Great Surprise

By shadowland22000 |

Great food, Bar, dance facilities, atmosphere. Wonderful place to take guests for a wonderful evening

Very nice restaurant and ambience

By Alejandro Pereira |

Really nice place, the ambiance is very nice, music from the 40’s, even with Churchil’s speech on the toilets. The first time ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich, it was overcooked ant too much salt, not bad but not great, so decided to give it a second chance, and this time the food was really great, the beef cooked perfectly as I requested, tender and excellent in flavor, I am glad I gave it a second chance. Sometimes, one dish cannot speak for the whole restaurant, that’s why it is important to try a different dish.

Fun - good food - atmosphere

By mkbama |

This restaurant is above average food, good service, and a fun, atmosphere at the end of the runway at PDK airport. There is a nice outdoor terrace for watching the planes take off and land, and big windows if you'd rather be inside. Fun decor with lots of old photos of planes and military folks. If you have elderly veterans in your family- take them here. They'll like it. Prices are reasonable and they have a full bar and good wine too.

Special Experience

By travelwriter52 |

I took my son and his wife to eat here. I had not been there for a long time. To be honest, while it is a cool place to go, it isn't really cheap. The thing that makes it more special is that it is by an airport where you watch planes land and take off. But honestly, I like the fact that it was designed like a villa in France maybe? It just looks cool. It has old vehicles and planes outside (surprised to see that one was a replica, not real, but it did not affect the experience). Normally I go at dinner time, but this time we went at lunch. We were seated in the bar area, not sure why, may be because we had no reservations. We all had the burger because the hostess said it was their best meal. And she was right. Very good. The fries were a shade cooler than I wanted, but I liked the fact that they were fresh cut, not frozen. Price tag was a bit higher than going to a regular restuarnat, about 20.00 per person including tip. And I thought the size of the drinks were rather small, but we did get refills.

Great Buffet

By slallison03 |

Went to celebrate my birthday here. The brunch was delicious! I try my best not to go back to restaurants again and again, but this one made it back on the list. I will probably take my husband on his birthday. He's not new to the Atlanta area, but just never had time to really get out and eat at good restaurants.

Great Atmosphere, Ok food, somewhat costly

By loubob P |

We love this place but since our last visit the menu seems to be much more limited than in the past. My wife's prime rib was perfectly cooked and quite good, my Shrimp creole was nicely spiced. My friends stuffed Trout was overcooked but tasty. The service was wonderful, but all things considered I only give them three due to the high cost and limited menu. A popular spot it gets a bit noisy as well.

Good Food Good Service

By Susan B |

We enjoyed the view of the planes coming & going at PDK airport. The food was delicious, and Norma took great care of us.

Hidden Gem

By FoodPassionService |

Having lived in the Atlanta area for over a year I've visited many great restaurants and heard of more but I can't believe it's taken this long to find this one! Located alongside the runways of the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport diners are treated to jets landing and taking off and close enough on their taxiing to see right into the cockpit. As great as the view is, this French farmhouse WWII setting provides even more incredible food. We had the stuffed trout and the salmon soufflé and they were both exquisite in taste and presentation. The trout was opened so it was pan fried skin down to provide a great taste. Then it is folded back over with a shrimp and corn mixture that accentuated the flavor perfectly. I didn't even mess with the avocado salsa on the side because I didn't want to mess with the flavors. My side was the cheddar cheese grits cooked perfectly. The salmon soufflé was a beautiful piece of salmon in a light wine and butter sauce topped with a jalapeño and pecorino cheese soufflé. The jalapeño had no heat but a wonderful flavor profile with the pecorino. A side of grilled asparagus was perfectly done. We can't wait to return for their Sunday brunch or try their lounge with an awesome outdoor seating area with fire pits.

The bar's outdoor seating is great

By BirdingFreak |

Located at one end of the Peachtree DeKalb Airport runway, you have a front seat view (with sound effects!) to aircraft coming and going, The bar food is good and the drinks served quickly. If the weather is right, it's a lovely place to relax for an hour or two with friends over some beers.

Amazing Atmosphere, Great Food, Good Service

By Spock_NCC-1701 |

The service was on point, the food was great, the atmosphere was the best part of the entire meal! Just off the runway of the airport, surrounded by military memorabilia, what more could you ask for?

Date night ❤️

By pinkjellybean59 |

A great place to land for dinner. We had been at a happy hour engagement and we were hungry when we left at 5:30pm ~ and decided to go to the Dekalb Peachtree Airport restaurant the 57th Fighter Club. The Hostesses were very kind ~ gave us a great seat. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. Food was delicious, nice portions and reasonably priced. The view was amazing ~ planes ✈️ landing and taking off throughout our entire meal. Closed on Mondays but open the rest of the week for lunch and dinner ~ a great classic that is a must whether you a local or visitor to our great city ❤️

Amazing!!!

By PatriciaWWills |

Great food, service and atmosphere!!! We loved the choices of foods, The service is excellent and I am in love with the mimosas!!!

great food, cool atmosphere

By Michelle P |

Great service, interesting history on display. Amazing food. This time we went with a large group and everyone left happy. All said the food was excellent. A must for any war buff!!!!!!

Great dance place, phenomenal food. You will not regret.

By Billy B |

Great dance place, phenomenal food, you will not regret. Really great atmosphere, right next to the airport. If you go early in the evening, you will see planes land and take off, really neat thing that other restaurants can't offer. WW enthusiast will enjoy it for the ambiance, and normal people like me enjoy the food, dancing, drinks and neat bunker like place.

Beer cheese soup at a fire-pit; WWII music croons, "French farmhouse", stars, small planes...

By Linda T |

This WWII style restaurant is located next to a small but busy commuter airport. You might ask for a table with headphones so you can listen to the pilots talk to the tower while you eat. (I don't know why that's fun-- but it is!) The food is excellent and reasonably priced and you should never pass up the beer-cheese soup, trust me! Much is said about the buffet brunch and it is very good, but I'd rather go when it's quiet and loaded with memories and memorabilia. And where else can you go to listen to Sir Winston Churchill speak in the bathroom?

Fun place, good food

By 58DavidAthens |

Were there with a group of 12 to celebrate a birthday. The servers never acted put out about dealing with a group and separate checks. They did a great job. We sat on the patio -- the fans and misters were wonderful. A very nice stuffed trout dish and a very good pork tenderloin were enjoyed. Good dance floor with room to dance.

A Unique Place That Naturally Engenders Fun

By bbails |

OK, I admit, I don't go out that much, so maybe a good DJ and lots of people dancing, talking, eating and watching planes take off and land is more routine for some people. If you've never been to the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant, you're in for a few surprises. There's nothing remarkable about the menu, but the setting, design and energy at the place is a unique combination. On the edge of the flight lines for the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport, where everything from biplanes to private jets take off and land a few yards away, the energy is non-stop. The entrance to the restaurant/bar itself is designed to look like an old, bombed-out farmhouse somewhere in Europe during WW II, complete with broken brick walls and sandbagged bunkers. But inside, there's a large dance floor, wood tables, and an ample bar. Outside, there is a welcoming dining area. On this Saturday evening, a diverse crowd of couples of all ages moved to the beat on the dance floor. Everyone was enjoying the music and munching on tasty dishes like fried shrimp, ample burgers and fish and chips. A great casual evening.

Awe inspiring atmosphere

By Georgiamum |

The WWII memorabilia and atmosphere is awe inspiring. The staff is very attentive. The menu is modest but good. And, an intimate dance floor with a DJ on Friday and Saturday.

WOW

By lgparson |

Food is great. Arial stuff to look at. Dinner is Pricey $$$ but worth the money. Dress appropriate. Tip well. Staff is very professional. Recommend over and over

Great Place For a Party

By Caramia S |

For the past 45 years my high school has held a reunion of some sort every 5 years. We also had one for our 50th and 60th birthdays. The ones we’ve had at the 57th Fighter Group have been the most fun. We had our 45th last night and it was a blast. The bar and dance area is a good size and it is interesting to have the other folks who are there for the music and dancing to become part of the reunion. The bar staff are really great! Very efficient, handle the crowds well, friendly and fun. I have no idea what the restaurant is like. The bar menu is good, good selection of beer, wine and s full bar. Dance, dance, dance!

Excellent chef who had his own restaurant in Virginia Highlands years ago.

By Richard S |

Greg Herndon is one of the unsung chefs in Atlanta. His crawfish etouffee, fried chicken and fried oysters (you have to request them in advance) are as good as any in the city (well, Serpa's does a great job on the fried oysters. If you like airplanes and enjoy watching them land and take off while you are enjoying fried shrimp appetizer and lacquered duck or prime rib, what better place?

Favorite place to celebrate my birthday.

By Maps29092756413 |

I LOVE everything about this place, ambience, food, cocktails, staff. I discovered this gem of a restaurant in 1985 and 30 plus years, its still a top choice to dine. Now our daughter and son-in-law name it as a favorite as well.

I ate there many time real fun place and just love the food too.

By PastorLenora W |

I really enjoyed the atmosphere, there and love the food too, how you can pick what you would like to eat. Also different serving stand area, which was real cool.

Such a cool place! Vintage setting, great food

By Paula9122008 |

This is such a great place to visit. I took my husband here for our anniversary. Vintage setting with plenty of WWII memorabilia...the food was good. Sat lunch is limited but we will return to try brunch or the full dinner menu. Rest is located at PDK airstrip so you get to watch biplanes and small aircraft take off and land

Nice food.

By R0bertp558 |

went to this restaurant twice with my wife. First time sat in bar area and had a phenomenal chicken sandwich. Second time sat in restaurant area and had a filet mignon which also exceeded expectations. Interesting place to go to. Has a johnny's hideway type vibe to the dancing area.

Cool place to dine outside

By Michelle B |

My friends just at this restaurant as it was a cool place to watch planes land and take off. I was told it was a nice restaurant so that I should dress smart casual however because we ate outside it was actually much more casual than I expected. While I love the theme of the restaurant and being able to be closer to the planes I felt as though we were missing some of the character and charm of the restaurant by eating outside. The chairs were also uncomfortable but that's a different story. We shared the red pepper hummus appetizer and it was good but not great. I got the salmon soufflé because it sounded so interesting I just couldn't pass it up however when it arrived on the table it was simply a piece of salmon that had an interesting cheesy frothy like topping to it. The salmon was great but it wasn't quite what I was expecting and I was a little bit disappointed as I was looking for something truly unique when in fact what I got was something a little bit more ordinary but again it was good. One of my friends got the barbecue chicken and said it was excellent another got the stuff to rainbow trout and my third friend got the same dish I did which was the salmon soufflé . her's was very under cooked though and she chose not to say anything about it and simply not eat it. Overall a very good night it was very good food but not excellent.

Simply The Best!

By 411PamelaT |

One of the best restaurants in Atlanta, we drive up from Savannah, and we are so glad they are still around. Have been dining there since 1985. Amazing ambiance as well as the BEST steaks.

Sunday Brunch

By Nikki0715 |

We decided to try the Sunday Brunch. The made to order Omelette/ egg station was excellent. The Assorted breads and bagels were straight out of Costco's shelves. No real butter provided. Sausage and bacon were overcooked. Home Fries and grits were cold. The carved beef roast was cooked nicely, but the piece my husband got was tough. The Seasonal vegetables were overcooked and soggy. The Cheese presentation was nice. Overall it didn't wow me. I kept walking along the whole brunch and nothing really caught my attention. I doubt I will be back. Our server was very friendly and attentive.

No brunch to munch

By carole m |

Went with family for brunch and will not go back. Very warm, bearly any air conditioning. Very poor service. Our waitress was indoors and outdoors and on the other end of restaurant. Even though it is a buffet we were charged 18% for the tip it was added into bill. Not my way to tip. Mostly we tip 20% on full service. Not overly excited about food in buffet. Standard fare, but most of service dishes were either picked over or empty. Found a hair in the horseradish sauce. Will not be going back.

Bi-Wing Buffet

By Jerry L |

Our family recently enjoyed their Thanksgiving Buffet. And even though it wasn't really served off bi-wing stations, there was a bi-plane parked just outside the restaurant. The various food choices on the buffet were very good and designed to serve a variety of appetites. Our party of 7 included 3 children, and everyone found plenty to eat to their liking. I found the guacamole chicken salad especially tasty, and everyone loved the chocolate mousse dessert. Even though the restaurant was packed with customers in the late afternoon, our server was tired from the full day but extremely gracious. Dinner was an overall nice experience in a unique atmosphere.

Plane Lovers Paradise

By Randyltodd |

I have enjoyed this restaurant many times, as well as the sister restaurant in Miami. The food is great, and I love the French military décor. I love airplanes and I love food so this is a great place for me. You must try the beer cheese soup...it is awesome. I love using the headphones to listen to the airplanes nearby. Great family experience and good food at this theme restaurant. Highly Recommended.

Dancing.

By Rebecca G |

I visit this restaurant frequently. Friends meet there regularly. We have fun dancing, eating and generally enjoying ourselves. I love the setting next to an airport runway. The wait staff is always attentive. Food is good.

Love the ambience!!!!

By 242LisaB |

Our waitress in the bar area was so much fun and absolutely adorable. She had blue flowers in her hair... We wanted her to be our new best friend. Our waitress at our table was great and when the food was served and the restaurant was busy several other staff helped serve us which was great. The food is heavily seasoned which I like. The meat was very good as were the sides. Several people at our table got different soups and they were delicious. Seth, one of the chefs, helped us out tremendously with Celiac and gluten-free items. His father is Celiac so he was very familiar with suggestions on what to order. It's a bit pricey but again, think long dinner with good friends sitting next to a runway. And of course, any of these flight squadrons restaurants are so fun just to look at all the decorations and photos around the place. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

finally a place no one was disappointed with!

By laura |

We have had some MISSES lately! This one was a win for all 6 people! Cool and different atmosphere, the food was terrific and our server was outstanding. I wish I could remember her name. Will definitely be back!

So disappointed

By Kisi I |

Nothing to say about the service, friendly waiters. But the food was a joke. Ordered a spinach salad and it literally arrived as just spinach! I was supposed to have some strawberries, goat cheese etc on it, I literally paid to eat spinach. I don’t know how they are not ashamed to serve it like that.

Sunday Brunch with family

By Kay R |

This restaurant provided a unique experience. It is situated right next to the taxiway of the Peachtree DeKalb Airport (PDK). You can watch the planes taxi by and take off while having your meal, a real treat for kids and adults alike. They have a regular menu most days. However, we were there for Sunday brunch which has only one item on the menu, a buffet. They have so much to choose from that if you prefer breakfast or lunch, there is enough for to select from that you will not go away hungry. I promise. You can even check out the menu online.

Fantastic Surprise

By Traci P |

What a great place! Tucked off road and packed with WWII memorabilia, the ambiance was spectacular! Overlooking the tarmac of PDK, there was always something new to tickle your eyes when your taste buds were resting. Taste buds...the Sunday brunch was very good and the wait staff was very knowledge, courteous, and seemed to enjoy beeing there. Great place to dine and people watch.

Group luncheon

By pack4054 |

Had lunch with a group of 20. The service was very good. Portions were generous. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. The ww2 atmosphere and airport greatly enhanced the dining experience. A restaurant I highly recommend

Reservation not honored!

By Teresa |

We were on vacation from NJ to ATL for Christmas. Made a reservation to dine at 57th fighter for December 26th at 7pm to show up to a completely deserted building! A note on door says, "Sorry we are closed, return on Tuesday". We got no call, no email. Absolutely pissed because then did we not only get to dine with a view where we were hoping but did not know the area too well to even find another place different that we can't eat at home. So, Longhorn it was sadly!!!! My son has waited months for this to just be disappointed. Great job.

Great Place for Aviation Enthusiasts

By MarcoPolodiNuovaYork |

The food is great. Have had the Beer and Cheese soup -reminiscent of a bisque and the cut of beef that is like a Skirt Steak and really good. Was well prepared. Tuesday night we had a DJ and played a trivia game. The restaurant is right on the apron of DeKalb Airport with lots of aircraft activity. We have been there twice while visiting daughter in Atlanta.

Nice Ambience

By bonick75 |

I visited this restaurant with a large group. We were very efficiently taken care of and they allowed us to have separate checks. It was fun to be able to see the planes taking off and landing while we were eating. The only disappointment was the food. I had the 57th Airborne Sandwich which was basically a Philly steak-type sandwich. The meat was very dry even after pouring the au jus sauce on it.

An olde worldly experience

By RichardBejah |

We had 10 of us visiting this unusual restaurant themed as a bar and restaurant from WWII. The service guy was a bit quirky but food was pretty good. Certainly a different location as was situated right by the Peachtree DeKalb airport so we were able to see planes and helicopters landing and taking off. Definately recommend for the experience.

Great Reunion!

By mikedI7273IN |

On 6-27 I attended a reunion at the 57th of over 20 former associates and good friends form a previous professional life. Everything was excellent, from the service (Tommy) to the appetizers to the beer and wine selections. We'll no doubt be back for our next reunion!

Excellent food and awesome ambience!

By Sharon D Bell |

I worked here years ago and it is still one of my favorite places on the planet to eat! The whole vibe is just outstanding.

Used to be better!

By Robin1104 |

The food is a little above average, but not much. Considering the prices, I prefer dining elsewhere. While in years past this was a really good upscale restaurant overlooking the runway at DeKalb Peachtree Airport, it just isn't what it used to be now!

Unique Hidden Gem in Atl.

By robert t |

Go for the planes, go for the atmosphere and go for the food. It is a great place for dates night, kids and lunch. The decor is second to none and Churchill playing over the speakers as you enter is cool.

Best duck around!

By sherrymarie |

57th Fighter Squadron long known for their brunch on Sunday's is also good for dinner. Have been to multiple restaurants in Atlanta and other cities and they have the best honey lacquered duck around. Second to none. My other favorite is their new trout dish and their cheese grits and mashed potatoes. Food never a disappointment and will love these dishes

Different

By JoAnn D |

Excellent food and great atmosphere. Service was a tad slow, but gave it a bad day because it was a little busy. Will be back at some point. Very friendly staff.

C'mon 57th you are better than this!

By Harrydawgsdad |

It pains me to be critical as this has been one of my favorite places since I was a kid in the '80's. I have dined from the menu, bellied up to the bar and enjoyed the Sunday brunch many times over the years. Our last visit was for brunch and at first I noticed that the crowds were a little thinner. As we walked through the buffet area I noticed that many favorites were missing like Eggs Benedict and smoked salmon, even the carving station looked a little sparse, but the food that was available was tasty. I was even more disappointed in the service. Even though I thought I recognized the owner sitting in our section, I could openly hear the server complaining to the hostess that they were over seated. While servers patrolled the room, our glasses and cups sat empty and plates were stacked on a corner of the table awaiting attention. We all have off days. I hope this was an anomaly as I have so many fond memories of this place from over the years. It wasn't that it was bad, but it was definitely average.

Awesome food, cool setting

By jenned17 |

Went with family to celebrate my birthday and the 57th Fighter Group was so much fun. Cool vibe, awesome setting overlooking planes & helicopters taking off and landing, solid menu and food and wait staff. The filet was perfectly cooked. The spinach artichoke dip was yummy, heard great things about the beer cheese soup and the chef’s special, a Cajun shrimp pasta Alfredo. Will definitely return to enjoy the patio and maybe take to the dance floor. Fun time!

A required stop for all Pilots

By Larry R |

As you turn onto the gravel driveway, you notice some wrecked, rusted WWII Military vehicles, then a Guard Shack complete with stop bar. Round the corner and you'll spot something that looks like it might be a French farm house, except for the barbed wire, the bomb debris, and yes the P51 Mustang parked at the front door. Beautiful decorated dining area and Officers Club like bar. Sit in one of the special booths that have headphones so you can listen to the tower and aircraft communicating. The 57th is located on a very busy general aviation airport. I try to visit every time I visit Atlanta. Closed Mondays

A simply wonderful place to dine.....

By Nancy L |

Be sure and try the Champagne Sunday Brunch! That was my gift to my husband for our Anniversary, and now he can't wait to go back :)

great food

By Donna M |

i ate here a long time ago and it was excellent food then they closed for remodeling now i cant wait to try them again

A step Back in Time

By thebagel60 |

One of my friends treated mom and I to the 57th. The food and service were exceptional. The only disappointment was that because we arrived for an early dinner, we were not allowed in the dinning room closest to the airport. Otherwise, a good experience.

Unique for sure

By aTriguy |

Overall a solid spot. I have had lunch there a couple of times and enjoyed it. Good value and our service was prompt and friendly

Sunday Brunch

By Ramz1989 |

What a fun atmosphere and an awesome brunch buffet! These was such a big variety of food; cheeses, fruit, breakfast foods, waffle station, omelet station, salad bar, cold salads, meat dishes, carving station, desserts, etc! If you leave hungry, then you must be a picky eater. The serving staff was quick to fill your coffee or drinks and clear you plate so you can head up and get another. Our table was along the window with a great view of the airport runway.

Great Restaurant Grounds, but Standard Food

By JM Travels |

This restaurant contains a nice scenic ground both inside and out. This restaurant is ideal for large groups (of people) since they provide large tables. Even though the restaurant is nice, I did not enjoy the food. My group dined here during brunch, but they have a very limited selection. I found that my plate contained mostly salad and bread. The breakfast waffles are tasty, but I can get the same quality in most Atlanta restaurants. As I ate, I enjoyed watching the small planes landing and taking off. I wouldn't visit this restaurant again unless I went with a "plane lover". I like to leave restaurants with my taste appetite full...and not my sight appetite.

Nice place with good service

By Daneisha S |

Went to this restaurant for my father in law's birthday and it was pretty good, can't complain. I've gone a few times for the Sunday brunch and it was good. I've never had the regular menu food so I can't give too much of an opinion on that but I would assume the quality is about the same.

Nice dog friendly patio

By littlerocky5 |

Shrimp creole is excellent and prime rib very good too. Fun to watch the jets and happy to find a pet friendly patio. We'll be back!

Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Dancing

By veggiegirl60 |

We visited with a group for dinner on Saturday evening. The menu selection was wonderful, and everyone enjoyed their selections. Friendly service. We stayed to dance, and had the best time !

Fun place for dinner and dancing

By georgiagirl120 |

We visited with a group of friends and had a lot of fun. The food and the service was top notch, and the dj played a wide variety of songs that were fun to dance to. The restaurant has interesting WWII military decor in the restaurant and a bar and grill atmosphere around the dance floor. The crowd was a mix of young and old, and a number of people were there celebrating special events, which added to the fun atmosphere.

Go once for the experience, go back for the food and drinks.

By cowbulls |

We went to this restaurant as part of a couple's group for dinner. The decor celebrates the historic 57th fighter squadron of World War II. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We made a reservation and our table was ready when promised. We started our dinner with wine and lagers. They were all very good. For appetizers, we had the beet salad, and the crab, spinach, & artichoke dip. The dip was very flavorful, but very small for the $17 price. We had to order a second one. For or main courses, we had the crab cakes, vegetable pasta with chicken, and the short ribs. As one of the sides, the beer cheese soup was as wonderful as I remembered from the old Baby Doe's Matchless Mine days. It's wonderful that despite having a huge draw, 57th Fighter Group Restaurant delivers such a worthwhile dining experience.

Bring your appetite!

By Rick A |

Visiting on Easter our friends took us out to brunch at this very eclectic restaurant, from Winston Churchill addressing you in the men’s room, to World War Two newspaper wallpaper, to a very active small prop and Lear jet runway to a biplane landing and parking practically in your lap! Needless to say it has quite the atmosphere! The food selections were amazing and constantly being refilled. You had breakfast selections, lunch selections, and dinner choices. From bacon and eggs to luncheon meats to hand carved ham and roast beef. With multiple choices for sides from bread to pastries to multiple types of salads. And it was eat all you could:-) Oh, did I mention desserts. Pastries, pies, cupcakes and ice cream with assorted toppings. K and I chose the bananas foster and although I missed the flaming fire touch, the bananas and sauce were delicious especially topped with ice cream. Better make your reservations because the place was packed and there were people waiting.

Great themed restaurant

By Samuel D |

Dined here after a visit to the Atlanta Symphony. The decor is very nice, it is themed after a WWII French country house. Large windows gave a view out to PDK airport which married well with the decor and theme. The good was good, not particularly memorable our unique, but good quality and tasty.

A mere shell of the brunch they used to offer

By 20CreekFarm |

First of all, the service was terrible. Even though it was the supposedly popular Sunday brunch, the restaurant wasn’t overrun with patrons, yet they still seemed short staffed. We had to continually ask for coffee refills, flagging down our server each time. When they finally brought coffee, they didn’t bring extra cream, so we had to wait for that while our coffee became cold. My biggest disappointment with the buffet brunch was what was described on their online menu as a “smoked salmon presentation.” What would you normally think this would be? Slices of smoked salmon, cream cheese, bagels, toppings like capers and onions. Well, this was FAR from the reality. Apparently, the chef decided a presentation of smoked salmon would be questionable salmon mouse on soggy tortilla chips. That was it. The dessert selections were very limited and rather tasteless. The only really good thing about the experience was the peel and eat shrimp was well cooked and had a good cocktail sauce on the side. For $30 pp,

Fun on Fridays

By Ash L |

They have a DJ on Fridays at 8. Fun to go and dance, have a drink, etc. Cute spot. I recommend the fried shrimp appetizer and the bunker salad (small).

Love this place...

By Ryan F |

You don't have old school "theme" restaurants like this anymore. The dance floor is great and the view of the planes taking off. It is a hidden, Atlanta gem. The food and drinks are great. Where else can you see people shagging these days? It's just fun. It's not glitzy and there isn't a celebrity chef, but that isn't what makes a great place in my opinion. Very old school Atlanta.

57th is a fine choice

By James L |

Decent food, excellent service, ok pricing. Try the entrees they prepare on the Big Green Egg. I had the Prime and Wife had the chicken

Awful service

By lilak |

The service was awful. We were there to celebrate my friend Ellen's 70th birthday. The waiter complained about everything from coming to the table to take drink orders, to timely dinner orders to bill payment. Finally asking our group to just add cash rather than him organizing the bills (the group was about 15 and the restaurant appeared unable to handle it). When I mentioned to the manager, Mr. Chris Munsey that the wait service was poor, he stated that he was disappointed to have us there and went on to complain to me. In actuality I felt that the establishment was racist. I am a professor of neurology at a nearby medical school and often attend much larger events than this and have never experienced a restaurant that was unable to manage and even suggested that we all just add cash to a pile - as if noone uses cards. It is sad that they are in business as a restaurant, but yet have no ability to manage bills for a large number of people. Some of my other groups meet at Atlanta area restaurants with 50 persons all with separate tabs and have no problems managing and without such a sour attitude. I really deserve a refund! Had it not been for my friend's birthday I would have left when the waiter couldn't manage my initial drink order without negative commentary.

Better Than Average

By TombRaider55 |

We visited on a Sunday evening. We were seated promptly with a view overlooking a runway at Peachtree Dekalb Airport. The service was excellent. I especially need to commend the server Nicholas who was prompt, accurate, courteous, and very busy waiting the tables in our area. We ordered the filet mignon which was prepared well and finished with a tawny port demi-glace. We also had an appetizer of fried shrimp that was also very good. I had a Caesar salad that was good and a side dish of cremini mushrooms. All good.

I love this place !!!

By Bob P |

The 57th is my favorite place to have dinner and then dance the night away. The staff is very friendly and the food is wonderful. There is a nice dance area and great DJ, Come join us and have loads of fun with some really nice people.

Great Sunday Brunch and great atmosphere

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The décor atmosphere were really nice. Lots of airplane memorabilia, and you get to watch planes take off and come in while you eat. So its just a really neat, cool place. And the Sunday brunch was awesome. Pastries, eggs, salmon, cheeses, etc. Too many things to mention. Everyone should find something they like on the buffet. I recommend it. We really enjoyed and will go back.

Much improved over the old days

By RoadWearier |

I've been here occasionally in years gone by, but have visited twice in the past month, and must say, the food has improved markedly under what I assume is new kitchen management. My favorites are the real gulf shrimp, and perfectly seasoned (and not at all salty) collared greens. Main drawback is that it can be quite loud. Therefore, go at an off-peak time, unless you love noise. Or opt for the outdoor patio instead of the inside.

Best Buffet At PDK Airport.

By Michael V |

The ambience here is amazing - an old bunker style arrangement with jeeps, planes, etc. This is a hidden gem - you can see the airport runways when enjoying your meal. They only offer the buffet weekdays in the month of December. We were greeted upon arrival. The server Ann Marie was very nice and on her game. I was there for a business lunch. I had the buffet (that was just put out when we arrived) at 11 am, it was fresh, the food was hot with a large variety of food. The salad was fresh and offered all the trimmings, also bread, soup, a cheese and meat display, vegetables, dessert and four entrees. I had the salad and the vegetables and the dessert - a lemon pie. I am a vegetarian. The cost was $ 18.00 for lunch plus the drink price. They also offer a great Sunday Brunch. I will be back here - don't miss this December dining experience.

My family and I have been going for the past couple years for brunch, Really like the ambience, great atmosphere and my grandbabies love seeing the planes land and takeoff. Unfortunately we noticed every time we do go for brunch the food is never warm, it’s seem as though the warmers that they use for the food is not turned up enough. My husband and I have referred this place tio a couple of friends of ours and their reviews were just the same that the food would just never warm enough, called the manager Chris brought it to his attention and I felt more like he was just blowing me off. I might have to revisit if I want to go back there again for brunch.

Wed dance night

By CoolBrewster |

I used to live in Atlanta over 10 years ago but haven’t been to the 57th in over 25 years. Still pretty much the same. Ambiance is meant to be reminiscent of the World War II era and has lots of vintage vehicles and a P-52 mustang as you approach the entrance. Plenty of parking and handicapped spaces. We went primarily to join dance friends as on Wed nights, they have a DJ who will play everything from Big Band and ballroom dance music along with Swing, Disco, and Latin. The food was OK, but the waiter was prompt and helpful. For us, it was mostly about the dancing and the floor is relatively big and soft and separate from the eating area so no food nor drink spilled on it. Great for dancing.

Mom and Son time

Great place to spend quiet time with my son who is in ROTC. Great view of the runway,we saw many planes. Fair prices for large portions of good food. WWII decor theme. Had great time with my boys.

Yummy Brunch

By Mike G |

Was there for brunch on a Sunday and everything I ate was very good. The prime rib to the eggs benedict were so tasty I ended up eating to much. The desserts they offer are great. The atmosphere is amazing also from the bunker like setting as you enter to the planes taking off right next to your table is a lot of fun.

Great Ambiance, watch the planes by the fire

By Therese B |

One of a kind restaurant. So unique! Lovely restaurant with outdoor seating and fire pits. Dance floor was a fun area. 4 stars because Service was just ok. Food was mediocre for the price. Nothing really stood out. $110. For 3

Unbelievable atmosphere, food, and service! Don't miss this place

By GGM |

One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta! The atmosphere, the service, and food is amazing! You've got to come check out the incredible decor at this place. It's just like going back in time. Love the old 40s music playing. And the bar with big dance floor is definitely a place I want to come back to. They also have a large outdoor area that will be great in the warm weather. My fave has been for years, the Beer Cheese Soup...to die for!!! Our server, Quincy, was wonderful! Very personable and lots of fun. You must check this place out!! Oh! Almost, forgot, the restaurant is on the runway so you can see the planes take off and land.

Great Dinner with Great Service

By Ck_Nest |

We went to this restaurant for a couples dinner. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The décor is WWII historical. We stayed at a table outside due to the great weather. The food was simple but fantastic. We had the 57 sandwiches with sides. The beef on the sandwich was cooked to perfection. Very moist but not dripping. I’d recommend this for couples wanting a good evening. Nikki was our server and she was on top of everything!

Love this place!

By Celine B |

We love to dine outside on a pleasant evening and watch the planes taking off and landing. Everyone has always been so friendly and nice -- the hostess, servers and management, as well as fellow diners. The shrimp Creole is outstanding! On Friday and Saturday nights you're treated to a spectacular dance party. Go get on the floor!

nOT WORTH THE THIRTY BUCKS THEY CHARGE.

By Mike G |

Variety was good but a lot of the selections were very poor in my opinion. at the carving station the beef was rare after I got it back to the table you couldn't even chew it and the other three at our table agreed. Went back for the roast and it was good nothing special but good. I went to the carving station twice and never saw the ham must of been out of it even though we were there early. The egg station was good but eggs benedict. The cold salads were good and that's a positive because just a couple of hot veggies. The peel and eat shrimp were very mushy not good at all. Thank goodness for the banana foster and omelets or I would of given this place a poor rating.

Sunday brunch

By Jonathan C |

Oh yeah. The entrees are excellent, the soups are fabulous, and the desserts are yummy and in small portions, thankfully after such a bug brunch. Also, watching the planes come and go is quite pleasant.

Disappointing Bizzare Dining Experience

By Francine |

I went with a group of people on a Wednesday night. I ordered the steak salad and specified "no black pepper and no bleu cheese". The salad came out looking good with the steak sitting on top, however when I cut into a piece, it had pepper on it, so I returned it. The next salad came out and the steak was good without pepper, however, when I dug into the salad, it had bleu cheese in it, so I asked for it to be sent back again. The Manager, "Gaye" told me that she would not take it back again and she just would not charge me for the salad. She said "nothing is going to please you". I told her "if you make a salad without the black pepper and without the bleu cheese" then I will be pleased. I tried to order another salad from the waitress, but she said that the Manager told her that she could not serve me. HOW BIZARRE. Here I am at a restaurant for dinner going home hungry! Everyone else in my group had eaten and I was not driving, so I could not leave to go get something to eat elsewhere. She gave me the number of the Owner, Mr. Epps who I left a message with 4 days ago and have not heard back. I couldn't believe that a restaurant would treat a customer that way.

Step back in time.

By Debbie S |

What a step back in time. Great atmosphere and best steak ever! It was quite enjoyable watching the planes take off. Enjoyed seeing the old army vehicles. Easy access.

Horrible manager; Chris

By Tammie C |

Bad restaurant management warning! We love the food and atmosphere at the 57th fighter group, but there's a manager there by the name of Chris, who is absolutely horrid. I've been going to the 57th for over 20 years and eating there at least 1 to 2 times a week with mom. I have had multiple celebrations and parties there, been a part of a dance group on Wednesday nights and I used to bring multiple friends with me, but that all stopped today. This rude manager "Chris" made yet another experience absolutely miserable. We had a second run in with him tonight. The server said that it might cost a little bit more for a full side if mashed potatoes, but never disclosed a price. When the check arrived, they charged DOUBLE (big difference). Chris had a horrible attitude when asked why and he was a complete ass. Just like before, he was showing out in front of his staff. Mom orders her salmon cooked medium to MW each time we go, it came out raw in the middle (see photos). There have been several times over the year where they did not cook it to the correct temperature and they needed to cook it up, so it's not raw in the middle. This manager Chris made a huge production out of this in front of many guest and had the nerve to say we were costing the restaurant money and that we were a problem by returning it to have it cooked up. Mom waited over 20 minutes for a re-cook instead of cooking it up. My food was getting cold, so I ate without her. No options were offered to her while she waited. Needless to say her appetite was lost with all the drama & by the time it was finally delivered, but they promptly presented her with a full bill. No apology, just horribly bad attitude from Chris! The server was apologizing for the way that manager acted and showed me where he had noted "medium" on his order (see photo). Be warned if you go there! They always deliver the salads with the meal, even if you ask specifically for it to be delivered beforehand, and they clearly do not handle it well if they make a mistake. Apparently the owners value an obnoxious & rude manager over long term customers who consistently brought them new business. SMH! Atlanta has far too many options to put up with this kind of crap!

Christmas Gathering with the Girls

By GrandTe |

Absolutely enjoyed the view, the decor, and the ambience. The setting took on a mental excursion that reminded me to appreciate the service of the men and women that scarified their life's and the luxuries of common everyday living. But, I was so looking forward to the signature Beer Cheese Soup, it was a little strong for my taste.

Not my best experience here.

By Stephanie B |

I've been to the 57th Fighter Group a few times, all for brunch. This time we went on a Saturday & were a little sad that they weren't serving brunch (only on Sundays). We had to wait to be seated even though there were lots of spaces available, not long, but enough for us to question the wait. Our server was mediocre, but a lady who I assume is the manager jumped in as well as another server to help. The food was delicious, as always. We shared the spinach & artichoke dip with crab & we both had the shrimp creole which was cooked perfectly, but could have used a slice of crusty bread with it. All in all, I thought it was good, but not necessarily as good as the price tag. However, I WILL be back, but for brunch! I still love this restaurant!

Great History and Views with Mixed Food Quality

By William V |

The World War II vets are mostly gone now, but this gives you some feel for those critical days in our history. It is also interesting to watch the executive jets departing-you can track the destinations and aircraft on flightaware.com. The prime rib and steak dishes are very good. Other entrees are more more mixed. The beer cheese soup is worth trying. But 57th is not just for the cuisine, but the overall ambiance.

Nice spot

By livelife h |

Nice apmostphere easy to make reservations they accommodated my request to be by the window. The food was good and the service was nice. They also have a dance floor and bar

Sunday Brunch

By ddmullis |

The good: Decent buffet with carving station, made to order omelettes, fresh pastries, bananas foster and waffles The bad: the wait is 60 to 90 minutes without reservations unless you sit at the bar The ugly: the price which is 27.95 plus tip. I find this to be very pricey

The only reason I recommend

By Diana P |

The only reason I recommend is for the atmosphere & maybe drinks if you like that sort of thing but not for the food! We were traveling the area, considering relocating we were looking for restaurants to try & this popped up w great reviews! Well, the atmosphere was very nice & watching the planes was fun, however I ordered a burger which smelled bad. I had 2 bites & couldn’t stomach it. My other half ordered the black & blue salad & half the steak was pure fat. He tried a bite of my burger & he couldn’t get past the rotten smell either. I ate the fries, we paid our $40+ tip bill & left. I don’t bother to complain about food in restaurants bc it’s not like Im going to order anything else & risk it. However, I was disappointed to say the least bc the reviews were so positive! We won’t be back sorry!

Not So Good

By TombRaider55 |

I haven't been reviewing restaurants much since the pandemic; after all the food service industry is hurting. I do try to support my favorite restaurants though. Unfortunately my last two visits to the 57th have not been good. This trip was especially a downer. Despite the server just hanging out at the hostess station with very few customers, after 15 minutes I had to go get him to take the order. As with the last two visits, my order for a call brand of liquor didn't taste right ... that's just an extra dry martini by the way. Their fried shrimp appetizer is still good. The side Caesar salad was adequate with fresh romaine, but practically no dressing. The filet wasn't great and the 57th Steak Sauce was terrible. It tasted like chicken broth, grease and peppers. I think that I'm going to have to scratch this one off of my list for a while.

You have to see the P51 Mustang in front of the restaurant

By RandyMartin |

This was my first visit to Atlanta. Some friends in Atlanta recommended the visit. The restaurant has vintage World War 2 memorabilia on the walls, such as issues of the Stars and Stripes military newspaper. And outside the restaurant was the P51 Mustang and World War 2 vehicles. And, there is also a fake security guard hut. There were 5 of us in my group. Three of us had the salmon. Highly recommend it. And the side dish of mixed vegetables was good.

Fun and very Interesting restaurant filled with war memorabilia BUT...

By Carole G |

We were really intrigued by this restaurant with all it has to offer beyond what was on the menu. There was a wonderful view of planes coming and going and so much related to that activity. But I was disappointed with the food. My Bloody Mary was just fair being a bit watery and no spice. The salad was quite good but the beer cheese soup that I was looking forward to was barely lukewarm. Okay. I can get beyond that. Then the salmon arrived and after the first bite it didn't seem quite up to par. Tried the second bite and I couldn't go any further. Something was wrong with it. Salmon is always my "go to" when dining out and something I prepare myself but this was obviously subpar. They took if back and we were not charged. I was not offered to see the menu to order something else which I would have done and paid for but the server was no where to be seen. I left feeling disappointed and hungry....and we will no return.

Excellent service, perfect location, and the prime rib melts in your mouth.

By Tonia L |

I have been looking for a place that serves good prime rib. I finally found it!!You can watch the planes take off and land while dining. I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. I will be back soon.

Sunday Brunch - tasty

By SDP40 |

We were looking for a carvery/brunch and having read the reviews went here with mixed expectations, but we need not have worried. On arrival it was very busy - we had made a booking for 1pm and had to wait about 5 mins after to be seated but that was fine. Highly recommend booking, especially if you want to be seated in the dining area otherwise you could be waiting quite a while and seated on the dance floor which is not as charming. There were lots of options to eat - plenty of salads and accompaniments. Hot and cold options, cheeses, hams, breads, omelettes etc as well as ham and beef at the carving station. Eat your full. The $1 mimosas were not the strongest in the world but very pleasant and what can you expect for $1. Plenty of dessert options but highly recommend the banana foster - delicious. The coffee was strange - pre-made, milky with sugar and no hot black tea available only 'designer' flavoured ones, a minor inconvenience. Everything we ate was tasty, fresh and plentiful. A good achievement for a buffet lunch.

OMG what an awesome place

By aaron |

So, this place is literally deep in the woods. You drive by some WWII vehicles. Place is surrounded by WWII vehicles. Walk through a bunker to get in. Amazing view of planes taking off and landing while you eat. I will be back!! Next time during the day, so I can look at all the vehicles. Also, everyone is friendly there!!

Great salmon soufflé

By DougWagner |

Great atmosphere, food was delicious, the waiter was friendly (Jason) and knowledgeable about the menu and beer selection. Jets and planes flying in and out during dinner. Well worth the stop.

Entertaining and Fun

By Rebecca G |

I frequently meet friends here. The location can't be beat. The outdoor patio looks put on the Peachtree DeKalb airport runways. Service excellent food very good.

Great Brunch and wonderful service

By Laurie K |

We were there for a surprise birthday party and the brunch was wonderful, no worries about having to choose off a menu and it was loaded with all kinds of options from everything from fruits, vegetables to meats to salads to desserts and breakfast options. The beef tenderloin was my favorite and the tossed salad with cold shrimp was wonderful as well. I did have fruit for dessert but the other desserts looked great as well. Everyone enjoyed and it was great watching the planes land and take off.

Step back into a WWII French Farmhouse.

By Tom_PGR |

I had been here in many years when a friend suggested we try the Holiday lunch buffet. So 4 of us went to visit a friend in hospital and then here for lunch. I love the exterior giving a feel of WWII French airfield. And the location next to Peachtree Dekalb Airport is a plus. The food on the buffet was excellent, we had a baked chicken a baked fish, also braised beef and sliders. Fresh salad bar with many choices and many dressings also with 2 pasta salads , chicken and tuna. A wide selection of fresh fruits and key lime and pecan pie. All was wonderful. From the hostess who seated us to the bartender who showed us around the place to our server Richard all were excellent. They have a place of honor for all WWII veterans who have visited to write there name on the fireplace mantle and then send a pic if they wish of their WWII service and they are posted on the wall. (see Pic) Plan some time to sit and eat and watch the planes land and take off from the active runway that is only 500 feet away. You can even put on some old style headphones and listen to the tower radio traffic.

Terrible Terrible Terrible

By God King C |

Food was very bland and overpriced. Also, didn't appreciate sitting at a table first 6 when I made reservations for 2. As an man of color, I was highly offended by the unprofessional Caucasians who felt the need to keep bringing up Gucci mane every time he looked in my direction. I don't recommend this restaurant for anyone who has class about themselves!!!!

Great Food, Drinks and Service - The Location Isn't Bad Either !

By Terry S |

Didn't have a clue of what to expect when we were told that the biplane flight over Atlanta was departing from this restaurant - but boy oh boy we're sure glad we didn't just arrive, take the flight and ;leave straight, after as that would have denied us some of the best food we tasted while we were in Georgia. I can, hand on heart, say that if I was to live in Atlanta, then this would become my regular eating and drinking spot and I'd take cabs or even the bus out there to experience the level of friendliness and service we had that day and thank you all again for making it memorable

Sunday Brunch and All you can eat

By handsmoffcr |

We were going on the Bi-Plane experience just outside on Patio when we got there a little early, so we decided to walk through the Buffett and see how it looked. Reasonable price and great selection. We would definitely recommend it, not just because of the food but the atmosphere and the environment you enjoy it in. My nephew whom loves the military and the history was in aww of the pictures throughout the restaurant. We met the Owner whom was a genuine, pleasant older gentleman who loved to know how is buffet and employees were. Great Job to all and we will be back when we are in area.

Good food, good atmosphere.

By poboleda |

Nice atmosphere, good music plenty of space, when tired of being inside you can step out to the open space and watch the planes leave. It's perfect for any kind of ambiance that you look for without leaving the area. waitresses accommodating and fast. if you are over your 20's you will love it. Best place for food I was really impress with the trout, good music and atmosphere fo us that are not in the 20's anymore

Service Awful Again

By janiceinatlanta |

I have been coming here on and off for 25 years. Last night had the usual pissed of barman who was clearly trying to be as unhelpful as possible to get off his shift at 5pm. We decided to leave after one drink and go somewhere else. A few weeks ago we had a table and gave up after no service for at least 20 minutes. Sure 57th has a great ambiance and location but why can't they get more servers and decent friendly bar staff. We are not fussy either, just want a decent beer and ok food nothing more. Two years ago things were a lot better.

Birthday Buffet Extraordinaire

By Karen R |

Birthday buffet on a Sunday was perfect for our family ages 8-78. The buffet was well stocked with salads, fruit, pastries, fish, chicken, shrimp, and an omelet and carving station. Food was fresh with something for every diet. Service was impeccable.

It Turned Out To Be An Exceptional Experience

By Anthony B |

We had a party of six come in for fantastic dinner and top notch service. Joe was one of the best servers I've experienced. Really good. Erin, the hostess was also a big hit. This was my first dinner menu visit at the 57th. It's the Reuben I crave. But the pork tenderloin is a thing of beauty.

Fun brunch

By Catherine C |

We went with another couple for Sunday brunch. The food was good and there was a pretty wide assortment of different things, which was nice. The ambiance was calm and relaxing. We had a great time and enjoyed watching the runway. I recommend brunch buffet.

Excellent dinner in unique atmosphere

By David R |

We haven't been to 57th in a while. It's really a very unique spot and doesn't seemed to have changed much. Everything was great. We had reservations for the dining room which was not busy. Service was great and food was excellent as well. The chef came over and told us the specials. We would normally get steaks or similar, but decided to try a couple of the specials. My wife had a Lobster and shrimp sandwich on Texas toast that was very good, with fries that were fresh and crispy. I had a fried boneless chicken that included fried pickles over mashed potatoes. The chicken was perfectly cooked and very tasty. We will definitely go back again, hopefully soon.

Disappinting / Plastic Dishware for $30 Entrees?

By Sarah J |

It's been a few years, but this was not our first dining experience at 57th Fighter Group Restaurant. Unfortunately, this visit was a bit of a let-down. We made a reservation through Open Door for a weeknight dinner, celebrating our daughter's birthday. She's a big aviation fan and loves all things WWII so she'd been looking forward to this for a long while. When we arrived the hostess was walking by, we gave our party name and indicated we had a reservation, and she just grabbed some menus, not looking to see we were celebrating a birthday, etc. It was rather cold so we asked if we could sit near a fireplace. She sat us near a fire place somewhat close to the entrance and we faced what looked like an empty kitchen. It was very chilly where we sat. This was not the same ambiance, fireplace, and dining experience I recalled from dining there several years ago. I believe there is another dining area but I guess they weren't seating there. Our waitress was very friendly and timely with drink refills. Unfortunately, she didn't know a lot about the menu, such as number of items in an appetizer, if fish was wild-caught or farmed, potential allergen ingredients, etc. so she had a lot of trips to the kitchen to inquire which resulted in ordering delays. Even your basic chain restaurants educate and test employees on the menu, so this I'd say this is the result of poor management not having a higher expectation of their employees, as well as the employee not taking the initiative to educate herself on the items as well. The food was served on plastic - melamine - plates and bowls. Things like lemons for our drinks were put in large, clear plastic SOLO cups. We were in the dining room, not the lounge. Paying $15-20 for appetizers and $25+ for entrees at an establishment like this, where the experience was formerly known to be an elevated one, melamine is not an appropriate choice. The food was good. Not great, not horrible, just "good" though I'd argue not quite good enough to warrant the $20 pricetag on the burger. It was nice to see the planes taking off and landing. There were only 3 other tables dining while we were there. I know the lounge side has either reemerged or maintained its popularity over the years. I hope something is done to improve the restaurant side. It has such great potential, but definitely isn't living up to it, at least not based on this experience.

Excellent servicd & food!

By travelsalot5552015 |

Came early and saw lots of planes land/take off. Food was excellent and service was outstanding!!! Atmosphere is very much in keeping with World War ? atmosphere. Will be trying the Sunday brunch very soon!

Absolutely WONDERFUL!

By Thats-me-at-3 |

The 57th fighter group is an amazing experience! A huge group of about 19 of us made a reservation after a glowing recommendation from a colleague. I wasn’t sure what to expect but when we arrived, I found the grounds and restaurant incredibly interesting. I loved the views and being able to see planes going directly by the window, taking off, and landing throughout dinner. As I said, we were a large group, but Quincy was phenomenal. He made us feel welcomed and like family. He took some time to explain the history of the site as well as an explanation of the menu with personal recommendations. We had zero problems at any time during the visit. I had a chance to look around the full restaurant and saw that it could also be a lovely setting for a smaller group or couple. There is a bar and dance floor in a different section of the restaurant from where we sat. The food was every bit as awesome as the service and setting. I had the prime rib and a side Caesar salad. They were both fantastic. Other group members raves about their alcoholic drink, apps, main courses, and desserts. Kudos to the 57th Fighter Group and especially Quincy for helping us feel welcome and to have a fantastic experience. I highly recommend visiting here if/when you’re visiting Atlanta. It’s quite an experience and more than just “a place to eat.”

Going back in time.

By margaretp479 |

The atmosphere and service were great. The food was all right but not as good as I hoped it would be. This was for lunch. I have heard that their brunch is wonderful.

Poor Dessert

By Larry O |

Molten Lava Cake was COOL to touch. We told waitress and she took it back to reheat. It came out lukewarm. When we told her this she said the kitchen told her thats all they can do or it will turn hard? How can you call this a molten lava cake? We have had this from a number of other restaurants AND it was HOT. Please fix your kitchen and server. We can not recommend this. Thank you.

The Fighter Group Missed the Runway on This One.

By actoreye |

A friend and I went to the last Sunday brunch of the year to the 57th Fighter Squadron in Atlanta anticipating a great brunch experience. Instead of flying high, the restaurant did a crash and burn. The buffet could have been good but it was second rate all around. The sad pan of mixed vegetables sitting next to the sad pan of baked chicken was not appetizing.. What was left of the beer cheese soup was the dregs. The salads..well cevice had a mayonnaise base.. Need I say more? No cream cheese with the minuscule smoked salmon squares. The salmon fritata was cold, bacon greasy, and roast beef carved into tiny squares was tough . They had a pan of chilled shrimp which had soft shells pre cut for easy shelling. They were hard to peel but had a good flavor and the cocktail sauce was fabulous. The obligatory omelet station was manned but since I couldn't see any of the ingredients, I passed.. There was a small set up with a few cheeses and fruit, another with rolls and danish along side a toaster for your convenience. None of them appeared homemade. When it was desert time, I found real shipped cream in a bowl to which I added two fresh strawberries that I had to top before eating, The desert bar looked all store bought. Waffles were stacked up waiting for you. The ear phones didn't work so I was really disappointed. The wait staff was gracious and the atmosphere was good. But Atlanta has many Sunday brunches for $30.00 which would have been stellar..

Unexpected

By Billie J |

What a unique, funkie place with spectacular view of private planes landing and taking off.....all whilst sitting outside eating red-neck caviar, catfish, collard greens, or the best hamburgers and reubens in town. You can also shake your bootie and dance inside to a live band.

Excellent mael and service in a fantastic atmosphere!

Had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner on the 15th. Anne Marie provided excellent service and our steaks were very good. Had not been here in a while but will go back more often now because we had such a good time. We might try the brunch next time!

Wonderful experience

It was all good, the food, the service and the outstanding atmosphere. The inside and outside views are simply outstanding.

Food Is Good, Prices Are High

By Traveler T |

Food is very good. Service is rather slow even when we were only 1 of 3 tables in the main body of the restaurant. Drink service was very slow - had to ask for lemons for water 4 times and for water refills 3 times. While the food is good the prices are very high.

Rosie the Riveter meeting

By backhoe409 |

We attended our 1st Rosie the Riveter meeting here today. I am a Rivet and my wife is a Rosebud. There were about 20 of us, the service was efficient, the lunch menu had a large variety of very tasty food. There plates of different salads, chicken tenders, Reubens, cheeseburgers, grilled salmon and others. Everyone was pleased with their food. The atmosphere was amazing. It was like walking into a WWII story. Old army vehicles, pictures, sandbagged walls, picture windows looking out to the runway at PDK airport. The place got very busy by the time we left and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I heard that their Sunday brunch is very good. We need to go back and give it a try.

Cool place for lunch! Really liked the wings! Great for the family or solo lunch while Watching the planes take off the runway!

Good food good views

I loved my experience at this restaurant! The food was perfectly cooked and you are able to watch planes land and take off from their patio. Great for anyone who loves planes or has an interest in World War II.

Awsome

By mike s |

It is great! I have been going there for a long time! The food and menu are well thought out. The food is cooked to order. The artifacts and planes and signage are just like the real thing in the time period of the restaurant!!

Like planes?? GO!

By Robdro |

While visiting Atlanta, our niece took us here knowing how much her uncle loves planes. The outside area is really fun with planes, jeep, a bombed out bunker and more. Standing at the fence to watch planes is awesome. The food was good — would especially recommend the beer cheese soup. Basic hamburger, fried shrimp and salad. Good Bloody Mary. Waitress was friendly no other staff spoke to us. The highlight is the outside and interior decor as well as watching planes take off and land as you eat. The table behind us received a discount as they came by plane— seems us poor souls who can’t afford a plane should get a discount too 🤣. A fun place to go. They also have a nice outdoor area but was too cold to sit outside that day. Like many restaurants these days they are closed Mondays. Gave 5 for the whole experience would be 4 if just food.

By Darrell W |

My wife and I joined three other couples for dinner on a Saturday night......we go out as a group once a month. The couple that picked this restaurant said it was because of dancing after dinner. The restaurant has many WWII relics and is a unique setting/environment. The dinner menu did not have a lot of options but enough. Our party ordered the chicken, trout and the Mahi which was the special. Reports were good on the chicken and just okay on the trout. I had the mahi which was good but a little pricey for the portion size. After dinner we moved to the lounge area for dancing and had a great time. Nice dance floor with a good variety of music but not much seating area in the lounge. If I went back for dinner and dancing I'd arrive early and sit at one of the few table in the lounge area. Overall a positive experience.

My first visit last evening. Enjoyed the food and drink on the large patio and watching the planes take off and land.

Take a trip back in time to WWII and experience the ambiance of an American fighter squadron HQ in England. Great food and HUGE portions that are sure to satisfy. Family friendly, but also has a big dance floor and weekend "night life". Located next to the PDK airport, you can watch planes take off and land, including the vintage biplane that offers rides for sale and parks, literally, next to the patio. Very cool!

Great Spot for a Reunion!

By emalday68 |

We recently had our high school reunion here - it was a perfect spot. Great venue, great dance floor with DJ, and I especially loved the patio out back by the airport. Although the appetizers were included in our event, I ordered off the menu and the food did not disappoint. I used to go here as a child and it was nice to be back!

Great ambience and great food.

By Jenni D |

What a fun place. We enjoyed the decor and the food was great. We had the prime rib and pork tenderloin. Everything was cooked very well, the best part was the atmosphere. Big band and 40's era music. Fresh flowers on the table and candles. What a great find. We will be back in a Friday or Saturday for dancing, or Tuesday night trivia.

Food that rises to the surroundings.

By Charles B |

I have never had a bad meal at this place and this weekend was no exception. The service was above the bar as always and the atmosphere is unique as always. My wife and I had the salmon and I the trout. We could not have asked for a better time and all at a price that low considering the Atlanta market and surroundings.

A great place with wonderful servers

By Richard B |

Had drinks and dinner on the patio while watching planes at the adjacent airport. The wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive, despite a large crowd. Drinks and food were both excellent. We will definitely come back if we are in Atlanta again.

What a cool venue!

This is a unique place, so nostalgic, and just plan cool. We had a great meal with great service, will visit again everytime we visit Atlanta in the future. Very nice dance floor in the lounge. Just like an old time Officers/NCO club from the military!

Disappointed With Seating Arrangements

By Chuck C |

I made reservations several days in advance for Sunday Brunch. We had a reservation for 6 including my elderly parents. I was shocked when we were led to the dance floor. They had makeshift folding tables and chairs to accommodate more people. I felt like I was sitting at a kids table at a holiday. If I am paying nearly 200 including tip for a brunch , we shouldn't be sitting at a card table. Also to make things worse , the stage lights on the dance floor were blinding. My parents had a hard time navigating their way from the opposite end of the building to the buffet. This was unacceptable. The buffet was good except for a couple of things. I noticed there was more variety when we were getting ready to leave. The bread and sweet rolls were left out and were stale. I thought it was odd there were not any eggs to go with the other breakfast items. If you want eggs, you have to wait in a line for them to be cooked. We liked the location and ambiance of the restaurant. It would have been so much better if we were sat at real tables .

Unique Establishment

By Keith B |

Okay, the draw was having a good dinner in a WW2 styled French farmhouse setting containing lots of memorabilia and being able to watch the takeoffs and landings at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport up close. This restaurant delivers on the ambiance, memorabilia abounds and you can watch the air traffic coming and going. However.... (there is always a however).... I decided to make reservations in advance and I asked for a table by the window to view the runways/taxiway. I was told they could not guarantee my wife and I a table by the window, but would try their best to accommodate. Luckily we were able to get the last remaining window table when we arrived for our 7pm reservation. The view from that table was so-so and not quite as exciting as I expected (not the restaurants' fault). It was very warm as I think I heard a server state to another table that one of their a/c units was not working. The food was average. I know the beer cheese soup is hyped, but my wife and I did not find it to be that extraordinary. I had the shrimp creole and my wife and the 1/2 chicken. Again, average. I have been meaning to try this unique restaurant for a couple years and I am glad to have finally fit it into my schedule, but I just didn't find it to be a place that would be a "must do" for bringing family or friends. The dancing did start at 8pm, but again it was warm and we did not stay. To sum up: I am glad we went and tried it out, and they didn't do too bad a job, but even with the airport location and memorabilia, it could not carry the overall rating past average.

Food and Service taking off!

By blabarclay |

I've been here a few times, but this last time was really something. It was evening and we were seated in the room with a great panoramic view of the air strip--ambiance. The meal was scrumptious and well priced--essence. Then this sweet senior woman named Ann was like dessert. She gave us service of a five star with the quaintness of home. It was my mother's birthday and she flew in just to spend the day with us. We made the best choice.

Excellent Sunday Brunch!

By Alison382 |

Call early and schedule 11:30 reservation. Restaurant located on a small airstrip. Request table next to window to watch private planes land and take off. Lots of brunch choices. Mimosas start at noon. You won’t be disappointed.

Cool place, good food, crap service

Really cool building filled with interesting historical posters, pictures, and memorabilia. Th food is also quite tasty. However, the service leaves much to be desired.

A Night @ The 57th Fighter Group Restaurant in Atlanta

By David C |

My wife, daughter, her husband & a dear friend had dinner at The 57th Fighter Group Restaurant. My son in law & I had the NY Strip which was excellent & the others had the stuffed Trout which they also said was excellent. After dinner we adjourned to the Dance Hall & Bar area where we enjoyed sing alongside & dancing to a great DJ. Great night as fun was had by all.

Casual Dining

By travelwriter52 |

We were in the lounge, a more casual portion of the restaurant. They have theme nights and tonight was Luau. If you want a noisy meal, there is where you go. But you can also wear casual shirts. The main restaurant sometimes frequently asks for reservations. The main restaurant is more expensive. And the food is more casual, though you can get a steak if you like. A lot of people seemed to know each other. And yes, you can watch planes at the airport if you like.

We have been to the 57th several times for the Sunday brunch buffet and dinner and we were always pleased with everything. So we decided to go there for their Thanksgiving buffet - very disappointed. First, you can never get anyone to answer the phone for reservations - got a call back the next day. The food was not up to par - roast beef was not edible; very tough, turkey was "shredded" not in slices (also had skin mixed in with turkey), wines were either very weak (no taste) or bitter (merlot). We were not at all pleased with the food - seemed to be of a lower quality. If this is the trend for the 57th, we will not be returning.

Will be returning REAL soon!

By Ruby R |

Their brunch is awesome! So many foods to choose from and all you can eat AND the mimosas are only $1!!!

Very affordable!

By Tennisace2002 |

Had brunch on Easter Day with family. The place was overcrowded so we gladly set on the outdoor patio on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Plenty of food choices for brunch, but not exactly a gourmet brunch.. Greasy food and not exactly clean kitchen... the place was loud and messy....tap water had a smell.... the price was right and you can't beat the $1 mimosas....

Love it

By BRIAN L |

A local place that is out of the ordinary. Dresses up in a WW II motif, this place is unique and a great place for drinks. On a nice day, sit on the patio, have an adult beverage and watch the private planes take of and land.

Must do!

By Kristina T |

Everything about this place is awesome... from the food to the service to the atmosphere! Highly recommend

Bad food!!

By paulieAtlanta |

Very overpriced. $28.00 for 2 catfish filets that were so greasy. Outside bar did have great food in the past. Its a totally different menu now. Restaurant must have been sold. Whole now menu and emplyees.

Late lunch and watched the planes

By Inspiration600740 |

We got a window seat and were able to watch 3 planes while relaxing. I choose the "Mississippi Catfish" and it was awesome! Ask for Kahla she very attentive, never waited for water refills.

Airplanes + Great Sunday Brunch!

By SuperCubs |

Most romantic and delicious Sunday Brunch! Each table has access to headphones to listen to the flight tower. We were lucky to be seated at a secluded booth with historic pictures and unobstructed view of the runway where we could imagine the who, what, where and how's of each plane and it's occupants. The brunch buffet has options for everyone, including kid-friendly, vegetarian options and sweet-lovers. Kids at the table nearby kept returning to refill their hot chocolate; we learned soon after it was actually a mocha. No wonder the energy level kept rising! Outstanding mocha. The cream cheese and smoked salmon on cucumbers (with capers) was perfection, fruit was fresh and we heard good things about the bananas foster, but did not try (too full). The wait staff is very attentive and provided great suggestions. I would have liked to have more options for hot tea, warmer eggs benedict and the price was higher than I expected for not pre-alcohol serving hours. Reservations are a good idea, particularly if you are planning to after noon on Sunday when they do mimosas. They also have a private room you can reserve for events and a full bar that looks fun for nights outs. Appropriate for formal or casual occasions.

Superb Food with 1950s Military theme

By sarlsar |

From steaks to salads, the food quality is consistently phenomenal and expertly prepared. The wait staff is above-par and the atmosphere is entertaining. You can watch planes land and depart from PDK whether inside or outside on the large patio.

Could Have Been Better

By Jaded yankee |

We have patronized this restaurant ever since it opened in 1980 and through all of its iterations and ownerships. We eat there almost weekly, and almost exclusively in the lounge or on the patio. The food has always been excellent, but the service at times has been very spotty - particularly the wait staff. A couple of them consistently come across as miffed / annoyed that they have to interrupt whatever else it was that they were doing to serve the likes of you. Today was one of those days and one of those servers. All of the inside lounge tables overlooking the taxiway were littered from previous parties. The one server in the area, who wasn't doing anything, at the time made no effort to bus any of the tables. We sat down at one of the tables at about 5:00P and she eventually came over and removed some but not all of the debris. We waited for about 15 minutes and watched her walk back and forth empty-handed several times. She made no attempt to take our drink order, provide menus, or flatware. So we waited and waited. Another couple sat down at an adjacent table. She promptly brought napkins, flatware, and answered questions about menu items. She left that table and disappeared. After waiting and being ignored for almost 1/2 half hour, we left. We have had this server before. She has a lackadaisical attitude and poor customer service skills. I would not tolerate that from an employee, and I won't tolerate it as a patron. I have tipped her way above scale when she served in the past, in spite of her continuing bad attitude. So, the 57th missed a sale, and she missed a tip. Business must be very good to let things like those slip.

Can't get in couldn't finish my meal.

By Ben Z |

I was eating at the restaurant. I went outside to get my phone. I was not allowed to get back in. I Wasn't Allowed to finish my dinner. How rude. Someone should have told me I would not be allowed back in. .

Business trip

By Victor K |

Business sponsored dinner. Large crowd of over 20. Service was excellent and fast. Had the Salmon Souffle. Awesome! Atmosphere is great as always. This is a really nice place, especially if the small airplanes interest you. The view is directly next to the small airport and planes come really close when landing and taking off.

Girl's weekend

By callwendy4oils |

Sunday Brunch. Had reservations but still had to wait. Food was great. Service was great for those around us but not so much for us. Not sure why. Would go again to give it another try. The place was very unique in the surroundings.

Excellent food and service!

By Rafael D |

Great food and great view of PDK Airport. As a Vietnam veteran I love the military air it has. When you go in you feel like you are transported back in time to WWII. There's a jeep and a WWII vintage aircraft in front of the restaurant.

Service is terrible and they autocrat 22%

By bc2580 |

Terrible service is pretty consistent. So is the auto-gratuity of 22% for 4 adults and 3 kids. food is overpriced and totally blah. Reuben is good. The atmosphere is the only reason to come here.

Unique setting, good food

By Jim W. |

We randomly happened to be in the vicinity on a Friday at dinner time and my initial restaurant-choice was just doing take-out. I called the 57th (several times) but they routed me to voice mail. That, and their website, indicated that they were open for dine-in, so we gave it a shot. This place has been here a long time. I almost came here once late in high school, but lacked a reservation. A friend of mine worked as a server here for several years. I have eaten here a couple of times in the past but not recently. The ambiance/decor is 'WWII front line farmhouse'; that's my best description. This time, the parking lot was about 1/2 full at 6:30 p.m. on a Friday. It was fuller when we left. We were able to get a table by the window without a wait. We were thus able to watch the planes take off and land while we chatted and ate. The menu still seems a bit limited due to COVID. However, we both found entrees that we enjoyed. My wife liked her trout special, and my steak was good. The side salads were also tasty. Prices were not cheap. If I lived closer, this might be an almost-special-occasion place. It is certainly unique.

Definitely an experience

By Vickie M |

There is an abundance of history all around. You almost would benefit from a tour, or having the wait staff provide more of a history lesson, especially for first time visitors. I definitely recommend making a reservation, and requesting a window table. It was quite relaxing to watch the planes takeoff and land. The food was less than stellar. We had cold biscuits, with cold butter. The presentation could have been better. Wait staff was friendly, but seemed short-staffed when we were there. My suggestion is to decide if you want to be fine dining or casual? And then go all in for that style. It seemed more of a hodge podge. Definitely go on a Friday or Saturday night, and enjoy dancing in the bar after 8pm. Now that was fun!

2nd WW museum/ restaurant

By marriedplustwo |

It is a museum and a restaurant. They have champagne brunch on Sunday and it is quite nice. The rest of the time you have access to a classic American menu with good quality food. Eating outside when the weather permit is a must as the restaurant is located on a smart private airport and you can watch small planes and jets taking off and landing but far enough for the fume or TOP much noise. The restaurant has museum jeeps, planes from WW2. During the weekend a a pilot can take you do a tour of Atlanta from the restaurant. We did it and it was great. It is such a unique place and great for kids. At night it is a bar and dancing club. Must try!

Always good for the entire family

By GSU320 |

It’s the day before Father’s Day, and I decided to take the family to a new place. I know the kids like planes and food. So I thought 57th Fighter club. We sat in the porch. Jade was our server. She was spot on for rapport and great service. We got our drinks and then ordered our food. She was attentive, with a great personality with the kids too. Food is always good. I will be back again.

Disappointed

By LiketoTravel84 |

Have eaten here in different decades and unfortunately this is my last. The signature beer cheese soup...salty and not as good as it use to be. Trout entree... We'll at least no one got sick. It should be taken off menu. Filet was good I was told. Pork tenderloin... Good not great. Salmon...ehhh. Sides were so so. Our server seemed bothered by us. Never got my second beer. Didn't feel like valued customers. Sadly we won't return. The chef seems a little confused on menu options , not sure what type of identity they are going for but just my opinion. Love the venue.

Friday dinner

By Getaway35969061997 |

The building and decor are great. The windows with a awesome view were really clean and everything had been dusted recently. The waiter didn’t know the menu or whiskey selection available for my cocktails. The appetizers were from the Kroger grocery store 1/2 mile up the street. I know because I shop there. Everything tasted like it was prepackaged and old. The steak was tiny, burnt on the outside and too rare in the middle. The dessert was the only thing that was passable as far as quality. The worst thing was the price. It was more than double of any restaurant nearby with a similar menu. I guess there’s a xtra $100 charge for the view.
