my friends. They offered like 4 times to cook me my entree but I don't like to wait, and frankly it makes the ones with food feel awkward. So we just shared. The manager even came over 15 minutes later to make sure it wasn't too late....We ordered a dessert to share, yummy. To explain 4 out of 5 stars is that they did not comp the dessert, or the fries. I am a business owner, and when you make a mistake you make it right, immediately.

The food is pretty good, when it eventually arrives

By sfimporter |

Very trendy stylized place. The lounge part is great - and the service for dinner was pretty attentive - or at least it seems so - there was a lot of wine pouring and bread refreshing because we waited forever for our food to arrive. There's a beef dish that can be shared by the table - we had four of us, and our waitress told us it could feed two to three - so I became the odd man out and chose to shift to the quail dish. The quail arrived first - then we waited and the beef came out in a big slab - at which point the server suggested that he take it back to the kitchen for slicing. So another ten minutes and it's finally properly served. Appetizers were probably the best part of the meal (as we skipped desert) Three and a half hours for a meal is stretching it a bit when you are only eating two courses. And the price tag came to well over $400 before tip. I'd have to be convinced to go back for the food, but for the 20-30 something crowd looking for sizzle in the lounge, it probably fits the bill

Upper End

By Edouard T |

Well known place. The food is excellent (octopus, ceviche, lobster, pork). The place is quiet, you may hear your guests around the table. Seats are confortable, good linen, etc. The quality of the service depends on the server : we had a junior and a senior one. The senior was perfect, the junior forgot to bring the sparkling water and obviously had difficulties to understand our requests. Taking about service, now the suggested gratuity raised to 22% . We are far from the usual 15%. When you add the SF Mandates, you reach a total of 27%. It is time maybe to stop this inflation. Large Wine list, with all kind of prices.

A WOW experience!!!

By mbfa |

This was our dinner location our second last night in San Francisco and I wish we went here on our last night so we could go home still tasting the food. The service was warm, welcoming, professional and timely. The food was perfect from presentation to taste. I have dietary restrictions and they were more then accommodating without sacrificing any flavour. That to me is indicative of a great chef! All 3 courses of our meals could not have been more perfect! I highly recommend this spot and I ensured the hotel concierge would as well. If you can have gluten and dairy you should try the cheddar cheese biscuits that they make in house. According to my husband they are absolutely delicious! Perfect experience.

Trendy food in a place you can hear across the table!

By UCLASteve |

I worried when making reservations because the description of the location was open and fairly large. But carpet floors, split level design, and sound dampening ceiling made this California fresh, trendy, great food and drink restaurant also a good place to hear your tablemates. Grilled octopus was melt in your mouth; cheese plate was enough to share and full of interesting and tasty local cheeses. Mains also a hit. Good wine list, great cocktails. Highly recommended.

Warm atmospehere, excellent dinner

By PilotLHFH |

We have really enjoyed the dinner in this restaurant. The food was great, the wine was brilliant and the atmosphere was warm and very unique. They have an excellent kitchen, all ingredients on your plate were the highest quality and the taste was harmonic and blended. I recommend this restaurant either for special occasion or just for a good dining out.

Nice energetic rooftop - great for drinks and light food

By avikas |

Really liked the rooftop on this restaurant - went for drinks after work. Busy vibe, nice cocktails and appetizers. Heaters and a opening rooftop cover for those "very" sunny days.

Exceed expectations!!

By FannyLG |

This place is amazing not only because of decoration, service or food, it's a complete experience. We had a delicious cod entree, for main courses my husband had the tuna and I had the octopus... Both exquisite!! Topped by the amazing service by all the staff.

One of our Favorite Sf Restaurants!

By Lisaballetgirl |

We love Twenty Five Lusk! We frequent the restaurant at least a few times a year. Fantastic food, fantastic vibe, nice architecture, nice lighting, good acoustics, great staff! We like arriving early and hitting the bar downstairs first with it's sexy vibe, and atmospheric seating and fireplace. Then we head upstairs and enjoy a great meal. We like how the tables are set up such that you can hear well and hold good conversations with friends. The last time I was at Twenty Five Lusk I finished the night off with the LIME POSSET kiwi, champagne granite dessert. It didn't look as exciting as the other desserts ordered to our table BUT....OMG... Wow! Umm! I most definitely have a new tradition!

Lovely Lusk

By Abdullah S. PAKSOY |

The decor was elegant, food and service very good. Altho we were a big group the waiters were quite prompt. I had Lusk on my list of places to eat. I regret not having come earlier. The fried pepper is definitely delightful.

Nice ambiance to go with good food

By DanAndAssana |

Beautifully decorated and designed with exposed brick and massive beams, the ambiance is quite nice. The bar has a nice selection of drinks. Food was good and reasonably priced. Good wine list. We ended up taking a long time to ate and we really appreciated that they did not rush up, nor did the hover over the table hoping that we'd leave. Parking is difficult, as one might imagine.

Intresting

By JEnriquez |

Hidden down an alleyway, this is a fun and surprising place. Great decor, open kitchen, fun food, great drinks. Absolutely worth exploring.

Very, very in!

By DetailsAreEverything |

This is a very "current" place for food and drink. Nice atmosphere, fantastic service and fine food. Definitely, not a place where you will find old standards, what you will find are new takes on extremely fresh food and top ingredients which are well handled. Had some nibbles to go with drinks, a trendy salad of greens, pea "tendrils" included and an excellent main of swordfish garnished with pineapple and pistachio crumbs. Dessert was a take on a fresh strawberry ice-cream sandwich and it was delicious. Good wine list. $$$

Nice food, questionable value

By satnam6502 |

Very glitzy, nice food, quite expensive -- questionable value. Service was excellent and the wine list had great selections although it was hard to find many reasonably priced bottles that we wanted to drink. I suspect the same amount of money could buy better food elsewhere in San Francisco (but perhaps without the glitz).

Beautiful Place, Delicious Food

By MIchy_MoG |

The ambiance is incredible. My friends an I all agreed we wanted to live here. It is sexy, modern, classic and cozy all at the same time. The chairs are so comfortable and plenty big to relax in. Whether it is going to the bar for drinks or enjoying a meal, this place will make you feel special. Our server, Brad, was wonderful: friendly and informative. He made everything sound delicious and and helped us choose a wonderful meal. Everything was delicious and creative. I will be back.

Best breakfast EVER!

By Maggie M |

My husband and I have said over and over again since we ate at Lusk that we would travel back to SF just for breakfast here- and he doesn't even usually like breakfast. I had a regular benedict and he had lobster benedict. We both ooh'd and awe'd throughout breakfast at how amazing everything tasted. You can really tell that the chef puts effort into every plate that comes out of that kitchen. Definite repeat. If you like breakfast- you MUST go here! Service was solid, staff was friendly and helpful. They fit us in without a reservation even though they were busy :)

Very cool drinking spot!

By GreekAussieChick |

Popped in here for cocktails with some work colleagues and we had a really pleasant evening! It's got a lovely atmosphere & I really liked the look and design/style of the place. But the thing that sealed it for me were the cocktails. They were fantastic and imaginative use of flavours. Exactly the sort of thing that I enjoy!

So good!!

By webb |

Enjoyed private group dinner for business trip here. Excellent wine selection and loved the 3 course dinner option. The octopus appy then rob eye and last the cheesecake were all fantastic. So good and service was superb. Thank you!!

Great night

By Kevin C |

I loved so many things about this place. The look of this place is very cool and food and drinks were amazing. Great service as well. My wife and I both enjoyed our meals.

Great food, NYC vibe

By Carol |

I love this place. Food is always outstanding from rabbit, to foie gras, to steak. Relaxing bar downstairs. Great place to take client near ATT Park. Noise level is low and lighting is romantic, yet not overly so if you have business meetings. I have done business dinners and Valentine's Day here.

25Lusk....who knew?! Go! Good things at the end of an alley!

By travelmutter |

Twenty Five Lusk is a great find but you will have to search. It is located down an alley. They have valet parking but it is an easy walk from any of the hotels around Union Square (just make sure you walk down 4th and not 6th for safety reasons). We had a private event downstairs so I can really only speak to the vibe of the place, their appetizers and bar drinks. The staff was very professional and they did a great job in accomodating our event for about 80 people. The appetizers/drinks were good and I love the set up and conversation areas at the bar. You feel like you are in somebody's uber-cool loft with the fireplaces, cozy seating areas, etc..The clientele was young professional and local. I wish them all the best in a very tough industry. I will definitely go back on my next visit to SFO and will recommend it to my friends.

Awesome space in San Francisco

By voyageouse |

This place is fun for both a dressier dinner (think cocktail or high end hipster) and drinks. The space is cool, with high beam ceilings and mood lighting. The food is very good and creative. The Octapus first course is grilled to perfection and comes with a lovely Meyer lemon sauce. The bar area is loungy and fun, and you can migrate there after dinner for drinks and dessert.

A find, tucked away from the crowds - good not great

By David C |

So close to AT&T park. We were going to see AC/DC. Got in before the crowds. Starters lovely, main courses a bit confused. Cheese board so-so. Cocktails quaffable. Upmarket clientele. Brian Johnson was sat 2 tables away.

Great Food and Wonderful Atmosphere

By Brian S |

Our concierge at the St Regis recommended this place and glad she did - it was great. Took seven colleagues here on a sunday night for a memorable dinner and really fun evening. Love the hidden location and the beautiful decor inside. We had an excellent waiter and had great service throughout the meal. Between the eight of us we tried nearly everything on the menu - and loved it all. A few standouts include the octopus and the crab benedict. The wine list was very good with some really unique offerings. The wine steward was well versed in the wines and did an excellent job. All in all we loved the place and would definately recommend it to others.

do not go here unless you are on an expense account and have no imagination

By suttercreek |

Ugh. we always wanted to try this restaurant and got the chance during the January restaurant week. We won't go back. They pushed us through the meal, the wine pairings were not good and not well paired. I mean really, 3 courses in 45 minutes with some of the most impersonal service ever. if you don't want to be part of restaurant week, don't participate, but don't make all your guests miserable and wishing they had gone somewhere else.

Great find in SOMA

By Kristen W |

We eat at 25 Lusk for a Sunday Brunch and everyone was happy with their eating choices. The wait staff was very attentive, service was prompt, and the food was a good value.

Great service and food

By Canuck abroad E |

This is a must to visit in SF. The food is fantastic as is the service. The wine list is incredible as well.

Perfect

Gorgeous venue and the food is spot on. I will definitely be coming back!!!

Destination Restaurant

By Mark J |

This is one of those restaurants that you make a trip to SF for. 25 Lusk is simply awesome. We had a set menu which was paired with a fantastic selection of local wines. Each course was amazing and both the food waiter and the sommelier were very passionate in their presentations. We enjoyed some stunning food and wine in a very relaxed yet modern surroundings. Absolutely the very best meal I had in my recent visit to SF 5 Stars all the way - I will definitely be back.

Over priced

By 133sinead |

I had dinner here last week with a party of 30 from Ireland. Food was good but nothing great and it was very expensive. Drinks were even more expensive. $19 for a bottle of cider!

Not Worth The Price

By Charles H |

We chose this as one of three restaruants that we would vist during our three nights in San Franciso. We were dissappointed that the food was very average and the wine list had very few 'affordable' selections. The service was excellent but this is basically a great please to get a drink and socialize, not have dinner.

Relaxing after work in this seculed gem...

By Raymond H |

I really love dining in a thoughtfully designed environment. Twenty Five Lusk, in San Francisco’s SOMA district, combines a dynamic restaurant, lounge and bar offering creative cuisine, beautiful domestic and international wines, and inspired cocktails. Award winning architect Cass Calder Smith won top honors for weaving a modern style paying homage to the existing 1917 brick and timber warehouse.

nice ambiance and tasty food

By stephAlbanyCa |

We were looking for a before game brunch spot, and 25 Lusk came up. It ended up being a great choice, the food was really good, and they offer some nice free apps with brunch (mostly for sweet tooths though). Service was also nice, and the ambiance, big loft room was really nice.

Nice ambiance; great food and drinks

By Laura |

25 Lusk was great for post-work cocktails and food. I would have liked to have a cocktail menu to try something different, but without a menu I had to rely on the bartender to whip something up. Service was great and the food was great as well.

Ok Place

By QB628 |

Met some friends here for dinner, I checked the menu on open table and it said they had brussel sprouts. When we dined no brussel sprouts and the charged us for two asparagus orders but only gave us one. Didn't notice until I was back home in the DMV when I checked all my weekend expenses. Over priced for the mediocre food and the drinks were not that great. They charge $14 to valet your car in a garage that looks accessible to anybody. We parked on the street for $4.75

Outstanding Food- Great Ambiance- Amazing Star Chef

By Bacchus49 |

great location with exposed brick and natural wood ceilings hidden down an cozy alley. I had the corn ravioli, it was spectacular. Great use of unique natural ingrediants such as purslane and big meaty chanterelles. The oysters were fresh and the green tea granite was a great addition with the small bite of lobster on each shell. The natural ingrediants really complimented chef Dolan's passion for delicious fresh high quality food.

Creative food and wine pairing - ask for it!

By jdp14580 |

I made a reservation for this restaurant based up recommendations from Food and Wine, Yelp and Trip Advisor with the intention of the 4 of us enjoying the Chef's tasting with paired wines. The meal was truly outstanding and our server, Marie, was perhaps one of the best wait staff that I have experienced. She was not only knowledgeable, but treated us with genuine joy and care. Our sommelier, Caeser, was extremely knowledgeable and interacted with us with genuine enthusiasm. Each course was a delight, but the octopus dish was a standout. It was tender and juicy with a true freshness that won us over. The amuse bouche (oyster with a verbena sorbet) was so good, that I am going to "steal" this flavor profile. One issue that we had with the bill was the very large fee that was added on and labeled the San Francisco mandate charge. After researching it today, I understand what it is, but since the majority of restaurant employees are part time, I am convinced that this added - and not defined beforehand - is an issue that the restaurant should address. This was not a small dollar amount for our bill and a total, not satisfying, surprise since all 4 of us do not reside in San Francisco.

Excellent food and service

By Lee S |

I was blown away by this restaurant. The attention to deal was evident in all things setting, service, wine and food. The highlights were the chowder as well the scallop tartar. We also loved the octopus which was served tempura style as an appetizer. Setting and service was perfect.

Never Disappointed

By HockeyHerrick |

This was my second time at this restaurant within the last three months and it did not disappoint! Varied menu with creative combinations. My guests had the quail and really enjoyed it, while I had the pork chop - a seemingly bland choice, but this was exceptional. The desserts are worth saving room for - imaginative combinations that truly surprise. I cannot remember the name of the dessert I had, but the combination of crushed nuts, chocolate, two types of gelato, caramel and a habanero mixture was incredible. Comfortable atmosphere and excellent service made for an excellent evening. It is expensive, but worth it.

Fantastic

By Farsholious |

Fantastic. Great ambiance combined with fantastic service and food. Everything about this place is done right. The service is professional and friendly even when encountered by special requests. The menu is refreshingly hip and different. Every course each one of us ordered was great. Make sure you show up early and have a drink downstairs before your dinner.

Great food and restaurant - shame about bar & reception staff !

By sivion |

Food was imaginative and of great quantity - served by informed attentive staff. Interior design impressive - although the lights were turned too high. However - the bar staff were extremely slow, unfriendly and forgot some of our order. Our hostess was completely disinterested in helping us to our table. The Chef deserves much better !

Great place to hit after a Ball Game.

By handsonstudio |

Chef Dolan really knows how to create place where the cool people go! The old meat processing warehouse is the perfect mix of San Francisco hip meets class and sophistication. The food is AMAZING and the multiple bars really make this the place to be after a Giants game. Get in where you fit in... be mellow in a private back room or be upfront at the bar; this stop is happening every day of the week. A must hit stop in SF for sure!

Go for the grits!

By Peanut4Life |

Quiet atmosphere and great for conversations with great friends, delicious food. The grits were surprisingly delicious (a little kick, spice) and my favorite part of the meal.

Decor was impressive, Food was dissapointing

By 5Lees |

We were recommended this restraunt but felt let down by the average service and ordinary food. Both my colleague and I had the tuna and we were both not better for it. I doubt I will return.

Great food, wine, and service ... management could use some work

By Sunil J |

I had a 24-person dinner at 25 Lusk's private dining room the evening of January 21, 2012, in honor of my wife's birthday. As a newcomer to the SF bay area, I sought far and wide for such a venue to host this party, and numerous personal recommendations pointed me to the restaurant/lounge. Coordinating the logistics for this private dining event was tough. Nikki Boucard, 25 Lusk's Private Dining Manager, was affable, however, she poorly communicated details via e-mail about menu options. Instead of calling me to coordinate the details, I had to call her to ensure we were on the same page. Aside from eventually agreeing to pay a nonsensical $3/person charge for "cake cutting," (mind you, we brought our own cupcakes, and the staff simply placed the boxes in the room!), we eventually came to terms on the menu and price. [25 Lusk eventually refunded this to me.] This left me feeling that 25 Lusk did not care I was bringing committed revenue to them. This was felt in their minimal flexibility on price and menu, for example. Yes, I understand it is a super-hot location, and that there may be reasons preventing greater flexibility. However, I'm in the software industry, and if I EVER had a customer that “came to me,” saying, "I'd like to give you money (partly in advance!) for a product," servicing this customer would be the first thing on my mind. That did not seem to be the case with 25 Lusk. The venue is beautiful, the food (and wine) was delicious (particularly the Yukon Gold Potato Gnocchi and the Grilled Ribeye Steak), and the wait staff was attentive and courteous. General feedback from my party was that mostly everything went great. My plans to keep the group together after dinner by moving to the lounge area was thwarted, however, due to an apparent water main break (said Nathan Sheeran, 25 Lusk's Assistant General Manager) that flooded the lounge/private dining level's bar area, and caused an eventual early shut-down of the entire venue. Since the women’s’ bathrooms were shut down, my guests - including my wife- waited in line for 30 minutes (during her own party) to use the mens' bathroom. Afterwards, my wife said she complained – while on line - to a seemingly unsympathetic Sheeran about this, who said there was nothing he could do, and that there were no other bathrooms in the venue. Again, the lack of customer service from 25 Lusk’s management to my wife or her party during this moment is in-line with my previous statement about the restaurant’s management not caring about committed revenue. A few days after the event, I spoke with Chad Bourdon, 25 Lusk’s General Manager, about my experience. He was respectful, courteous, and thankful for the feedback I provided directly to him and his staff. He said the water main leak made things difficult at the restaurant, but that it didn’t excuse his staff’s behavior. He has offered to bring my wife and I back to the restaurant to dine again…on his dime. A classy move on his part, and something I hope the rest of the staff learns from.

Excellent Food, Service and Atmoshphere

By Ibetrippin |

I held a business dinner here for 6, and it was excellent. Our party sized changed from when I first made the reservation, and the restaurant was gracious to accommodate the change. The was outstanding top to bottom as was the service. I will be back both for business and pleasure.

Hard to find but worth the effort

By Evan R |

Eclectic wine list with a wide range of countries represented and varying price points. Service was superb, friendly and informative. I had the lobster chowder which was good and the duck breast which was cooked perfectly.

Ultra trendy restaurant and bar

By James B |

We were taken here by my San Francisco insider and were impressed with the uber cool interior design. It has a great bar scene with multiple fireplaces to convene around and some excellent cocktails. The food was great although some of the dishes were off the menu, the service was excellent and whilst overall it was a pricey experience it was also fun and memorable.

The best ambiance in the city

By jyotsnadietrich |

If you are looking for a place with great ambiance, superb service and outstanding food... This is it. Extremely small but extremely creative menu. We were a large party of nine people and it was incredible how every course was carefully prepared and served. It was a special bday celebration for us but this is a restaurant that one does not really need a special occasion to go to. The price point varies on food and the extensive wine list. So if one wants to go just for the sake of spending an outstanding evening, there are plenty of moderately priced dishes and wines.... Just go

Prix Fixe Menu

By Paul P |

Twenty Five Lusk works off of a prix fixe menu at $60. It is a bit annoying that the price is not on the website. I thought the choices were pretty broad. I had the prawns which were good. The waiter directed us to the pork belly appetizer. I’m not sure I would have gone there and wish I had considered more. It wasn’t bad, just not special either. Desserts were good but not decadent. For a place so close to wine country, the wine list is brief and pricey. Service was excellent, our server sensed the pace we wanted and adapted. The restaurant is housed in an old wood framed warehouse and they have done a great job of preserving the architectural details.

Wow!

By Dgaldattrvls |

I came here foe company event. This place was recommended by a coworker. The moment I walked in, I said "wow!" and the first thing that came to my mind is "date night"! It was love at first sight. The place is romantic, chic, classy and just wonderful. The food was fantastic. I orderded scallops for appetizer and veal for my main course. Both were absolutely cooked to perfection. The only complaint I have is that the appetizer came with 2 very pretty scallops. For $22, I was expecting more than 2 pieces of scallops. wow. I also ordered a glass of grenache and it was excellect. What is striking is the service. When our food came, our party of 10 was served individually by 10 people. Wow! It was pretty cool. I guess that was part of the $22 I paid for my 2 pretty teeny scallops. The restaurant has a $12 valet parking. On the night we went to the restaurant, there was a Giants game. Parking lots were charging $80-$120 for the entire evening. No kidding! It was so nice to that this restaurant have a valet parking and at the same time not charge an arm and a leg.

Service at an impeccable level

By RealBusinessReview |

Service at an impeccable level 25 Lusk is one of the most surprising restaurant in San Francisco. I took some customers for a very formal dinner and I enjoyed so much the atmosphere. My impression is that there was the right balance between great food and location combined with a bit of glam who made me feel very comfortable. I could notice some Football players having a party (although don’t remember the names as I am not a real fan ). The restaurant is on three level and the bar at the entrance is simply amazing, nice lounge !!!

Ambience a plenty and excellent food.

By Kenneth M |

My wife and I and 4 business colleagues booked a table for 6 on Sunday evening the 20th January. We arrived at 6-45pm and were immediately shown to our table. We all started with a cocktail followed by Pinot Noir and Chenin Blanc both of which were excellent during our meal. For starters I order the Ginger Bisque with shrimp and my wife ordered the Celery Salad both of which were exceptionally good. To follow I had the lamb and my wife had pork loin. Also separately we had Brussel Sprouts with Baco and also Purple Cauliflower. Again these were first class and one of the best lamb cuts I have had in a long time. For dessert my wife ordered the Brownie and I ordered the Ginger Ice Cream cornet. Again delicious. Without doubt the best meal since arriving in San Francisco. Just as a note when we arrived the venue was almost empty but after 9pm was almost full.

Outstanding

By dred1 |

Every course we had was simply the best. Our group of 11 was treated royally. It calls for a return visit the next time we’re in town

Not worthy

By ENRICOPTO |

Restaurant furniture and decor are really good , Staff is ok , but service is really too slow . A lot of useless cream and sauce are decorating all dishes are they are crowed of useless additional things ( potatoes , onion rings etch ) . price is really too expensive in comparison with food quality . Definitely the restaurant is not worthy .

Wonderful, romantic dinner

By rjf17ca |

We came here for our anniversary dinner and enjoyed it immensely. A very nice romantic setting – dim lighting, but not so dark that we couldn’t read the menus or gaze into the eyes of my wife. The meal and service were excellent. I had the duck and my wife the swordfish which were both perfectly cooked and the seasonings & sides were delicious. We love trying new dishes and had the pork belly confit as an appetizer. That was good (not as fatty as I had expected) and very interesting, though I’m not sure I’d have it again. The only disappointment in the meal was the dessert. I was very excited to try the chocolate cherry cobbler and was disappointed after the fabulous entrees. It wasn’t bad, but not particularly flavorful – the chocolate didn’t have much flavor and the cobbler was kind of boring. It needed some more distinctive flavors. The other downside was that the waiter for the table next to us kept standing between the two tables when taking their orders or serving. The tables are close together that we had the pleasure of his butt in our faces each time. He did this several times, taking his time and completely oblivious to us.

Fun for business dinner

By jocelynlee |

We had a 6 hour biz dinner here the other night...and i have to say, if i had to do another 6 hour dinner, Twenty-Five Lusk would not be a bad place Summary: - Good service (expected since we had to spend a min and were there for 6 hours) - Cauliflower Creme Brulee: Ridiculously good - Rack of Lamb: Melt in your mouth good - Oysters: Fresh and briny - Gnocchi: it was good but not great - Chicken Fried Quail: My co-worker had it and she said the kumquat sauce was way too overpowering- too tart - Desserts: we had a slew of different desserts and they were all quite yummy. We had a myriad of other dishes which is srsly escaping my memory right now

Great bear and design

By Gab LG |

However the food was a bit disappointing. I expected some surprises from the chef, as the building itself is quite amazing. The bar, though, was very good. Wine menu also impressive.

Disappointing Experience

By Nava1203 |

The decor sets a hopeful tone but the pretentious service and average food tell a different story. Our group of 5 was disappointed with the limited menu selection and the food overall. We shared appetizers that were good but not great. The tuna and steak frites were the best of the group....my arctic char was dry and the rice has an overbearing sauce that was inedible (and removed from the bill which was appreciated) The amuse bouche was 2 blueberries on creme fraiche with 1 spring of micro sorel (really?). $5 for a coke (yes, soda).. Too expensive for what it offers

Great food

By Kathleen A |

Wonderful people, quiet . Great drinks and finger food. Down stairs couches were very comfy. Staff wonderful!!

Ugh, not impressed

By Michael B |

This is simply a standard trendy restaurant with no real value. Yeah, it's kind of a cool space, but the food isn't up to par (although they do make a good cocktail.) There are places with real soul in the immediate area.

Basically good, but needs work.

By shellyf |

The Sashimi appetizer was 3 of the smallest pieces of that fish I've seen and my wife's octopus appetizer was also miniscule. At another restaurant 2 nights later, the same $14 Sashimi was four times as much. They need to get their act together. The main course was excellent. I had the veal breast and my wife, the lamb chops. Both of these were delicious. This is a big place with 2 levels. Tables are nicely spaced. Wine list is fairly priced. The ice cream dessert consisted of 3 tiny balls of ice cream in 3 individual dishes. Two of them were half melted into soup. How about one big ball of ice cream??

Great overall experience!!

By Worldtraveller2359 |

We reserved a table for two through open table an hour before, we went. We arrived a little early, so they made us wait at the bar area, it was packed even though it was a weekday, it was a great atmosphere!! The drinks were very good. An exactly on time our server took us to our table. Great service , very attentive and not obtrusive. They were constantly, alert, to our needs. Our orders took slightly, long, they were apologetic, and offered us on the house , delightful hors dourves ! We were thrilled. The food when it came, mine was lamb chops and the other was fish, both were beautifully presented and tasted divine!! The dessert was excellent too. A great place , not to be missed!!

Great atmosphere, great food

By stacey049 |

This is a very modern, lively restaurant. You feel like you are in a huge loft, there's lots of exposed brick work and wooden beams. It's contemporary, but also warm and friendly. Our waiter was really friendly and very knowledgeable about the dishes. We had spec with warm caramalised figs and a dish of tempura octopus. Delicious! This was followed with a fabulous lamb dish served with an olive tapenade, chicken fried quail, salmon and duck breasts. All four dishes were declared fantastic. There were a selection of homemade breads that kept doing the rounds too. We were so full, we shared a pudding of strawberry sliders, which we decided was not the best choice of desert. It didn't quite work, though the popping corn that accompanied it was rather fun. Everything was beautifully presented and everyone was charming and attentive.

Great Food

By CJK38 |

I have been to the restaurant twice and both times have been exceptional. Service is incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, our server knew what wines would pair best with our food choices. We had the oysters and fig and proscioutto appetizers. Oysters were super fresh, the fig/ prosciutto was a bit on the skimpy side, good presentation, but not as tasty as I was hoping. Our entrees were the grilled meat and ahi tuna- both superb and cooked to perfection. opur dessert, the strawberry lasagna with creme fraiche ice cream was a perfect ending to a great meal. The other great thing about this place is that you do not have to yell across the table and the staff doesn't rush you to get out. And if you want to mingle a little, they have a nice lounge downstairs with cool vibe.

Noisy, poor service, but great location

By 4wwtravelmore |

Hard to find a nice place to meet for an after dinner cocktail. Tried 25 Lusk. It was just OK, nothing special after work. Service was poor, cosmos were average. Location is their best feature.

A great find.

My husband and I went here on the final night of our San Francisco trip, and we couldn't have been happier with the choice. From the interior design, to the food, to the staff, the entire experience was good. Would definitely come back if we are ever in San Francisco again.

Over Over rated!!

By cladue |

We are a well travelled foodie family visiting San Francisco with friends. Twenty Five Lusk was highly recommend in many guides and we had waited all day for what promised to be a great night of dining. In reality it probably rates with one of the worst meals I have ever had put before me, let alone eat. We waited nearly 2 hours for the main course and when it did arrive I was excited to see what was described as "Chicken Fried Quail" a new one to us. The food was terrible, how they can justify over 30 Dollars for a plate of the driest seared Tuna served with tinned sweet corn I will never know. The head waiter had apologised several times for the wait and by the look on our faces when the food arrived knew at once that we were not happy. The food was returned and safe to say we left hungry. I hope they were having a bad night but if you are visiting San Francisco dine somewhere else.

A lovely surprise

By Funnier1 |

My team had a celebration event here and all I can say is WOW! Spectacular service with lots of attention to detail. The food was top notch with a high yum factor. Pork sliders and lobster rolls are must haves.

They treat everyone like POTUS!

By PismoLulu |

You may have heard that Obama stopped here in June. I assume he got the red carpet treatment...but we did too!! Such a fantastic experience in every way. We started our evening downstairs in the fabulous large lounge where mixologist David took great care of us. The cocktails he made were delicious. He suggested we try some oysters-- but of course! They appeared almost instantaneously and got rave reviews. David gave us a preview of the dinner menu and described several of his favorite dishes. Very knowledgeable. He invited us to join him after dinner for port and dessert. Went upstairs for dinner. The space is beautiful. Lots of exposed brick juxtaposed with sleek elegant surfaces. We ordered a bottle of wine that they just sold out of, but Cesar the sommelier made an excellent suggestion within our price range and palate. The service was impeccable. We started the meal with a complimentary amuse bouche of savory mushroom cheesecake. We were then offered two different breads (I recommend the focaccia; the alternative roll was the only unremarkable part of the evening). We ordered the grilled octopus to start. It rivals the pulpo we had in Spain--tender, but firm. Marinated to perfection. All our entrees were delicious. I give a shout out to the lamb (medium rare). Our meal ended with a complimentary amuse bouche of salted chocolate brownie heaven. We returned to the bar downstairs where David greeted us enthusiastically. Bar was packed but had great positive energy. David recommended the espresso martini and dessert sampler plate-- but of course! I'm sure the evening cost an arm and a leg (I thankfully cannot recall), but it was worth every penny and more!

Very hip

By BPenuliar2015 |

First time to dine at Twenty Five Lusk. Entrance to the restaurant is through the side/like a little alley. Ambience is nice. The lower level is more for groups and their bar is much bigger than the one upstairs. Ordered the grilled octopus, Sakura pork tenderloin and a side of foie gras. Everything was excellent.

Food fine - bar disappointing

By Minotlight |

we had a very good dinner - tuna, sturgeon, chicken were excellent. Bar added a sour note. Martini was a small pour to begin with and then $2.00 was added to the tariff because I wanted it without ice. Just think how little gin would be in a drink with ice. Wine pours are also less than generous and prices don't reflect the pour. We should have come away with a very positive feeling - service was excellent, ambiance was great, but bar left a sour taste.

Super cool place and very good food

By Manuel |

We had a work event at the 25 Lusk. It's located in a little lane in the financial district. The venue is very big and on 2 levels, finely decorated. Great selection at the bar and finger food was delicious. Be ready to pay quite a lot but it's a great experience!

some of the best

By Paul I |

This Restaurant has gathered a great interior design, an excellent service, amazing food and a good mix of music to offer its customers a great experience.

Did you say Schnitzel?

By Marta Z |

I visited 25 Lusk while in town for a meeting. My colleague had visited the restaurant in the past, and mentioned it was lovely. Sitting in the restaurant on a Tuesday evening, we ordered off of the prix-fix menu. The food was amazing. I had the Sturgeon Schnitzel with spatzel. The corn ravioli and a lovely dessert. The wine list well rounded. The wait staff, attentive and willing to make recommendations. It was a 25 minute walk from our hotel~a very enjoyable evening in San Francisco.

Delicious!

By Dionne M |

If you enjoy trying new and exciting dishes then you must visit twenty five lusk. Excellent value and fun trying food you haven't tasted before. Staff very professional and polite.

Excellent corporate dinner

By uktravailer |

We came here for a team dinner and had a private room (apparently the same one that was used by President Obama, according to my colleagues). The service was great and the food selection was very good. The sommelier made himself available to discuss wine choices too, which was a nice touch.

don't eat here

By louisethethird |

Bar lounge was great, good drinks and beautiful sleek atmosphere with most specialty cocktails priced at $11.00, but I do not recommend the restaurant. With most appetizers prized in the high teens and most entrees high twenties to over thirty, i expect the food to arrive warm. We waited a long time for our entrees to arrive and when they did it was quite evident they had been sitting somewhere for too long. They were barely room temperature. My first indication was the bread, day old and also room temp. The cheese plate I ordered for desert, although generous for $16.00, the cheeses were too cold to fully appreciate. Spend your money somewhere else.

Uber cool, hidden gem, great food

By John |

I found this place about a month ago and just had a drink in the upstairs bar. Didn't realise it had a downstairs one too. The restaurant is very cool and to be honest if you walked past the end of Townsend St you deb had pressed to realise what is there and how large it is. The drinks at the bar are good (upstairs) although the aircon was a bit cold (as always in US) and the downstairs bar had a younger hipper set. Food was amazingly good, double pork chop, halibut, trio of desserts, wines etc all good. Just a note of caution it's not cheap and the bill can rack up as you enthusiastically try everything on offer. But really enjoyed it, would go again and recommended if you are in the area. Very efficient and friendly service.

Great food, great service. lovely ambiance.

By mudshark37 |

Visited for the first time for a special occasion. The food is interesting, innovative and yummy. The service is attentive and friendly. The dining room is elegant but modern and not too loud. I'm really surprised I didn't know of this place before POTUS visited.

A Great Find!

By Betty Y |

Had not been to Twenty Five Lusk before, but as it came highly recommended by the Prescott Hotel concierges, we decided to dine there. Wow, from the minute we walked in the door, everything was great. The two hostesses made us feel very welcome, Ruben, our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the food was amazing. I love lamb, and I was not disappointed. The decor is modern and trendy, and the seating was very comfortable. Great being able to see the Chefs working in the kitchen area. We will definitely be back on our next visit to San Francisco - can't wait! Great staff - keep up the good work!

Nice private room for business dinner

By marshallgator |

25 Lusk has a very large dinning room & lounge area able to accommodate 40 or so guests. The food is outstanding & the service us divine. However it is a little loud even on a Wednesday night.

Trendy Place with Good Food and a Great Atmosphere!

By Stacy G |

I've been to this restaurant twice and had an amazing experience both times. I came both times with a large group of people (over 10) for work and we sat upstairs in a private room. We ordered many appetizers and I love that they are so easy to share. We ordered off of the extensive wine list. I had the ahi tuna and the pork - both delicious! The atmosphere is very cool too - large place with 2 levels and dim lighting with really good music. I would definitely come back!

Great Food at a price

By Azolene W |

I went with a food reviewer for one of the local newspapers so this person is a serious foodie. The food at 25 Lusk is excellent without a doubt and the wine list is extensive. I didn't find much in the way of choice for anyone who is eating lightly. This is a blow it all out, forget counting calories and you're splurging type of place. The service is impeccable. You are getting your money's worth here. It's in a back alley off the beaten track but worth the trip. There is a younger bar scene downstairs and it looks like that may be less dear.

Gorgeous and Comfortable

By tom d |

We wanted a drink before dinner and stopped in the downstairs bar and lounge at Twenty Five Lusk. First off the space is sleek, swanky, really gorgeous. There are comfortable couches, gas fire pits, good sized bar and attentive service. Drinks were good, this place is nice for couples or a small group. Although Twenty Five Lusk is beautiful, for us it's not the type of place to stay an entire evening but for a drink or two it is perfect.

Good Friday Night Place

By knocknaha |

Food was very good particularly the sturgeon schnitzel even though it was a bit pricey. We felt a little rushed though. Starter came out before we finished our pre-dinner cocktail. And the main course was coming 4 minutes later, the waiter said as he cleared our starter plates. Too bad because we would have ordered a bottle of wine - but we only ordered a glass because the food was rushed. Decor is very nice. Nathan, one of the managers, was very pleasant and attentive. That made up for our waiter not even telling us his name.

Delicious food and a bit of Manhattan in San Francisco!

By AdrienneSanFrancisco |

Took a friend visiting from Austria to 25 Lusk last night and we were all surprised by the big city ambiance of the place! Wow - people in dress clothes (were they tourists?!) Joking aside, our experience was excellent. My guests enjoyed their entree's (fried chicken and tuna) but my duck was a bit tough to eat (grizzle) and underdone for my taste. The appetizers were amazing! The gnocchi with peas and morels might be a favorite dish ever! and the fried Burrata was also delish. Presentation and service were A+, one star off because we sat in the downstairs lounge for 20 min with nary a notice from the cocktail waitress. Overall SUPERB!

Nice ambiance, awesome appetizers, expensive wine list

By cdg2sfo |

Had dinner last night at 25 Lusk. The inside ambiance is really nice. They did a great job with a mix of traditional red bricks, wood and modern glass. The way they have the lightening set puts the kitchen in a very nice visual set. Loved it. We had a mix of various appetizers as they sounded much more original on paper than the main dish. Enjoyed the ahi tuna and the roasted duck with marrow the most. The mushroom soup was too acid for my taste. The wine list boasts impressive bottles but the prices are just indecent, specially for the imported French wines. I think they need to slow down on their margin multiples :) -- did find a nice bootle of miura monterey county pinot noir at a reasonable price. That was totally worth it. Service is good and they do not rush you.

Pure excellence all around

By Shiv P |

I went to Twenty Five Lusk after meeting the chef, Matthew Dolan, at an event. I took my friend Kelly who is vegan. The restaurant is very modern and stylish in its decor. The downstairs bar has comfortable, plush seating with fire furnaces dotted around. Upstairs in the restaurant we sat in a booth and we were served by Sam. He did an excellent job as did the AGM, Josh, of suggesting wine pairings with our food and suggesting delicious treats for us. I had crispy pork belly with lobster tempura and foie gras and pork rib chop for my entree (I was really indulging that night!). The food was sublime, melt in your mouth and flavourful. Kelly had roasted padron peppers and a vegan Tofu and almond strudel for her entree which was so delicious I wish I had ordered it. Desserts were a lime posset which was creamy and more-ish a salted caramel swirled brownie. The entire experience from start to finish from customer service to food was superb. I am already planning my next visit. If you are in SF you must check out this restaurant.

Slick, modern, great fun

By IntrepidMe |

We spent New Years Eve here so I think that perhaps my exerience of this restaurant may be a little different to how it would be on a normal night but that being said I must stress that this is a very cool place to hang out, dine or just take drinks in the bar. Dark with lots of exposed brick, stylish decor and lots of private areas to drink this is a fantastic date night restaurant. We had booked to have dinner with was a 5 course affair starting at 9.30pm. The food was very well executed and the presentation exquisite. The portion sizes were extrememly small though and I am not sure if this is their norm or if this was just because it was New Years Eve. If so then people with large appetities may leave a little disappointed. The Sommerlier was very knowledgeble with a great personality and his selection of wines we wonderful. The overall ambience of the place is great and I would certainly be going there again.

Refined Dinner Spot with Fine Food

We had a Sunday dinner in a booth in the bar area on a quiet night. We had an assortment of very good plates from fish and chips, tuna tartar, sautéed gnocchi, prawns and grits -- all carefully prepared and delicious.

Rude hostesses

By Niek |

Rude hostesses, pushy servers who leave you waiting. Bad, bad, bad I won’t be back. We were charged for a wine we didn’t order. The food was mediocre. I would not recommend going to this place.

Interesting food, nice interior

By KnowsHowToTravel |

Had dinner at 25 Lusk in Oct'2013. It is located in an old commercial building off a little side street near Market/Mission. Inside, there is a huge bar downstairs (noisy). Upstairs, the restaurant space is modern, a bit industrial, interesting. Great service from Ramon. Had the following: - Yukon gold gnocchi with cipollini onions and matsutake mushrooms, topped with wild arugula butter. John said this was the best gnocchi he ever had! - Chicken fried quail (think chicken fried steak) with maitake mushroom pancakes drizzled with blackberry maple syrup. Delicious! - Mini cauliflower crème brulee with white truffle oil. Now, we all love rich foods and truffle oil...but this was a bit imbalanced. I think it could have used some crunchy chunks of cauliflower. Good dish to share, because you can only eat a few spoonfuls. - Cowboy ribeye steak was disappointing. Arrived lukewarm; sent it back. When it came back, the meat was tough. Too bad. - Passionfruit posset with kiwi, mint, and champagne granite. This was the highlight of the meal! A posset is like panna cotta. I could tell the passionfruit was fresh, tart and delicious!!! I would come back just for this. I hope they never take this off the menu. Overall, dinner was interesting. A little pricey. Some dishes were better than others. Liked the venue.

Second time I'm at this place and you cannot go wrong. Enjoy the atmosphere it gets pretty busy at night. Food is awesome.

great interior, very good food, pricey

By Fog-blogger |

The restaurant is proud of its interior design, and with good reason. A very cool (and large) bar area downstairs, with multiple spacious seating areas around contemporary fireplaces. Upstairs, an elegant restaurant with a creative mix of contemporary and retro '60s chairs/tables. We were in the restaurant. The food was creative and excellent. One dining companion called the scallop appetizer the best she had ever had. The pork bellies, which sounded greasy, were a tasty meaty-bacon with all kinds of tasty garnish and jus. Main meal of duck was cooked to perfection. Ahi tuna perfectly seared outside, just warmed-raw inside. Desserts also very good, perhaps a touch under the appetizers and entrees. The only thing to avoid is the rootbeer ice cream; tastes a bit like medicine (as the server warned us) - nice of her to do so, because otherwise my son would have taken it. (We had a taste from the three-taster dessert plate.) Our main server was helpful and attentive, but perhaps not a five star, more like a four. (So above the ordinary, but not extraordinary.) The night we were there it was a bit slow, and we had at least four different people helping with the service. So definitely attentive service at this restaurant. I would certainly come back for the food, but would hesitate for the price. With only a glass of wine for three of five diners, and an appetizer, entree for five, and a few desserts, the final bill (with tip and taxes) came to almost $100 per person.

wonderful food and wines

By SFishometome2016 |

We stopped in for the caviar and blinis - best blinis ever. The rest of the menu is equally tasty - I loved the corn creme brulee because the textures and flavors are interesting together, and we all loved the pork. The architecture is really neat - an old brick and timber warehouse-y space, with modern remodelings- sexy, classic - and very appealing to be in.Good architecture makes me feel good to be in it. I felt cozy there. Also excellent wine list, really well-made cocktails. It's a new hot spot for us.

Classy ambience & delicious food

By Darlene C |

We came here because it was open on a Sunday. Great find, tucked away on tiny Lusk Street! There us a subterranean bar with fire places & a bar in restaurant area. Loved the construction & classy mix of decor. For dinner, the 4 of us shared a giant cowboy steak, with salad and appetizers and the most delicious green beans!! Steak cooked perfectly. Delightful experience.

GREAT AT&T PARK AREA RESTAURANT WITH FINE DINING OR CHILL ROOFTOP OPTIONS

By Bill F |

I have been here on several occasions and always enjoy the food and service, but yesterday was my first rooftop experience. It was just before 5:00PM when I arrived and the rooftop was already 80% full and filled up shortly thereafter. The manager Chris took great care of us on a busy day and our recommended choices of food and drink were right on point! We went with the passion fruit margarita, sustainable catch ceviche, and main lobster sandwich. Everything was delicious! The lower two floors inside are for your fine dining mood. You should give 25 Lusk a visit when visiting San Francisco!

Too loud and expensive

By David F |

The food was OK, nothing special, and at these prices I expect better than OK. The room is nice, the place is "trend". Looks like a lively bar scene, so perhaps just come for a drink. The service was attentive. We had to send our steaks back because they were undercooked, they brought back steaks good more to our liking.

Doesn't live up to its pretension

By JAXers |

I ate here with a party of six (family) and so got to try a number of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The appetizers are quite good as are the desserts. I was less impressed with the entrees, which while good enough, lacked finesse (my dish, roasted white beets included tofu "fries" that I found to be particularly uninspired - the beets were surprisingly uneven in preparation). At the price point (about $100 a seat) I expected better.

Loved Everything About This Meal

By BarbKnowles |

The food, the atmosphere, the service were all exceptional. Went with a couple of old friends on a Sunday night. We all got different drinks, starters and entrees so got a chance to taste a good chunk of the menu and it was ALL terrific. Cocktails are creative (and all have great names). Mine was a little light on the vodka and our server brought an extra shot. The Pisco drink was the best of our three. The gnocchi was my favorite starter and the swordfish was my fav entree. Our waiter was knowledgable and personable. Since it was Sunday the place wasn't buzzing but the downstairs bar has lots of inviting seating and looks like it'd be a great place to grab a drink on a Fri or Sat. Definitely mapquest or call ahead to get good directions because it's not that easy to find.

Great California Cuisine with Great Service

By sofiteme |

Getting there is a challenge on Giants' Game Night, but once inside the place is a cool place even if we are not 25-35s someone. Felt a bit "old" for the "young and hype scene" as a few young men positions themselves along the path by the bathroom to caste their lines out to potentials for the night. Another pointer is that can the place make the bathroom area better lighted? Nearly bumped into the wall after going down the stairs, the change of light to darkness was so dramatic that I had to take a few minutes to get my eyes adjusted before going to do my lady stuff. As a group of 8, we had a great table by the window and several staff were always available. We looked into ordering different items from the menu to try/share. Surprisingly the size of serving is a good one, NOT a bite size. So for the price, the serving portion is worthy. The products used are fresh and high quality; the preparation process done right; and dish presentation were beautiful. All the dishes were tasty, BUT if you are conscious of your diet and health, be aware that most dishes are loaded with butter, cream, and above all I found that they are over salted. I had the octopus salad and seared tuna, both seafood dishes were really salty. Would definitely return; but will request less salt for sure. Our table ordered several sides on top of our starters (pork belly, Yukon gnocchi) and main like the mixed vegetable, grilled pepper, and grits. Some had room for desserts, very good as well and artfully presented. Take a look at the pictures. The place has valet service, and there are several Town Cars (taxi) waiting outside.

Chic, trendy & great food

By Tracey Drake |

Located in the SOMA district, this is probably one of the most cosmopolitan chic bar restaurants in San Francisco. We were a large group and the food was amazing. Also, they have a great cocktail list. I recommend the SF YACHT CLUB made with vodka, grapefruit, cucumber, lemon, lime, and mint - it was delicious!

Super chic and cool - but still approachable and great for Happy Hour

By OliveOylSLO |

We came here for happy hour before the Giants game. It's a very swanky and modern looking place. Don't let the decor and the high brow looks scare you off. All the patrons and bar staff couldn't have been nicer. We came because their Happy Hour deals cannot be beat! We came in our full SF Giants gear and we weren't the only pre-game happy hour guests. It was a diverse mix of techies, financial district and pre-game revelers. Happy Hour is 5-7pm - Monday through SATURDAY $5 Wines by the glass (Sauv Blanc, Rose, Tempranillo, and Prosecco). I opted for the includes quite delicious and refreshing Rose Prosecco $4 Anchor Steam Beers $6 Well Drinks $4-$6 Happy Hour Bites. We had the SCRUMPTIOUS steak fries with a mayo aioli that we licked the bowl clean and the Bavarian pretzel bites with truffle fondue dipping sauce. The pretzel bites were soft and came out piping hot. The dipping sauce was YUMMY! If you are looking for a great after work spot, or a bar to grab a few drinks before the game, 25 Lusk is the BEST place by the ballpark to go!

Outstanding California cuisine!

By TJJapan |

We came during restaurant week, so there was a $40 fixed price 3 course meal. It was fabulous! Tuna tartare or celery root ravioli were the appetizers, both were excellent, but the ravioli had a complexity that was so memorable. Then the entrees were giant shrimp or risotto, which were wonderful. Such subtle flavors and careful preparation - the risotto had some kind of smoked olives that I will never forget. And finally, dessert. A lime eggless custard - heavenly. And chocolate brownie with mint ice cream. Our server, Christina, was perfect. She provided great cocktail recommendations and told the entire story of when Barak Obama had dinner there - fascinating. We loved the meal and will be back. They also have a happy hour, with $5 bar bites, yum yum.

GOOD CHOICE

By Nicola R |

In the heart of Soma, beautiful modern architecture, with modern woods and soft lights that create a wonderful atmosphere. Inside the restaurant there is a wonderful bar that offers excellent cocktails before starting dinner. There are no exceptional dishes, but it's all very good, in particular I remember an excellent grilled octopus. Staff prepared and very kind, fast and efficient service, in those days there was also our anniversary and they gave us a very pleasant surprise, good dessert with written happy anniversary, very very appreciated Secluded and well-spaced tables ideal for an intimate and romantic dinner, but given the splendid location, it is also ideal for a dinner with friends. Good prices. We will come back, absolutely recommended

Outstanding meal and incredible service!!!

By Chris A |

Twenty Five Lusk had unbelievable atmosphere and the food was delicious. The fried chicken and pork chop were to die for. The service and hospitality were the best my wife and I ever had! Highly recommend this place. Ask the Somm for wine pairings!

Amazingly good

By GSUKKENT |

I am not sure why this restaurant does not have a higher rating! Located in a sort of warehouse conversion, smart but not too formal. Food was excellent and though not cheap, given the quality it is great value.

Great place... Great food...

Really good place for a business dinner... good food ... very good service.. i really like the interior... lovely staff... bit out of the way though from union square...

Trendy with Fantastic Service and Good Food!

By Anuata |

What a great find! This place looks very lofty with just the right amount of sophistication. A gorgeous seating area downstairs for cocktails. They have good French Champagne by the glass. I saw that one can actually dine downstairs also. Upstairs at the restaurant, the service is simply outstanding! The food was delicious, a good wine menu. They bring little tasters from the Chef, they were excellent, and they also serve complimentary sparkling water. A great place to spend an evening!

Love the mezcal

By juanesteban |

Please give EL CANTARO a try: mezcal aperol, creme de cacao, lemon, simple syrup, chocolate bitters. Visited the place with coworkets and really enjoyed it.

A very pleasant dinner with friends

By Raisa K |

Saturday evening arriving in San Francisco after 15 hours flight. Dinner was arranged in 25 Lusk. The atmosphere was very live, nice people all around. We had a drink in the bar and then we were sat in a very nice round table. The starter, a soup for me was exactly what I needed. Main course and dessert came on time and they were tasty and well presented. I had a great time and it was the best way to manage my jet lag. A very live environment with great food as well.

Not for weekend dinner?

By Stephen F |

This restaurant, where we have had great dinners in the past, seems to be deteriorating. The Prix Fixe menu at $60 is a relative bargain as the quality of the food was excellent, particularly the corn chowder with lobster and crab. But, the restaurant was noisy and the staff, while attentive, seem inexperienced. The self-parking for $20, when it took awhile for the manager to find the key to let us in after dinner, seems a bit disconcerting. This may be a better destination during the week, particularly the new rooftop luncheon dining. Sad to see the change.

Lovely dinner with my team

By Mike W |

My group of 10 had dinner here. The service was impeccable and the menu had a little bit of everything. I had the pork shank which was fantastic. Don't hesitate to try one of their signature drinks and a couple appetizers too. If you're looking for a nice restaurant not too far from AT&T Park, this might be your place!

A great night out if your looking for lively atmosphere with great food and drinks

By jojo60713 |

We found this restaurant very last minute and so pleased we did. Started off in the lively bar downstairs, a young crowd with high energy. Bar service wasn't great if you only want cocktails but the cocktails are well worth the wait. We stayed down there for an hour or two before dinner upstairs. The dining room is very nice and not crammed in. Booths are available as well. Service very attentive but not overly rushed. Very nice evening altogether and will be back soon.

Worth a walk through the alley

By Dina H |

This restaurant is a cool spot located down an alley south of Market. It was recommended to us when looking for a romantic spot at the last minute and a concierge, Leif at Sir Francis Drake, booked us a table, letting them know it was a special occasion. We were seated immediately and inside the restaurant has a relaxed vibe with low lighting, vintage exposed brick and attentive wait staff. Your meal starts with a choice of delicious breads, unsalted butter with sea salts on the side. Next, they bring you a complimentary spoonful of cold soup while waiting for your meal. The menu is a bit short on options and eclectic but I was able to find 2 small plates to satisfy my hunger. I should note that we brought a bottle of wine with us (one we had saved for several years) and the somillier, decanted the wine, offering up some tidbits about the bottle (so interesting) and suggested some pairings of food (they charged $30 for the corkage). Although we were too stuffed (and tipsy!!) for dessert, they brought us 2 salted carmels with the bill. All in all, a fun evening out.

Awesome!

Great place! Food is delicious, service is good. Nice environment and the lounge is super cool. Really enjoyed !

pricey but good

By Travel_bum99 |

It was a little pricey but great for a night out witht ht special someone. Food and specialty drinks were great, must try the cauliflower creme brulee, it sounds weird but it's a worth a try. Down stairs there seemed to be a cool lounge with fireplace and couches.

awesome!

Worth Every Penny and More.......

By Viveutvivas |

I am a foodie and very experienced in dining not to mention I think I live in one of the BEST food places around- Chicago. So with that being said Twenty Five Lusk did not disappoint and I was beyond thrilled with the entire experience. The space itself is fabulous, clean lines, perfect lighting and simply sophisticated. The bartender was quick, knowledgable and was an outstanding server the drinks were fresh and different. The food was amazing. I had the ribeye with the lobster appetizer which was to die for. The sauce on the ribeye was incredible. My boyfriend had the boar which was outstanding along with a side of grits. The food was well executed, fresh and interesting. I would highly recommend to anyone that doesn't mind spending some reasonable money on an unforgettable meal.

Still good and stylish.

By Caroline D |

I have dined there a few times between the restaurant first opening and now and I am happy to say that it still is good and up to its standards: gorgeous space, good ambiance, nice food and good and friendly service. This last time we went for my birthday and we were not disappointed.

Wonderful night at 25 Lusk!

By HeGeKH |

We used to live around the corner, went to 25 Lusk just after it opened in 2010 and got to know the owner and other people working there. Eventually we moved away from SF, but now we were back on vacation in our old home town, catching up with friends - and favorite restaurants. We decided to spend our last evening in SF at 25 Lusk, and were threated like royals! The personnel was so nice to us, we got some nice surprises, food and wine was great, and we also met the owner, who actually remembered who we were! Thank you for such a memorable evening!

Abysmal service

By leagle49 |

Good looking space. Warm woods, lots of candle light. Took probably 15 minutes before our server appeared. Even longer for our drinks to be delivered. Disappeared before taking our food orders. The food came out quickly, delivered by others. He stopped by and we ordered a second round of drinks. Didn't see him again for ages. He finally delivered drinks long after we finished our meal. Told him we no longer wanted them. Asked for boxes for food and the check. He boxed the leftovers but never brought the check. Finally had to ask the hostess. I have never felt so ignored in any restaurant ever. The food was nicely presented. Some dishes was good, some not so much. Will not return. In this city there are so many much better places. Whole meal took over 2.5 hours Very sad.

Trendy restaurant

By Yokozuna_r |

I ate at Twenty Five Lusk for business dinner. The restaurant offers different floors with a trendy ambience. The dishes are original and succulent. Note, fine selection of wines from the world. It is a nice place that I can recommend for a dinner

Friendly Service and Good Food

By Tim R |

I attended a private event at Twenty Five Lusk, so not sure how my evening would translate to a normal lunch or dinner. But, based on the positive experience, I would be willing to find out. Twenty Five Lusk is two levels; which during normal operations would appear to be divided between the upstairs tables for dining and downstairs for a large lounge. During the event, both levels were essentially a lounge and jam-packed with attendees. The bartenders kept things moving by quickly filling orders and doing so with a smile. The servers that were mingling among the crowd with appetizers were also extremely friendly and engaging. The main courses were served buffet-style for the event. Although, the crowd had the restaurant at capacity, the kitchen did a phenomenal job of pushing out loads of food both for the buffets and the servers. All of the food was hot, attractive and flavorful. Based on the friendly and efficient staff, good food and nice décor, I look forward to returning to Twenty Five Lusk in the future to try things in a less hectic environment.

Young, hip, love good food, have money-this is your place

By sancarlosdoc |

Somebody spent a stack of money creating an architectural gem out of an industrial space located down an alley. Downstairs is a thriving bar scene with the restaurant and a second bar upstairs. The crowd is young, well dressed and monied which is necessary to afford the food. Very easy to reach $100/person. The food is terrific. Check their online menu. The quality, preparation, and presentation are first rate and show the pride of a good chef. Service is friendly and well trained. Nothing is rushed. Wine list is extensive with some high markups. A Montefalco Rosso which is $15 at K&L is over $70. Corkage is $30 but if you bring one and buy one they wave the fee. Easy walk from the ballpark or train station. Valet parking is $14.

Birthday Dinner and a Baseball Game

By megswhit |

We decided to stop in here for dinner before heading to the Giants game. We arrived pretty early and had the Prix Fixe Menu. The staff did a great job of making sure we were well taken care of and assisted us with getting to the park when we wanted to. Our group of 8 had an amazing experience and highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. The restaurant is beautiful. If you can, go! It was great.

Neat place but average food at best

By golf_n_cocktails |

This is definitely a trendy place. They do however hang their hat on the trendy factor and lose sight of their food quality. My wife had the Sturgeon Schnitzel and I had the shrimp and grits. They were good, but not great. Service was average at best.

Has potential but doesn’t do anything special

By Sabrine S |

Me and my wife went there last night and were accommodated in the rooftop. The place is nice, drinks ok, but I ordered a “Sustainable catch ceviche” or something like that. I really thought I was going to have a ceviche, but what came was just not a ceviche. The bruschetta was ok also. Could have some interesting starters, would be a cool place.

Good but not great

By Jimmyh174 |

While we had a perfectly pleasant dinner at Twenty Five Lusk I would not go back. The service was amazing and the food was interesting but I left feeling disappointed. There was no "wow" factor. I am on vacation from NY and I wanted to try a "hip" new spot. I heard about Twenty Five Lusk and decided to try it. The first course starts at $14 and goes to $23. Our party of four ended up with two salads, the gnocchi and the pork. All were beautifully presented but none of us felt that any of those dishes were that good. For our main course we ordered the Ahi tuna, BBQ tofu, pappardelle and rib eye. All were very small and rather bland. While the restaurant is very nice I wouldn't go back.

Neat place, great food

By mstopera |

Took a group of about 60 here for a business dinner. We had the entire lower floor, with bar, sitting areas etc, really nice space. The service and staff was wonderful, very attentive and flexible with everything we needed. Good was great and again chef was flexible on special requests.
