The Food Was to Go, but Still Delicious!

By K.B. |

My husband had to travel to San Antonio for work so my son and I decided to tag along. 54th Street is in the parking lot of where we stayed, so we decided to call in our order and try it out. The food was ready in no time and it was still pipping hot when we got it back to our hotel room. I even had enough for leftovers the next day. I am very pleased!

Just ok.

By Jratner629 |

Just ok. Don't expect anything exciting or unusual. Conveniently located next to hotel I was staying.

Great place for bar and grill

By darlynnski |

Went for lunch. Had Cheese steak sandwich and grilled chicken salad. All were good and fresh tasting. Staff was great. Price was reasonable. Will go back.

Good Location, Good Food and Great Service

By do25100 |

It was close to the hotel and I wasn't sure what I was in the mood for - they had a broad menu selection and really hit the mark with the Buffalo Chicken Salad and a Happy Hour frozen Margarita. My thanks to Heather, one of the best servers that I've had the pleasure of dealing with in a long time.......

Variety, Quality

By Gerald T |

We enjoyed a steak, salad, baked potato an d pretzel stick appetizers. All were well prepared and tasty. The Grill has a nice nostalgic atmosphere, Sports TV, good servers. It has become a favorite for us.

Enjoyed a great lunch here!!!

This was the first time for both me and my husband to eat at this chain. The menu offers a lot of variety and we had beautiful artisan sandwiches with a great choice of side dishes.

Return after some time

By L H |

Met friends here for happy hour early. The host didn't have a clue as to when happy hour was and told us to ask the waiter. Happy Hour is 3 pm to 6 pm and our first waiter came timely, introduced himself and then brought us water as we requested. Shortly another waiter came and advised us they would be taking care of us since the other waiter was ending his shift. This waiter was very friendly and took our food orders and suggested getting a bottle of house wine for $18 rather than each getting HH glass of it at $4 each. She came back quickly with it but didn't seem too experienced in pouring it as she filled the glasses too full so that the last person barely got any. She took our food orders and brought us back our Gringo Dip and Chips, which was very good and part of the HH specials. She returned shortly visibly upset and told us she had an emergency and needed to leave and someone else would finish up. We felt empathy for her but weren't sure who would serve us. Eventually we called another waiter over and asked and then another waitress came and told us she would be our waitress. From then on everything went smoothly. Two of us ordered Tequila Wrappers ($8) and Chicken/Guacamole Quesadilla ($7) and the others ordered wings, which were suppose to be Cajun but instead was served Lemon Pepper and a Summer Salad. All of the food was very good and a good portion as well as a perfect temperature. The noise level was not bad at all for the venue but it wasn't terribly crowded when we arrived but did get busier as we prepared to leave. We would return again.

They're On The Move!

By OmniEpicurean |

This is a place that reminds you of what T.G.I.F.s was like back in the day. Walls filled with kitsch and eclectic memorabilia, but a little less frenetic (no roller skating wait people with whistles covered with light pulsing buttons and weird hats, . . .and no fern plants). Don't get the taco salad unless you just happen to have a rabbit that someone gave you for Easter. I have never seen so much lettuce, outside the grocery store, all in one place! And you will be taking some home (unless you don't do left overs - but be considerate of that rabbit). They do top the salad with a goodly portion of tasty seasoned ground beef. but the guacamole is not made in house as is the pico. Just add some guacamole or chipotle ranch dressing and you are ready to do some grazing. The salad is built on a bed of individual tortilla chips rather than a fried taco bowl - good though I actually prefer the latter. The side of macaroni and cheese was lip smacking good with pasta shell and spirals as opposed to the usual elbow macaroni. Very cheesy and topped with crunchy bread crumbs. I forgot to mention the mini-loaf of hot bread with honey butter; a little better than the Shiner bread at Saltgrass. Very talkative waitress and personable assistant manager that came by to check on us. It may be a chain, but they certainly seem to be doing all the right things right. I think I would move them from 54th to at least 10th if I was the restaurant cartographer though.

Huge portions-great value

By Mark K |

This was right in the shadow of our hotel so we took a chance. Service was very good and the food was not only good but there was a lot of it. There were five in our party and no one finished their meal. My one complaint though minor, was the refusal to serve and 18+ adult a glass of wine when accompanied by an adult. In Texas the law allows and 18-20 year old to drink with their parents while in a bar our restaurant. However if you are expecting this here go elsewhere because they will refuse service to anyone younger than 18.

Lovely steak, bit too much seasoning

By dgm17 |

Popped in for a steak. Lovely steak very tender, cooked just right, just a bit too much pepper seasoning. Service was very good.

Good meal at a great price

By Kevin S |

My family and I stop by for and early dinner, we were not expecting much and choose this location due to its location to the hotel. I am glad we did the staff was very friendly and the burgers were great. If I am ever back in San Antonio I will definitely stop by again.

54th Street Baja Jim's salad

By Jim N |

Went to 64th Street for our weekly guys lunch and adult beverages. Tried the Baja Jim's salad for the first time. Pretty good! Could use a little more grilled chicken though. As usual, sat at the bar. Barbie, our bartenders, did a super job of taking care of us. Smart, efficient and always friendly. Salad was very nice without to much dressing but could use s Little more grilled chicken. As we come here at least once a week, guess you can say we can recommend it. We do!

Three visits and consistently good

By Trevorkmcc2020 |

Nice pub with a good selection of beers, efficient staff and good reasonably charged food. The atmosphere is good too so if I’m back here I’ll certainly return.

Tasty Burgers and Sandwiches!

By Debra W |

Received a 20% coupon in the mail, which was our incentive for a Friday night dinner. The place is usually pretty packed on weekend nights, but the wait was only 15 minutes, just enough time to start a margarita. My daughter always get the Cheeseburger Sliders (enough for dinner and a bonus lunch the next day!), I chose a 6 oz Cheeseburger (and added Jalapenos) and my hubby had the French Dip Sandwich. I had a Frozen Strawberry Margarita and my hubby had a Mojito (which was huge)! Everything was soooo good. We all left fat and happy!

Variety is EVERYTHING!

By CAJAN |

We had a party of 9 ranging from the ages of 17-73 and the menu options had something for us all. It was clean, we were promptly seated, the staff were professional, kind, attentive, had thorough knowledge of the menu and most of all patience with the 1st timers who were taking a while longer to order than the average guests. The prices are affordable and appealing to families on a budget! Last but certainly not least the food. The proportions are more than enough to fill you up and have a full meal to go. Everyone at our table agreed it was DELICIOUS!!! Although she had assistance from other Team Members with refills, KRISTIN did a WONDERFUL job on everything from the start of our visit to the very end! We'll dine here again when we're in the area.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!

By Jacquie G |

We frequent 54th Street Grill and Bar at The Rim for dinner more than any other restaurant. It's so convenient. We sit at the bar because of bartenders like Asia (sp?) and Amanda. They treat us like royalty, we love them! We order the top shelf margaritas and they truly are top shelf. I order the blackened salmon every time because it's SO good. The summer salad is the best too. My husband orders the veggie burger and sweet potato fries every time and has yet to be disappointed. Can't say enough about 54th St. Grill and Bar.

Great fun.

By Anne L |

Fun and trendy. Great prices on appetizers and beer happy hour, It has a great atmosphere and the decorations are really out of sight with sports memorablia.

Great TVs

By 193raphaelv |

Large selection of TVs and menu was diverse for a sports themed bar, but nothing extraordinary. Great place to watch a game!

Blah

By J E |

I came here with coworkers (their pick) one evening for dinner… very basic menu, not too much that’s original on it… mostly pub/bar type food, prepared in a similar style. Service was just ‘ok’… we had questions about the menu which she couldn’t answer. The items that came out were decent, nothing exciting.

Go to spot when in town

By Cliff F |

I love this place just because it has about anything on menu to eat. Close to everything at the Rim.

Good

By Funtraveler2014 |

This is a great place for good food and a sports bar atmosphere. It was very crowded the Saturday night we chose so we decided to go sit in the bar instead of waiting to be seated. They have a great cold mug that they advertise the beer will be 29 degrees. It is good. The service and food were very good. I can recommend the chopped salad, the sliders, complimentary bread and the triple crown hambuger. This is a good stop but not for anyone that wants a quiet meal. I can recommend and we will return.

Traveliers........ great location, outstanding food and good atmosphere!

By Bud B |

Traveliers........ great location, outstanding food and good atmosphere! Right next to the Hilton Garden Inn and the food is outstanding! Some of the Female bartenders have a crappy attitude..... but overall, again, great food quality!

Relaxing and Fun

By AR1350 |

We stopped in here for happy hour as it was within walking distance from our hotel and offered better selection and pricing than the hotel. This is definitely a sports bar with many TVs and a lot of seating both inside and outside. We ordered mini tacos and hamburgers, but the menu was extensive if you wanted a full meal. They were just the right size to tide us over till dinner. The bar offered many different types of been, wine and mixed drinks. The atmosphere was fun and as we sat at the bar we chatted with others sitting there, many of whom are "regulars." We'd stop in again.

The staff will go out of their way to make your meal "first class!".

By mitchellthetexan |

I had the best time eating here. My wife and I were on a 3 day staycation and our friend joined us for an afternoon. First thing we did was get food. Everybody, literally EVERYBODY was rustling around at all times to make sure we had a great time. If your a family coming out of Fiesta Texas and want a nice dinner place for you and the kids. Go here! It will require driving around the constant construction on hwy 1604. But , the traffic shuts down as the sun sets. I've done the drive and if you're traveling with kids, it's worth the 5 extra minutes. Nobody will be hungry at bedtime.

Great atmosphere and food!

By Puck207 |

Went here as a family and have no complaints. Good food and fast service! A must try! The kids loved looking around at all the nest things hung on the walls and ceiling.

Good Food and Drink

By mayfair57 |

For a smaller chain, the selection and quality was very good. Highly recommend the queso and margaritas - service was also great! So much to select from; however, the appetizers were excellent. Texas sized chicken fried steak and potatoes were excellent as well.

A bit of everything

By Gerald T |

Nostalgic decor, good, moderately priced food, generally good service. Bar area is too loud for my taste. Several large screen with varied sports content. Mostly a young crowd, but can appeal to all ages.

Bob's 54th Street Review

By Bob M |

The food and service are excellent. I enjoyed all of the pictures they had around the restaurant. This place is very family friendly but you can also take business associates.

New Favorite

By RussellK1653 |

Gave 54th a try...AWESOME!!! This is my new favorite..there were about a hundred things on the menu I wanted and settled on the Baja Combo. Seasoned chicken in tortilla wrap with chips..salsa and a great queso dip! Desert was a terrific carrot cake. I want to try everything!

Made Me Want to Hug the Waitress

By OmniEpicurean |

This restaurant is definitely at the corner of 54th and Good Eats street in Have It Your Waysville. Among the three waiters/servers that waited on us, our every expectation was met from extra plates in order split appetizer, entree and salad, to serving refills before being asked, and asking after our satisfaction of the meal not once, but three times! If I did not know better, I would say that all the service personnel just graduated from Customer Care University magna cum laude. And the food equaled the service in superlatives. Gigantic fried stuffed mushrooms with horsey sauce, a cold crisp Caesar salad, and a done pink in the middle (can you believe it) accouterments customized cheeseburger! Made me want to hug the waitress(es), but my wife was there so I settled on leaving a good tip. Bottom line, the food and service is just what you want it to be.

Nice intro to Texas dining

By Lamont F |

In walking into the restaurant, the decorum reminds me of TGI Fridays. After seating down and ordering I realized it is definitely different. I had the Protein Power Rice Bowl with Salmon. The dish was quite tasty and low in calories. The prices were also reasonable so you won't break the bank trying to feed a family of four. Cheers to the lone star state.

Disappointed in hamburger

By satxdiver |

We have been to this particular restaurant many times usually around once a month as we live near by. I have a few entrees that I really like so this time I chose to order my sometimes usual mushroom burger (minus the Swiss) in the smaller 6 oz size with french fries. Imagine my surprise expecting the burger to be a 6 oz burger patty when I saw two smaller burgers instead cooked well done. This is what I might expect at mickey D's and a whole lot cheaper. The restaurant was very busy and after having waited for a table etc, I ate most of it, paid and left. I am very disappointed that evidentially 54th street has decided to cheapen their product and over cook it. The mushrooms were of the type one gets in a 4 oz can of mushrooms which is where I suspect the mushrooms came from and not very tasty. The fries though were the usual fries I have come to like so there was one positive part to my meal along with the excellent IPA. Also on a positive note my partner ordered the 1/2 chicken fried chicken and proclaimed it to be as good as she had had it many times before. I know way too many great burger joints in SA and will not make this mistake again. It makes me wonder if the other dishes I like have equally been cheapened.

Lots of beer

Just tried for an expirience and it was good Service was excellant Menu was good for our needs, lunch Had the quesadilla which was large

Oh boy what a variety

By Jaquice W |

If you are looking for options this is definitely the spot. This place offers wings, salads, nachos, ribs, steak, sea food, tacos, and just about anything and everything in between. Overall this is a great spot to come to and the food is good. Our order didn't take a long time to come out either. We had a friendly waitress. If I ever visit again I will make sure to stop by here again. Oh yeah and I like the eclectic decor.

Lively neighborhood place

By busybee2775 |

Good draft menu, friendly staff, good options to eat pub food. Hate that calories are listed so that is always a downer. Otherwise, lively place to gather and hang out and has a good outdoor.

Awesome

By DAW59 |

I ate here twice in a week - and once in a previous visit. The restaurant has good service, great food and a cool place. What more can one ask for? Great prices - and this place has that too!

They have Kraft Mac. This was the highlight.

By SingingOTune |

We rolled in after an amazing day at Fiesta Texas with our 8 yo twins. I did online check in and they have tons of kids options including Kraft (they won’t eat this at home). Wifey and I split a burger..the devil whatever. Came over cooked and not spicy at all. Server was ok at best. Asked for our order before we had even sat down, not familiar with tiers of tequila on menu for margs. Neat environment, but we prob won’t be back.

Must brew beer to order: took 30 minutes to get beer

By MCH |

I ate here because it was right next door to my hotel. It was Tuesday night, and it was about 9:30. I walked from hotel, and it was the only place within walking distance. Otherwise, I would have left. I ordered a beer, and waited...and waited ... and then the waitress came to tell me the. At was backed up, so I waited some more. 30 minutes later I received my beer. The food arrived at the same time. I had the wings, which were terrible. Very greasy. As in, puddles of grease in the basket. Asked for blue Cheese, and received ranch. Asked for blue Cheese again, and got some very odd dressing that was white, but not blue Cheese. I suggest skipping this place.

Tough cold chicken

By bears60 |

Our first visit and have to say I was dissapointed. The chicken fried chicken was cold and the meat was tough to cut even with a knife. My mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were luke warm. My wife's salad was the only good tasting item. We had to ask the waitress for tea after running dry. The restaurant is beautiful and very clean. We will try it again since it is close to our home, hopefully it will be better with different selection of food.

Nice lunch

By Mommabearsmith |

My husband and I had a very nice date lunch-one of the nice things about retirement. Every day is Saturday! Service was great. Waitress offered samples of soup and beer that we were contemplating. My husband had unlimited steak soup and salad. Both were very good. I had pulled pork sandwich and baked potato soup. Both of those were very good also. We also had a tasting flight of beers. We really enjoy the tasting. I ended up preferring a beer I would never have ordered. We shared a mini slice of creme brûlée cheese cake. (Wasn't very "mini" just not over-sized.) Cheese cake was good but not excellent. We will definitely go back to 54th St. Only negatives are a long, complicated menu and the lack of healthy choices. It's definitely pub grub.

Gotta try the stuffed mushrooms

By Rick H |

THEY ARE HUGE - you only get 4, but they are fantastic. Great to split with a few people or simply have by yourself - just be warned, they aren't small :). Staff super friendly plus clean restaurant. A must try in SA

Nice bar with good selection

By St_Matty |

This is a good bar for a few drinks and food. Has a little patio area and TV's for sports fans. Good selection of beer and food. Near to the Marriott and Hilton hotels. Service was very good

Pretty good place

By Mercedes6623 |

This is a sports bar with better food. The music is loud. As you might expect, for a Friday, it was full. This is a Draft House, with the temperature of the beer posted at the bar. There are a total of 32 draft beers, separated on the menu, by flavor profile. Some bottled beer are on the menu as well. Although we intended to sit at the bar. I heard the young lady at the check-in podium tell a lady that the wait for the restaurant was about 40 minutes. The bar is in the shape of a squared-off "U" shape with large TVs tuned to sports station. There were four TVs just on one side of the bar. Behind the bar, at a long bar that only faces the wall, there are smaller TVs. We managed to snag two bar stools. What I appreciated was the small step about ankle-height to assist with getting up onto the stool. Beyond the bar, there are tall, cocktail tables. Some of these look out onto large glass windows. A few brave people were sitting outside on the patio. The dining room is separated by this half stone/half glass walls that reach up to the ceiling. The dining room is rather large as well. Many of the items on the menu are fried, such as appetizers; however, the menu includes salads, soups, hamburgers, sandwiches, chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, sides and a few dessert offerings. The menu is extensive. Not as bad as the Cheesecake Factory but at least a few pages long. We began with pretzels served with a very good cheese sauce. The next thing we ordered were the tater tots. They arrived and were not really hot. Several sauces are offered with the tots. My husband likes ranch dressing; I preferred the cheese sauce served with the pretzels. I was not a fan of the tater tots; my husband liked them. We split the chicken fried chicken. When I told the bartender that we were going to split the dish, they divided it for us without us having to ask. We asked for the mashed potatoes, which were good, and the green beans. My husband liked the green beans. I kept my cheese sauce and used it on my chicken. I was really glad that I had as I did not care for the taste of the white gravy. (Our bill was $56 for the food and six beers. You can save a few bucks by getting there for Happy Hour.) Beyond the dining room are the bathrooms. Ladies, this good-sized bathroom has three, clean stalls.

Excellent food, great service!

By Frans d |

We went on a busy sunday night, and got a great meal. Quality was good, service was excellent and price was very reasonable.

A favorite

By Gerald T |

Never had a bad meal here. Service consistently good. My wife and often split meals and that works well at 54th street. Good place to watch sports while you eat.

American food

By RVSVD |

Me, my wife and my 2 kids have eaten here several times. Food is usually very good although we did go for dinner about 8 pm and it was really busy. We got our food and it was less than hot, just warm. Portion sizes are really good, prices are not too bad. It has a very fun atmosphere for everyone and the bar section is separate from the main dining area which is great.

Great place for lunch and dinner

By 195sharon |

Had lunch and dinner here a few times over the last month and my husband and I both loved it. There is a nice lunch menu to choose from or order anything from the rest of the menu and you will be happy. The summer salad is wonderful. Sandwich choices are all good too. This past Sunday. a friend had the petit sirloin and her husband had the gyro......all good. The service is always good. Corbin, our waiter on Sunday, was very attentive and very nice. You won't be disappointed when you try 54th Street Grill.

Very helpful

By gerald W |

Beau Pierce is a Keeper! Wife and I celebrated a significant anniversary. One of us is seriously impacted by monosodium glutamate (MSG). Beau took the time to discuss with us and confirm which offerings contained it. Then he prepared a custom dish especially for us. We really appreciate the personal attention that he gave us. Most enjoyable event. Can't say enough about the courtesy and attention he gave us at a busy time of the day. Very much appreciated.

Inexperienced staff, food was ok

By Dennis914 |

I felt like the staff was somewhat inexperienced. Our waitress forgot to put in our order, but was friendly. I didn't feel that the food was anything special. Some of the appetizers were good and there was a wide selection of drinks, but my steak was just average. Cuts were thin and not very big, but it was properly cooked. I don't know if I'll be back.

Cold Beer, great appetizers

By FRG0217 |

It's got to be the coldest beer in town and great appetizers. The sports bar area is phenomenal with great views of several sports. We frequently attend 54th Street as the service is also stellar.

Not the worst but definitely not the best

By lilguy10 |

My wife wanted to eat here since we were in from out of town. I thought the name was weird but choose to tag along. Waited about 40 min for a table ( it was a Friday night). Once seat the waitress came and got our drink order and we ordered an appetizer. Don't get the mushrooms, they were bland and disgusting. Wife got the chicken fingers ( looked like they were straight out of a bag into the fryer). No flavor what so ever. My Caesar salad looked good due to the chopped lettuce, but it lacked flavor with the dressing. About the only thing I enjoyed was my sliders. At least they had some flavor to them. The inside reminds me of Chili's or Bennigans, or maybe even a Hard Rock Café. Don't plan on returning.

Great Bar...great feel and great beer selection

By Randall M |

I love this place...not all “54th” are the same...this is higher end and great beer selection...bar is ONLY place to sit...great atmosphere 👍👍👍... If you haven’t tried the Blanco brewed “Devil’s Backbone” beer...you’re missing out...heavier “Belgium tripel “...abv is over 8%...on tap...great onion rings and great apps...if you’re looking for a great happy hour destination, this is it!

Last minute place

By Shantel Lowery |

This place was located really close to our hotel. We walked over from the courtyard Marriott. It's family friendly place. It has a bar in it, but the bar is separated by a big thick sliding glass. I enjoyed the food and service.

Stormy Beginnings

By OmniEpicurean |

Sometimes you just can't pass up a discount on a restaurant where you have had good food before. That was the case with the $10 off discount card we received in the mail for this place. Food prep is a little slow for a business lunch, but as long as you know that, you can ask for your check before the meal ends to shave off a little time. The lunch specials are a bargain at $7.99. Especially for the 8 oz. (1/2 lb) burgers that they serve here. Started the lunch with a shared caesar salad, fresh romaine and creamy dressing; easily large enough for two to share as small salads. Next, one hamburger came out with a hard bun (my wife's of course) and the fries that come with the order remained undelivered. Not sure why, Maybe some mix up thinking that the salad and the baked beans we ordered were to be substituted for the fries!? Anyway, the fries arrived fairly quickly, but were definitely over seasoned with salt. The waitress bustled to get the fix in while my wife fumed. Meanwhile the manager came over most likely alerted by the waitress of some fomenting discontent. Robert wanted to make sure the problems were getting taken care of and did so with the expertise of a seasoned weatherman ushering away my wife's stormy nimbus condition and bringing back that sunny disposition. No small accomplishment at times. Fresh bun, fresh hot fries and a big half lb. burger with fresh accouterments cooked medium as requested . . . and that doesn't happen often. All was right with the world again and a potentially spoiled lunch was saved by deft wait help and manager intervention. The baked beans with brisket I ordered were sweet with a few small pieces of brisket for a needed savory addition. I enjoyed them along with the burger, but they could have been a little less sweet for my taste. And as a rainbow addition to this stormy lunch turned bright day, we were offered the choice of a free dessert . . . cheese cake with caramel sauce it was, to go. Later consumption of the dessert revealed a large slice with plenty of caramel sauce and a pretty darn good crust and flavor. And for my wife this was the pink sunset to the meal that delivered a "we'll have to go back there again" forecast.

Wanted to try our local 54th Street

Well needless to say—-seated quickly—-hostess said your waiter will be right with you——20 minutes later—-no one!!!! Got up left and 6 employees hanging out at hostess area!!!! Wow!!!! Don’t waste your time!

Lunch 11/12/16

By Memo t |

Wandered in for a late lunch after receiving coupons in the mail. The atmosphere is busy, Jr Dragster, Midget race car hanging from the ceiling, all kinds of movie items on the walls. Had fish tacos, grilled fish not fried. It was plain, did get some pico de gallo to help.

First visit

By Edward T |

Good food reasonable prices service was very good. Nothing negative just wish more desert options. Great drinks

Great food at decent price

By Bruski21 |

Stopped in to this new 54th street bar and grill having been to a couple others with good results. This time for a lunch. Selected the 1/2 size chicken fried steak. Thought it may not be enough, but it was lunch. Surprised when it arrived I thought they had made a mistake and given me the full order it was so large. It had great flavor and a pretty good gravy too. The mashed potatoes were good as were the green beans. There was also a biscuit that had good flavor, but was a little bit on the dry side. My two friends split a rack of baby back ribs. It was plenty for them and would be too much for one person. They were fall off the bone tender and had a decent BBQ sauce. We had a 20% off coupon (for the food only) if each person had a drink (Coke and tea). Final bill was $31 +tip. Server was good and attentive. No problem going back to this place again. The menu was so large multiple returns may be needed.

Worst Hostesses Of all time

By Alan D |

Totally ignored us. Took other parties names. I ate there on average once a month. Never never again

Convenient, fast service, sports bar area

By TravelerSJT |

Great for families or sit at a separate sports bar area. Variety of food. Fair prices and good sized portions. Walk to Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard and another hotel at the Rim.

First Time Visit

By Marbev L |

We received a gift certificate in the mail to try out the restaurant. It was a little hard to find because it is near a very large shopping center, but we made it. The food was good and the service was very good. The minute we sat down we had someone to take our drink orders and shortly after that the food order. It was a fun place to eat and we would return again.

Great food, good Magies pleasant bar tenders

By Bud B |

Stopped here because it is right next to the Hilton Garden Inn but it wound up being a Great place to eat. The Happy Hour specials are reasonable and tasty! The margaritas are also excellent!

Great Menu & Food

By Michael Schlatter |

We’ve been to 54th Street Brewhouse several times. Three things really impress me about this place - their extensive menu, the quality of their food and their reasonable prices. You can get just about anything your heart desires and it’s good. Tonight I had the baby back ribs and they were delicious. You just can’t go wrong at this place.

New restaurant with new staff?

By Ruckstell |

Thought we'd try this place at the Rim as it was new to us and had just opened within the last month or so. It's a chain and they seem to want to fill the place with as much stuff as they can to hang from the ceiling including upside down umbrellas-no real rhyme or reason to the decor but we're there to eat. Beer menu/selection was good, although some of the selections were asterisked (*) and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why---no * explanation anywhere in the fine print around the menu..go figure. The lunch specials at $7.99 were a pretty good bargain. I got the half sandwich and soup, turkey on ciabatta-meh, w the steak soup-good and hearty. Wife had the 8 oz. burger/fries, medium well with no pickle. It arrived med rare with pickle and a few apologies from a manager type and the waitress. Burger was nothing special, no real good char on the patty but the fries were fresh and pretty good. With the other options at the Rim and La Cantera like BJ's, Yardhouse and such with more varied and lighter menus, we probably won't return to 54th St.

Great Place for food and drinks

By WhiskeyGiggles |

I had never been here but I was told it was good. My friends were right. I can't remember the name of the dip but it was awesome!! I could have eaten a barrel of it! And the drinks were amazing and pretty cheap. I loved the fact that the prices were printed right beside the drink and ingredients. I can't wait to go back.

Very Average

By truetexangurl |

After shopping at The Rim, we decided to eat here. The chicken fried steak was fairly good, the bbq beans were good and the mac and cheese is very good. The chicken dishes were only okay because the breasts are too large and stringy. The seafood platter was not great. The fish is tilapia and the fried shrimp are tiny and seemed like frozen breaded shrimp. The waitresses were very nice and efficient. Would only go back to try the appetizers, maybe. Most items are very pricey for the quality of the food.

Good neighborhood restaurant

Moderate prices, interesting decor---especially fun for kids because there are so many items everywhere--even the ceiling. Food was good and great pace for visiting with friends.

Pleasant Surprise! Great Atmosphere!

By Dawn D |

Husband recommended 54th Street; daughter & I were pleasantly surprised. Great collection of nostalgia on exhibit, huge burger was tasty & enough to share. Visit wouldn't be complete without gringos queso with a craft beer! They have a nice selection of beer to choose from. Our server was awesome to boot!

Great place, great food and service!

This is a chain and I am reviewing ONLY the I-10 location close to the Rim Shopping Area. Best waitress we have had for a long, long time! She knew the VAST items on the menu like the back of her hand and gave several suggestions. I had the "pork wings". Succulent pork "riblets" that were fall of the bone tender. Wife had a burger and said it was excellent. 3rd party had a Reuben sandwich and asked that it be prepared a certain way. The waitress even came back to make sure she had ordered it correctly. WOW! Love that the place has glass partitions hanging from the ceiling to break down noise between sections. Easy to have a conversation without shouting here. HUGE menu and so many items I would like to try. We WILL be back and soon!

Pleasantly Surprised

My wife and I are always looking for new places to eat. Sure glad we picked the 54th Street Grill & Bar near The Rim shopping center. We elected to go straight to the bar and order dinner there. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. We were really surprised by the prices for beer and wine. We usually feel ripped off, but my wife had a nice house 9 oz cabernet savignon for only $5.79. My 16 oz Anchor Steam draft was only $5.25. Those are the most reasonable drink prices I've seen for a long time. The bar area had a lot of televisions tuned to different sporting events. They were easy to watch and large enough to see detail. The meal came with a small loaf of dark bread. For some reason, restaurants seem to think bread needs honey or some other sweet topping. I don't like it. I like unadulterated bread and I like to put butter on it. So after one small slice, the bread went uneaten. I think restaurants should offer a choice. But this was the only downside to our night. For dinner, my wife had a seafood salad that she deemed delicious. I ordered a rack of baby back ribs that came with two sides. I opted for the fries and cole slaw. The ribs were excellent. The fries were thick cut and not bad. Personally, I prefer the skinny fries. But I was really happy with the cole slaw. It was one of the best I've ever had. Our bill ended up at an even $50 which included a generous tip. That's a pretty nice bargain these days for all we got. We will definitely be going back!

A chain restaurant that tries not to act like it

By goldenwds |

Received a 20% coupon in the mail, which was our incentive for a Tuesday mid-afternoon meal.@ 54th Street. Is a chain restaurant that tries not to act like it. The staff is helpful, friendly, efficient and very patient! From our booth I could see the Lg flat screen TV (which can also be seen from most of the dining room tables/booths. Food is very tasty and reasonably priced from previous experience. The facility is clean and inviting with a funky decorating scheme that will keep you busy looking for objects on the wall and hanging from the ceiling. My wife ordered Traditional Chicken Salad (Grilled Chicken) & I had Cheese Burger (8 oz) from 3 Course Dinner for 2. The Share a Full Size Appetizer we had the Sky Scraper Rings & the Dessert we shared the Mini Crème Brulee Cheesecake. My wife’s meal (enough for dinner and a bonus lunch the next day!), but my 6 oz Cheeseburger was very salty (I will say some thing next time we eat there). In the past the meals was soo good. I think the chief got heave handed with salt shaker.

Rowdy but Fun and Great Eats!

54th is a chain restaurant that tries not to act like it.The staff is helpful, friendly, efficient and very patient! The ambiance is party time with the buzz of voices in the air and shouts of approval from the bar area where patrons gather around the TVs (which can also be seen from most of the dining room tables/booths. Food is very tasty and reasonably priced. The facility is clean and inviting with a funky decorating scheme that will keep busy looking for objects on the wall and hanging from the ceiling. Restrooms are very clean. This is one of our favorite restaurants.

Great food but......

By go2gamble |

The service is not consistent. Out of 10 visits in 3-4 months the food has been consistently good but service is not the best and do not see many repeat servers so there must be some internal issue. Finally spoke to Manager John to discuss my previous concerns and he blamed the poor service on the server being new....wow! Too many options in The Rim....won't be back...

Tasty food and drink!

By Debra W |

My hubby had the spiked cherry limeade and I had the jalapeño margarita! Both were very good. I love it when you can actually taste the alcohol in the drink! We munched on chips, salsa, and guacamole. I would not recommend this as an appetizer because it was like Pace Picante Sauce and the guacamole you buy in the grocery store. My hubby had a Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwich (which he ate when he was young growing up in the Midwest) - he LOVED it!! I had the Chicken Fajita Salad with Salsa as salad dressing. It was tasty and filling. Great, friendly service. A happening place during Happy Hour!

Really good!!!

We were visiting San Antonio for four days, so the first day we went to eat there and the food was delicious and the prices good enough. I can recommend the nachos and the potato soup.

I have visited this location multiple times. Sadly, it seems the quality of the service and food is not what it used to be.

Favorite sports bar in the Rim

By Natalie B |

My husband and I love to come here and sit at the bar and get appetizers and the Devil's Backbone beer! The bar staff is super friendly and you can watch 7-8 TV's at one time. Great place to watch football and basketball. Food always great. Favorite sandwich is the Havana Club.

Great variety, cold beer, excellent food.

I think we are here three times in ten days. The food was excellent, plenty of choices, super cold beer!

Love the Gringo dip!

By SanAntoniDani |

Reasonable restaurant with good options. I have tried the chopped salads and the burgers, but I always go back to the Gringo cheese Dip!

Good eats for a reasonable price

Love the food at 54th Street. Especially love the biscuits. The food is very reasonably priced and everything we've tried has been very good. Love the chicken fried chicken.

They Nailed It!

By OmniEpicurean |

We have had burgers two times here now and miracles do happen. One of my favorite rants is about restaurants that sell burgers but, can't, won't, don't serve burgers to one's liking in terms of doneness. We asked for and (hallelujah!) received medium burgers with pink hot centers. Now is that too much to ask for from other restaurants!? I would think not, but 54th is one of few places where they get it and get it right. They get that it makes a big difference to the customer that is not afraid of a little pink in their beef. First bite and I knew they had nailed it; juicy and still hot. No dripping blood to tempt the vampires at the next table, just a perfectly done 1/2 lb of beef served on an artisan bun with fresh condiments and salty than heck fries. They (waitress and manager) were very nice and apologetic about the fries and truly appreciated getting the information. They also added a small recompense which solidified their voiced concern for our satisfaction . . . nothing but class! I might be a little gun shy on the fries next time, but the burger will stand on its own. The baked beans and macaroni and cheese are also very good substitutes if you would rather. Did I mention the stuffed mushrooms for appetizers?! 3 to 4 very large porcini mushrooms stuffed with herbed cream cheese then battered and fried until just golden (don't want to melt the cream cheese!). Served with a lively, but not at all nose biting horseradish dipping cream . . . jackpot! Watch it or these rich little shrooms will soon be gone and so will your appetite for the main course you are waiting to be served.

Solid Choice, Good Variety

This is one of those "everyone will find something they like" kind of places. A dish for just about every taste, if not high end. Drinks were good, they make a nice mojito.

Below average

By Jocelyn G |

Can't a girl just get a beer! Husband and myself sat down, soon asked what we wanted for drinks. Had to ask for drinks menu....got the cocktail list....waited, had to ask for beer list....waited..FINALLY got to order a nice cold beer. But then dinner, the steak was so chewy and so heavy on the pepper that you couldn't taste the steak. Both of us left it uneaten. So, still rather hungry, we ordered chocolate cake for dessert....we got this rather solid dry poor excuse of a cake. So dry it was hard to swallow, one mouthful each and we were done. Waitress didn't give a damn that we had bad meals. If you want a similar meal, better quality and service, go to Aspen Creek grill, 100% better.

Excellent Bar and Grill!

Looking for a quick meal on Halloween around 4 o'oclock in the afternoon. This was the closest restaurant to our hotel. The food was excellent. We were very surprised by the great outdoor area next to the bar. A beautiful touch! I'd highly recommend this place for anyone looking for quite a variety of food to please everyone in your party!

Group met for Happy Hour

By L H |

Some of us had not been to 54th before and others had not been to this location. It is located at The Rim Shopping Center right on the access road. It has limited parking in the front but ample parking in the rear of building. We met for Happy Hour which is only from 3-6 and several employees made sure to mention this several times before and during our visit. It was not too busy around 4:30 and seating was not a problem for a group of 8. All of the employees were friendly. Part of the HH is full size appetizers for $5.99 and they also have some drink specials. Wine specials were not on the HH offerings but they do have a varied selection of wine in different portions. The appetizer menu has lots of choices with only a few not included in HH. They also have sliders for $1.75 each with minimum of 2 in order. We all ordered one or two appetizers to share and they were plentiful. The Boneless Wings (regular) still had sauce on them which had a slight "bite" to it but the ranch dressing eased it back some:) They indicated the spicy wings were hotter. The waffle fry basket with the Gringo Dip was a perfect portion for two and very good. The dip also has a bit of a zing to it. The sliders were enjoyed by all as well. The food was prepared correctly and arrived in a timely manner and nice presentation. Our checks were brought timely as well but the waitress never returned after we signed them to pick them up. Granted we all did stay for a longer than usual time finishing up our drinks and food and chatting but when we left the checks were still sitting on the table. Although the place filled fast, it was not noisy. We all enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and would return here again and try more items as we didn't even get to the main menu food. The do have a reward program which is by app but you can get the waiter to sign you up for e-mails. Our waiter didn't mention this and we forgot to ask about it.

What a great experience

By TexasTravler45 |

We received a discount card in the mail, so my wife and I decided to try this restaurant because we had never been there and are always looking for new places. From the time we walked in the door until we left, everyone and everything was just about perfect. My wife ordered the fish and shrimp and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. the food came out quickly and was Hot and the platter was full of eats. My french fries are some of the best in SA if not the BEST. The portions were very large and very delicious. Our waitress, who had just completed her training, was so helpful and very knowledgeable. I cna believe we both cleaned our plates, so good. There are lunch specials at a good price. We WILL BE BACK.

It was not terrible, but I´m not coming back...

By Mr. V |

I don´t like to complaint about restaurants, unless they really deserve it... I was there with a few friends today which were eager to try this new location. I had never been to this chain before, so I checked their online menu which seemed great. Great on paper that is. Upon arrival the waitress was rude, had no charisma, no smile, and just made us uncomfortable! She tried to guess our order before we were done talking- as if she was in a rush and we were taking her time. She literally would not let us finish our phrases before interrupting. We were in a good mood so for the most part, we let that slide... I had the Hot Wings. They were greasy, overcooked, and the sauce was terrible. I then had a spicy burger with the pretzel bun and it was nothing out of this world. The food was a 6/10 but the service was absolutely terrible. I will not be returning.

Attractive Decor for Pub Grub

By Dennis P |

This restaurant is quite large and is attractively decorated with memorabilia filling all the wall space. The Happy Hour specials include $5.99 appetizers ae are quite good. Friendly service and reasonable prices make this a restaurant we will return to. Also has a spacious bar if you prefer dining at the bar.

Just a Case of Hiccoughs?!

By OmniEpicurean |

The third time was not quite as charming today. We had a lunch of taco salad which is a mixture of pico de gallo, iceberg and romaine lettuce, green and red pepper slivers and beef taco meat with grilled onions. You can also get guacamole and sour cream as toppers along with your choice of dressing - the chipotle ranch was good. All the above is served on a bed or corn tortilla chips. This is the second time we have the taco salad and our third visit. The salad, however, would have been good again but for the overly salty beef. It seemed the more I ate the saltier it got. By the time I was almost finished, my tongue felt burned from the salt. Glad I got a Coke to go as I will surely need it later. The folks next to us got a steak and baked potato that looked mighty good and they definitely seemed to enjoy it. Something to keep in mind when we visit again despite this hiccough in the food preparation today.

Nothing to write home about

I went in for a ribeye steak and it was so bland. I thought the server brought me the wrong draft beer and she didn't bring me the food the way I had ordered it. I asked for the string fries to be very crispy but they weren't The steak was so bland I dipped it in ketchup. Isn't that ashame to have to use ketchup to flavor your steak. Server was Joanna R.
